Nearing Midnight: Iran Prophetic Target?

Nearing Midnight: Iran Prophetic Target? - Terry James -  http://www.raptureready.com/rap16.html

My friend, Bill Salus, has just released an especially fascinating book relative to our time. NUCLEAR SHOWDOWN IN IRAN: The Ancient Prophecy of Elam points to a particular prophecy in the book of Jeremiah that the author believes foretells a devastating blow to a certain part of Iran-the area of ancient Elam.

One of my own burning questions has been: Why does Persia (modern-day Iran) seemingly intend to attack Israel alongside Russia in the Gog-Magog attack of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 without apparent deployment of nuclear weaponry? -Thus, since Iran is obviously developing such weapons as fast as it can.

The only "nuclear"-type, explosive discharges of that massive assault seem attributed to Israel's lone defender-God, Himself. I wrote in my book, CAULDRON: Supernatural Implications of the Current Middle East, the following:

"God's being in complete control of things to come makes it fact-to those of us who believe in His promises to protect Israel-that Persia (present-day Iran) will not have to necessarily have its nuclear program destroyed or constantly delayed by an outside attack from Israel and/or the U.S. Iran's nuclear development facilities, intelligence reports say, lie deep in caverns of mountainous regions that are among the most earthquake-prone areas on the planet. These earthquake zones are capable of producing among the most severe tremblers possible. Perhaps this will be the fate of Iran's atomic weapons ambition. The bottom line is that God's Word, rather than predicting nuclear-like devastation for Israel, foretells such catastrophic destruction upon those who try to destroy that people..."

Salus sets up the premise of his own book-that Jeremiah 49:34-39 is a prophecy that foretells God's punishing blow against the very part of present-day Iran where preparations are even now being made for striking the much-hated Israel with nuclear devastation. He points out that the area of Elam was located precisely where the present-day area of Bushehr sits. It is the mountainous breeding grounds of Iran's nuclear program.

He writes:

Bushehr is the location of Iran's first nuclear site. It was first to be started, first to be finished, and first to become operational. It was loaded with Russian fuel rods in August of 2010 and became operational shortly thereafter... [He details the area's development and concludes:]... The safety concerns are wide reaching because the facility was constructed with unmonitored German, Russian, and Iranian parts over a prolonged period of time. Also, the plant was built near tectonic plates, and some studies suggest that a radioactive disaster at Bushehr is possible and could threaten the water supplies of the Arab Gulf States. It is possible that Jeremiah is attempting to describe an attack on Iran's nuclear program, at least in Elam where the Bushehr reactor exists.

Salus writes further:

Although Iran lies within about 90% seismically active land, the catastrophic tragedy appears to be the result of a military attack rather than a great earthquake. It is important to note that the Bushehr nuclear plant is filled with Russian nuclear fuel rods, and sits squarely in the heart of Elam. It is a strategic target of any strike upon Iran's nuclear program. Some have speculated that an attack on Bushehr could result in a nuclear disaster.

There is foretold as part of the prophecy he analyzes a preemptive removal by heavenly providence of many people from the area in question. Today, there are Christians in the region who know this prophecy and want to leave, many of them expressing the passion for witnessing to the world the saving message of Christ. These, according to Salus, are perhaps those who will be at the center of fulfilling this last-days dispersion.

The author believes all of this might come to pass sooner rather than later, and the way things are shaping for the wind-up of this fleeting age, he could be on the mark.

Bill Salus has shed considerable illumination on how things might well shape up prophetically in the next few months and years in matters involving my questions about Iran and nuclear weaponry. His is a book that I strongly suggest anyone who wants to probe some powerfully insightful--and, I believe, Holy-Spirit-directed--thought should get and study carefully.
