Nursa Front Poses Greatest Threat
According to officials, a band of extremists in Syria poses a more direct and imminent threat to the United States than the Islamic State. At the center is a cell known as the Khorasan group, a cadre of veteran al-Qaida fighters from Afghanistan and Pakistan who traveled to Syria to link up with the al-Qaida affiliate there, the Nursa Front. U.S. officials say they were sent by al-Qaida to recruit Europeans and Americans whose passports allow them to board a U.S.-bound airliner with less scrutiny from security officials.Read More > | | | |

| World Conflicts Amount in WWIII
Pope Francis says the spate of conflicts around the globe is effectively a piecemeal Third World War. "This is the time to weep," Francis said. In the past few months, Francis has made repeated appeals for an end to conflicts in Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Gaza and parts of Africa. "War is irrational; its only plan is to bring destruction: It seeks to grow by destroying," he said.

| School Pupils to be Fingerprinted
Pupils will have their fingerprints taken at Redhill School in Stourbridge, England. The controversial technology is part of a plan to implement a cashless system throughout the school. Pupils will be required to press a finger against a machine which converts the print into biometric data to pay for lunches. The 1,200-pupil school in Junction Road detailed its plans in a letter to parents last month.

| Next Country Granted EU Membership
Enlargement is not something that we can opt for but do not have to complete, it simply has to go on in case there are countries that are interested in the membership status, says former EU enlargement commissioner Gunther Verheugen. He noted and added that it is perhaps true that EU enlargement will not take place in the next five years, but this does not rule out enlargement policy.

| Pope Married Couple Who Lived 'In Sin'
In a taboo-challenging ceremony at the Vatican, Pope Francis married a single mother, a couple who had been married before, and couples who have been living together. Francis asked to marry 40 people from different social backgrounds who would be a realistic sample of modern couples. It comes just weeks before a major synod of the Catholic Church will discuss the divisive issues of marriage, divorce and conception.

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has blocked an attempt to push for the prosecution of Israel for war crimes in Gaza at the International Criminal Court (ICC), in order to push forward a new peace talks bid, President Abbas decided not to sue Israel at the ICC unless his new initiative fails to resume peace talks with Israel. The PA has been threatening for years that it will sue Israel a the ICC.

The United States resumed air strikes in Iraq in August amid fears that the militants would break the country up and rise it as a base for attacks on the West U.S. fighter jets have conducted 160 air strikes on Islamic State positions in Iraq. The United States plans to present a legal case before expanding them into Syria.
