TRUMP WATCH: 6.17.17 - The U.S. Embassy-Jerusalem Decision

The U.S. Embassy-Jerusalem Decision
- Terry James -
http://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/

U.S. presidential candidate Donald J. Trump's declaration was loud and clear: "We will move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel's capital, Jerusalem!"

This was the candidate's core promise involving Israel throughout the long, disputatious, campaign season. It was at least a part of why many within the
religious right supported the Trump candidacy.

So it was that when President Trump made the announcement after his trip to the Middle East and to Jerusalem a cry of betrayal went up from his base of
support. His administration will not for the foreseeable future move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel's capital.

WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump signed a temporary order on Thursday to keep the U.S. embassy in Israel in Tel Aviv instead of relocating it to Jerusalem,
despite his campaign pledge to go ahead with the controversial move.

After months of fierce debate within his administration, Trump chose to continue his predecessors' policy of signing a six-month waiver overriding a 1995
law requiring that the embassy be transferred to Jerusalem, an action that would have complicated his efforts to restart Israeli-Palestinian peace talks. ("Trump delays moving U.S embassy to Jerusalem despite campaign pledge," Reuters, By Matt Spetalnick)

The White House was quick to report that the president was by no means lessening his support for Israel. Also, they made clear that the move of the embassy
is only delayed. It will still be moved to Jerusalem is the word that continues to come from the administration-thus, though there has been no time table set for such a move.

White House sources said: "The question is not if that move happens, but only when."

The statement further said that the president's decision to defer the move for now was made "to maximize the chances of successfully negotiating a deal
between Israel and the Palestinians, fulfilling his solemn obligation to defend America's national security interests."

President Trump said at the 2016 AIPAC conference in Washington DC, "We will move the American embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem."
He remained silent about his pledge to make the move, however, following his November 8 election.

There are many within the Christian community who supported him who are worried that this means Trump is a wolf in sheep's clothing, as the saying goes.
I am even getting emails, as I wrote last week, from those who are beginning to say he has Antichrist characteristics. Some especially look at his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, with suspicion in that regard.

Some believe that the entire matter involving Trump's decision to remove the United States from the Paris Accords on climate change was to create a diversion
from the supposed fact that he was betraying his campaign promise regarding the embassy move to Jerusalem.

I harbor no such suspicions-at least not to this point in observing this president's actions and activities. He has proven a man of his word to this point.
He hasn't not moved the embassy-only delayed that move.

Considering the current climate of distrust and animus between the Jews and their enemy Muslim neighbors, it is, in my opinion, wise to proceed cautiously,
while intending fully to move the embassy at the best possible diplomatic moment.

At the same time, I urge the president to move the embassy. It will be an act that shows the desire to bless Israel-never the wrong thing to do.

He has, in my estimation, been very forthright in stating why he made the decision to delay. We will see if he follows through on his White House promise:
"The question is not if that move happens, but only when."

One thing is absolutely certain. God's touchstone city to the entire world will one day be the capital of the millennial earth. God has reserved great
things for this place He calls "the apple of my eye."

Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for
her with great fury. Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain...And I will bring them, and they shall dwell
in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness. (Zechariah 8:1-4, 8)

Lines in the Sand

An alliance of pro-US Sunni Arab states is emerging

The decision by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt and Yemen  to cut off diplomatic relations with Qatar is the latest step in the
re-emergence of a clearly defined US-led Sunni Arab bloc of states.  The task of this alliance is to roll back Iranian influence and advancement in the region, and to battle against the forces of Sunni political Islam.

Little noticed by western media,  this conservative Sunni alliance against Iran and Sunni Islamism has been under construction for some time.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE were the first to recognize the new regime of General Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi following the military coup on July 3, 2013.  Financial
support from both countries has been crucial in ensuring the avoidance of economic disaster in Egypt.

The Saudis and Emiratis were the moving force behind the interventions into Bahrain in 2011 and Yemen in 2015. In both cases, the intention was to prevent
the advance of Iranian interests.

Both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates maintained high levels of military spending over the last half decade, in spite of low oil prices.  The
two countries have sagely invested in air power and special operations forces - the areas most relevant to the type of wars being fought at present in the Middle East.

The results have been visible over the last two years.

The intervention to prevent  the advance of the Iran-supported Ansar Allah militia toward the strategically crucial Bab el-Mandeb Strait was the first
real 'outing' for Gulf Arab non-proxy military power (Operation Peninsula Shield into Bahrain in 2011 was a police action against popular unrest).

The results in Yemen have been mixed, but by no means constitute the debacle that the intervention has been presented as in some quarters.  The Houthis
remain in control of Tsana'a, the Yemeni  capital.    But the nightmare scenario in which an Iran-supported force acquired control of the narrow Bab El-Mandeb strait, through which all shipping between the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea must pass, was avoided.
Emirati and Saudi special operations forces played a key role in the fighting.

In Libya, Emirati air power, employed in support of  General Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army, has played an important part in Haftar's fight against
Islamist militants.  The Emiratis built a forward air base, al-Khadim, in Marj province 100 km from Benghazi.   AT-802 light attack aircraft and UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters operate from the base, according to satellite imagery published by IHS Jane's.

However, the election of Donald Trump appears to have sharply increased the scope and ambitions of the pro-US Gulf Arab states.  It is clear that they
identify  a similar regional outlook to their own in Trump and  key figures around him.  This raises the possibility of a more assertive and clearly defined strategy regarding both the Iranian and Sunni Islamist adversaries.

At the Riyadh meeting on May 21st,  55 Muslim majority countries signed a declaration pledging to establish a 'a reserve force of 34,000 troops to support
operations against terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria when needed."

According to the final communique from the summit, the leaders present 'confirmed their absolute rejection of the practices of the Iranian regime designed
to destabilize the security and stability of the region and the world at large and for its continuing support for terrorism and extremism," and accused Teheran of  maintaining a  "dangerous ballistic missiles program" and of "continuing interference in the
domestic affairs of other countries." A third of the document was devoted to criticism of Iranian regional activities.

The signing of the 'Riyadh Declaration' took place following the visit of Donald Trump to Riyadh. Trump, in his speech at the summit, accused Iran of
'"spreading destruction and chaos across the region."

Declarations by Gulf states have not always been followed by concerted action on the ground, of course.  But with the current emergent stand-off between
pro-western and pro-Iranian forces in eastern Syria, and the incremental loss of territory by the Islamic State in that area, it is not hard to think of the type of roles which a standing Gulf Arab 'counter-terror' force would play, for example, in holding
and administering Sunni Arab areas in cooperation with local forces.

An additional, un-stated assumption behind the emergence of this bloc is that the energies of the Arab uprisings that
began in late 2010 are largely spent.   A bloc led by Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Sisi's Egypt will not seek to mobilize the revolutionary energies of populations. Rather, as with that of the Iranians, this alliance will be a top-down affair, featuring regular
and semi-regular military forces carefully commanded and controlled from above.

In this regard, it is interesting to note that the main 'casualty' of the emergence of this alliance is Qatar, the country which above all others sought
to fan the flames of the uprisings.  Qatar, through its support for Muslim Brotherhood associated movements and via its enormously influential al-Jazeera satellite channel, tried to turn the energies of the Sunni Arab masses in Syria, Egypt and the Palestinian
territories into political power and influence for itself (while, of course, harshly suppressing any attempts by its own largely non-citizen population to claim rights).   This project has failed.

For a moment, a large Sunni Islamist bloc based on Qatari money and Muslim Brotherhood power seemed to be emerging.  MB-associated parties controlled
Cairo, Ankara, Tunis and Gaza.  Similar movements seemed plausibly within reach of Damascus.  But this bloc proved stillborn and little of it now remains.

The hour of the revenge of Doha's Gulf neighbors has thus arrived.  The shunting aside of little Qatar, however, is ultimately only a detail in the larger picture.
What is more significant is the re-emergence of an overt alliance of Sunni Arab states under US leadership,  following the development of military capabilities in relevant areas, and with the stated intention of challenging the Iranian regional advance and
Sunni political Islam.  It remains to be seen what this bloc will be able to achieve re its stated aims.  But the lines of confrontation between the two central power blocs in the region are now more clearly drawn than at any time in recent years.

 Dodging
the Climate Change Bullet
- Todd Standberg -http://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/

The decision by President Trump to pull out of the Paris Agreement was a huge victory for freedom loving Americans. When Barack Hussein Obama went to
Paris he had little interest in protecting the rights of U.S. citizens. He had a very easy time as president because he loved to hand out blank checks everyone. Trump is left with the difficult task of reversing those costly promises.

The Constitution does not give Obama the right to obligate the American people to international pacts with his simple signature on a document. It gives
the president the power "to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur." The use of the word "agreement" seems to be an obvious attempt to go around our constitutional rules.

President Trump has had a lot of business success throughout his life and he can recognize a bad deal when he sees one:

"The world applauded when we joined Paris, and you know why? I think they applauded because they knew it was going to put this country at an economic
disadvantage," he said during a White House press briefing. "And the reason European leaders ... that I think they want us to stay in, is because they know it will continue to shackle our economy," he said.

The way world leaders have showed outrage over Trump's decision one would think America produces 90 percent of Co2 emissions. We actually only contribute
17 percent of the total. Our production of CO2 has been falling. We peaked out in the mid 1970s at 22.5 metric tons per person and we are now at 16.39 metric tons per person. During the past 40 years, China's production of CO2 has increased 14 times per person.

The agreement itself is largely toothless in the area of lowering a nation's carbon footprint. Instead of having a master plan that would switch countries
to alternative fuels, there is only a call for nations to work toward various ill-defined goals. This problem led James Henson, the "father of global awareness of climate change" and an ex-NASA scientist, to condemn the agreement as a fraud. The agreement
lacks any enforcement mechanism, instead relying on nations voluntarily to reduce emissions.

The nations of India and China get a complete pass on their CO2 emissions. They can keep growing their fossil fuel consumption for an unlimited amount
of time. Since the world is not sealed off by giant walls of glass, the output from Asia will increase global warming just as much as America's output.

The 200 other nations that signed the Paris Agreement did so because they were eager to receive money. Low income countries would share a $100 billion
fund that would be earmarked for payouts to assist in adaptation and mitigation. The country responsible for financing the fund would be rich old Uncle Sam. Other Western nations would pay zero into the fund.

President Trump's decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement cannot take place until January of 2020. Under so-called international law, we need to wait
four years before we will be free of our obligations. If Trump loses the next election, his successor will still have time to reverse the decision. Trump should put the matter up to a vote in the Senate. When it fails to get the two thirds vote requirement,
he can then declare the Paris Agreement dead as far as America is concerned.

This pattern of giving up our liberties to foreign bodies became a critical matter when we surrendered our ability to declare war by first going to the
UN for approval each time. If Germany and Japan in the 1940s had maneuvered themselves into having veto power, we would have to violate international law in order to respond to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

President Trump was right on the mark when he said, "I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris." The rest of the world is determined
to entangle our nation into agreements that will have international committees deciding if someone in America can water their lawn or build a shed.

We may have dodged the climate change bullet, but I don't think we will have a respite from other similar entanglements. The devil will quickly be back
with another ploy. The  keep coming faster and faster because we are near to the time when Satan will soon have control of all nations. It is my hope that the Rapture is the only reason why America finally bows to the globalist cabal.

"Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule; and he shall exalt himself in his heart. He shall destroy many in their prosperity. He
shall even rise against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without human means" (Daniel 8:25).

Hypocrisy at the highest
- Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Many Americans are watching with amazement at the circus taking place in our nation's capital trying to derail, delegitimize the presidency and obstruct government.
It's happening under the guise of investigating whether President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to steal the US election. Even Democratic leaders say that there is no evidence, but they pursue the obstruction of the Trump agenda through the morass they
are creating with their media partners and communist actors. Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions took center ring and testified. Bottom line: Sessions said that the mere suggestion of collusion with the Russians to undermine America "is an appalling and
detestable lie."

It wasn't long ago when another Attorney General was embroiled in a controversy that was far worse than what Sessions was accused. In fact, this Attorney
General has participated in a gun running scheme that ended up getting border agents killed. Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify about Fast and Furious, his scheme to sell guns to Mexican drug cartels so the government could
track their movement. The result was the deaths of at least two US border agents. Holder also refused to enforce laws such as the Defense of Marriage Act and voter rights laws when the New Black Panthers terrorist group refused to allow whites to vote in Philadelphia.
He also was caught spying on journalists.

Pay no mind because Congress didn't do a thing about it. Yet a Republican-controlled Congress is allowing a minority-led coup attempt by the Democratic
Party to advance through Congressional hearings about a Russian influence scheme on American elections where there is no evidence to support even the weakest claims. The Democratic Party, namely its most recent candidate for President, has ties with Russia
that resulted in uranium sales to Russia in return for donations of at least $20 million dollars to the Clinton Foundation-all part of a very well documented influence peddling scheme orchestrated by Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State. Nothing
to see here. Media moves on.

This is amazing. It is hypocrisy at the highest. Congress overlooks documented evidence of governmental organized crime with Russian purchases of uranium,
sales of weapons to Mexican drug cartels, the backing of al Qaeda in Libya during the Benghazi crisis, yet allows a minority party to foment a three-ring circus that undermines the office of the President. Republicans should be ashamed for their lack of courage
and backbone. You see, both parties are at fault. They should do what they are elected to do rather than trying to tear one another down. As Jesus said in Matthew 12:25. "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house
divided against itself shall not stand." We, the people, need to unify against this hypocrisy and highway to tyranny.

Gunfire in a War of Words

For a moment on Wednesday morning, it all changed.  The vitriol died. Democrats huddled in prayer... for Republicans.  The Speaker of the House of Representatives
spoke for the entire House of Representatives.  The Minority Leader of the House fully endorsed the Speaker's words, and spoke of prayer for all her colleagues' safety.  She spoke of praying that the President have a successful term in office.

It took a tragedy.  It always does.  I'm sure you know the story.  A man shot at some Republican Congressmen practicing for a charity baseball game.  He
shot Representative Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a Congressional aide, as well as members of the Capitol Police.  Only the gunman was killed.  As of now, we don't know how badly the Congressmen and others were injured.

The vitriol in Washington and around the country seems to get worse every day.  We expect it during elections, but this time it never ended.  If anything,
it grew worse.  But for a moment on Wednesday, everything was better. Collegiality, empathy, and kindness seemed to fill the air.

Speaker Paul Ryan said, "We are united in our shock.  We are united in our anguish.  An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us."

He was referring to the men and women of Congress, but he could have called this an attack on the entire nation.  It was an attack on the Constitution
- on the mechanisms put in place by our founders to ensure freedom and representative government for all.  It was an attack on government of, by, and for the people.

During that moment on Wednesday, Washington stopped.  Our leaders seemed to see anew that these American institutions of freedom are indeed precious and
rare.  Elected representatives looked across the aisle and, however briefly, saw human beings on the other side.  Each realized that the gunfire could have been aimed at him or her.

It could have been the other way around, but the killer hated Republicans. Before the shooting, he asked if the players practicing were Republican or
Democrat.  He was told that they were Republicans.  The killer, a Bernie Sanders volunteer, wrote on his Facebook page, "Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy, It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co."

One Congressman who was there, Mark Warner of North Carolina, said it seemed that the "gunman was there to kill as many Republican members as possible."

I haven't heard anyone blaming guns, Democrats, or Senator Sanders, and they should not.  The man responsible for the shooting was the shooter himself.
He made the choice.  He picked up the gun, and took it to a place he knew men were practicing for Congress's annual charity baseball game. He made sure of his target.  Then he opened fire.

It could have been much, much worse.  The Congressmen were hemmed in by the fence.  Representative Mike Bishop of Michigan said they were "sitting ducks."
He said the killer "had a rifle that was clearly meant for the job of taking people out, multiple casualties, and he had several rounds and magazines that he kept unloading and reloading."

Bishop added, "The only reason why any of us walked out of this thing, by the grace of God, one of the folks here (from security detail traveling with
Scalise) had a weapon to fire back and give us a moment to find cover.  We were inside the backstop and if we didn't have that covered by a brave person who stood up and took a shot himself, we would not have gotten out of there and every one of us would have
been hit - every single one of us."

I hope the goodwill can continue, but the issues facing this country and the world are severe, and tempers will be raised again.  The stakes in national
capitals, and especially Washington, get higher every day.  The decisions of a few can now impact billions of lives.

Leaders should be passionate about core issues.  But they could also stand some kindness.  I pray that God will do a work of love in the hearts of America's
leaders.

God's Word gives the real answer, "Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly;
it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never fails." (1 Corinthians
13:4-8)

In times like these, we should meditate on these words.

Creating the hate crime atmosphere

Democrats across the land are appalled at the assassination attempt of Congressional Republicans by Illinois leftist James Hodgkinson, who wounded four and left
Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) in critical condition. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that her prayers were with Scalise and the others, as well as for President Donald Trump. She said that while there are differences among the parties, that they are all family.
Other Democrats took a similar conciliatory tone, and socialist Senator Bernie Sanders even issued an apology because Hodgkinson was part of his campaign. Virginia Democratic Governor Terry McCauliffe expressed empathy, but used the opportunity to promote
gun control. But wait.

These people, while they are acting all sympathetic and empathetic saying that we are all family, are the very same people who have stirred hate for Republicans
and fueled the vulgar and nasty protests to resist, obstruct, undermine and overthrow the current Republican-led government. Look at the statements made by Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, the ex-"president," Keith Ellison, Ashley Judd, Madonna, and
so on. Their hate-filled inflammatory rhetoric has people so stirred up that it was only a matter of time when a nut-case like Hodgkinson took matters into his own hands. How many more out there are about to cross that red line of no return because of the
national rhetoric of the left?

Between radicalization of Muslims and the Democratic Party rhetoric, our country is becoming a very inhospitable place for the law-abiding. In this case,
leadership of the Democratic Party, who are now expressing their contrite condolences, were part and parcel to this hate crime by Hodgkinson. Those who marched on Washington wearing their little pink vagina stocking caps and cheered in support of the speeches
are also responsible for creating this atmosphere. Shame on them. Because of this heightened rhetoric, our way of life is threatened. This hate speech, and that is truly what it is even when they are saying peace out of the other side of their mouths, begets
violence. Hodgkinson is not alone. There are others. Hopefully, they will stand down. But how much rhetoric can some of these leftist radicals endure before they turn violent?

George Washington, in his 1796 Farewell Speech, warned against divisions and suggested a higher duty to country and to one another when he said, "The
name of American, which belongs to you in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of patriotism more than any appellation derived from local discriminations. With slight shades of difference, you have the same religion, manners, habits, and
political principles." We should act as such. Jesus said in Mark 3:25, "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand." Lincoln used this in his June 1858 speech forewarning the Civil War. As Christians, we know how Christ taught civility
and solving our differences without hate and vulgarity. For the sake of our way of life and our eternal hope, let us exemplify Christ in this hate crime atmosphere.

Congressional shooter may not have worked alone - Bill Wilson
-
www.dailyjot.com
A colleague yesterday said he was working from home because the FBI asked his company to shut down during the investigation of the baseball field where
James Hodgkinson attempted to assassinate Republican members of Congress. I knew there was a ball field across from my friend's office, but I hadn't put two and two together. This field is really tricky to find as even GPS gets confused and "recalculating"
occurs. Then an email arrived from ministry partner William Agbeti in Ghana, who has survived six coups, with a blockbuster question: "How did gunman James Hodgkinson, who lives in Chicago, know when and where Steve Scalise and Company would be practicing
for a baseball game in Alexandria?"

When I told Agbeti about how difficult it is to find the field, he replied, "Third world kinda contract killing at work." This is an excellent point.
While the narrative is that Hodgkinson was a lone wolf who went off the deep end because of all the hate rhetoric, how did he just randomly show up with an assault rifle at an obscure location where Republican Congressmen were practicing for a baseball game
of all things? No, there is more to this story. It's too bad that Hodgkinson was killed as he took his secret to his grave, although we do know that he was influenced by the hate speech atmosphere created by Democratic politicians and their celebrity supporters
as amplified by a biased and complicit media.

The conciliatory chorus crooned by Democrats turned quickly to blaming President Donald Trump for the shooter's actions. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi
(D-CA) was all gushy on the day the shooting occurred, but the day after said in a speech: "When you have a president that says I can shoot somebody on 5th Avenue and nobody would care, when you have people saying beat them up and I'll pay their legal fees,
when you have all the assaults that are made on Hillary Clinton, for them to be so sanctimonious is something." In her column "The Resistance goes live-fire," Ann Coulter concluded: "The fake news insists that Trump's White House is in "chaos." No, the country
is in chaos. But just like Kathy Griffin and her Trump decapitation performance art--the perpetrators turn around in doe-eyed innocence and blame Trump."

Agbeti sees this from an experiential lens: "Being an African who has survived six coups d'etat in Ghana, I see so many similarities associated with the
development of coups d'etat at play in the US. This development has kept me thinking: What could be happening here?...Indisputably, there is a coup in the offing...the good people of America may not know about the coup in the offing. But clearly, those engineering
the coup d'etat know what they are doing; and admittedly they seem to be pros about what they are doing." These are people with blood on their hands and in their minds and hearts. As The Lord said to Cain in Genesis 4:10, "The voice of your brother's blood
cries unto me from the ground." We need to recognize this and pray for our nation and the courage to honor God, calling for civility and standing against tyranny.
