Where are the peacemakers?
- Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
My brother- and sister-in-law recently spent some time in Gettysburg exploring the historic battlefield. We were talking about their experience last night at
dinner with my wife and son. We talked about how it is difficult to imagine that Americans turned on one another in a Civil War. That neighbors fought neighbors, brothers were against brothers and the deep emotional, physical, and spiritual toll that war exacted
on the country, the effects still lingering after 150 years. The death toll of Americans in the US Civil War is estimated at approximately 700,000. We asked ourselves if there wasn't some way to have avoided that, to have worked it out? Then the conversation
turned to the hostile environment of today.
The rhetoric is visceral. The radical left is relentless in trying to undermine and render ineffective a duly elected President. They are using foul and
vulgar language, hiding behind "art" to depict beheading and assassination of the President. They are using words that fan the flames of hate, painting the image that if anyone disagrees with their dark view of the world that those people are hate mongers,
racists, bigots, and worse. They have driven the narrative of the nation to an extreme level. The news media is part and parcel to amplifying the message of hate and rebellion. The politicians are pointing fingers and elevating accusations. The comedians and
entertainers are joining the chorus with their star power.
Then we have a guy from the most gun-controlled state, Illinois, who hops in a van to another most gun-controlled area in Washington, DC, who somehow
buys a semi-automatic weapon and manages to find an obscure baseball field where Republican Congressmen are practicing, and opens fire on them. Come to find out, he had a hit list of conservatives to kill. The question that remains is: Did he act alone, or
is he part of a larger movement? Certainly, with all the rhetoric that has hatefully hit the news media since the shooting, it begs the question of what is really going on in this country. Many experienced with observing government overthrows believe we are
witnessing a coup in the making.
Many others believe we are on the verge of another Civil War. The violence associated with the leftist groups against those who rally in support of the
President is their confirmation. Folks, we do not need Americans killing Americans as what happened in the 1860s. We do not need to become a third world nation with communists and anarchists trying to overthrow our form of government. We need to pray for peace.
We need to stand for righteousness and accountability. Jesus said in Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." We need peacemakers to speak into this charged atmosphere. Let's use our conversations to calm down
the rhetoric.
Naming Bin Salman Saudi heir impacts US, Israel -

The Saudi king's decision to elevate his son Prince Mohammed bin Salman, 31, to crown prince and heir to the throne,
in place of his cousin Mohammed bin Nayef - as part of a broad reshuffle, is not merely the internal affair of the royal hierarchy, but a game-changing international event.
in place of his cousin Mohammed bin Nayef - as part of a broad reshuffle, is not merely the internal affair of the royal hierarchy, but a game-changing international event.
debkafile's analysts see it as the outcome of a global and regional process initiated by Donald Trump soon after he settled in the White House in January.
With his appointment as de facto ruler of the oil kingdom, the Saudi king's son is ready to step into his allotted place in a new US-Arab-Israeli alliance that will seek to dominate Middle East affairs. Israel will be accepted in a regional lineup for the
first time alongside the strongest Sunni Arab nations who all share similar objectives, especially the aim to stop Iran.
Trump's trip to Riyadh and Jerusalem in early May laid the cornerstone for the new US-Sunni Arab bloc versus Iran's Shiite grouping and also cemented
Israel's co-option.
This bloc is in its infancy and has yet to display staying power and prove the wisdom of its policies. But its contours have taken shape. US President
Trump is taking the lead role along with Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates, another crown prince, Egypt's President Abdul-Fatteh El-Sisi, and Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Three of those leaders already maintain strong direct - albeit discreet - ties with Israel's prime minister, its security establishment, military and
various intelligence agencies.
In a lecture on Tuesday, June 20, Israel's chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkott, spoke of the covert relations between the IDF and certain Arab nations,
which he did not name. There is clearly a lot going on under the surface in various political, economic, financial, intelligence and military fields.
Recent events in the region already point to President Trump acting on important matters, such as the confrontation with Iran, the war on terror, the
Syrian conflict and US intervention in the Yemen conflict, on the advice of the two Arab crown princes rather than Defense Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
This was strikingly demonstrated when Trump overrode Tillerson's recommendation to apply diplomacy for resolving the dispute that led to four Arab nations
boycotting Qatar, with the Saudis in the lead, whereas the president then demanded strong action to stop Qatar's funding of terrorists. He therefore opted for the aggressive Saudi and UAE stance against Qatar's ruler, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
These developments bear strongly on US-Russian relations. The two crown princes maintain active ties with President Vladimir Putin. They could, of course,
act as go-betweens for smoothing relations between the White House and the Kremlin. But, on the other hand, their influence could be counter-productive and goad Trump into engaging the Russians in a limited confrontation in Syria. It is hard to see Washington
and Moscow coming to terms in Syria at this point when the former is closely allied to Saudi Arabia and the UAE and Moscow maintains its loyalty to Tehran.
The evolving bonds between the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Israel are the source of President Trump's optimism about the prospects of pulling
off an Israeli-Palestinian peace accord, a vision which eluded all his predecessors in the White House, while knocking over the decades-old barriers between the moderate Arab nations and the Jewish State.
The first steps towards this goal are in the making. They will include exposing parts of their hidden interaction to the light of day, as well as such
important symbolic actions, as opening Arab skies to the passage of Israeli commercial flights, or direct telephone links.
None of this is expected to transpire overnight but rather over years, especially since there is opposition to the process still to overcome in the Arab
world, including Saudi Arabia, and also in the United States. Critics lay into Mohammed bin Salman, who has made his mark as a visionary social and economic reformer at home, as too young, brash and impatient to rule the kingdom. His decision to entangle Saudi
Arabia in the Yemen war, which many believe it cannot win, is held up as evidence of his reckless nature.
But the process switched on by Trump in Riyadh took a large stride forward on June 21, with the formalization by King Salman of his young son's role as the top
mover and shaker in the Saudi kingdom. King Salman obtained the support of 31 out of 34 members of Saudi Arabia's Allegiance Council for confirming Prince Muhammad Bin Salman as crown prince as well as deputy prime minister and minister of defense.
Americans 4 Communists 0
In the four special elections to replace congressmen appointed to positions in President Donald Trump's administration, the communist-progressive-inspired Democratic
Party has lost all four races. The last race in Georgia's 6th District was the most hotly contested and nationally renown. Democrats spent some $24 million dollars to elect a 30-year-old "progressive" who didn't live in the district, had a live-in girlfriend,
and had absolutely no experience at much of anything, in what became the most expensive congressional race in America's history. The rhetoric spewing from his campaign reflected that of the national "resistance" movement of the Democratic Party. He lost by
a 51.9-48.1% margin.
The communist-progressive-inspired Democratic Party has, in fact, lost every special election this season-Georgia by 3 points; South Carolina by four
points; Kansas by seven points; and Montana by six points. In Georgia, the Democrat candidate raised some 95% of his $24 million dollars (roughly $192 per vote) from outside of his district with well over $8 million coming from the San Francisco Bay area.
The Democratic Party, in its desperation to show America that the "resist" movement is viable, is willing to allow the optics of California and New York to buy influence in states that voted Republican in the last election. It's all about power, control, and
choking down self-determination-very non-democratic.
The news media is in a quandary. It, too, invested a lot of public capital in promoting vehemently anti-Trump and pro-"resistance" Democratic Party candidates.
Even before the Georgia election was officially called, the fake news spin doctors at CNN were trying to claim some small victory: "The losses aren't all doom and gloom for Democrats. The party got closer than it has in decades to winning some of the four
seats-a sign they've closed their gaps with Republicans in both suburban and rural areas and in 2018 will have a broad playing field with dozens of more competitive districts." Democratic strategists, however, are questioning that their messaging reached too
narrow of a voting demographic.
The narrow demographic they are alluding to are those vulgar, visceral, violent-prone radical leftists who are seeking to obstruct and overthrow the government.
There are, frankly, not enough of them to win elections-even as motivated as they are. This is a signal to the rest of America. Not all Democrats are violent, hate-filled radicals. Most are law-abiding citizens, especially in the south and Midwest, whose families
traditionally have been Democrats and just don't know any other way. Many are repulsed by the hate-filled rhetoric of the "resistance." Christian Americans have an opportunity to help change the rhetoric of hate by acting as Ephesians 6:6 says, "Not with eye-service,
as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ; doing the will of God from the heart." Let's speak about decency and civility to all who will hear.
The weaponization of the left's visceral speech
The vulgar and hate-filled rhetoric of the left has resulted in violence across the country, most notably the recent Bernie Sanders supporter James Hodgkinson
assassination attempt on Republican Congressmen. When we consider the tone of the news media, leftist entertainers and politicians, and then match that rhetoric with the actions of protestors and organized groups such as Moveon.org, the ex-"president's" organizations
Organizing for America (his 2012 campaign organization) and Organizing For Action (his 2008 campaign organization), and Islamic groups, we can conclude they have all teamed up to oppose, obstruct, resist the government-using hate speech, fake news, and lies
to foment rebellion and coup.
For example, Bernie Sanders said on June 10th, three days before the shooting, "Today in the White House we have perhaps the worst and most dangerous
president in the history or our country and we also have not to be forgotten extreme right-wing leadership in the US House and the US Senate." Sanders was parroted by Congressional shooter James Hodgkinson two days later at the garage where he was having his
tires checked. AP reported Del Ray Service Center worker Crist Dauberman describing the exchange: "This man was just so passionate and hateful toward (President Donald) Trump, recounting Hodgkinson's profanity-laden tirade. Among other things, Hodgkinson said
Trump had screwed up the country "more than anyone in the history of this country.""
Sanders can issue an apology all he wants, and he can try to distance himself from Hodgkinson's actions, but doesn't the Hodgkinson situation fit the
very definition that the liberals use for hate speech? Hate speech is defined as "spoken words that are offensive, insulting, and/or threatening to an individual or group based on a particular attribute of that person or persons being targeted." Hate crimes
are those where an illegal act is committed against an individual or group based on a particular attribute of that person or group. The consideration in the current atmosphere is whether the vulgar visceral rhetoric of the left against Republicans or Trump
supporters is causing people like Hodgkinson to take violent action.
Professor of Media Arts at the Art Institute of Washington, Dr. John Griffin, tweeted of Republican Congressmen, "They should be lined up and shot." This Democrat Socialist Club of the University of Georgia responded by tweeting, "This is absolutely outrageous! House Republicans should not be shot! They should be guillotined." When called out on it, the professor apologized and the Socialists in Georgia said it was a joke. But it's no joke to people like Hodgkinson. The visceral words of the left are then weaponized, whether or not they are considered hate speech. Jesus said in Matthew 15:11, "Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." We should point out to others that irrespective of their politics, this hateful speech is inappropriate, offensive, and dangerous.
