TRUMP WATCH: 3.4.17 - Discerning the truth from fake news

Discerning the truth from fake news - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

The news media had a brief setback after an overwhelming majority of Americans responded positively to President Donald Trump's State of the Union speech. But within 24 hours, they are back to their old tricks of making stories out of insinuation and conjecture. Now there is a renewed attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions where the media is trying to make him out as some sort of accomplice with Russian influence over the last election. The New York Times is doing a nice little fake news job on Sessions with a story about how the previous "president's" aides were scrambling in the last days of that Administration to provide an intel trail for investigators to prove that the Russians influenced the election.

Enter the left's public enemy number 1: Jeff Sessions. During Sessions' confirmation hearing, Senator Al Franken (D-Mn) planted the seed by asking, "if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?" Sessions answered: "Senator Franken, I'm not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians, and I'm unable to comment on it." The Washington Post is also fake newsing with a story claiming Sessions met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak at a Heritage Foundation event in July 2016.

The meeting was at an event where several Ambassadors were present. Another meeting with Kislyak occurred in Sessions' capacity on the Senate Armed Service Committee in September. The Post is trying to say that Sessions didn't disclose these meetings during his Senate confirmation hearings. To back its claim, the Post says Sessions was asked by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) if he had "been in contact with anyone connected to any part of the Russian government about the 2016 election, either before or after election day." Sessions answered "no." Both the Post and the Times center their fake news story on the implication that Sessions represented the Trump Campaign during meetings on that topic with the Russian Ambassador, downplaying or omitting that the meetings were normal course of conducting his Senate business.

Sessions, during his confirmation hearing, denied meeting Kislyak as a representative of the Trump campaign. Since, Sessions' office has denied such meetings were connected to the campaign. Notwithstanding, the Democrats in Congress, such as Nancy Pelosi, are using the stories to call for Sessions' resignation, saying he perjured himself. See how fake news works? The media insinuates unrelated events are linked which are used by political opposition to imply guilt. Jesus said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." These media outlets are purposely deceiving people to prevent Sessions from enforcing laws that the communist left knows will restore order to our nation and block their revolutionary designs.

No outcry back then - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Does anybody remember the ex "president's" Attorney General Eric Holder? You know, the AG who refused to enforce the laws? It started with refusing to allow off shore drilling, a law that Congress passed to open up energy exploration off the Gulf Coast. Then there was the Defense of Marriage Act that the "president" and the AG decided not to enforce or defend. Also call to memory that Black Panthers were allowed to intimidate white voters from casting their Constitutionally guaranteed right to vote. And there was the contempt of Congress by Holder for refusing to testify on his gun running scheme that ended up getting border agents killed. Nothing to see here. No one could get the media interested.

On September 7, 2011 Holder told reporters that reports were untrue linking his department and the White House with the decision to sell guns to Mexican drug runners through Operation Fast and Furious. He claimed they were politically motivated, saying, "The notion that somehow or other this thing reaches into the upper levels of the Justice Department is something that. ... I don't think is supported by the facts. It's kind of something I think certain members of Congress would like to see, the notion that somehow or other high-level people in the department were involved." This is an outright denial that he (Holder) or any other high official knew about the operation, but it was boasted about even on the DOJ website.

On April 2, 2009, Holder gave a speech to the Mexico/United States Arms Trafficking Conference in Cuernavaca, Mexico. His remarks at the time were actually posted on the US Department of Justice's website. He said, "Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner..." Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious were synonymous. CBS News, for example, reported on February 23, 2011 the murder of border agent Brian Terry by a drug cartel thug using an assault rifle traced to Holder's operation.

The Daily Jot detailed several reports of Holder's illegal/unethical antics. 'Didn't hear a peep from the mainstream news media calling for his resignation. Today AG Jeff Sessions has recused himself from 2016 campaign investigations because he met with the Russian Ambassador as part of his job as Senator. Democrats used this fake news story to call for Sessions' ouster. Romans 16:18 describes these people: "For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." Indeed they are deceiving the hearts of the simple. There must be more to the Democrats and Russia that Democrats fear will come out with Sessions on the job. Meantime, the news media is showing its inability to report real news, a failure of its First Amendment right.

 Censorship Attack - Todd Strandberg - http://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/

There is a tremendous battle over the right to freely share information in public and private places. Liberals are banding together to block conservatives and Christians from sharing their views.

On various campuses, the liberal establishment has banned anyone who would dare speak positively of Donald Trump. Because they define Trump as evil, school administrators feel they have a green light to trample on the liberties of others.

Something has gone horribly wrong when you have the younger generation screaming "Fascist," yet have become the very thing they claim to loathe.

A mindset of intolerance has been normalized amongst the left, promoted by the media, even accepting violence in order to "stomp out" those  who are targeted as "hatemongers."

The liberal media has become so convinced that it's their job to tell the public what to think, those very words are starting to come out of their mouths. In a discussion about fears that President Donald Trump is "trying to control the media," MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski slipped up and said that controlling "exactly what people think" is her job (and that of the rest of the media).

There is such a suppression of freedom in this country  that can find themselves in instant trouble for the most casual remark. Comedian Steven Martin was recently criticized when he posted the following note in the wake of Carrie Fisher's death:

"When I was a young man, Carrie Fisher was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She turned out to be witty and bright as well," said Martin. His sin was failing to match up her beauty and wittiness.

Offending other people's cultures is another depravity that will force celebrities to issue apologies. Hilary Duff and Chris Hemsworth both had to beg for forgiveness when photos showed each of them dressed as Native Americans at costume parties. Justin Timberlake was accused of cultural appropriation after sending a tweet praising actor Jesse Williams' BET Awards speech.

The pettiness of the left puts the average citizen in danger. A Florida Teacher was "reassigned" after she praised Trump's Immigration police on Facebook. Liberal groups have been trying to get L.L. Bean to remove Linda Bean from the company's board of directors just because she donated $30,000 to a pro-Trump Political Action Committee. It is disgusting to have arrived at the point where people can't freely express their political views without being confronted by Nazi stormtroopers.

Web-based organizations are also under attack from the left. The Gatestone Institute is a non-partisan think tank that's dedicated to educating the public about what the mainstream media fails to report. Last week, the president of GI sent out a letter that described the opposition with which the organization was having to deal:

Gatestone Institute has recently come under smear campaigns from both extremist websites and the mainstream media. Facebook has repeatedly obstructed Gatestone content - sometimes with outright acts of censorship. Google has restricted our access to its Google News platform, and banned us from using its advertising platform.

I've noticed suppression from Google against Rapture Ready and many other prophecy sites. In the past couple months the rankings for prophecy sites has been dropping. If you type the word "Rapture" in the search window at Google, the top results are now general references and old news articles. Rapture Ready should be in top three like it is on Yahoo and Bing. Chris of Rapture Forums told me his site was listed on page 12. It should be in the top 20 sites.

Alex Jones has posted several videos on the censorship attack against conservative sites. He created a site to fight to protect the First Amendment. It's called the Coalition to Defend Free Speech. What I found interesting is that the Coalition to Defend Free Speech does not show up on Google. You have to go to Yahoo or Bing to find it.

The website NaturalNews.com has been totally blocked by Google. I don't agree with some of this site's views, but I don't think a search engine should be able use monopolistic powers to set itself up as an Orwellian arbiter of truth.  Mike Adams runs NaturalNews and he has created a Petition page that will be used to get the attention of the White House. Please sign-up and make your voices heard. Here is the link: Petition to Ban Google's Blatant Suppression of Free Speech.

It is ironic that the company founded under the mantra "Don't be evil" is now doing the devil's bidding. If Google is going to block people from finding accurate search results, it will find soon itself as the K-Mart of search engines.

When President Trump said the media are the "enemy of the people," he was absolutely correct. I truly believe that Satan spends more time in the media headquarters of New York than he does in the political capitals of Washington D.C.

If the American people fail to rise up and put the media in its place we're going to eventually find ourselves living in a North Korea type dictatorship. About 99 percent of the North Korean citizens believe that (fat boy) Kim Jong-Un is a god because that's all they hear from the state controlled media.

The American press has already poisoned the minds of 50 percent of the country. They are dead set on getting the other half. If the Rapture occurs soon, they may get their chance.

"And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved" (Matthew 24:11-13).

Blind opposition vs the promise of hope - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Proverbs 23:7 says, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." And Jesus said in Luke 6:45, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." Words and actions mean things. The State of the Union speech delivered by President Donald Trump provided Americans with both words and actions to discern the hearts of those elected to represent us, and what the future holds. In the text of Trump's address are words of hope, encouragement, restoration, protection, safety, order and greatness. In the actions of those in the chamber are the battle lines of blind opposition.

Trump delivered a marvelous vision of a new old America-a vision where our Constitutional Republic represents Americans, puts our nation first, is aimed at creating jobs, stirring enterprise, treating all equally and just under the law. He said in his opening, "Each American generation passes the torch of truth, liberty and justice-in an unbroken chain all the way down to the present. That torch is now in our hands.  And we will use it to light up the world. I am here tonight to deliver a message of unity and strength, and it is a message deeply delivered from my heart." The chamber of Congress often erupted in applause and a standing ovation throughout the speech, except for the Democrats, who sat with scowls.

Trump encouraged Americans with the hope of job creation, public safety, law and order, representing Americans not the world, reaffirming our commitment to Israel, fighting "radical Islamic terrorism," protecting our businesses with fair trade as well as free trade, immigration reform and protecting citizens from violent illegal immigrants, rebuilding the American infrastructure, improving our military, supporting our veterans, improving our school systems, repealing/replacing socialist healthcare, and more. Trump painted a positive and hopeful vision for America. The Democratic Party representatives sat stoically, even hissing at the president and giving him a thumbs down. Democratic Party women wore white to protest Trump's plans to defund Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider. Wearing white to promote death. Wow!

Trump said, "Everything that is broken in our country can be fixed. Every problem can be solved. And every hurting family can find healing, and hope. Our citizens deserve this, and so much more-so why not join forces to finally get it done? On this and so many other things, Democrats and Republicans should get together and unite for the good of our country, and for the good of the American people...When we have all of this, we will have made America greater than ever before. For all Americans. This is our vision. This is our mission. But we can only get there together. We are one people, with one destiny. We all bleed the same blood. We all salute the same flag. And we are all made by the same God." From the Democrat side--again nothing. In their hearts, they disagree with this mission and vision. It's blind opposition, the sightline into their hearts.

The rancid press and the void of truth - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

A wise man once told me to never pick a fight with a man who buys his ink by the barrel, yet this is exactly what President Donald Trump has done, or has he? In reality, it was the press that picked a fight with the American people and Trump is standard-bearer for those who have been lied to, massaged, brainwashed by a decided socialist news media against all things American. From the news media's viewpoint, unless it's socially just, it's wrong, and all things are socially unjust, especially if they have anything to do with common sense and traditional values. Think of the foul-mouthed, bombastic approach that has been taken. Yet, Trump is being blamed openly by the media for what they call self-inflicted wounds.

At CPAC, Trump explained: "A few days ago I called the fake news the enemy of the people. And they are. They are the enemy of the people. Because they have no sources, they just make 'em up when there are none. I saw one story recently where they said, "Nine people have confirmed." There're no nine people. I don't believe there was one or two people...I know who they talk to. There were no nine people... They make up sources. They're very dishonest people. In fact, in covering my comments, the dishonest media did not explain that I called the fake news the enemy of the people. The fake news. They dropped off the word "fake." And all of a sudden, the story became the media is the enemy."

During the very early days of the Reagan Administration, I was a Washington, DC correspondent for a major newswire. I shared office space with many other news entities. Often at the end of the day, the correspondents would sit around the office having a drink and talk about their news stories, essentially comparing notes. I learned from listening to those discussions that unnamed sources were sometimes, if not often, the journalists themselves speculating on various news events. One time, I spoke up about a story they knew I was working on exclusively. I purposely misled them. The next day, it showed up on the front page of the Washington Post, quoting me as a "source close to the story." Of course, it was totally wrong information and these old salts were quite surprised when my story broke with the real news.

Fake news is not new to this generation. It is a staple of lazy reporters with agendas. They have been doing it for generations. The problem we have today is that reporters have been trained to believe that their leftist beliefs are the truth and all things must be measured against their particular truth. We therefore have a media that just writes stories from the lens of socialism. It's generally fake news. Most of what you read and see is twisted. When a free press is dedicated to an agenda, it is part of the problem, not the solution. Trump is right to try to hold accountability. We as citizens must also hold accountability. How? Measure it against the Holy Scriptures. In John 17:17, Jesus prayed the Father to "Sanctify them through thy word; thy word is truth." Find the baseline of events in the word and discern truth properly. It will set you free.

 A Cautionary Tale - By Hal Lindsey - http://www.hallindsey.com/ww-2-24-2017/

At a campaign-style rally in Florida last week, President Trump used Sweden as an example of what happens when immigration policies become too lax.  He said, "We've got to keep our country safe.  You look at what's happening in Germany, you look at what's happening last night in Sweden.  Sweden, who would believe this?  Sweden.  They took in large numbers.  They're having problems like they never thought possible."

The media focused on the words, "last night," but nothing out of the ordinary happened in Sweden the night before Mr. Trump's remarks.  Some Swedes felt offended by the remark, and struck back.  Former Swedish Prime Minister, Carl Bildt, tweeted, "Sweden?  Terror attack?  What has he been smoking?"

Speaking on the Fox News program, The Five, Bob Beckel seemed on the verge of losing control, yelling, "This president flat-out lied!"  But President Trump never said there had been a terrorist incident in Sweden the night before.  It's easy to see how people got that impression, but they inferred it.  He did not say it.

Later, the President tweeted an explanation.  "My statement as to what's happening in Sweden was in reference to a story that was broadcast on @FoxNews.com concerning immigrants & Sweden."

Beyond the smoke and dust of the bruhaha over exactly what he meant, there is an extremely important point.  Sweden's immigration policy over the last 40 years stands as a cautionary tale for all nations.  Sweden has long been a peaceful and prosperous nation.  They used extremely controversial means to achieve their success, but they have had a lot of it.  A 2005 commentary in the liberal London newspaper, The Guardian, called Sweden, "The most successful society the world has ever known."

That statement has never really been true of Sweden, but it shows the regard in which it was held not so long ago, particularly among liberals.  Today things have changed.  And the problem, as President Trump was trying to point out, largely traces back to irresponsible immigration policies.

In 1975, the Swedish Parliament decided to bring in massive numbers of Muslims from the Middle East.  Since then, violent crime has risen 300%!

The number of rapes reported to police increased 1,472% - from 421 in 1975 to 6,620 in 2014.  Sweden now has the highest per capita incidence of rape of any major nation on earth.  A survey by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, an official government agency, shows that less than 25% of rapes in Sweden are even reported to police.  Lest you think these are domestic issues, their study also found that, "In 58% of cases, the perpetrator was entirely unknown by the victim."

In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, prominent Swedish politicians, Jimmie Akesson and Mattias Karlsson, wrote, "Mr. Trump did not exaggerate Sweden's current problems.  If anything, he understated them."

Just a couple of days after the President's remarks, riots broke out in an immigrant neighborhood of Stockholm.  They set vehicles on fire, threw objects at police, damaged buildings, and looted businesses.  The same area saw riots in 2010 and 2013.

As a Christian minister, part of my job is to point out the vast differences between the Gospel and other systems of thought, including Islam.  But the United States government does not have my job.  It can't take sides among religious faiths.  Yet, it must keep U.S. citizens as safe as it can while adhering to the Constitution, the law, and our nation's core principles.

Here's the bottom line.  The United States government doesn't need to address the relative merits or demerits of Islam.  But it does need to carefully vet anyone who wants to enter this country from a nation known to be a hotbed of terrorism.

The White House has said that President Trump will probably issue a new version of his executive order on immigration sometime next week.  The original order is tied up in the courts.  It singled out seven nations - Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.  It was not a travel ban from these countries, but a 90-day pause.  We can expect the new order to cover the same countries.

These nations are all predominantly Muslim.  But the order was not a Muslim ban.  The Obama Administration had already named these seven as "countries of concern."  President Obama was not singling them out because they are predominantly Muslim, but because they are hotbeds of terrorism, and because of the difficulty in vetting people from these countries.

The Trump Administration took it a step further.  It said it needs a 90-day pause in which to figure out how to safely allow immigration from these trouble spots.  On a recent Hal Lindsey Report, I explained the reasons behind the choice of nations.  "Each of them is known to have large numbers of terrorists and terrorist-sympathizers at every level of their societies.  Six of the seven are either in the midst of, or in the immediate aftermath of, civil war.  The seventh is the world's most prolific state-sponsor of terrorism - Iran."

The new Administration needs time to find ways to appropriately vet people from nations in the middle of such chaos.  And, to use the President's words, it should be "extreme vetting."  We know that ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other terrorists regularly move among nations as immigrants.  So, we must use every precaution.  We don't want them to bring here the kind of chaos they say they're trying to leave behind.

Remember Sweden.
