WORLD AT WAR: 10.30.15 - Iran marches, Russia rules, Obama watches

Iran marches, Russia rules, Obama watches - By Charles Krauthammer -
http://www.post-gazette.com/opinion/Op-Ed/2015/10/24/Charles-Krauthammer-Iran-marches-Russia-rules-Obama-watches/stories/201510240026

Guess who just popped up in the Kremlin? Bashar al-Assad, Syrian dictator and destroyer, now Vladimir Putin's newest pet.

After four years holed up in Damascus, Assad was summoned to Russia to bend a knee to Mr. Putin, show the world that today Middle East questions get settled not in Washington but in Moscow, and officially bless the Russian-led four-nation takeover of Syria now underway.

Does the bewildered Obama administration finally understand what Russia is up to?

President Barack Obama says Russia is doomed to fail in the Syrian quagmire. But Russia is not trying to reconquer the country for Assad. It's consolidating a rump Syrian state on the roughly 20 percent of the country he now controls, the Alawite areas stretching north and west from Damascus through Latakia and encompassing the Russian naval base at Tartus.

It's a partition. It will leave the Islamic State in control in the interior north and east. Why is this doomed to failure?

Mr. Putin's larger strategy is also obvious. He is not reconstructing the old Soviet empire. That's too large a task. But he is rebuilding and reasserting Russia's ability to project power beyond its borders. Annexing Crimea restores to the motherland full control of the warm water Black Sea port that Russia has coveted since Peter the Great. Shoring up a rump Alawite state secures Russia's naval and air bases in the eastern Mediterranean. Add to that Russia's launching advanced cruise missiles from warships in the Caspian Sea to strike Syrian rebels 900 miles away and you have the most impressive display of Russian military reach since the Cold War.

For Mr. Obama, of course, these things don't matter. "In today's world," he told the United Nations last month, "the measure of strength is no longer defined by the control of territory." That he clearly believes this fantasy was demonstrated by his total abandonment of Iraq, forfeiting U.S. bases from which we could have projected power in the region (most notably preventing, through control of Iraqi airspace, the Iranian rearming and reinforcement of Assad's weakening regime).

While Mr. Obama counts on the arc of the moral universe bending toward justice, Mr. Putin acts. As soon as the ink was dry on the Iran nuclear deal, Iran's Qasem Soleimani flew to Moscow (a sanctions violation that we blithely ignored) to plan the multinational Syria campaign he is now directing. His Shiite expeditionary force is composed of Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Iraqi Shiite militias and Lebanese Hezbollah fighting under the cover of Russian airpower.

They are pounding non-Islamic State rebels, many equipped, trained and allegedly supported by the United States and Mr. Obama's vaunted 60-nation coalition. What a comfort to be pulverized by 60 to 90 Russian airstrikes each day but to know that Belgium is with you.

The immediate Russian objective is to retake Aleppo, the eastern part of which is the rebels' last remaining urban stronghold.

Russia is not fighting the Islamic State. On the contrary. Its attacks on the anti-government, anti-Islamic State rebels have allowed the Islamic State to expand, capturing rebel-held villages north of Aleppo, even as the Shiite expeditionary force approaches from the south.

Apart from the wreckage to Mr. Obama's dreams of a "reset" with Russia, think of how these advances mock Mr. Obama's dreams for Iran, namely that the nuclear deal would moderate Iranian behavior.

What has happened since the signing of the deal in July? Iran convicts an American journalist of espionage, contemptuously refusing to offer even the most minimal humanitarian gesture. Iran brazenly tests a nuclear-capable ballistic missile that our own U.N. ambassador said violates Security Council resolutions. And now Iran's most notorious Revolutionary Guard commander takes control of a pan-Shiite army trying to decimate our remaining allies in the Syrian civil war.

Mr. Obama's response to all this? Nothing. He has washed his hands of the region, still the center of world oil production and trade, and still the world's most volatile region, seething with virulent jihadism ready for export. When you call something a quagmire you have told the world that you're out and staying out. Russia and Iran will have their way.

"60 Minutes" asked Mr. Obama: Are you concerned about yielding leadership to Russia? Mr. Obama responded dismissively: Propping up a weak ally is not leadership. I'm leading the world on climate change.

Upon hearing that, anyone in any conflict anywhere who has put his trust in the United States should start packing his bags for Germany.

 Russia-Iran alliance tactical, not strategic - http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Analysis-Russia-Iranian-alliance-tactical-not-strategic-430057

Russia seeks to solidify Assad's regime in an Alawite mini-state in the face of a Sunni onslaught funded by Gulf States.

Christian Russia and Shi'ite Iran's military alliance to help keep Syrian President Bashar Assad in power is fraught with underlying tension, which could be exploited by Israel or the US.

Iran's revolutionary expansionist agenda and its targeting of Israel is at odds with Russia's long-term goals in the region.

Russia seeks to solidify Assad's regime in an Alawite mini-state in the face of a Sunni onslaught funded by Gulf states.

Russia President Vladimir Putin's military buildup and activity in Syria caught the West off guard just as he did in other hot spots, such as Ukraine and Georgia. Putin is also filling in the vacuum of a retreating US in the region.

Iranian and other allied Shi'ite militia forces including Hezbollah, were not able to prop up Assad's military alone and needed Russia's help.

This leaves Russia as the most powerful player in Syria, and because its strategic interests do not entirely coincide with those of Iran's Shi'ite axis, Israel and the US could seek some kind of deal or accommodation with Russia that would limit the Shi'ite axis.

Harold Rhode, a senior fellow at the New York-based Gatestone Institute and a former adviser at the Pentagon, told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday that Russian and Iranian long-term interests in Syria, and elsewhere, diverge.

"Russia does not trust Iran," he said.

"Russia doesn't want Iran to be an equal partner in Syria. Russia wants to rule the roost."

Iran is trying to turn Alawites into Shi'ites, asserted Rhode, adding that Russia looks on this negatively.

For Russia, he said, the more members of the anti-Sunni coalition the better. "This is Russia's traditional approach - divide and conquer."

Foreign correspondent Yaroslav Trofimov said in The Wall Street Journal over the weekend that tensions could arise between Russia and Iran "if the fighting doesn't go as planned in the coming months - and later if peace talks on how to divide the spoils of war become serious."

Col. (Res.) Dr. Eran Lerman, a senior research associate at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University, said in a recent report, "For Moscow, Assad is a client to be saved from the gallows.

For Iran, Syria is a key stepping-stone on the road to destabilizing Jordan; and, as Ayatollah Khamenei has ordered, to 'turning the West Bank into the next Gaza.'" In his report, Lerman argued that Russia's mission implies that it "has actually come to terms with the reality of a country irretrievably carved into separate domains."

"Putin's concern for Assad's survival could give Israel some policy leverage, if Israel astutely navigates its way through the situation," said Lerman, adding, "This means that Israel should not be tempted to support Saudi-led efforts to unseat Assad or otherwise bring about a decisive outcome in Syria's civil war."

Rhode says "Russia does not want a powerful Iran running an alliance in the Middle East near Russia's borders."

Iran pushes the "anti-non-Muslim agenda" worldwide, explained Rhode. For example, Iran is active in Russia as well, stirring up anti-Russian anti-non-Muslim sentiment, he said.

In a telling anecdote, in 1989, the Islamic Republic's founder, Ayatollah Khomeini, sent a letter to former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev inviting him to convert to Islam.

Russia prefers Muslims to be occupied fighting each other instead of turning their angst against non-Muslim Russia, continued Rhode.

"One third of Moscow is Muslim," and Putin has told various foreign leaders that he sees himself as the protector of Russian culture, he said.

Russia and Iran "are tactical allies, not strategic partners."

Russia is working on modernizing a S-300 missile defense system for Iran, Rosoboronexport General Director Anatoly Isaikin told journalists Tuesday, according to Sputnik. Rosoboronexport is the Russian state's intermediary agency for exports/imports of defense-related and dual use products, technologies and services.

The S-300 is a series of initially Soviet and later Russian long range surface-to-air missile systems, first deployed by the Soviet Union in 1979, designed for the air defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, military bases, and control of airspace against enemy strike aircraft. Subsequent variations were developed to intercept ballistic missiles.

Once the delivery is made, Iran will presumably retract its $4 billion suit against Russia for the S-300 missile systems that were not delivered earlier. It was rumored at the time that Russia agreed to withhold the delivery as part of a natural gas distribution deal with Israel. "We have agreed with Iran on retracting the suit," Isaikin said.

"The completion of the contract on the S-300 missile system for Iran was suspended and we've been given the order to renew work and as the executors, we are doing this, but much time has gone by and the S-300 system has changed so we're working on the modernization of the system," Isaikin said.

Something major is brewing in northwest Syria.

The Assad regime has been back on the attack in recent days. The fighting is focused on the area of Aleppo, Syria's second-largest city. Russian air strikes and regime artillery are backing up the troops of President Bashar Assad's army as they push back the rebels in northeastern Aleppo province.

Meanwhile, as regime forces pressure the rebels of Jabhat al-Shamiyya (Levant Front) from the south, seeking to encircle Aleppo city, Islamic State fighters are attacking them from the north.

The fighting in Aleppo province comes alongside a renewed regime push forward in northern Hama province.

In Aleppo, the initial goal of the regime forces is the long-standing one of encircling Aleppo city. The regime then intends to push on to link up with the two besieged Shi'a villages of Nubl and Zahra. If this is achieved, the ability of the rebels to supply their beleaguered forces in Aleppo city from across the border in Turkey via the route south from Azaz will be terminated.

The regime advances represent a reversal of the trend in the war since the beginning of 2015.

The current fighting, however, appears to be merely a prelude to an upcoming, much larger offensive.

Energetic preparations are under way in the regime stronghold in Latakia province.

The intention of this offensive will be to end the long and bloody back-andforth in northwest Syria by finally destroying the rebel holdings in Idlib and Aleppo provinces. If this goal is achieved, the area of regime control will then border Islamic State at its western edge.

Russian air power is set to play a key role in the fighting in northwest Syria. Largescale bombing has already taken place in Idlib and Hama provinces.

The key issue in the coming battles, however, will be the ground component.

Assad's main disadvantage throughout the civil war has been the absence of a sufficient number of men willing to engage on his behalf.

It was this shortage of men that led to the withdrawal from much of northern Syria in 2012, which he and his allies are now trying to reverse. The Syrian dictator proved unable to replenish the losses from among his own people. And, in contrast to his Sunni Islamist opponents, there was no pool of ideologically motivated volunteers from the region and beyond it interested in coming to serve under his banner.

But the long-standing regime alliance with the Islamic Republic of Iran has played the key role in preventing this key deficiency from turning to disaster. Iran has throughout proved willing to mobilize its key regional proxies, bringing in fighters from Hezbollah and from the Shi'a militias of Iraq to fight on the ground for the regime. In addition, the Iranians have trained new formations of Alawi paramilitary forces for Assad, giving him a ground component more reliable than the largely Sunni conscript army.

It appears that Iranian support will be crucial in the upcoming offensive as well.

According to a report in the Kuwaiti Al-Rai newspaper, 2,000 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have arrived in Latakia, along with 2,000 Iraqi Shi'a militiamen, 2,000 Afghan Shi'a fighters and 1,000 men from the elite forces of Hezbollah.

These men are set to be deployed in the fighting in Idlib and Aleppo in the period ahead.

Will Assad's offensive succeed? This depends on how success is defined. The rebels are not helpless. The major forces of Jaish al-Fatah (Army of Conquest) have yet to fully engage. And where engagements have taken place, there have already been some setbacks for the regime. A number of armored vehicles were lost to the rebels' BGM-71 Tow antitank missile systems in the fighting in north Hama. Supplies are still coming in for the rebels from across the Turkish border. Qatari, Saudi and Turkish support is still there. The regime/Russian/ Iranian side will face a determined and well-motivated foe.

Russian and Iranian assistance nevertheless looks likely to succeed in ending the immediate threat to the integrity of the regime enclave in Latakia. It is also possible that the gains made earlier this year by the rebels in Idlib and Aleppo provinces will be reversed. Perhaps the strategic town of Jisr al-Shughur and Idlib city and even Aleppo city will return to regime hands.

But the fundamental problem for the regime, which has beset it since the beginning of the war, will then resurface: how to hold these areas, where the Sunni Arab population absolutely rejects the regime.

The Assad regime may have surprised some with its vigor, but after four years of bloody civil war, the rebellion, too, shows no signs of running out of steam - or out of fighters.

So unless the Iranians are willing to maintain a more or less permanent occupation of northern Syria, using proxies or even their own men, in the face of ongoing Sunni jihadi resistance, it is difficult to see how Assad can hold, in the long term, what he may conquer in the period immediately ahead.

Still, as of now, the IRGC men and the Iraqis are arriving at the Basel Assad International Airport in Latakia. Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani is in the country, coordinating preparations on the ground. Hezbollah reinforcements are crossing in from Lebanon. Assad's autumn offensive appears to be about to begin.

Islamic invasion of US and Europe - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

The score-plus of wars in the Middle East have done something that the Ottoman Empire, the last Islamic caliphate, was unable to do--invade Europe and the US without firing a shot. Hundreds of thousands of Islamists are entering Europe and the US as war refugees, a resettlement directed by the pro-Islamic United Nations. This invasion by Islam contains peaceful families that want to get out of war torn areas as well as militant terrorists embedded in the population and disguised as refugees. Neither European nor US officials can separate the two. But one thing for certain: these are not folks who are going to embrace the US or European culture and assimilate. They are death-cult colonists.

Jeremiah 51:14 speaks of the Lord's judgment of Babylon for its enthusiastic destruction of His people, saying: "Surely I will fill thee with men, as with locusts; and they shall raise a battle cry against thee." The US and Europe are not Babylon, but both match some of the descriptors written by Jeremiah of sinning against the Lord, the habitation of justice. Both the US and Europe have advocated in the strongest terms the division of the land of Israel and have accepted the lies of Islam, those who wish to not only occupy the land of Israel, but to destroy the Jewish people. There are consequences to the actions of leaders, and Europe and the US have been cause to the current invasion. The West is being resettled.

Where Islam goes, crime, violence and destruction follow like that of the locust. WorldNetDaily reports that Austrians are arming themselves at record rates to defend themselves from anticipated attacks by Muslim invaders, but obtaining a firearm and ammunition in Germany, Britain, Denmark and the Netherlands is practically impossible for the average citizen. And self-defense is not even a valid reason to purchase a gun in these countries. The New York Times reports that Australia's former prime minister Tony Abbott warned in London that the continent risked "fundamentally weakening itself" through "misguided altruism" as large numbers of asylum seekers arrive, and that these countries are "now in peril."

The legal immigrants who built America came to the US for opportunity and freedom. They assimilated as Americans, the ideal of what being American means. They adopted our language, our work ethic, our customs, our spirit of exceptionalism, our laws and our dreams of making the world a better place. The vast majority of those coming in today have no intention of becoming "American." They have come to colonize and impose. This presents a quandary for the Church. Exodus 22:21 says, "You shall neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him." Also, Numbers 15:16 says, "One law and one ordinance shall be for you and the stranger that sojourns with you." These "immigrants," legal or illegal, are here. We need to deal with it. There are laws that need to be followed and the gospel needs to be shared. With the peril there is opportunity.

Iran to send 'fleet of warships' to the Atlantic Ocean - http://www.timesofisrael.com/iran-to-send-fleet-of-warships-to-the-atlantic-ocean/

Tehran's navy chief says vessels will 'soon berth' at Atlantic ports

Iran intends to dispatch "a fleet of warships" to the Atlantic Ocean shortly, the semi-state Fars news agency reported Thursday, quoting the regime's navy chief.

"Our warships will soon berth at ports in the Atlantic Ocean," Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari promised at a ceremony on Wednesday marking the return to port of Iranian warships that Fars said had taken part in joint drills with the Russian navy.

Sayyari said the Iranian vessels had been in the Caspian Sea and at the Russian port of Astrakhan. "The presence of Iranian warships in international ports shows the Iranian Navy's prowess," Fars quoted him saying.

Sayyari made a similar pledge to deploy warships in the Atlantic in early 2014. At the time, Iran promised to send its fleet close to American maritime borders as a counter to the US navy's presence in the Gulf. But in April, the navy chief said the move had been canceled "due to a change in schedule."

The US-Iran relationship remains tense and friction-filled, despite the US-led world powers' deal with Iran, sealed in July, on curbing its nuclear program.

Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei has repeatedly rejected any future talks on other issues, and ruled out normalization with the United States.

The former Iranian president Hashemi Rafsanjani was reported to have admitted this week that the country's nuclear program was started with the intent of building a nuclear weapon, with the express consent and participation of Khamenei. "Our basic doctrine was peaceful usage of the nuclear technology although we never abandoned the idea that if one day we are threatened and it is imperative, we would have the capability for going the other path [to nuclear weapon] as well," Rafsanjani reportedly said.

THE EARTH GROANS: 10.30.15 - Why Is This Happening? Unprecedented Flooding Has Hit The U.S. Within The Last 30 Days

Why Is This Happening? Unprecedented Flooding Has Hit The U.S. Within The Last 30 Days - By Michael Snyder -
http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/why-is-this-happening-unprecedented-flooding-has-hit-the-u-s-within-the-last-30-days

Over the past 30 days, major floods have hit the east coast, the west coast and now the middle part of the country.  So why is this happening?  Why is the U.S. being hit by so many catastrophic weather events all of a sudden?  During the past month flooding has caused billions of dollars in damage, and in many areas the clean up is going to take well into next year.  Some pundits are blaming El Nino, but others are pointing to other potential reasons for why this may be happening.  Let's start by taking a look at some of the biggest flood events that have happened over the past 30 days...

Hurricane Joaquin never made landfall on the east coast, but moisture from the storm had a tremendous impact - particularly in South Carolina.  In fact, the governor of the state said that the region had not seen that type of rain "in a thousand years"...

"We haven't had this level of rain in the low-country in a thousand years - that's how big this is," said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Days of record rainfall and catastrophic flooding left at least seventeen people dead in South Carolina and two dead in North Carolina, Oct. 6, 2015. Thirteen dams have failed.

It would be very difficult to overstate the amount of damage that was caused by this storm.  Some officials are estimating that the total amount of economic damage done "will probably be in the billions of dollars"...

The rains may have stopped in South Carolina, but the danger and the work to rebuild are far from over.

"I believe that things will get worse before they get better," Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin told reporters Monday.

"Eventually the floods will abate, but then we have to access the damage, and I anticipate that damage will probably be in the billions of dollars, and we're going to have to work to rebuild. Some peoples' lives as they know them will never be the same," he said.

Of course this is far from the only destructive flooding event that we have seen in recent weeks.

Out in California they have been getting hit with disaster after disaster.  First, the wildfire season came very close to setting a national record this year, and it was particularly bad out west.  The following comes from USA Today...

The amount of land burned by wildfires in the U.S. this year has surpassed 9 million acres, according to data released Thursday by the National Interagency Fire Center.

This is only the fourth time on record the country has reached the 9 million-acre mark, center spokesman Randall Eardley said in an e-mail. The area burned is roughly equivalent to the size of New Jersey and Connecticut combined.

All of the top years for acres burned have occurred since 2000, Eardley said. The worst year occurred in 2006, with 9.8 million acres. In 2007 and 2012, 9.3 million acres were burned, he said. If another 800,000 acres are burned this year, an all-time record would be set.

I have a feeling that when the final numbers are all in and tallied that 2015 will end up setting an all-time record for wildfires.

But after a really dry, hot summer, southern California got surprised by a deluge of heavy rain this month and the results were absolutely catastrophic.  The following comes from Fox News...

A flood of mud and debris triggered by heavy rainfall in Southern California rushed onto streets and highways Thursday, stranding hundreds in their cars and closing a major interstate.

Nearly 40 miles of Interstate 5 north in Los Angeles were still closed Friday afternoon after heavy rainfall sent mud, debris and even boulders streaming into the north-south running freeway, according to the California Department of Transportation.

Some people, stuck in up to 5 feet of mud, were forced to camp overnight in their vehicles, according to NBC Los Angeles. Pictures on social media showed some cars submerged in debris up to the windshields.

Authorities are still digging people out from this mess several days later.  In fact, the dead body of one man was just pulled out of a van that had been encased in several feet of mud...

Southern California fire crews discovered a man's body Tuesday inside a van that had been buried under several feet of mud after a flash flood overran a road near Los Angeles last week.

And just over this past weekend, the middle part of the country has had to deal with tremendous flooding as well.  Hurricane Patricia turned out to be the world's strongest hurricane since at least 1970, and the remnants of this storm are hitting the state of Texas quite hard.

The small town of Powell, Texas got 20 inches of rain in just 30 hours, and a Union Pacific train that was running nearby was derailed by the heavy flood waters...

A Union Pacific freight train carrying cement derailed in Navarro County after a creek overflowed, washing out the tracks. Locomotives and rail cars were pushed on their sides, and a two-person crew was forced to swim to safety.

Repair teams cleared the derailed cars by Sunday morning, but they were not expected to be righted for several hours and a locomotive was not seen being moved until later in the day, Union Pacific spokesman Jeff DeGraff said on Sunday afternoon.

All of this has happened within the past 30 days.

So is there a reason why all of these events have happened?

Of course some people say that it is just a coincidence that all of these storms have hit us in such close proximity.

Others are pointing to the extremely strong El Nino that has developed.  Here is an excerpt from a recent Bloomberg report...

It has choked Singapore with smoke, triggered Pacific typhoons and left Vietnamese coffee growers staring nervously at dwindling reservoirs. In Africa, cocoa farmers are blaming it for bad harvests, and in the Americas, it has Argentines bracing for lower milk production and Californians believing that rain will finally, mercifully fall.

El Nino is back and in a big way.

Its effects are just beginning in much of the world - for the most part, it hasn't really reached North America - and yet it's already shaping up potentially as one of the three strongest El Nino patterns since record-keeping began in 1950. It will dominate weather's many twists and turns through the end of this year and well into next. And it's causing gyrations in everything from the price of Colombian coffee to the fate of cold-water fish.

That certainly doesn't sound promising for the months ahead.

But some climate "experts" are really playing down the impact of El Nino.  Instead, they are attempting to convince us that what we are witnessing is simply the result of "man-made climate change", and they are using this as an opportunity to promote their agenda.

And there are yet others that see a spiritual dimension to all of this.  In fact, there are some out there that believe that all of this flooding could be a sign that the judgment of God on America has begun.

So what do you think?

Do you believe that there is a reason why the U.S. is experiencing so much flooding lately?

Swarm of California Earthquakes Continues a Series of Unusual Events That Began in Late September - By Michael Snyder -
http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/swarm-of-california-earthquakes-continues-a-series-of-unusual-events-that-began-in-late-september

First it was wildfires, then it was unprecedented flooding, and now it is earthquakes.  In the past two weeks alone, more than 400 earthquakes have shaken San Ramon - a small city that sits approximately 45 miles east of San Francisco.  Never before have so many earthquakes been recorded in that area in such a short span of time.  Standing alone, that earthquake swarm may not mean that much.  But when you stand back and look at all of the unusual events that have been happening since late September, a very disturbing picture begins to emerge.

But first, let's talk about this earthquake swarm.  All over the planet, seismic activity seems to be increasing.  According to Volcano Discovery, dozens of volcanoes around the world have recently erupted, and Afghanistan was just hit by a massive 7.5-magnitude quake.  It was one of the worst earthquakes that Afghanistan has ever seen, and it is going to take months to deal with all of the damage.  So that is why it is so alarming that right now there is record breaking earthquake activity just outside of San Francisco...

San Ramon, California, appears to have broken a new earthquake record over the last two weeks: A total of 408 small quakes have shaken the East Bay city, almost four times the record set in 2003 in half the amount of time.

"I've not felt so many tremors in decades," Mark Stone said outside a San Ramon Starbucks on Tuesday morning. "My dog, Gimmel, she's the first one to know a couple of seconds before."

And his dog has been extra alert lately.

The state of California has been seeing a lot of disasters lately.  In late September, tremendous wildfires in the state were making headlines all over the planet.  In fact, Barack Obama formally declared the Valley Fire to be a "major disaster", and federal funding was released to help fight it.  The following is from an NBC News article that was posted on September 23rd...

President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster for the fourth most destructive wildfire in California's history, a blaze that has forced some 12,000 people to evacuate their homes and caused at least three deaths.

Obama signed the declaration Tuesday to release federal funding to help with the Valley Fire, which has been burning north of San Francisco since September 12.

This has been an exceptionally bad year for wildfires nationally.  According to the National Interagency Fire Center, the only time when more acres had burned up to this point in the year was in 2006.  And the truth is that we are just barely behind 2006's record pace.  More fires are still burning right now, and by the time it is all said and done I expect that 2015 will end up surpassing 2006 and will be the worst year for wildfires that we have ever seen.

As I wrote about the other day, we have also witnessed unprecedented flooding in recent weeks as well.  A few days after Obama's disaster declaration in California, the storm that would became known as Hurricane Joaquin developed into a tropical depression on September 28th.

Even though Joaquin never made landfall, moisture from that storm absolutely devastated the east coast.  The governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, said that it was the most rain that her state had seen "in a thousand years"...

Following that, we also witnessed historic flooding in southern California, and the remnants of Hurricane Patricia caused flooding in many parts of Texas.  You can read about the details in my previous article entitled "Why Is This Happening? Unprecedented Flooding Has Hit The U.S. Within The Last 30 Days".

Could it be possible that there is a connection between all of these events?

For a moment, I would like to share with you what I think.  In the legal world, there is always a pronouncement of guilt before punishment is administered, and over the past six months or so the guilt of America has been put on display in some very unusual ways.

One of the ways that we are being shown our guilt is through these undercover Planned Parenthood videos.  I don't believe that it is any accident that they have come out at this time.  The entire world is being shown that we are killing millions of babies, harvesting their organs, selling them off to the highest bidder, and then using these organs in bizarre scientific experiments.

And a new video was released just this week.  In this new video, a Planned Parenthood doctor actually admits that she tries to abort babies in such a way so that their skulls remain intact.  The following comes from Fox News...

A Planned Parenthood doctor laughs as she says she continues to "strive" to deliver an aborted baby with an intact skull and appears to admit participating in partial-birth abortions in the latest undercover video released Tuesday targeting Planned Parenthood.

A woman identified as Dr. Amna Dermish of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas is the focus of the Center for Medical Progress' 11th video, which is purported to have been filmed during a medical conference in October 2014.

"My aim is usually to get the specimens out pretty intact," Dermish says at one point.

Video after video like this has been released, and the American people have responded with tremendous indifference.

Even after our guilt has been put on display for all the world to see, one survey found that only 29 percent of all Americans want to shut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood.  By more than a 2 to 1 margin (65 percent to 29 percent), the American people said that we should continue giving Planned Parenthood hundreds of millions of tax dollars each year.

After I let that number sink in for a bit, I was faced with one inescapable conclusion.

America is done.

America is finished.

America has become Nazi Germany.

And just like Nazi Germany and all other horribly evil regimes throughout history, we are headed for a great day of reckoning.

We are not going to be able to get away with the great crimes against humanity that we have been committing.  A great shaking is coming to this nation, and we are going to deserve every ounce of what is about to happen to us.

The Apocalypse 101

Oftentimes, readers of this blog will contact me with issues they feel are important to address.  Such is the case with this post.  A reader's 16-year-old daughter informed her mother that this was the new course she was taking.  What are your thoughts?  Here are mine:

What do you think of when you hear the word "Apocalypse"?  If you're a Bible-believing Christian, you're likely to define the word as the complete and final destruction of the world, especially as described in the Book of Revelation.  If you're of a secular nature, then the word most likely indicates an event involving destruction or damage on an awesome or catastrophic scale.  And if you're a member of the Millennial Generation then you probably go straight to Zombies.  So, it should come as no surprise that colleges are now offering various courses such as Social Work 290: Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse - Disasters, Catastrophes, and Human Behavior.

This course is the brainchild of Glenn Stutzky, a Senior Clinical Instructor of Social Work at Michigan State University.  While he was devising his course on disaster management and human behaviors in catastrophes, Stutzky's college-age grandson had a piece of advice for him.... "Just don't be boring."

Now, it is only natural that if you're a professor seeking to teach students how to respond in disasters and catastrophes, that you might turn to the Center for Disease Control's website to see what information they might have to support your course.  "There, looking back at me was a girl behind some blinds - she was a zombie," he says.  And that's when his creative juices started flowing.

He and his creative team developed a new approach to online education they're calling MOLIE. It stands for a Multimedia Online Learning Immersive Experience, and while it appears to be doing wonders for student involvement, it is leaving me unsettled.

I applaud the instructor's creative way of teaching his students to explore how society reacts in the midst of devastating circumstances.  And I love the idea of using video and interactive technology to gather information for their research.  And, yes, Stutzky has developed an innovative approach to get his students to work together in specific "real-life" scenarios; by engaging them in the video scenario they discover how they would react.  Some of the information they are provided is encoded. Some of it is garbled and incomplete. But through making decisions, exploring their environment, and solving puzzles, they are supposed to gradually learn more about the unfolding catastrophe and realize that they often have very different responses to it.  All that sounds good, right?

But here is what concerns me about the material in the course.  Imagine you are a student, and there is the information you are presented .... In the Michigan woods, a group of students finds a bloody, unconscious young woman. They go through her backpack and discover a two-way radio but stay well away from her body.  Her arm is wounded and looks badly infected. Maybe she fell and cut herself. Or maybe she's been bitten. After some debate they decide to tie her to a tree. They want to know if she has information, but some fear she could be carrying a deadly virus.  Most groups restrained her until she regained her health. But fearing her reanimation as a zombie, one group decided to decapitate her.

Does that shock you?  It did Glenn Stutzky because he and his team had been sure to include personal items in the girl's backpack to humanize her. In another incident, the team was surprised when groups refused to help a man pounding desperately on the door of their hideout asking for help. "About half the groups didn't let the person in."

I realize that Zombies have been the craze for several years now, along with vampires and wizards.  But, at the risk of sounding out of touch, is this really good for our kids?  I am not a supporter of the whole video game industry, due to the violence and dehumanization that it renders in our kids.  This college course seems to mimic that response.  And is it blurring the line of the true significance of the word "Apocalypse"?  Are we diminishing the seriousness of the subject? What is it that these students are really learning from courses such as this?

Yes, American's fears of the Ebola virus and the ISIS terror group are similar to those of a zombie apocalypse, but in Social Work 290, Stutzky is learning that those fears could be just as dangerous as the threats themselves.  "With Ebola and ISIS, they represent fears of the unknown and evil," Stutzky told Business Insider. "It feels like we're moving into apocalyptic times."

But are they going far enough with what "apocalyptic times" really means?  While doing a little research on apocalyptic literature, I expected to find references to such Biblical books as Revelation, Daniel, Isaiah and Ezekiel, and their use of symbols, images, and numbers to depict future events.

But I also found it interesting that apocalyptic literature is described as writing to disguise the message in images and symbolism, rather than to give the message in plain language.  Further, the symbolism is created to provide an element of mystery about the details of time and place of the future event.

So, maybe it's just my conspiratorial mind, but doesn't this information make you stop and wonder why there has been such an excess of zombie apocalypse movies, TV shows, video games, and books - all generated to capture the fascinated attention of our kids?  And now we have high school and college courses to make it seem even more relevant!

If this whole genre is being created under the apocalyptic theme to "disguise the message" and to keep the future time and place a mystery, should we be reading between the lines?  What are they really trying to tell us?  And even more importantly, how are our kids being conditioned for such a future?

In the Bible, the purpose of such symbolism was not to cause confusion, but rather to instruct and encourage followers of God in difficult times.  But we all know that our students are not given that piece of the puzzle as part of their problem-solving equipment.  They are not taught that The Apocalypse will be the ultimate revealing of God, His wrath, His justice, and, ultimately, His love.  Instead, they appear to be part of a study collecting information on how humans will treat each other .

Does it creep anyone else out, that the Instructor for a college class on Human Behavior during Disasters and Catastrophes would make the following statement:  "We know the science, we know how to [treat Ebola], but my biggest fear is managing the reactions, managing the people, and managing the consequences which will come out of that," he said.

Am I reading too much into it, or is "managing" the operative word in that statement?  The Bible tells us that there will be massive pestilence and death during the apocalyptic End Times.  And we certainly get that message in the proliferation of zombie "entertainment".  But don't we have to ask ourselves where is the message of encouragement and reliance on God in any of these "instructive" endeavors?  And does anyone else find the use of the Zombie theme at the Center for Disease Control just a little disturbing?  I mean, they are supposed to be the leading national public health institute of the United States.  And this is what they choose to represent them?  Seems to me, that the hidden message is that evil will abound and death will reign.... so the only question is, how soon before fiction becomes reality?  Maybe they know something we don't.

Psalm 78:50   He leveled a path for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, But gave over their life to the plague...

Nine Proofs of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture

Nine Proofs of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture - Joseph Chambers - http://www.raptureready.com/featured/chambers/jc187.html

One of the great classic truths preached by the Evangelical and Pentecostal churches for the last 200 years has been the pre-tribulation Rapture. I do not suggest that there were no exceptions, for there were indeed good people who loved and preached Jesus but did not agree with this particular interpretation; however, the Pentecostal Revival, for 100 of those years, has been especially given to the pre-tribulation view.

There are some that suggest that this is escapism, but the opposite has been true. Christians deeply in love with Jesus and enamored with the hope of His immediate return for the church have been driven with compassion to win souls; whether family, friend, or foe. Our message is a twin concern: get ready for the call to the marriage supper and occupy (be salt and light to hold back the antichrist spirit) until He comes. Both parts of this message are absolutely essential for a balance of Biblical presentation.

The Biblical support for a Pre-Tribulation Rapture is indeed overwhelming. Let me share nine (9) reasons why I believe the Rapture must occur before the seven-year tribulation period can begin.

#1 The Church Is To Be Judged Before The Wicked World Is Judged

Rather than positioning the church in the tribulation judgment, the Biblical warning is that judgment begins at the house of God. Privilege is always a factor in determining God's judgment. He said " . . . For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." (St. Luke 12:48b)

Apostle Peter, clearly distinguishing himself as a New Testament leader, warned, "For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: (Remember, it was the Jewish nation that was first to be judged in the First Testament) and if it first begin at us (the Second Testament believers), what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" (Peter 4:17) There is no excuse for anti-Semitism in the Christian church. Our judgment is of a different nature but clearly precedes that of both the Jewish and the God-denying and blaspheming world.

#2 The Bride Of Christ Is To Be Presented Unto Himself In An Exclusive Ceremony Separate From All Other End-Time Events

Redemption is much, much more than fire insurance. The root and foundation of God's love for the world and sending His only begotten Son is a desire to have a family. The family unit is the closest thing on earth to the heart of God, His very nature. The invitation to salvation is an invitation to a marriage feast and establishes a family relationship. Worship in its truest sense is a celebration of that family relationship with our spiritual priest; we celebrate His love until we can celebrate His presence.

#3 His Absolute Promise To Keep His Faithful Bride From The Hour Of Tribulation

The Holy Scripture deals effectively with His assurance that this awful hour is not designed for His chosen. The prophet Isaiah described the final episodes with minute detail: "Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain." (Isaiah 26:19-21)

In the first verse of this quote he identified the Resurrection. Next, he calls for the chosen bride to enter with Him into her chambers (an appropriate nuptial place as she prepares for her presentation to the Groom) to be securely hidden away for a short moment until the wrath or rage of God is finished. The third verse of this text pictures the going forth of God's righteous judgment to finish sin, disclose hidden life styles, and to give an equal response from God's holiness to man's evil actions.

#4 The Pre-Tribulation Rapture Is The Only Reasonable Explanation Of A Time When Some Are Taken And Some Left

No sensible explanation can be given of St. Matthew 24 that excludes the warning of a sudden rapture that catches men unprepared. Jesus warned of the suddenness of that day, that only the Father knows the time and that the day was as Noah's day, where men were eating, drinking, and giving in marriage. Then He said, "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left." (St. Matthew 24:40-41) He concluded the warning by saying: "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." (St. Matthew 24:42)

#5 Then, He Warns Of A Specific Day Coming Unawares Of Which Only Those Watching Shall Escape

These verses are so crucial for establishing this great "Hope of the Church" that we must analyze them closely. "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth? Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:34-36)

Christians are so casual today about what constitutes readiness for the Rapture that they make me tremble. Ask a given Sunday-morning crowd: "How many are ready to go?" And you will find it hard to see the un-lifted hands. Many have not been to church in weeks, maybe never tithe, do not read the Bible more than sporadically; and yet, they feel secure and ready. The only explanation is that we are living in the great apostasy.

#6 The Law Of The Farmer Demands That The Harvest Be Gathered Before The Winter Begins

No vineyard dresser or tiller of the ground would think of laboring through the spring and summer only to leave the ripened harvest in the field as the winter arrives. A wise proverb of Solomon says, "He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame." (Proverb 10:5) It contradicts everything my Father has provided and promised to suggest that He won't gather His harvest of the world until the winter of divine retribution is in full swing.

Isaiah is prolific in describing this harvest out of an impending winter of evil. He prophesied, "The righteous perisheth (escapes), and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away (removed), none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come."

#7 (Isaiah 57:1) The words taken away literally mean to "collect as in harvest".

The next verse is a perfect picture of this harvest, safely cradled in her haven of rest, as evil spreads itself in defiance of the gathering storm. "He (bride) shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness." (Isaiah 57:2) That storm of evil is clearly described in the next three verses.

"But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore. Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom do ye make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?" (Isaiah 57:3-5)

#8 The Holy Scripture Affirms Emphatically That The Antichrist Cannot Be Revealed Until A Restraining Force Is Removed

The church at Thessalonica received this word from Apostle Paul: "And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming."  (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8)

The word "withholdeth" in verse six and "letteth" in verse seven are identical and mean to restrain or hold back. A picture emerges of this great and overwhelming force of evil that is ever ready to spread across God's creation but is restrained because of an even greater power. It is like a reservoir of water held in check by a dam. If the dam is suddenly removed, the waters will flood the valley with great destruction .

#9 The Lord's Absolute Promise To Catch Away His Chosen To Meet Him In The Air

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) What a climactic finish to an exciting search of Holy Scripture. The Lord isn't sending Gabriel or Michael. He is coming Himself.

Conclusion

I believe in honoring all men as commanded by the Word. Those who know and serve Jesus Christ are my brothers and sisters. While we fulfill the above in Christian love, I contend that the Rapture must transpire before the tribulation can begin. The gathering storm has shaken the faith of many. The fire of expectancy, of watching and waiting, of looking for His appearing, has gone out of many lives.

Some are looking to build a kingdom here, while others are looking for great tribulations and planning how not to take the mark. I believe that the bride should look for His appearing, occupy His spiritual and invisible kingdom, and expect to be gone when the great deceiver is having one final fling. "Look up and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." (Luke 21:28b)
