'There's a war coming,' Marine Corps general warns US troops

'There's a war coming,' Marine Corps general warns US troops

Published December 23, 2017
A Marine Corps commandant on Thursday warned U.S. troops stationed in Norway to be prepared for a coming war.
“I hope I’m wrong, but there’s a war coming,” Gen. Robert Neller told them. “You’re in a fight here, an informational fight, a political fight, by your presence.”
"I hope I'm wrong, but there's a war coming. You're in a fight here, an informational fight, a political fight, by your presence."
- Gen. Robert Neller, U.S. Marine Corps commandant
Neller pointed to the near future possibility of Russia and the Pacific theater being the next major areas of conflict.
Sgt. Maj. Ronald Green sounded a similar tone.
"Just remember why you're here," Green said. "They're watching. Just like you watch them, they watch you. We've got 300 Marines up here; we could go from 300 to 3,000 overnight. We could raise the bar."
The warnings came a day before Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told troops at Fort Bragg, N.C., that "storm clouds are gathering" over the Korean Peninsula.
Whether the comments were more than motivational rhetoric remained unclear.
Neller and Green's arrival in Norway coincided with heightened tensions between the U.S. and its NATO allies and Russia. According to Military.com, Russia warned Norway that its decision to host a new unit of U.S. troops through the end of 2018 would negatively affect relations.
"Just remember why you're here. They're watching. Just like you watch them, they watch you. We've got 300 Marines up here; we could go from 300 to 3,000 overnight. We could raise the bar."
- Sgt. Maj. Ronald Green
Norway has insisted having U.S. troops stationed there is merely part of an effort to enhance ties with NATO allies and conduct cold-weather combat operations.
At a Q&A session with the troops in the Norwegian Home Guard base near Trondheim, Neller said that the U.S. could shift its focus from the Middle East to Eastern Europe, citing Russia’s conflicts with Ukraine and Georgia as justification. He told the Marines that they should be prepared for a “big-ass fight” on the horizon.
Russia has reportedly been uneasy about the presence of American troops close to its borders. The 300 U.S. Marines deployed to Norway in June 2016 were the first foreign troops allowed to operate in the country since World War II.
In September of this year, Russia conducted a joint-military exercise with neighboring Belarus that involved 12,700 troops.
A new National Security Strategy unveiled by the Trump administration on Monday singled out Russia and China as two world powers challenging “American power, influence, and interests, attempting to erode American security and prosperity.”

Mattis: 'Storm clouds gathering' over Korean Peninsula

Published December 22, 2017
"Storm clouds are gathering" over the Korean Peninsula, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis declared Friday. And as diplomats try to resolve the nuclear standoff, he told soldiers that the U.S. military must do its part by being ready for war.
Without forecasting a conflict, Mattis emphasized that diplomacy stands the best chance of preventing a war if America's words are backed up by strong and prepared armed forces.
"My fine young soldiers, the only way our diplomats can speak with authority and be believed is if you're ready to go," Mattis told several dozen soldiers and airmen at the 82nd Airborne Division's Hall of Heroes, his last stop on a two-day pre-holiday tour of bases to greet troops.
Mattis' comments came as the U.N. Security Council unanimously approved tough new sanctions against North Korea, compelling nations to sharply reduce their sales of oil to the reclusive country and send home all North Korean expatriate workers within two years. Such workers are seen as a key source of revenue for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's cash-strapped government.
President Donald Trump and other top U.S. officials have made repeated threats about U.S. military action. Some officials have described the messaging as twofold in purpose: to pressure North Korea to enter into negotiations on getting rid of its nuclear arsenal, and to motivate key regional powers China and Russia to put more pressure on Pyongyang so a war is averted.
For the military, the focus has been on ensuring soldiers are ready should the call come.
At Fort Bragg, Mattis recommended the troops read T.R. Fehrenbach's military classic "This Kind of War: A Study in Unpreparedness," first published in 1963, a decade after the Korean War ended.
"Knowing what went wrong the last time around is as important as knowing your own testing, so that you're forewarned you know what I'm driving at here," he said as soldiers listened in silence. "So you gotta be ready."
The retired Marine Corps general fielded questions on many topics. But North Korea kept coming up as troops wondered whether war looms.
Asked about recent reports that families of U.S. service members in South Korea might be evacuated, Mattis stressed his belief that diplomacy could still avert a crisis. He said there is no plan now for an evacuation.
"I don't think it's at that point yet," he said, adding that an evacuation of American civilians would hurt the South Korean economy. He said there is a contingency plan that would get U.S. service members' families out "on very short notice."
Mattis said he sees little chance of Kim disrupting the Winter Olympics, which begin in South Korea in February.
"I don't think Kim is stupid enough to take on the whole world by killing their athletes," he said.
Still, Mattis seemed determined to steel U.S. troops against what could be a costly war on the Korean Peninsula even as he at one point argued that diplomacy is "going positively."
"There is very little reason for optimism," he said.

House passes $700B defense bill amid North Korea threat

Published November 14, 2017
House Republicans and Democrats joined forces Tuesday to decisively approve a defense policy bill that authorizes $700 billion to restock what lawmakers have described as a depleted U.S. military and counter North Korea's advancing nuclear weapons program.
Lawmakers voted 356-70 to pass the legislation, with 127 Democrats backing the measure. Once the defense bill clears the Senate, which is expected this week, the bill will be sent to President Donald Trump for his signature.
The defense bill for the 2018 fiscal year allots some $634 billion for core Pentagon operations and nearly $66 billion for wartime missions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere. The funding boost pays for more troops, jet fighters, ships and other weapons needed to halt an erosion of the military's combat readiness, according to the bill's backers.
Trump's 2018 request sought $603 billion for basic functions and $65 billion for overseas missions. But securing the higher amounts remains contingent upon Congress reaching an agreement to roll back a 2011 law that set strict limits on most federal spending. That's a lot harder than it sounds, however. Lifting the budget caps will face resistance from Democrats who also are seeking to increase the budgets for domestic agencies.
Rep. Adam Smith of Washington, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, voted for the bill while also criticizing Congress for refusing to come to grips with its out-of-control approach to budgeting. Smith said it's inconsistent for Republicans to push for billions of dollars more in defense spending while also advocating tax overhaul legislation that will deepen federal deficits over the next decade.
Even if Congress had a "fit of fiscal responsibility" and decided to raise revenue instead of cutting it, Smith said, "we're still looking at needs within the national security budget ... that are wildly beyond the amount of money that we have."
Republicans insist tax cuts will essentially pay for themselves by spurring economic growth. But the Armed Services Committee chairman, Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, urged his colleagues to focus on the military's immediate and substantial needs.
"It is morally wrong to send men and women out on missions with our military, for which they are not fully supported, fully trained, (and) equipped with the best equipment our country can provide," he said.
The defense legislation includes $12.3 billion for the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency and orders a more rapid buildup of the nation's missile defenses as Pyongyang has refused to back away from developing nuclear missiles capable of striking the United States.
The bill includes money for as many as 28 additional Ground-Based Interceptors, which are anti-missile missiles that would be launched from underground silos in Alaska in the event the U.S. decided to try to shoot down a North Korean missile heading toward the United States. The interceptors are designed to directly hit the enemy missile outside the Earth's atmosphere, obliterating it by the force of impact.
Lawmakers also have required Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to develop a plan for increasing the overall number of so-called GBIs from 44 to 104. The bill also directs the Pentagon to procure more ship-based interceptors and missiles for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, a U.S. mobile anti-missile system.
North Korea's U.N. ambassador, Ja Song Nam, said in a letter Monday to Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres that the unprecedented deployment of three U.S. aircraft carrier groups "taking up a strike posture" around the Korean peninsula has made it impossible to predict when nuclear war will break out. The carriers are participating in joint naval exercises with North Korea.
"The large-scale nuclear war exercises and blackmails, which the U.S. staged for a whole year without a break in collaboration with its followers to stifle our republic, make one conclude that the option we have taken was the right one and we should go along the way to the last," Ja's letter reads.
The policy bill also grants U.S. troops a 2.4 percent pay raise, which is slightly higher than the wage increase the Pentagon had proposed.
Lawmakers also approved an increase of more than 20,000 active-duty and reserve troops from last year's level. The Army gets the largest boost and will receive 7,500 more active-duty Army soldiers and 1,000 additional reserve troops.
The defense bill provides money for 90 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, 20 more than Trump asked for, as well as 24 F/A-18 Super Hornet jet fighters, 10 more than requested. The budget also includes three Littoral Combat Ships, two beyond the budget request. The ships are new to the fleet and operate in congested areas near the shore against small boats and mines.
Hamas Waiting for Opportunity To Turn Judea & Samaria Into Another Gaza - By Yaakov Lappin -

Hamas's latest effort to join a Palestinian unity government is little more than a facade, and the terror group's top immediate objective is to seize control of Judea and Samaria and turn it into a second Gaza, according to the assessments of defense experts.

After years of failed attempts at reconciliation, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement and Hamas in October announced that they would implement a unity deal, which included the restoration of PA control in Gaza by Dec. 1.

But the so-called unification quickly ran into trouble, and was delayed to Dec. 10. Now, the reconciliation agreement is apparently collapsing, and Hamas seems to be in no rush to revive it.

"Hamas is just waiting for Abbas to die, or that he agrees to elections, to try and take over the West Bank," Dr. Ely Karmon, a senior scholar at Israel's International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT), told JNS regarding the 82-year-old Palestinian leader. "And Hamas is again talking about close ties with Iran and Hezbollah."

Dr. Col. (res.) Moshe Elad, one of the founders and former heads of the security coordination between the IDF and the PA, said the PA is utterly dependent on Israel's military presence in Judea and Samaria to prevent a second Hamas-armed Islamist revolution.

Elad, who today lectures at the Western Galilee College, said IDF-PA coordination is "the insurance policy" that the PA has in Judea and Samaria for its survival, since "Hamas is very strong there."

"Hamas can't launch a revolution in Judea and Samaria...but it's a threat that exists all of the time," Elad told JNS. "It's true that on the surface, PA President Mahmoud Abbas attacks Israel, but ultimately, he wants us to be there, so that we can give him security against the possibility of a revolution by Hamas.

As absurd as it sounds, he understands that Israel's presence in Judea and Samaria, because of the settlers, holds benefits for him. This means there is a very big convergence of interests...if we leave the area, he will be in a major problem. This is exactly what happened in Gaza."

Elad was referring to the 2007 Gaza coup, which saw Hamas's gunmen seize the coastal territory by force and kill Fatah personnel, widening a massive rift between the two Palestinian camps.  The latest stalled reconciliation effort was aimed at bridging this gap. But Elad believes such attempts should not be taken seriously.

According to Elad, Saleh al-Arouri--a senior Hamas operative who is part of a shadow overseas command structure for the terror group that orchestrates attacks from afar--has "sent letters to Hamas operatives in which he ordered them to prepare a similar coup in Judea and Samaria.

Abbas knows that the five to six battalions the PA has cannot keep him in power over time on their own. He needs Israel."

Elad, who has written two books on the Palestinians, said he has counted more than 25 unification attempts between Hamas and the PA since 2007.

"It never succeeds," he said. "The Egyptians, the Turks, the Qataris and Saudis--who hasn't tried to mediate? There is a deeper story here than many realize. Hamas will not give up its armed force [in Gaza] so easily."

On the streets of Palestinian cities, towns and villages in Judea and Samaria, the PA continues to repress Hamas, Elad added.

"In terms of popularity, Hamas is stronger than the PA, because the PA controls by force and authority, and not through public support," he said. "There are areas outside of the Muqata (the PA's government complex in Ramallah) where Abbas cannot visit. There are two camps here--a two-headed Palestinian system. Reunification is irrelevant."

In line with Elad's assessments, the Shin Bet domestic intelligence agency and IDF ground units in Judea and Samaria continue to operate day and night to keep Hamas in check. Israeli preventative operations represent the majority of the force that is in place against Hamas, with the PA's own efforts--motivated by self-preservation--forming the minority of anti-Hamas operations.

In recent days, the Shin Bet announced that it had disrupted a Hamas cell in the village of Tel, near Nablus, which was in the planning stages of a kidnapping attack targeting a soldier or a civilian from a bus stop. Three suspects were arrested, who were allegedly in touch with Hamas's headquarters in Gaza to receive orders and funding for the attack, designed to secure the release of Palestinian security prisoners from Israeli jails.

Both the PA and Israel continue to observe and sometimes disrupt Hamas's social infrastructure, which spreads its popularity and ideology. These networks include schools, mosques and charity centers, used to keep operatives on the payroll and recruit the masses to the Hamas Islamist cause.

University campuses bristle with Hamas student groups that spread radical ideology and promote recruitment drives. Yet the organization's terrorist cells are routinely detected before they can act.

Dozens of the terror plots are orchestrated by Hamas's overseas shadow government, led by Arouri, who today is believed to reside in Lebanon--under Hezbollah protection--after leaving Turkey.

Hamas's goal of conquering Judea and Samaria provides plenty of motivation for the PA to continue its arrest raids on the terror group, prompting Hamas to threaten to end unification talks in recent weeks.

"I do not believe in a real reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah," said ICT's Karmon. "They could for a short time coordinate stances on the issue of Jerusalem, but [Hamas political chief in Gaza] Yahya Sinwar has already announced that the agreement has collapsed."

Syrian army forces backed by Iranian-backed militias pushed deeper into the last rebel-held enclave near a strategic border area with Israel and Lebanon in a new expansion of Tehran's influence in the war-torn country.

The army and the Shi'ite forces advanced east and south of the Sunni-rebel held bastion of Beit Jin backed by some of the heaviest aerial bombing and heavy artillery shelling since a major assault began over two months ago to seize the area, rebels said.

The Syrian army said it had encircled the village of Mughr al Meer at the foothills of Mount Hermon as troops moved towards Beit Jin amid fierce clashes.

The enclave is the last rebel bastion left in the south west of Damascus known as the Western Ghouta that had since last year fallen under government control after months of heavy bombing on civilian areas and years of siege tactics that forced rebels to surrender.

A western intelligence source confirmed rebel reports that Iranian-backed militias including the powerful Lebanese Hezbollah Shi'ite group were playing a major role in the ongoing battles.

"The Iranian backed militias are trying to consolidate their sphere of influence all the way from southwest of Damascus to the Israeli border," said Suhaib al Ruhail, an official from the Liwa al Furqan rebel group that operates in the area.

Worried by Iran's expanding influence in Syria after the defeat of Islamic State, Israel has in the last few weeks stepped up its strikes against suspected Iranian targets inside Syria.

Early this month an Israeli strike on a base near Kiswah, south of Damascus was widely believed to be an Iranian military compound, according to a Western intelligence source

Israel has been lobbying both big powers to deny Iran, Lebanon's Hezbollah and other Shi'ite militias any permanent bases in Syria, and to keep them away from the Golan, as they gain ground while helping Damascus beat back Sunni-led rebels.

The southwest of Syria is part of a de-escalation zone in southern Syria agreed last July between Russia and Washington, the first such understanding between the two powers.

The area has not seen Russian bombing unlike other ceasefire areas in Syria.

Diplomatic sources say several thousand Shi'ite fighters who have been amassing from outside the Quneitra province are pitted against hundreds of Islamist and mainstream Free Syria Army (FSA) rebels closing ranks under the banner of Itihad Quwt Jabal al Sheikh "Union of fighters of Jabal al Sheikh". They are mainly drawn from local fighters from the area.

With the army and Iranian backed offensive widening, the rebels have called on youths to enlist as mosque imams in Beit Jin called on people to take up arms and fight the army.

Rebels still have a sizeable presence in central and southern Quneitra, in the Syrian Golan Heights.

Western diplomatic sources say the crushing of the Sunni rebel presence in areas they have been in since 2013 will allow Lebanon's Hezbollah to open another secure arms supply line from its border in southern Lebanon into Syria.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Syria, Iran has had a growing presence in the country, deploying thousands of Shi'ite fighters who have fought against both mainstream Sunni rebel groups and more militant groups.

Could 2018 Be the Year?

On May 14, 2018, Israel will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Jewish nation. 70 is clearly one of several numbers that have special significance in the Bible (Jacob took 70 people to Egypt; Israel spent 70 years in Babylon; There are 70 weeks of Daniel; 70 members of the Sanhedrin, etc.).

It seems logical that 2018 could be a significant year in the history of Israel. I cannot predict the future, but two startling events are shaping up.

First, Pres. Trump clearly intends to release a peace proposal in 2018; and one startling fact about this is the likelihood that Israel, most of the Arabs, and the PA will come to some kind of agreement.

The peace proposal that Pres. Trump's advisors are working on is much more than a U.S. creation. It is the product of several weeks of behind the scenes discussions with Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and others. It is being hailed as a Trump proposal, but it is actually the creation of many entities.

Peace negotiations have taken place and failed for almost 70 years. Those that are working on this proposal appear to have reached the conclusion that 70 years of negotiations are enough. The time to solve the issue has come.

There are reports that the old plans are dead and the U.S., Israel and several Arab nations are working on a new proposal that will be pre-approved (accepted before it is made public).

Mahmoud Abbas and the PA are expected to object to the proposal, so the Saudis have already ordered Mr. Abbas to get on board or resign. The Saudis pay his salary and that of his staff, so it will be hard for him to refuse to comply.

Egypt and Jordan have objected to past plans, but they have been involved in the discussions this time, and they are cooperating with Saudi Arabia.

Egypt and Jordan are expected to voice some minor objections, but it is a foregone conclusion that they will eventually accept the pre-approved proposal. Egypt is even offering the PA land in the Sinai that can be annexed to Gaza.

Very significant is the fact that Saudi Arabia and most of the 21 Arab nations said very little when Pres. Trump issued his Dec. 6, 2017 Proclamation that Jerusalem is the undivided capital of Israel.

Very significant also is the fact that they said very little when the White House said they can't envision the Western Wall (on the Temple Mount) not being part of Israel.

Very significant again is the fact that two Arab nations (Turkey and Jordan) tried to get Saudi Arabia and the other Arabs to attend an emergency meeting of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to denounce Pres. Trump's Proclamation, but the Saudis and others refused to attend.

Feeding into this is the fact that Saudi Arabia and Egypt are unhappy with the fact that Mahmoud Abbas has been unnecessarily friendly with the Iranian-backed terrorists in Gaza. Saudi Arabia and Egypt want something done about Iran, and Mr. Abbas is leaning toward the wrong side. He has offended his Saudi and Egyptian allies.

The Saudis and Egypt are obviously interested in a coalition with the U.S. and Israel.

Egypt helped the PA draft a resolution to set aside Pres. Trump's Proclamation on moving the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but Egypt knew that the U.S. could kill it with a veto.

On Dec. 19, 2017, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was still fighting the Trump Administration's efforts to draft a peace proposal, and the Saudis called him in and warned him to get on board a second time.

Second, it looks like 2018 could also produce an Arab war with Iran (ethnos against ethnos), or it could be the year that Iran and others attack Israel (Gog and Magog). Something must be done soon about Iran's progress in the development of nuclear weapons or it will be too late to stop her.

In 2015, over the objections of Saudi Arabia, Israel and others; the U.S., UK, China, Russia, France and Germany signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran that would supposedly (but disputedly) stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, limit Iran's missile development and restrict Iran's sale of certain weapons to other nations.

There is much more to it, but on Oct. 13, 2017, Pres. Trump refused to certify that Iran is keeping the JCPOA. He made a case for attacking Iran and gave Congress 60 days to act before he did anything. The 60 days are up and Congress hasn't acted.

The next move is now up to Pres. Trump, and some think he will withdraw the U.S. from the JCPOA in January 2018. Withdrawing the U.S. from its treaty with Iran would be a big deal.

Iran has shipped weapons (including missiles to Yemen) and built weapons facilities in Lebanon and Syria (possibly in violation of JCPOA). Iran has urged jihadists to fire rockets into Israel, refused to pull her troops out of Syria, threatened to send 80,000 Shiite fighters into the Middle East, and Yemen has fired an Iranian missile at Saudi Arabia's public airport.

On Dec. 18, 2017, Pres. Trump released a document that lays out his national security doctrine. It says the Middle East crisis is caused by Iran and radical Islamic terrorists, not Israel.

The war drums are beating in the White House, Israel, Saudi Arabia and several other Arab nations. It looks like a coalition is forming to settle their differences, sign a peace treaty and reshape the Middle East.

This brings up many questions that can't be sorted out right now (Psa. 83, destruction of Damascus, Gog and Magog, destroy Iran's nuclear facilities, etc.), but it is enough to ask could 2018 be the year that these startling events take place?

If it is, the world will be very different 12 months from now.

Death Is Not the End

Death Is Not the End - By Greg Laurie -

And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. -1 John 2:17

Commentator E. M. Bounds wrote, "Heaven ought to so fill our hearts and hands, our manner and conversation, our character and our features, that all would see that we are foreigners. . . . Heaven is our native land and home to us, and death to us is not the dying hour, but the birth hour."

Life is passing by quickly, and we know that we will see our loved ones in the Lord again. The absence away from our loved ones is a comma, not a period. Earth is a temporary place where we decide our eternal destiny. One day Jesus Christ will call all believers to Heaven, either through the Rapture or through death.

Heaven is our real home, and we should be motivated by the hope that we will be in Heaven. As Warren Wiersbe said, "For the Christian, heaven isn't simply a destination; it's a motivation."

The Bible gives us this reminder in 1 John 2: "Do not love this world. . . . For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever" (verses 15-17).

But what about people who, through no fault of their own, were not able to do all they had hoped to do because they were hampered by a disability or illness? Or what about those whose lives were shorter than what they had hoped? God will not waste or squander any life or gifts.

Death, for the believer, is not the end of life but the continuation of it in another place.

Happy New Day

Happy New Day - Nathele Graham - twotug@embarqmail.com

Happy New Year. That's a phrase that we'll be hearing a lot over the next few weeks. If you really stop to think about it, that's a lot to ask. Is it possible to have a whole year of happiness? It's a nice sentiment but there's a good chance that there will be things during this coming year that aren't happy at all. Perhaps your marriage will hit bumpy times or maybe you've worked for years at a job but suddenly the company is downsizing and you're job is in jeopardy. What then? These things aren't  things that make up a happy new year. Instead of  wishing to be happy for the entire year, it might be better to resolve to take life on a day by day basis. "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD." Lamentations 3:22-26. Every single day the Lord is faithful and our hope is in Him. Hope doesn't mean that you cross your fingers wanting something to happen. Instead, hoping in the Lord means to rest assured that He is faithful and will see you through everything that comes your way.

Each day is filled with choices. Do I choose to sin or do I choose to follow God's word. If you choose sin for that day then you choose to not have a happy day. We can look back into Biblical history and see from the experiences of the heroes of old that they were much happier when they chose to follow God. For instance, the Israelites chose to not trust God and enter the Promised Land and that caused them to wander for 40 years in the wilderness. After Joshua finally led the Israelites into the land God had promised them he told the tribes of Israel that they had a choice to make. They could serve heathen gods or they could follow the one true God. "Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:14-15. Joshua made the right choice and led his family in the right path. He said "... choose you this day whom ye will serve" and we need to make that choice daily too. If you choose to serve the pagan gods which are demons, then you choose to be against God. Whatever pleasure you may think you find in sin it's always temporary and only brings heartache. Sin comes from Satan and his demonic horde and you can find no way to have a happy day or year by serving pagan gods.

Looking at what others have can cause you to be unhappy with what you have. Every day will be happier if you choose to thank God for what He has provided for you instead of envying what others have. Envy isn't a new problem for people. Asaph, who wrote many psalms, said he was envious of others who seemed wicked but who also prospered. "But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." Psalm 73:2-3. There will always be someone who seems to have more than you. It's easy to be unhappy when we dwell upon what others have, or seem to have. Does someone have a big, beautiful house while you live in a small cottage? They also have a big, beautiful mortgage. The same goes for a fancy car or other material possessions. Happiness comes when you're content with what God provides for you each day. That doesn't mean that you can't have a nice house or car, but allow God to provide rather than running ahead of Him and getting yourself in debt. God will always see that you have the means for you to afford what He provides. Asaph was envious of others  "Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end." Psalm 73:17. The wicked people around us may have worldly possessions, but that's where their treasure is; they don't have salvation. Asaph knew how to find peace with what God had given to him rather than looking at what wicked people seemed to have. The Holy Spirit indwells Christians and it's easy for us to talk to Him every day. Tell Him about your concerns but be sure to listen to what He wants for you. You'll be much happier day by day if you live within God's will for you. "Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory...My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." Psalm 73:23-24 &26. It's also important to thank Him for what He has provided, including your salvation. When you're thankful for His daily provision for you, you'll find that you're content.

Problems will always come along, but we need to choose to be content in the Lord. Even Paul had bad days. He was beaten, jailed, ship wrecked, and faced many other problems. He had some unhappy days, but he didn't trust in his own strength. "For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: but we had the sentence of death in ourselves that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead" 2 Corinthians 1:8-9. Paul knew where his strength was and even when his life came to the point of despair, he looked to God. If you're down and feel despair, talk to God. You can also talk to someone who loves you. God has given us family and Christian friends to talk to about problems. He gave us voices to talk with and arms to hug with. Why, then, do so many people opt to get advice from Facebook or other social media? When I was young my mother was my best friend; I could talk to her about anything and everything. She was also a devout Christian so when she gave me advice it was based upon God's word. Today many people take to social media and are given (and give) all kinds of ungodly advice. Feelings are put out for the public to see and then emotions spiral downward. This causes all kinds of unhappiness on a daily basis. Why not choose to either get off of Facebook or instead of posting "Oh poor me", maybe look back on your day and post about how faithful God was to see you through. If you do that every day you can look back at the end of the year and see that each day offered something to be thankful for and happy about. Instead of  being pessimistic about having an empty glass, see the promise of fresh water. "He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he." Proverbs 16:20. For the Christian, faith will carry us through the good days, bad days, and into eternity. Although life can throw some problems our way, the Lord is there for us to lean on. Every day when we wake up our prayer should be that we will glorify God in all things and that we'll see His guidance in our life.

A happy new year is made up of 365 contented days. Let God be your daily source of happiness and you cannot go wrong.

God bless you all,

Nathele Graham

- North Korean Soldier Who Defected Was Immune To Anthrax

NOTE: THIS ARTICLE WAS SENT TO ME AND HAS NOT BEEN RESEARCHED FOR AUTHENTICITY. ALTHOUGH, N.KOREA IS KNOWN TO HAVE DEADLY CHEMICALS IN IT'S ARSENAL, THIS COULD BECOME A REALITY. THE NEWS RECENTLY REPORTED ON THIS SITUATION AND ADMIT THAT THIS WOULD INFACT BE WORSE THEN A NUCLEAR DETONATION FROM A ICBM. Alarming Story Out Of SKorea Confirms Experts Worst Fears And Shows How War Could Bring America To A Standstill In Days

- North Korean Soldier Who Defected Was Immune To Anthrax

By Stefan Stanford - All News Pipeline

With the eyes of the entire world on the Korean peninsula with recent warnings from DOD head James Mattis that"storm clouds are gathering" there, we'd be wise to take a step back and take a quick look at a key event in the history of the region that many are now warning could lead to the next global catastrophe and a devastating apocalypse.

Following the 1950 to 1953 Korean war which led to the deaths of thousands of Koreans due to outbreaks of cholera, typhus, typhoid and smallpox, deaths which the Korean regime blamed upon the United States, North Korea began to develop one of the most deadly biological weapons program in the world in the 1960's.

As The Independent reported back on October 23rd, in addition to its nuclear program, North Korea is likely now mass producing biological weapons such as smallpox, the plague and anthrax and if this new story from Sky News is any indication, their anthrax program is likely well beyond what might have been previously thought.

As they report, a North Korean soldier who recently defected from North Korea was immune to anthrax. A disease that can kill in less than 24 hours, anthrax antibodies were found in his blood, raising fears the regime could use the disease as a weapon. And as we see detailed below, this latest development helps show how a war with North Korea could bring America to a standstill in days.
South Korean authorities confirmed the soldier, who has not been identified, was either exposed to or vaccinated against anthrax and had developed immunity to it, UPI reported.

Also warning within their story that Kim's regime was testing bioweapons with the end game of being able to load anthrax on to ICBM missiles to use against their enemies as also heard in the first video below from Pastor Paul Begley, Japan's Asahi newspaper reported that the US was aware of the tests, which were being carried out to determine whether the anthrax bacteria could survive the high temperatures on re-entry from space. From the Sky News story:
North Korea denied the claims and said it would "take revenge" on the US for claiming it was developing biological weapons.

The discovery of anthrax antibodies has raised tensions in Seoul. The South Korean military has not yet issued an anthrax vaccine. Defence ministry spokesman Choi Hyun Soo has said a vaccine "is expected to be developed by the end of 2019".

Anthrax is an infection caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. It can be contracted through the skin, lungs, intestines or through an injection.Symptoms include raised spots or blisters on the skin, fever and chills, shortness of breath, chest pains and shock.

Airborne infection of the disease is the most deadly and can kill quickly if not treated immediately. It can be treated with antibiotics. In response to ICBM tests by the North Korea regime, the UN Security Council unanimously passed new sanctions last week.

And while Kim Jong Un and North Korea claim that the new sanctions passed against them last week were 'an act of war' against them, the December 22nd tweet from President Trump seen above saying "The World Wants Peace, Not Death" shows us the two vastly different directions all of this could take in the days, weeks and months ahead.
As Michael Snyder reported over at his End of the American Dream website back in April of 2017, a war with North Korea would be fundamentally different from other wars with this very specific warning to those still sleeping: Most Americans have no idea that biological weapons could potentially bring our nation to a complete and utter standstill within a matter of days.

Snyder's story titled
"Where Will You Go When North Korean Agents Release Biological Weapons In Major U.S. Cities?" holds back no punches and immediately gets to this mind-shattering scenario.:
In the aftermath of a massive U.S. military strike on North Korea’s nuclear facilities, North Korean agents that have been embedded inside the United States for years quickly start going to work. In Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, small containers that had been covertly smuggled into the U.S. are opened and dropped on the ground in the middle of large groups of people.

At first nothing seems to happen, but pretty rapidly those that have been exposed start developing puffy white sores and blisters on their skin. When this hits the news, panic begins to spread as people realize that this appears to be a coordinated attack. Before too long, others that have been exposed to a different bioweapon start bleeding profusely from their eyes, ears, mouths and noses. People drop dead by the thousands, and a national health crisis is declared.

Economic activity comes to a complete halt as everyone becomes deathly afraid of leaving their own homes. Hospitals and other medical facilities are completely overwhelmed because they can only treat a small fraction of those that are dying. Because these weaponized diseases were designed to spread like wildfire, pretty soon nearly every community in America is affected.

The federal government attempts to intervene, but it is powerless to stop the spread of these pandemics. Thousands of dead bodies lie rotting in the streets of our major cities because there aren’t enough people willing to take the risk of burying them. And because virtually everyone is camping out at home, essential public services start to break down very rapidly and our society descends into a state of utter chaos.

As we also previously reported on ANP, we have absolute proof through now declassified documents that back in the 1990's, North Korea had at least 5 'commando squads' on US soil prepared to hit numerous different targets here in the US including nuclear plants and US cities. Should we think anything has changed since then?

If anything, as we've reported time and again on ANP, during Obama's 8 years in office, the US border had become even more porous than it was during the 1990's, allowing even more 'trojan horses' in. From
the Daily Mail story:
North Korea sent special forces teams to the US in the 1990s to target nuclear power stations and conduct terror attacks on major cities in the event of war, a declassified intelligence report has revealed.

The rogue state successfully infiltrated five units of highly-trained commandos onto U.S. soil ready to strike at key installations, according to a Defense Intelligence Agency report dated September 13, 2004.

The report states that the North Korean Ministry of People’s Armed Forces 'established five liaison offices in the early 1990s, to train and infiltrate operatives into the United States to attack nuclear power plants and major cities in case of hostilities.'

With the unnamed North Korean defector being immune to anthrax proving some of the worst fears of experts that North Korea may be preparing to use anthrax against Americans while continuing to develop chemical and biological weapons in violation of international law, we should also remember that Kim has already used such weapons against a family member.

North Korea has been accused of using chemical weapons on a smaller scale. Kim Jong Nam, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's older half-brother and a potential rival, was killed in an attack with a deadly nerve agent at Malaysia's international airport in February.

And with weapons such as anthrax, the plague and other bioweapons already in the hands of a madman who has had his own relatives executed, it's easy to understand the horrific predicament that President Trump has been thrust into with
'the can' continuously kicked down the road during the last few administrations' and their 'policies of appeasement'.

To close, the final
excerpts below from Snyder's story over at End of the American Dream outline for us what could happen at any moment in time with hostilities and tensions seemingly at a fever pitch between the US and North Korea this very moment as Rick Wiles from TruNews details in the final video below titled "Is North Korea Preparing To Attack The US With Biowarfare Agents?"

As
Mac Slavo recently reported over at SHTFPlan, according to one intelligence insider who'd allegedly gotten his information from the director of the CIA, a war with North Korea is likely within the next 12 weeks, setting a window between now and March that we should all be prepared for, just in case of that 'worst case scenario' playing out.
Thanks to our ridiculously porous borders, it would be no problem at all to smuggle these types of weapons into the United States. My guess is that if we do go to war with North Korea, it won’t be very long at all before North Korean agents that are already embedded here are given the order to attack.

In addition to biological weapons, it is also important to remember that it is estimated that North Korea has an arsenal of up to 5,000 tons of chemical weapons. The moment that the U.S. begins attacking the North Koreans, they could respond by firing off missiles armed with chemical warheads at Seoul, Tokyo and other major cities in the region. If this were to happen, the death toll would likely be absolutely catastrophic.

This is one of the reasons why I am
always strongly urging my readers to get prepared. If you wait to take action until war starts and weapons of mass destruction are being used, it will be way too late to gather the food and supplies that you and your family will need.

Let us certainly hope that the kind of scenario that I have laid out in this article does not happen, but at this point both Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un do not appear to be bluffing, and that means that anything is possible.
