The Petra Prophecy

The Petra Prophecy - By Joseph Farah - https://www.wnd.com/2022/11/petra-prophecy/ Joseph Farah explains the time 'when God rescues His flock from the devil' Years ago, I had scheduled a tour of the ancient city of Petra, about 100 miles from Amman, Jordan. It's a spectacular city, Jordan's premier tourist destination, carved outof sheer rock mountain and made known to the world in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Unfortunately, I had a series of debilitating strokes that prevented me from traveling and telling people about the prophecy about Petra's likely role in saving countlessJews from a looming end-times holocaust. I have not been back to the Middle East since then. I've always been fascinated by Petra. Maybe I'll see it in the Kingdom! The story is best told in Revelation 12:1-17: "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with childcried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caughtup unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is comesalvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a shorttime. "And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carriedaway of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep thecommandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." [Emphasis added.] This is the miracle of Petra – when God rescues His flock from the devil. There's an illusion to air travel from Israel to Petra or nearby Bozrah above I would like to bringto your attention: "And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent." You will notice the name Petra doesn't appear in the text. Neither does it appear in the Bible. You have to decipher it using other names – like Bozrah. In Micah 2:12-13, it is once again mentioned: "I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheepof Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall passbefore them, and the Lord on the head of them." Jesus in Matthew 24:15 makes reference to the beginning of the Great Tribulation that sets off this frenzy to escape Israel. "When ye therefore shall see the abomination ofdesolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)" Daniel had spoken to the angel Michael who explained that the last three and a half years of the Great Tribulation, of Jacob's Trouble, would begin with this "abominationof desolation." Then in the next few verses of Matthew, Jesus continues discussing leaving Israel for safety. "Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in thefield return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not sincethe beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." Petra was famous as a Nabataean stronghold of the past. And apparently it will be sought again, with the Lord's blessing for His children. Jesus continues in verses 30-39: "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Sonof man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable of the figtree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these thingsbe fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For asin the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." There's a parallel verse in Jeremiah 30:7: "Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it." Now once His people are rescued, Jesus evidently takes the matter of justice to the gentiles living in Bozrah – near Petra. That's found in Isaiah 63: "Who is this that comethfrom Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth inthe winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day ofvengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. And I will tread down thepeople in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth."
