Why You Must Pray for Donald Trump

Why You Must Pray for Donald Trump - J. Lee Grady - http://www.charismanews.com/opinion/62476-why-you-must-pray-for-donald-trump

When President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in this Friday as our nation's 45th president, he will stand in front of the U.S. Capitol and place his hand on two Bibles: One that was used for Abraham Lincoln's inauguration in 1861, the other a gift from Trump's mother when he graduated at age 9 from Sunday school at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, New York.

Trump won't be hiding his affiliations with evangelical Christians at the ceremony. He will be surrounded by religious leaders, some who supported his campaign and others who criticized his rhetoric. They include Paula White, a Pentecostal pastor from Florida who is sometimes credited with bringing Trump to faith; evangelist Franklin Graham; Hispanic minister Sammy Rodriguez (who denounced Trump's anti-immigrant comments) and African-American preacher Wayne T. Jackson of Detroit. A rabbi and a Catholic cardinal will also join Trump on the stage.

Yet in spite of the two Bibles and the six ministers on the platform, many Christians aren't fully supportive of our next president. Most African-American and Hispanic Christians did not vote for Trump, younger Christian voters were skeptical of his campaign, and other believers opposed him because his views on women and immigrants seemed incompatible with Christianity.

So when Trump lays his hand on those Bibles and pledges to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States," he will lead a divided nation. But if you are a Christian, you have an obligation to pray for your president no matter how you voted in November. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 commands us to pray "for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty."

Praying for our leaders is not optional. It does not depend on your mood or your opinions. Here are eight ways I plan to intercede for President Trump regularly:

1. Pray for his protection. There will be more than 28,000 security officials at the inauguration on Friday, and Trump's decision to spend some of his time at his home in New York City will increase the security threat during his time in office. Pray that he and his family will be protected from assassins' bullets and terror attacks. May civility triumph over violence.

2. Pray that Trump will govern with God's wisdom. God rewarded Solomon because he asked for wisdom instead of wealth, long life or vengeance on his enemies (see 1 Kings 3:11-12). Pray that Trump will order his priorities like that. Despite Solomon's tragic character flaws, his legacy was wisdom. We can ask God to give our president the same grace.

3. Pray that God will set a guard over Trump's mouth. It is no secret that Trump often speaks (or tweets) before he thinks. He can be impulsive and short-tempered. Yet a man in his position must use discretion, or else his impetuous words can close doors and ruin diplomacy. The psalmist prayed: "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips" (Ps. 141:3). Pray this on behalf of our president.

4. Pray for wise and righteous advisers to surround him. Godly leaders cannot do their jobs alone. Even the best leaders have failed because they trusted the wrong people. Pray that Trump will not select his counselors based on party, race, pedigree or political cronyism but on godly character and proven wisdom. Pray especially that Vice President Mike Pence, who is an evangelical Christian, will rely on the Holy Spirit to advise the president.

5. Ask for the spirit of reconciliation. Some segments of our divided society want nothing to do with Trump now that he has won the presidency. Some media outlets have become downright hostile, breaking all rules of journalistic objectivity. Even some Christians will be tempted to harbor resentment and nurse political grudges throughout his term in office. Pray that God will grant forgiveness and healing so that leaders on all political levels can have constructive dialogue. And pray that Trump will reach out with kindness to Democrats, the media, minorities, immigrants, foreign leaders and Republicans who opposed him.

6. Bind all evil forces assigned to manipulate our president. The specter of Islamic terrorism looms over the United States, and dark forces have already infiltrated. On the other side, it is obvious that Russia desires to manipulate our nation. Our only hope lies in prayer to the God who is able to expose and outwit the schemes of the wicked. This is truly a time for spiritual warfare, and intercessors must not come off the wall in this hour. Pray that no foreign government, terrorist organization, multinational corporation or demonic principality will use Trump as a tool. We must stand strong against the spirit of anti-Christ that promotes dictatorship, persecution of Christians and hostility toward Israel.

7. Pray that Trump's door will always be open to the church. The loudest voices of secular culture-from Bill Maher in Hollywood to atheists in academia-would be happy if religion were removed from public life. Pray that Trump, who claims to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ, will unapologetically welcome Christian leaders into his company and seek their counsel.

8. Pray that our nation will enjoy God's peace and blessing during the Trump administration. God's will is for America to experience peace and prosperity so we can continue to export the gospel to the nations. This must happen whether a Democrat or a Republican is in the White House. As we cry out for God's mercy on our nation, pray that He will allow us to be a light to the world as we finance global missions, feed and heal the world's poor and share Christ's love at home and abroad.

Trump Doubles Down on Jerusalem Embassy Promise; City's Mayor Welcomes Him with Open Arms - By Valerie Locke January - https://www.breakingisraelnews.com

"At that time they shall call Yerushalayim the throne of Hashem; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of Hashem, to Yerushalayim; neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart." Jeremiah 3:17 (The Israel Bible™)

President-elect Donald Trump reassured supporters on Tuesday that he does not intend to go back on his campaign promise to move the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying, "You know that I am not a person who breaks promises."

Speaking from the Chairman's Global Dinner in Washington DC, Trump said that he "clearly did not forget" his guarantee to move the embassy, an act which has come to represent Trump's pro-Israel stance and enjoys wide bipartisan support from Congress.

While a number of past presidents have promised to make the momentous move while campaigning, none have ever followed through, wary of stirring tensions in a city which both Israelis and Palestinians claim as their capital. Trump, however, remained adamant throughout the race that upon taking office, he would "move the American embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem."

He has appointed as ambassador to Israel right-winger David Friedman, who has said he is "eager to begin work from the US embassy" in Jerusalem.

Until now, the US has been unwilling to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel for fear of angering Palestinians. In fact, many American officials - including President Barack Obama - have refused to even acknowledge that Jerusalem is physically located in Israel.

Trump's pro-Jerusalem sentiments have been cheered by Israeli politicians across the spectrum, including the capital's mayor Nir Barkat, who launched a campaign on Thursday to show support for Trump from the holy city.

"This week Donald Trump will enter the White House as president. Let's together welcome him as a friend and thank him for his intention to move the US embassy to Jerusalem," urged Barkat in a video filmed from his office in Jerusalem.

Barkat also suggested a quick and easy way to move the embassy with very little fuss. "You can move the embassy in one morning by a small change: Take the plaque of the consulate [in Jerusalem] and replace it with one that says 'embassy'," he proposed to Israel Radio on Wednesday.

"That can be done in five minutes, and afterwards you can move the ambassador and then move the rest of the staff and services."

Such a move would  "change the whole dynamic around Jerusalem and Israel," Barkat said.

He criticized outgoing President Obama's attitude towards Israel, saying that for "eight challenging years" Jerusalem has had to deal with "demands for building freezes, surrenders to radical Islam, surrenders to the Iranians.

"I hope that we are at the beginning of a new era of eight good years," he concluded.

Iran promises to 'surprise' Trump if he cancels nuclear deal - Elad Benari - http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/223577

Iran's Foreign Minister says Trump will be surprised by his country if he annuls the nuclear agreement.

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump will be "surprised" by Iran if he annuls the nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday, according to the Trend news agency.

"As I said earlier, Trump will be surprised if he tries to renegotiate the deal," Zarif was quoted as having told the Iranian IRNA news agency.

"We believe that nuclear deal is an international one and we are not worried about it at all," he continued.

"We are not going to be wary of what Trump does and we will have our options," Zarif added, noting that the nuclear deal is an international accord and all parties should comply with it.

During his election campaign Trump publicly spoke out against the Iran deal, calling it "disastrous" and vowing to "rip it up" as president.

One of Trump's foreign policy advisers, Walid Phares, recently indicated that while Trump might not actually rip up the agreement, he would act to change it.

Iranian officials, however, have downplayed Trump's threats to annul the nuclear deal, insisting he cannot do so even if he wishes.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, made clear this week that his country will not renegotiate its nuclear agreement with world powers, even if it faces new sanctions from the U.S. after Trump becomes president.

Will Trump Bow to Arab Intimidation on Jerusalem? - Mitchell Bard - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=941

President-elect Donald Trump has promised to move the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Predictably, cataclysmic warnings are coming from the Palestinians, Arab leaders and State Department Arabists.

For nearly 60 years, American presidents have wilted in the face of these threats. Will Trump be different? As someone who has up until now refused to back down from bullies, or to feel obligated to conventional wisdom, Trump -- one hopes -- will fulfill his promise.

The US Embassy is sovereign American territory. Since when do we let foreigners dictate where American sovereignty begins and ends?

Jerusalem is the only place over which blackmailers have succeeded in limiting our independence. Out of the 190 nations with which America has diplomatic relations, Israel is the only one whose capital is not recognized by the US government.

It is long past time to put an end to this absurd anomaly.

The fact that there is any hesitancy to move the embassy is itself a colossal US policy failure, and a glaring example of executive spinelessness. Where else does the US let its policy be dictated by threats of violence?

Giving in to blackmail from terrorists only emboldens them, and in the case of Jerusalem, they've learned that whipping up hysteria, and periodically resorting to violence, is sufficient to cow the world's only superpower.

With everything that's happening in the Middle East, does anyone really believe that the Muslim world is going to get upset over the moving of the US Embassy 40 miles down the road and acknowledging the fact that Jerusalem has been Israel's capital since independence, and will remain so in perpetuity?

Is ISIS, which is now fighting for its survival in Syria and Iraq, going to send soldiers to fight a jihad for Jerusalem? Are the Sunnis and Shiites, who slaughter each on a daily basis in a death match for regional supremacy, going to be distracted by the American flag flying over a building in Jerusalem?

Will the Gulf States that face Iran's hegemonic ambitions turn on the country that they need most to keep their royal heads on their shoulders?

And will the US move spark another intifada? Not likely.

First, Israel is much better prepared for the outbreak of violence than it was in the past.

Second, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has been trying to stir up Muslim anger by regularly accusing Israel of threatening the Al-Aqsa Mosque -- and has failed.

Third, an escalation of terror will undermine the already unconvincing case that Palestinians are ready for statehood, and that Israel should capitulate to their demands.

Fourth, if an intifada breaks out, Israelis who lost interest in territorial compromise after the Gaza disengagement brought terror rather than peace, will be even more reluctant to support any withdrawal from the West Bank.

Fifth, an uprising will reinforce the belief that the Palestinians cannot be trusted to keep the peace even after an agreement because they will use any excuse to turn to violence.

The reactions to Palestinian threats regarding the embassy parallel those of Kerry and his predecessors to Palestinian irredentism.

Rather than tell the Palestinians that we will not tolerate any violence, and that we will punish them if they do not heed our warning, our feckless diplomats convince their political bosses that we must give in to their demands.

Usually, what follows is pressure on Israel to make concessions to appease Palestinian anger.

President Trump needs to take the same tough line that he has expressed toward the United Nations after its reprehensible adoption of yet another anti-Israel measure last month.

He should let the Palestinians and other leaders in the region know that no economic or military aid will be forthcoming to anyone who in any way threatens our embassy in Jerusalem.

An attack on the embassy is an attack on the United States, he should tell them, and will trigger a military response not only against the perpetrators but the organizations or governments behind them.

By moving the embassy, President Trump can send a strong message that America will once again behave like a superpower. We will no longer lead from behind.

The simple act of moving our ambassador down the road from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will show that, unlike President Obama, Trump cannot be blackmailed or intimidated, and that Iran, Russia, Syria, China, the Palestinians and our other enemies will no longer be allowed to ignore or threaten our interests.

Intercede for President-Elect Trump With These Biblical Prayer Points - Anne Graham Lotz - http://www.charismamag.com/life/women/28064-intercede-for-president-elect-trump-with-these-biblical-prayer-points

"So David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel because his kingdom was highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel" (1 Chr. 14:2).

God has established Mr. Trump as the 45th president of the United States for the sake of the American people. God has kept the first part of His promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin and will heal their land."

The only possible answer for Mr. Trump's dramatic victory is that God has indeed heard from heaven. Just as certainly as He has answered our prayers for the national election, He will forgive the sin that we have confessed to Him, because He said He would. Now it's time to claim His promise for the healing of our land.

Please join me in thanking God for hearing and answering our prayers.

Join me in giving God the glory for this remarkable, dramatic turn of events.

But don't slack off in prayer. Double-down.

Pray for the healing and rebuilding of America.

Pray for Mr. Trump, that he would turn to God.

Pray that God would give the president-elect wisdom for decisions, courage to do the right thing, protection from danger, strength to govern after a grueling race, grace under the continued fire of opposition, and blessing upon blessing as he seeks to lead our nation forward and up.

Pray that God would surround Mr. Trump with godly men and women who will offer encouragement, support and wise counsel.

Pray that as God's blessings flow, healing would begin.

Now is the time to recommit ourselves to focusing, not on a particular man or political party, but on the living God of our fathers who is our hope and who alone can bring the healing America desperately needs.

Now is the time to pray! And keep praying.

Let us not forget these days - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

As we approach inauguration day, the stories against President-Elect Donald Trump continue to increase. The liberal media establishes straw man after straw man to present their if/then scenarios about issues and how Trump doesn't measure up. They don't know the difference between news and opinion because what they are writing is opinion-and it hardly makes sense. With all the public outcry about whether Trump would accept the results of the election if he didn't win, the progressives (communists) in the Democratic Party accused Trump of exactly what they are doing. While dissidence has always been a part of American politics, so too, has unification after the vote is settled. Until now.

Shame on the outgoing "president." Shame on Hillary Clinton. Shame on the Marxist globalists in the news media. Shame on those who are planning to disrupt the inauguration of the President. They should be ashamed. They have had the opportunity to unite the nation in the wake of a bitterly contested election, but they continue to throw their temper tantrum by whipping up the useful tools of their revolution-those who think they are informed, but are not; those who think they are enlightened, but have dark souls; those who would rather be victims than victors; those who in their heart of hearts are racists, bigots, xenophobes, homophobes, but prefer to hide their beliefs behind the shield of accusing others of these terrible traits. Shame on them for stirring the pot on all things detrimental to their nation and its citizens.

Clinton called supporters of Donald Trump irredeemable and deplorable. She called others in her own party who didn't support her basement dwellers living with their parents. The "president" said that Trump was a danger to democracy. They both said that any attempt to not accept the results of the election would undermine the next president and present a danger to our system of government. Yet they fan the flames of violence and disruption against the results of the election with their subtle signals, their winks at protesters, and their curious words of implication. They say nothing to call off the anarchists who are responding to their and the media's encouragement to disrupt and undermine. This is un-American and dangerous.

About half the country didn't like the results of the past two elections. They especially didn't like the immoral policies fomented by the "president" and his henchmen. But we saw a willingness to oppose from within the legal framework of our country. Those who are undermining the incoming President are calling for violence and overthrow. There is a difference, and it is a difference that deserves much prayer and action. Romans 2:1 says, "Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whosoever you are that judge: for in what you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you that judge do the same things." They are inexcusable, but they are also part of a global Marxist cabal that intends to enslave all people to godlessness. Let us not forget these days. Let us pray for righteousness to be restored to our nation. Let us act righteously to restore it.
