ISRAEL UPDATE: 6.15.19 - How Palestinian Leaders Butcher the Truth

How Palestinian Leaders Butcher the Truth - by Bassam Tawil - https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14357/palestinian-leaders-butcher-truth

The Palestinian Authority (PA) is up in arms because Israeli policemen killed a Palestinian who stabbed two Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem. The terrorist, 19-year-old Yusef Wajih, from the West Bank village of Abwain, near Ramallah, stabbed one of the men in the neck and head near the Old City's Damascus Gate, leaving him in serious condition.

The second victim was a 16-year-old who was stabbed by the terrorist in the back a few hundred meters away from the scene of the first attack. The teenager sustained light to moderate injuries. Police officers shot and killed the terrorist, thus preventing him from harming more Jews.

Such stabbing attacks are not uncommon on the streets of Jerusalem. In the past few years, Palestinian terrorists have carried out several stabbing and shooting attacks against Israeli police officers and civilians, particularly ultra-Orthodox Jews who were on their way to or from prayer at the Western Wall.

The wave of terrorist attacks began shortly after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said in 2015 that the Palestinians will not allow Jews "with their filthy feet to defile our Al-Aqsa Mosque." Abbas was referring to the Israeli authorities' decision to resume Jewish visits to the Temple Mount. The visits were temporarily suspended for security reasons after the eruption of the Second Intifada in September 2000.

Abbas, who was speaking during a meeting with Arab residents of Jerusalem in his Ramallah office, added:

"We bless every drop of blood that has been spilled for Jerusalem, which is clean and pure blood, blood spilled for Allah, Allah willing. Every Martyr (Shahid) will reach paradise, and everyone wounded will be rewarded by Allah. The Al-Aqsa [Mosque] is ours, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher is ours, and they have no right to defile them with their filthy feet. We will not allow them, and we will do everything in our power to protect Jerusalem."

Since Abbas's statement, the Palestinian media has been waging a campaign of incitement against Jewish visits to the Temple Mount. Abbas's official news agency, Wafa, regularly describes the peaceful visits by Jews as violent incidents by "settlers" and "extremists." Almost every week, Wafa publishes a report under the headline: "Jewish settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque."

Such reports are intended to send a message to the Palestinians that the Jews are launching some kind of a violent "incursion" into one of Islam's holiest shrines.

The truth is that the Jews touring the Temple Mount have never entered any of the mosques at the site or were involved in any form of violent attack against Muslim worshippers.

Abbas and his Palestinian Authority, however, are careful not to be confused by the facts. The terrorist who stabbed the two Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem was undoubtedly influenced by the ongoing incitement by Palestinian leaders regarding the Jewish visits to the Temple Mount. It is this type of incitement that prompts Palestinians to grab a knife and set out to stab the first Jew they meet.

Yet, instead of condemning the terrorist for attacking Jews on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan -- hours before hundreds of thousands of Muslim worshippers converged on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for prayer -- the Palestinian Authority chose to denounce Israel for killing him.

Despite the terrorist attack, Israeli authorities did not prevent hundreds of thousands of Muslim worshippers from the West Bank from entering Jerusalem for the Friday prayer. Israel could have used the terrorist attack as an excuse to impose restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshippers to Jerusalem, but instead chose not to do so.

Yusef Wajih, the terrorist, came to Jerusalem armed with a knife to kill Jews. That was his only goal. He could have taken advantage of Israel's easing of restrictions during Ramadan -- a move that saw hundreds of thousands of Muslims to enter Jerusalem every Friday to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Palestinian Authority is not worried that the terrorist's action could have affected the Muslim worshippers who wanted to pray at the holy site on the last Friday of Ramadan. The PA is also not concerned that two innocent Jews were stabbed by the terrorist. What the Palestinian Authority is disturbed about is the killing of the terrorist.

"The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns the crime of extra-judicial killing carried out by the occupation forces in Jerusalem," Abbas's ministry said in a statement shortly after Israeli policemen shot dead the terrorist. The ministry called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to launch an investigation "into this crime and hold to account the perpetrators of such crimes."

According to the logic of the Palestinian Authority, the police officers who killed the terrorist are the real criminals. As far as the Palestinians are concerned, the police officers should be held accountable for preventing the terrorist from continuing his stabbing spree. The officers should even be brought to trial before the International Criminal Court for foiling the terrorist's plan. As is its habit in their many previous condemnations of stopping terrorists in their tracks, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry made no mention of the two Jews who were stabbed by the terrorist.

By calling the shooting of the terrorist an "extra-judicial killing," the Palestinian Authority is seeking to create the impression that Israeli policemen drag innocent Palestinians to the street and publicly execute them for no reason. This is the type of blood libel that also propels Palestinians to carry out terrorist attacks against Israelis.

It is, therefore, precisely the Palestinian Authority leadership who continue to lie and incite their people against Israel and Jews, that ought to be put on trial by the International Criminal Court.

If the ICC ever looks into this incident, it should begin its inquiry by investigating the vicious incitement of Palestinian leaders, who use Jewish visits to a holy site in Jerusalem to butcher the truth, just as it whips up Palestinians such as Yusef Wajih to wake up in the morning and butcher the first Jew he meets. The blood of Wajih is on the hands of Palestinian leaders, and not the police officers who stopped a terrorist from stabbing yet more Jews.

This world is rapidly becoming a very unfriendly place for anyone of Jewish heritage. It's rather strange that anti-Semitism could thrive in a time of such profound racial sensitivity. If a member of any racial group suffers what can determine as the slightest amount of discrimination, they can expect immediate news coverage of their grievance.

In a December 2018 survey on experiences and perceptions of anti-Semitism in Europe, the European Union's Fundamental Rights Agency found that 90% of Jews living in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK feel anti-Semitism has increased in their country over the past decade, while 85% believe it to be a serious problem. Almost half worried about being insulted or harassed in public because they are Jewish, and more than a third feared being physically attacked.

In Germany in 2018, anti-Semitic crimes, which include hate speech, rose by 20%, according to government data. In France, hate crimes against Jews have increased by 70 over the previous year. Attacks against Jews are so bad in that nation, many Jews are choosing to leave the country.

The German commissioner for combating anti-Semitism, Dr. Felix Klein, recently urged the country's Jews to stop wearing the traditional Jewish Kippah caps. The remarks have sparked international ire and were criticized by Israel's president as representing a "capitulation" to anti-Semitism. The advice reminded me of what was offered to women in Sweden in regards to a sharp increase in rape. They were told by the government to not go out at night by themselves.

It is very strange that anti-Semitism is such a rampant problem, and we don't hear what group or groups are the source of all this hatred. Unless you have an IQ below 60, it should be obvious that the followers of the Islamic faith are the source.

When we had all the massive murder attacks in Europe, the press started playing word games with the assailants. The killers were said to be lone-wolves, radicalized, or simply part of domestic violence. As time advanced, the news media would just rush to provide cover to the terrorists. We are now commonly told this event had nothing to do with Muslims, so don't let the carnage make you Islamophobic.

The media have reached the point where it openly lies to cover for Islam. The New York Times ran a story that said 89% of the anti-Semitic attacks in Germany are from right-wing groups. In reality, most attacks against Jews in Europe are by Muslim immigrants. The New York Times might as well say that all suicide bombings are carried out by Jews.

Ben Shapiro, the head of the Daily Wire, had good reason to be confused after an Indiana Jew-hater received a three-year sentence in federal prison for vandalizing and "conspiring to violate the civil rights of" a synagogue outside Indianapolis. A lawyer for the man said that he had read many of Shapiro's articles. BuzzFeed published a story that blamed Shapiro for radicalizing the man with his "far-right" commentary. Yes, a neo-Nazi was inspired by a kappa-clad, hardcore Zionist Orthodox Jew who likely spends more time criticizing the "alt-right" than any notable conservative figure in America. BuzzFeed and The Washington Post ran the story and, despite a correction, did little to clear up their massive blunder.

The Post must operate under that mantra that two boneheaded and openly inaccurate assertions are better than one. The Post added: "Shapiro has previously claimed that the majority of Muslims are radicalized, a false assertion citing math that was later debunked by PunditFact, a fact-checking publication run by Poynter." Shapiro can easily prove he never made the claim, but he is dealing with a press that has its own view of reality.

By having an enemy of the Jews that the press refuses to recognize, we can very quickly descend into a world that mirrors the horrors of Nazi Germany. I think the devil is following the same game plan with the growing police-state technology. We have the reverse of what we should normally expect. Normally, a dictator comes before the authoritarian mechanism. In the case of anti-Semitism, we have hatred coming before the reason.

"Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it" (Jeremiah 30:7 KJV).

"Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake" (Matthew 24:9 (NKJV).

Trump's peace plan puts Israel's security first - By Boaz Bismuth -

In an exclusive interview with "Israel Hayom" Editor-in-Chief Boaz Bismuth, the former U.N. ambassador says she has read the plan and that "Israel should not be worried," and that Abbas revealed his true colors by refusing to come to the table.

Nikki Haley may no longer be the United States' permanent representative to the United Nations, but her passion for defending Israel is as strong as ever.

The Jewish community in the United States and Israelis by and large treated Haley as the superstar of the Trump administration because she relentlessly took the United Nations to task and put a mirror in front of the international organization, revealing just how biased it was toward Israel.""
Now, as a private citizen, she takes pains to assure Israelis they have nothing to fear regarding the administration's peace efforts, just weeks before the rollout of the economic component of its peace plan. She says U.S. President Donald Trump's peace team considers Israel's security paramount.

Haley sat down for an interview with Israel Hayom Editor-in-Chief Boaz Bismuth on Thursday in New York. The following are excerpts from the interview.

Q: Later this month, the administration will roll out the economic component of its peace plan. Some in Israel are worried that the U.S. would want something from Israel in return for recognizing Jerusalem as its capital and recognizing its sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Should Israel be worried about the plan?

"Israel should not be worried. Because through the Middle East plan, one of the main goals that [Senior Adviser to the President] Jared Kushner and [U.S. Special Representative for International Negotiations] Jason Greenblatt focused on was to not hurt the national security interests of Israel. They understand the importance of security, they understand the importance of keeping Israel safe. I think everybody needs to go into it with an open mind, everybody should want a peace plan. Everybody should want to make way for a better situation in Israel and I think it can happen. So rather than pushing back against what we don't know, I hope everybody would lean in on what the possibilities [...] of the peace plan could look like and think of a better life for everyone."

Knowing the two sides and all the actors in the Middle East, does it have a chance?

"I am an optimist. It's not going to be easy. Both sides won't love it. And both sides won't hate it. But both sides have to want peace. And if they do, they will be deciding the details. Not the U.S. And I think it is worth taking that chance. It is worth trying for. At this point, it is hard to see an opportunity in which Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is even going to come to the table, and I think that ... it shows Abbas's true colors. It shows the Arab community's true colors, that they [the Arab states] don't really care about the Palestinians, because if the Palestinians were that much of a priority, everybody would be holding Abbas's hand and leading him to the table. Everybody and Abbas himself would want better."

Are you familiar with some of the details of the peace plan?

"I have read the plan, yes."

So you shared your opinion and advice on it?

"I read the plan and think it is very thoughtful, and very well done and it very much takes into account both sides' vulnerabilities and both sides' wants."

How is life outside the United Nations?

"It is nice to be a private citizen for the first time in eight years. That has been really nice, to bring the stress level down. But the issues I care about didn't go away, and the issues that I fought for are still very strong."

Is the U.N. an important institution?

"I think the question is, does the U.N. want to be an important institution. Right now it is very wasteful and very bureaucratic, it can be strongly anti-U.S. and clearly anti-Israel. So what I said to the secretary general and what I said to the ambassadors when I left was, 'The sustainability of the U.N. depends on those elements.' If they change with the times, the U.N. will be relevant. If they start talking about things that are uncomfortable, to talk instead of the decades-old problems that we have always talked about, they can possibly move, but if they continue going down the path they are on, it's very hard to see how they'll continue with effect."
