WORLD AT WAR: 9.28.19 - Is War on the Horizon?

Is War on the Horizon? - By Daymond Duck -

The events of this week could indicate that a storm is on the horizon.

Israel is being attacked almost every day, and it looks like the situation is going to get more intense after the upcoming Israeli elections (three days from the writing of this article) and the release of Pres. Trump's "Deal of the Century" (at some point shortly after the election).

First, concerning the attacks on Israel: on Sept. 8, 2019, Israel's Foreign Minister said Israel is very close to a military campaign in the Gaza Strip.

Four days later, Prime Min. Netanyahu said Israel has plans in place for a strike on Gaza.

The next day, Mr. Netanyahu said a war could break out at any moment.

It appears that Israel has finally decided that negotiating with the terrorists is worthless, and the only remaining choice is to send in the military to wipe out the terrorists.

It is important to understand that a war in Gaza could spread to other nations.

Second, concerning the upcoming Israeli elections, polls show the race is very tight.

Prime Min. Netanyahu has responded by promising, if elected, to immediately extend Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley and the north Dead Sea region.

Critics say Netanyahu made this promise to win the election, but God is in control, and it is possible that He made the election tight because He knew that Netanyahu would promise to annex more of the Promised Land.

Jesus said the Fig Tree will put forth leaves (grow; Matt. 24:32) so Israel must extend her borders.

If Netanyahu is elected, Israel's enemies are likely to start a war to stop him, so it is not unreasonable to expect trouble.

Third, also concerning the upcoming election, there is a small political party in Israel called Jewish Power (or Jewish Strength).

Early polls revealed that Jewish Power wouldn't get enough votes to win anything, but the group came out in favor of rebuilding the Temple, and all of the major polls suddenly started showing them winning at least four seats in the 120-member Knesset.

The election is so tight that Jewish Power's four seats could decide who heads up the next government.

The candidate that gets the most votes will probably have to make concessions on religious issues to get the support of Jewish Power.

Without concessions, the winning candidate is not likely to be Prime Minister.

This could have a major impact on fulfilling prophecy, expanding Israel's borders, rebuilding the Temple, resuming the animal sacrifices, war, etc.

Fourth, before Netanyahu promised to immediately extend Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley and the north Dead Sea region if elected, he consulted with the Trump administration.

In essence, he was told that annexing the Jordan Valley and the north Dead Sea region will not impact Pres. Trump's peace proposal.

This signals that Trump's Deal of the Century will recommend that those areas be kept under Israeli sovereignty.

All of this is just speculation, but this is something that is real: expanding the borders of Israel and rebuilding the Temple have become issues in this election.

World leaders (the UN, EU and some Muslim leaders) do not like this, and they are saying they will not recognize it.

Several Arab leaders (Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Jordan) are calling it an act of aggression.

Fifth, as this article is being written, there is breaking news that the two largest oil facilities in Saudi Arabia have been attacked.

There are reports of several loud explosions and a huge fire.

This is another reason to ask, "Is war on the horizon?"

If it is, this world could change very fast.

Keep looking up.

Senior IDF general: 'Iran could fire cruise missiles at Israel from Iraq' - By Yoav Limor -

"We are starting to approach the level of war" with Iran, a "very sophisticated enemy," says IDF Military Intelligence Research Division head Dror Shalom.

Iran could fire missiles at Israel like the ones it sent flying at Saudi Arabia last week, IDF Military Intelligence's Research Division head Brig. Gen. Dror Shalom told Israel Hayom in a special Rosh Hashanah interview.

According to Shalom, the military's working assumption is that Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran's elite Quds Force, would be the one to oversee a missile attack of that type, which Shalom said could be launched from Iraqi territory.

"In the end, when he [Soleimani] takes a hit to the nose, he wants to hit back, and he has taken some blows recently. So my working assumption is that it's only a matter of time until he tries," said Shalom.

Such an attempt could involve not only missiles but also long-range drones.
"It could be in the form of a surface-to-surface missile, cruise missiles, or long-range UAVs [Unmanned Aerial Vehicles]. He has UAVs that can fly 1,000-1,200 kilometers, which he has used in the Persian Gulf," said Shalom.

He expressed major concern about the progress Iran is making with its nuclear program, saying Military Intelligence might be forced to divert resources to address the issue.

"I'm a lot less easy today. We've gotten into a gray area ... which requires us to be a lot more sensitive. Will we know [about an attack]? The Iranians are a very sophisticated enemy, and it bothers me," he said.

According to Shalom, the chance of a major escalation between Israel and Iran is higher now than in the past.

"We're living in a much more complicated reality, which is only getting worse. We are starting to approach the level of war," he warned.

Shalom also said the same volatility existed on Israel's other fronts, although Iran remained the biggest threat.

"We're in a dangerous round with Iran, and we need to keep a strong grip on the wheel," he said. However, he added, Israel has room to maneuver, although that room should be used "with great caution."

He also thinks that if Israel adheres to a tough policy on Hezbollah's precision-guided missile project, the organization might give it up, even though it would come at the price of battles against Hezbollah.

Shalom characterized Hezbollah's missiles as a "serious strategic threat," but stressed that Hezbollah does not currently have precision missiles in Lebanon.

Russia's Eastern Mediterranean strategy explained - analysis - Douglas J. Feith, Shaul Chorev -

Russia is taking advantage of the power vacuum created by America's desire to disengage from the Middle East. As president, Barack Obama launched the policy of "pivoting" away from the region, and President Donald Trump is carrying that policy forward. As a result, Russia is emerging as a dominant military and political force in the region.

For its decisive military support to Assad, Russia has been rewarded with military facilities in Syria - the Tartus naval facilty and the Khmeimim Air Base - that are crucial for logistics and from which it can project power into the Middle East, the Balkans and farther west along the Mediterranean. In conflict, Russia is positioned to execute an area-denial strategy against the United States.

In Syria, Russia's military decisively affected the civil war and also tested and demonstrated capabilities that showed off Russian boldness, lethality, flexibility and reach. Its attacks included the first combat use of various types of Russian precision-guided munitions.

Russia is also using Syria as testing ground for its electronic warfare capabilities. In April 2018, the US Special Operations Command chief commented, "Right now in Syria we are operating in the most aggressive EW [electronic warfare] environment on the planet." Our adversaries, he added, "are testing us every day, knocking our communications down, disabling our EC-130s, et cetera."

Russia attacked Syrian rebel targets from the Caspian Sea and Eastern Mediterranean using Kilo submarine-launched and surface-ship-launched cruise missiles. It struck Raqqa in Syria from a submarine in the Mediterranean. It sent a private contractor military force - referred to in press reports as "paid Russian mercenaries" or "little green men" - to fight for the Assad regime. Its manned aircraft bombed Syria from a base in Iran. During the summer of 2018, to support Assad's attack on Syria's last major rebel base, Russia deployed a substantial naval force into the Mediterranean, including a Kuznetzov-class aircraft carrier.

Through maritime operations, Russia has extended the range of its military influence. The Russian presence creates new "rules of the game" throughout the Middle East, affecting the US and Israel's ability to operate freely.

Russia's basing arrangements in the Levant will allow it to stage, repair and operate autonomous underwater systems. It already has advanced surveillance, reconnaissance and operational capabilities for interdicting undersea communications cables. Its Syria-based submarines in the Mediterranean not only can launch cruise missiles at land targets, but also threaten undersea infrastructure. Britain's chief of defense warned in December 2017, "There is a new risk to our way of life that is the vulnerability of the cables that crisscross the seabed. Can you imagine a scenario where those cables are cut or disrupted, which would immediately and potentially catastrophically affect both our media and economy, as well as other ways of living?"

RUSSIA HAS multiple reasons to intervene in the Eastern Mediterranean: to aid Syrian regime allies of longstanding, to bolster its new alliance with Turkey and Iran, and otherwise to gain leverage against the United States. Among its main interests, however is increasing world energy prices. As has been true for decades, the Russian economy is largely the business of exporting oil and gas. Russia and President Vladimir Putin depend for their existence on high prices for energy. It is surprising how many articles are written about Russia's Middle East policies or its other foreign policies that fail to mention this point.

A key to understanding what Russia is doing in the Eastern Mediterranean region is to recognize that it wants to have the power to influence the energy-related decisions of Saudi Arabia and other important producing states. This helps explain why it is wrong to assume that Russia shares US interests in Middle East stability. On the contrary, Russia often favors instability precisely because it contributes to upward pressure on energy prices.

Russia also has a major interest in arms sales. Because Russia's business interests receive too little attention, they warrant emphasis, though Russia's policies are not driven solely by such considerations.

When Russia helped save the Assad regime, it ensured the success of Iran's pro-Assad investment and effectively aligned itself with the Shi'ite axis of the Iranian regime, the Syrian regime and Hezbollah. This gives it leverage both with the axis and with the opponents of that axis: Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other Sunni-run states, as well as Israel.

In Israel's intensifying clash with Iran in Syria, Russia occupies a strategic position. Israel has used its aircraft in Syria to keep Iranian forces away from the Israeli border. Russia, however, is the dominant military power in Syria, so Israel needs its cooperation, or at least its acquiescence, in the campaign to keep Iran at bay.

Accordingly, from the head-of-government level on down, Israel has cultivated close communication with Russia regarding Syria. Russia is not actively restraining Iran, but neither is it preventing Israeli strikes against Iranian forces in Syria. Russia appears to want to avoid any confrontation between its own forces and Israel. Israeli and Russian military commanders have arranged to de-conflict their operations. Russia is improving Syria's air defenses. It has delivered S-300 air defense missile batteries and is training the Syrians to use them. Meanwhile, Russian soldiers are presumably manning these batteries. The S-300 could threaten Israeli aircraft and, if upgraded to the longer-range S-400, the danger would increase. Putin has said he wants all foreign troops to leave Syria. This seems to apply to Iranian and Turkish but not Russian troops.

US OFFICIALS worry about Russia's increasing military power in the Eastern Mediterranean, though Trump has not demanded that Russia remove its forces from Syria. It would serve US interests if Russia were successfully pressured into leaving Syria now that ISIS is largely gone.

Some US officials, though not publicly, have suggested that Israel should apply such pressure. Their implication is that Israel should focus less on cooperating with Russia in Syria and more on making it uncomfortable for Russian forces to entrench there.

Criticism along these lines is not US policy, but it creates an irritant in the US-Israeli relationship. Each country would benefit from a clearer understanding of the other's strategic concerns.

Israeli officials say they are not in a position to treat Russia as an enemy. A major dispute with Russia would make it harder, if not impossible, for Israel to strike Iranian forces in Syria - and that is Israel's main interest there, an interest that the United States shares (whether or not publicly stated). The Israelis do not want Russia defending Iranian forces in Syria. They do not want Israeli forces fighting Russian forces, nor do they want Russia deploying its most advanced air defenses in Syria.

During the Cold War, when Israel worked with the United States in direct opposition to the Soviets and their clients, the strategic environment was different. Unlike now, the Middle East was a high US priority. The United States maintained a strong military posture there, dominated the Mediterranean Sea and actively worked to contain Soviet influence.

After the Cold War and especially since the George W. Bush administration, US policy toward the region changed. The bywords for US strategy became "pivot" and "disengagement." Trump shares his predecessor's desire to disengage from the Middle East and keep American involvement in Syria to a minimum. The United States has no plans to restore its Cold War-era military strength in the Mediterranean. US officials are not pressing Russia to withdraw its forces from Syria. Under the circumstances, it is not realistic to expect Israel do so.

IT WOULD be a mistake, however, to fail to recognize that many US officials view Russia with intense and well-grounded concern. That Russia for its own reasons gives Israel a free hand against Iran in Syria should not blind anyone to the disturbing essence of President Putin's aggressive activities.

Examples abound. They include Russia's seizures of territory in Georgia and Ukraine and brazen assassinations of anti-Putin critics - journalists and politicians - perpetrated at home and abroad. Russia directs cyber operations against the United States and exerts itself to influence US elections. Putin has invested heavily in modernizing Russia's nuclear forces, strategic and tactical. His government is producing nuclear-capable missiles prohibited by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which is why the US government withdrew from the treaty in August 2019.

Russia is also conducting explosive nuclear testing in violation of its promise to adhere to the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban. Russian military aircraft "buzz" - that is, challenge in close encounters - US ships and aircraft. These tactics were commonplace during the Cold War and both sides agreed to formal measures intended to limit the risks of such behavior. Russia has announced that it has successfully tested hypersonic weapons that can defeat current US missile defenses. Having invaded Ukraine to seize the Crimean Peninsula, Russian naval forces blocked the Sea of Azov.

Israeli officials can pursue necessary cooperation with Russia in Syria while still reassuring the United States that they take Russian provocations seriously. And they can reassure their American friends that Israel values its ties to the United States above its other international relationships. Pragmatic, unsentimental Israeli officials may not be accustomed to ritualistic pledges of friendship and loyalty of this kind, but it would be a mistake to underestimate their importance.

Strategic alliances are not self-perpetuating. It takes conscious effort by alliance supporters to preserve trust between the partners at the official level and, in democratic countries, to preserve crucial popular support. It can be fatal to take these matters for granted. If the alliance is not explained, reaffirmed and put into action over and over again across the years, it will lose support in the government or in the population in general. New officials and legislators come into office continually and have no knowledge of how the alliance proved itself mutually valuable in the past. Senior officials - longtime veterans of close allied cooperation - often assume that the alliance's premises are so well and widely known that they go without saying. That is a dangerous mistake, however. If its principles and benefits are not continually restated and celebrated, an alliance can easily become vulnerable to domestic attack, with allies disparaged for free riding, weakness or lack of loyalty.

A senior US statesman once likened maintaining a strategic relationship to fighting weeds in a garden - constant attention is required to keep the irritants from taking over. The high value to both parties of the US-Israeli defense partnership amply justifies the garden-tending work.

Douglas J. Feith, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, served as US undersecretary of defense for policy. Adm. Shaul Chorev, head of the Research Center for Maritime Policy and Strategy at the University of Haifa, served as deputy chief of the Israeli Navy and as head of Israel's Atomic Energy Commission. This article is excerpted and adapted from a recent report on maritime security by the University of Haifa-Hudson Institute Consortium on the Eastern Mediterranean.

Abundant Life

Abundant Life - by Greg Laurie -

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.-John 10:10

After Johnny Cash's intense detoxification, his sobriety was still a work in progress, but the following winter Cash's daughters came for their first visit to his new home. Being reunited with them was glorious. One night after they'd gone to bed, Cash went to his room and looked out the window at snow gently drifting down. Having the girls there and the picture postcard scene outside suddenly imbued him with a serenity he hadn't felt since he couldn't remember when. He sank to his knees to thank God for everything good in his life and for sparing him from the bad end he'd come so close to for so long. Cash also acknowledged that he still had far to go, and entreated, "Don't give up on me, Lord. I can't make it without You."

God had kept His promise to Johnny. God set "death and life" (Deuteronomy 30:19) before the singer as He does with all of us. Cash chose life, and not a moment too soon.

It comes as a surprise to some that the hope of the follower of Jesus is not just life after death in Heaven. Of course, that would be more than enough, but the Lord also offers a dimension of life during life. Medical science seeks to add years to our life, while Jesus Christ offers life to our years. Jesus promised an abundant, fulfilling, rich life if we will walk closely with Him. Johnny was doing that now, and instead of feeling hemmed in, he felt like he had been set free. I'm sure he wondered why he had not done it sooner.

Scripture Reading:

1. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 NKJV)

Have you experienced the abundant life that Jesus promised? If so, in what ways?

2. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy. (Psalm 107:1-2 NKJV)

What are the things in your life that you can give thanks for now?

3. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV)

Have you experienced the peace that passes understanding? How would you describe peace?

A Lesson in Love

A Lesson in Love - Mike Carey - silverwood08@gmail.com

What is Love?

Most people would describe love as a strong feeling of affection for another person, place or thing.

In the bible, God describes the characteristics of love as follows:

"Love is patient; love is kind and envies no one. Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude; never selfish, not quick to take offence. Love keeps no score of wrongs; does not gloat over another's sins, but delights in the truth. There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, its hope, and its endurance. In a word, there are three things that last forever: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of them all is love." (1 Corinthians 13)

Loving Another Person

Love is a choice. You can love anyone, and you often choose to love another person because of how they make you feel when you are with them. When you truly love another person, you want the highest and best for that person, putting their needs, their happiness and their welfare, ahead of your own. Your goal is to always lift them up, protect them and to provide for them. True love is sacrificial in nature.

The Five Love Languages

Love languages are qualities that make a person feel loved, and are the way to lift up the other person. Each person has a primary and a secondary love language. It is imperative to find and practice the language that makes the other person feel loved. Too often, we try to love someone in our own love language and do not understand why they do not respond in the way we expect them to. Lifting a person up by practicing their love language is the way to make love grow and for it to be much stronger. This also builds positive memories, which are vital in a growing relationship.

1.     Physical Touch - may just include a caress, holding hands, or any touch that tells the other person, ¨I love you¨.

2.     Gift Giving - is a way of showing love. When a person´s love language is in that category, the size of the gift is not important. It is the love and care behind it that matters.

3.     Quality Time - usually includes anything you do together because you value each other. It will often include some or all of the love languages.

4.     Words of Endearment - Sometimes, are just the way we refer to the other person, ie honey, sweetheart, etc. Strangers probably think that my name is ¨Baby¨ because that is what my wife calls me all the time. Sincere compliments are a must in this category, which include telling the other person how nice they look, how beautiful/handsome they are, etc..
5.     Acts of Service - Doing things for the other person, not expecting anything in return. Selfless service is an integral part of love, and it makes the other person feel of value.
Note: Practicing the love languages daily will build a strong and growing love relationship.

What Destroys Love

If lifting up the other person builds love, then it is obvious that the opposite, or tearing down the other person, destroys love. The worst weapons of destruction are criticism, judging, and condemnation. If you truly love someone, it is imperative to avoid the use of the above. Even so, disagreements will happen, and some of the these will surface from time to time. If this occurs, the remedy is to immediately seek forgiveness. It does not matter who is right or wrong. Forgiveness is the answer, and will restore the love relationship. It is interesting that, if the one who was offended is the first to seek forgiveness, the other person will realize that they were wrong and ask forgiveness too. To be unforgiving does more damage to the one who possesses it than to the other person.

God is the Source of Love

¨God demonstrated His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us¨. Romans 5:8   The command of God is this: ¨Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And, Love your neighbor as your self.¨ Mathew 22:37-39   Real love comes from God and is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, ie love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control. It is impossible to know real love without knowing God. God´s love is selfless and directed outward, toward others. Human love is selfish and is directed inward, with the attitude of ¨what´s in it for me? ¨ There is only one way to know God and to have eternal life. You must be born again. ¨ John 3:3 There is no other way. Religion, people, or good works will not save you. Jesus Christ died on a cross to pay for your sin. Only by recognizing Him as the Son of God, asking Him to forgive your sin, and putting your trust in Him and Him alone to save you, are you born again? ¨And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son, has life. He who does not have the Son, does not have life. 1 John 5:11-13 ¨For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.¨John 3:16

Living in the Last of the Last Days

God validated His word in the bible by telling us history in advance, called prophecy. God is outside of our time domain and only He knows the beginning from the end. He told us exactly what would happen in the very last days of life on earth. All of the things that he said would happen in the very last days are happening now, for the first time. The signs are obvious to those who are looking, and they indicate that Jesus is coming soon. Every aspect of society, worldwide, is in the state of decay and collapse. This includes the weather, the economy, health, food production, governments, water supplies, infrastructures, and society itself. We used to be dependent on God as the provider of all of these, but we have turned our back on God and have removed Him from all aspects of society. So, He is letting us go our own way. The best definition of sin is, independence from God. Instead of being dependent upon Him for everything, we are now independent of Him, and the result is death and destruction. God is love. Love is a choice. Time is running out. Choose now to put your trust in Jesus to save you. To not make a choice, is the same as making a choice. ¨For by grace are you saved through faith, and not of yourself, it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

A First Since Days of Noah: Animal Sacrifice to Restore God's Covenant

A First Since Days of Noah: Animal Sacrifice to Restore God's Covenant - By David Sidman -

Then Noach built an altar to Hashem and, taking of every clean animal and of every clean bird, he offered burnt offerings on the altar. Genesis 8:20

The Conference of the Organization of the 70 Nations hosted a ceremony on Thursday whereby an animal sacrifice was offered on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. The objective - to renew the covenant made between God and all of mankind.

Breaking Israel News writer Eliyahu Berkowitz was at the scene throughout the entire event and even recorded it in a Facebook Live video below:

The original sacrifice, known as a a korban olah (burnt offering), was made by Noah when he exited the Ark following the flood:

Then Noach built an altar to Hashem and, taking of every clean animal and of every clean bird, he offered burnt offerings on the altar. Genesis 8:20

The event, however, was almost canceled. That's because when the original butcher who was supposed to slaughter the lamb at the event canceled last minute, a righteous gentile named Malachi, who just happened to have four years experience slaughtering animals, was miraculously in attendance. After being called upon, Malachi broke down in tears saying that he's "dreamed about this moment all week." He stepped up and slaughtered the lamb and also helped burn it on the altar - an altar that Jews were forbidden from helping them erect. See the incredible story here:
After the ritual slaughter took place, the fire from the sacrifice burned smoke to the heavens as seen here:
"You can't go through something like this and be apathetic. Everybody walked out of this ceremony totally transformed and totally intent on serving God to the best of their ability" said an emotional Berkowitz calling it an Abrahamic moment.

Malachi added: "I knew I was going to do this before I came to Israel. 'He' (God) gave me the strength to do this today." Every one of these stones that fit together is unique. He's bringing his stones now to build the Temple and it's us. It's us together. "

During a joint interview, both Malachi and Berkowitz recited the verse in Psalms saying:

The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. Psalms 118:22

How Long, How Long, O Lord?

How Long, How Long, O Lord? - By Gene Lawley -

That question reaches back to the time of the Apostle Peter's second epistle when, in a negative sense, the hopeless outlook was voiced in 2 Peter 3:3-4, "Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.'"

(This article has a two-fold intention of directing the reader's understanding that Jesus will come at His Appointed Time, whether long-time or short-time for the individual, and that every person should remain ready for His coming. Being ready means to be faithful to our calling, for it is written that "our gifts and calling are without repentance" (Romans 11:29).

Notice that Peter is prophesying that "in the last days" there will be scoffers who decry that promise of the Lord's return. Some have observed that perhaps those people are believers, for non-believers would likely not be aware of any such promise. At least, they will have some insight about the promises of God that redemption is forthcoming. Nevertheless, Peter's response sets them straight, that God is patient, giving plenty of time for mankind to respond in repentance. What is one day compared to a thousand years when eternal destiny is facing them? The context goes on to say, in verse 9, "God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

We cannot fail to notice that those early apostles and disciples were very expectant that Jesus would return in a short time. Their last question to Jesus was "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" (Acts 1:6) But answering back, Jesus pointed them back to Jerusalem, saying, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

We find later that the Jews do not respond to that witness of Jesus as the Redeemer, thus Peter, Paul and the other disciples turn to the Gentiles. Paul wrote of this in Romans 11:25, saying, "For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in." The apostles confirmed this at the Jerusalem Conference recorded in Acts 15, concluding that God had, indeed, planned from former days that He would "take out of the Gentiles a people for His name." Thus, we see the birth of the true church, the body of Christ, as Matthew 16:16-18 declares and Acts 1:8 announces.

Then follows centuries of time when God "is not willing that any should perish, but all should come to repentance," as 2 Peter 3:9 informs us. Often, it seems, Jesus is saying to His followers, "Watch, for you do not know the day nor the hour when your Lord shall return" We tend to toy with the question, "Why watch if we do not know when He will come?" That is linked with the question in 2 Peter 3:4 mentioned above.

Typical of those warnings Jesus relates are the three parables together in Matthew 24:45 through 25:1-30. He tells of the faithful servant parable, then the one of the ten bridesmaids, then that of the ten talents.

The middle one uses the traditional Jewish wedding as the setting where ten bridesmaids are caught with the knowledge of the groom's imminent return for his bride (after being away for a year to prepare a place for his bride). The duty of the bridesmaids was to protect the bride during the pending time, to keep her pure, well-adorned for the groom when he comes. The picture is that of the church, the bride of Christ, being made ready for the Groomsman to come for her. It is the scenario of the Rapture, but Jesus does not come for the bridesmaids, the virgins, but for the bride. The fact that the bridesmaids, those who have been assigned or called to care for the body of Christ, are not totally ready for His return is the challenge of today. Five of them-one-half-were without oil for their lamps, signifying a lack of spirituality.

How many church leaders no longer keep their members ready for the return of the Lord, or even that moment when any one of us may breathe his last breath? "Watch, for you do not know what day or hour He is coming!"

However, we have the disclosure in Matthew 7:13-14 that many will not turn to the Lord in repentance: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." It seems uncanny that many would place such little value on their eternal destiny, but that is, and has been, the way of mankind since Cain killed his brother, Abel.

Think about those two criminals who were crucified on either side of Jesus Christ. The one railed on the Savior for not saving Himself and them if He was, indeed, the Christ. He wanted immediate satisfaction without regard to his deserved (apparently) punishment. The other thief, however, faced the truth of his situation; and recognizing the One hanging between them, he asked for remembrance as he entered his eternal destiny. Notice that this second man did not need to do much to effect repentance of his evil deeds-just to admit that he deserved his punishment and ask for favorable attention.

The Scriptures hold all mankind accountable before God by their knowledge of right and wrong which is embedded in their consciences from their creation. Romans 2:15-16 speaks of those who have never heard, even, of Jesus Christ in this way: "...who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel." It reminds one of that passage that says, "Two will be working in a field-one will be taken, the other left." Side by side, believers and nonbelievers together, yet....

Reading about Esau and Jacob, sons of Isaac, and the son of Abraham, we can see a difference in Esau that Jacob did not portray, even though the latter was a man of cunning and deceit (with the help of his mother). Read of Esau's problem in Hebrews 12:16-17 which describes his core character: "...a profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears."

Eternal destiny is forfeited for momentary satisfaction, thus exposing the one likeness of the human species to the animal kingdom-satisfaction right now!

One of my early mentors told of an experience he had as a young Christian serving in a rescue mission. He was talking with a man who had come in for a free meal. As Roy told him of the salvation Jesus offers, the man responded with a desire to receive Christ as his Savior. Roy suggested that he pray to ask God's forgiveness and invite Jesus into his life. The man began praying, "Now I lay me down to sleep; I pray the Lord my soul to keep..." and Roy interrupted him to ask, "What is the meaning of this?" The man replied, "Roy, I have accepted Christ all across this nation for a bowl of soup!"

Somewhere along the way that man had lost the consciousness of right and wrong and had become an empty vessel. "The road to destruction is broad and many there be upon it."

Thus, we see the extended mercy of God, that He would delay that day of reckoning, that He "desires none should perish, but that all should come to repentance." The Scripture seems to put it so simply: "For whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). A flippant, insincere call will not be answered, but one that is filled with a repentant attitude is the kind that is God's desire. He says in Jeremiah 29:13, "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

When Jesus came on the scene some two thousand years ago, the Jews were looking for a king who would take them out of the control of the Romans. They did not think they needed a savior for their eternal destiny. Mankind does not realize that it has been more likely that one of them would use up his allotted seventy or eighty years (Psalm 90:10), or even fewer than that, before Jesus comes back. As the rich man, who was going to build bigger barns to hold his abundance of grain, was told, "You fool; this night your soul will be required of you" (Luke 12:20).

It would be hard to find any outlook of eternal significance than that of Jim Elliot, one of the five martyrs who were killed by Auca natives in Ecuador that Sunday, January 8, 1956, who had said, "He is no fool who gives that which he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose!"

Israel Update

By Hal Lindsey

On Monday, September 23rd, the Likud party of Benjamin Netanyahu and the Blue and White party of Benjamin Gantz agreed to pursue a "unity government" for Israel. Negotiating teams are set to begin working out details of the proposed government on October 1st. It will be a difficult and treacherous process.

After the election in April, a government could not be formed. So, in September, just a few days ago, Israel held another election. Again, there was no clear-cut winner. Gantz's Blue and White party won 33 seats and Netanyahu's Likud won 31 seats, leaving them both a long way from the 61 seats needed to form a majority.

Israel has a parliamentary system of government. They call their legislative body the "Knesset." That name comes from Knesset HaGdola, meaning "Great Assembly." According to tradition, Ezra formed the Great Assembly. It was a religious council of 120 scribes, sages, and prophets. While it would be difficult to find a sage or prophet in the modern Knesset, the number remains fixed at 120 - requiring 61 seats to create a majority.

Reuven Rivlin serves as President of Israel. The President has many ceremonial jobs but few actual powers. The most significant of his powers is in facilitating a new government following each election. The President must consult with Knesset members to determine who has the best chance of forming a governmental majority.

After recent polling of the Knesset, he found that Netanyahu had a slight advantage with 55 backers, compared to Gantz's 54. That 54 includes the backing of the Israeli Arab party. It would be difficult to raise either of those numbers to 61, thus the proposed unity government.

Such a government would require some means of sharing power. From 1984 to 1988, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Shamir took turns acting as Prime Minister. While possible, such an arrangement between Netanyahu and Gantz has, at least until now, seemed highly unlikely.

A few days ago, Gantz cited impending indictments against Netanyahu as reasons against pursuing a unity government. Despite the accusations and investigations, formal charges have not been filed against the Prime Minister. He continues to deny all the accusations. The Attorney General of Israel is scheduled to announce a decision on whether to indict on October 3rd. That greatly complicates the process of forming a government.

People tire of politicians. Winston Churchill stands as one of the great figures of the 20th century. He held his nation together during the terrible German blitz. After helping to lead the Allies to victory in World War II, he almost immediately lost his job as Prime Minister in 1945. That's just how the world works.

It's easy to forget what things were like in Israel when Bibi Netanyahu became Prime Minister. Bus bombs and intifadas made every moment of every day feel like a life or death struggle. Syria and Hezbollah constantly threatened from the north. Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak almost gave away East Jerusalem. Thankfully, Yasser Arafat thought he could get even more, and turned the deal down. Benjamin Netanyahu changed all that. He brought the kind of stability that is necessary for national progress and economic prosperity.

He built an amazing record, but he also accumulated enemies. Those enemies include much of the Israeli and international press corps, as well as liberals in his own and other countries. Nevertheless, he stands as a towering figure in the history of modern Israel - the man Israel needed for the times in which he led.

Those of us who love Israel can hope his leadership will continue during the turbulent days to come. If not, we can be thankful for his leadership to this point.

The Book of Daniel teaches that the revived nation of Israel will one day join in a treaty with the Antichrist. The confirmation of that treaty will mark the beginning of what is popularly known as "the Tribulation." The present turmoil in Israel seems to be bringing the world closer to that day.

Anyone who wants to understand the book of Revelation, needs to understand certain key passages in the Book of Daniel. On this week's Hal Lindsey Presents, I pause the study of Revelation 6, and go back to the book of Daniel. There, we will look at the greatest single prophecy in the Bible.

Chapters 6-19 of Revelation deal with a specific seven-year period - the tribulation. We learn about that seven-year period in Daniel. How do we know that Revelation is speaking of the same seven years that Daniel spoke of? I'll show you this week.

In Daniel 9, we learn about "seventy sevens." Some Bible translations say, "seventy weeks." The Bible is absolutely clear that these are weeks of years, not days. On this program, I'll show you how we know that. We will also look at how the historical record lines up with this prophecy. It shows that Jesus presented Himself to Israel as the Messiah on - not just the year - but the very day Daniel prophesied that He would!

Folks, the Bible is true! You can trust it with your whole life.

Daniel divides these 70 weeks of years into three parts with the third part being only one week of years. There was no pause between the first two parts. But the clock stopped at the end of the 69th week. How do we know that? Because the prophecy itself told us it would. It told us things that would happen between the 69th week and the 70th week. Then it tells us exactly what starts that clock rolling again and marks the beginning of the 70th week.

I'll explain all this and more on this week's program. You've heard that the Temple must be rebuilt. How do we know that? The prophecies we look at this week require a rebuilt Temple. We know it will happen because God says it will happen.

When C. I. Scofield first published his Study Bible in 1909, critics scoffed at his literal interpretation of prophecy. He showed that for the prophecies to be true, Israel must exist in the last days. The critics laughed. They pointed out that Israel had disappeared as a nation 1,800 years earlier.

Scofield said that he didn't know how it would happen, but he knew it would happen because that's what the Bible teaches. He stuck with the Bible, and God's word did not let him down. It won't let us down, either.

I think you'll be fascinated and thrilled by this week's Hal Lindsey Presents. Look for it on Daystar, Sunday at 11PM Eastern Time. Or watch the program online anytime at www.hallindsey.com or www.hischannel.com. If you missed any episodes in this study, you can catch up by visiting www.hallindsey.com/videos/.

The following week, Sunday October 6th, Daystar will be in the midst of its "Fall Heart for the World" campaign. That means there will be no new Hal Lindsey Presents on Sunday, October 6th. But don't worry. You won't miss a thing. We will start back into Revelation the following Sunday, right where we leave off this Sunday. Thank you again for your faithfulness in supporting this ministry.

God Bless,

Hal Lindsey

God is a Consuming Fire

God is a Consuming Fire - By Pastor Mike Taylor -

7 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1st John 4:7-10)

Most people agree that for salvation a Christian needs more than just a theoretical knowledge of God. Over the course of our lives, we increase our knowledge of Him through life's varied experiences. We also come to a greater understanding by studying God's Word. In both areas we can be snared by a major problem that traps many religious people in this world: emphasizing one of His attributes at the expense of others.

I have a Roman Catholic friend who lives in France, who is focused on this one attribute of God, that God is love, and since God is a loving God, all is good, and I fear that he believes that a loving God will not send anyone to a burning hell. He hasn't come right and said it that I can recall, but is definitely "hung up" on this one attribute and cannot see other attributes of the God we serve.

God is not one dimensional. Though we should study each of His attributes and think on them separately, we should not separate them from the complete personality that God is. Why? It distorts the model we are to imitate and grow into, and it can radically alter our expectations of what He will do. If He does not do what we expect, we are liable to become grieved because God "let us down."

For instance, the Bible emphasizes that God is merciful and full of grace. We are very thankful that God is a merciful and loving God, but God is much more than one or two dimensions of His character. We should not make the mistake besides all of the many attributes that are what our God is, we should not overlook the fact the God is also just. If we do, His mercy can become a justification for failure to overcome besetting sins. Neither God's mercy nor justice can be separated from all that He is. Both are harmoniously applied to each situation and person He judges.

SOME OF THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD

God is also a God of compassion. Some see God as so compassionate that He disregards the causes of some horrible problems and trials we endure in this life. If God acted in such a manner, flaws with painful results would go uncorrected.

Make no mistake about it, God will discipline those He loves.

5 "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons." (Hebrews 12:5-8)

Some so erroneously believe that God created His creation and then just walked away. God is very much involved with the plan to redeem mankind and nothing escapes His gaze or His knowledge.

Still others construe God's sovereignty so that it is greatly diminished His goodness and portrays Him as rigid and inflexible. This kind of person lives with a guilt-ridden, fearful and discouraged life, thinking he will never please Him.
6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)

But probably the most familiar of God's attributes is found in the scripture used to open this message in 1st John 4:8 "God is love". John states a fact, not a definition of God's essential nature. If John had declared that love is what God is, we would be forced to conclude that God is what love is. Literally, if God is love, then literally, love is God and we are forced to worship love as the only True God. This would mean that God and love are identical. Fortunately for mankind, the Bible reveals that God is a multidimensional personality and not only just love. If we eliminate the idea of God's complex personality, denying all of His other attributes, save one, the remaining attribute becomes God, and is a very subtle form of idolatry. This is NOT only what God the Father is, or our Lord Jesus Christ.

THE WHOLENESS OF GOD

The wholeness of God is a concept that we must come to understand, that God is more than one or two attributes. It's an important subject because some have become enslaved to words. We must give greater weight to meanings. The Bible speaks that God is love and light.

3 "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." (1st John 1:3-5)

The Bible also speaks of our Jesus as being the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him." (John 14:6-7)

We understand the words in the same sense as when we say of a man, "He is kindness itself." Of course, we do not suggest that kindness and the man are identical, and no one misunderstands our intention. Because any man is more than just kindness, even the best man. So it is even more so with a infinite God we serve.

The words "God is love" mean that love is an essential attribute of God. Love is something true of God, but it is not all of God. He has many other attributes. He is self-existent, eternal, merciful, full of grace, immutable, just, omnipotent, omniscient and many more things besides, but the greatest of all is God is Holy.. Because God is Holy and immutable, He always acts as God, and because He is a whole and perfect personality, He never suspends one of His attributes to exercise another.

God is not man, with all of his imperfections. God is truth and never acts out of irritation, resentment, suddenly moody, or acts on a whim. He always acts in light of all the facts. King David declared in the Psalms:

7 "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward." (Psalm 19:7-11)

David also proclaimed further in another chapter in the Psalms :

5 "Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
7 He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth." (Psalm 105:5,7)

The beauty, harmony, balance and providence evident throughout the earth are witnesses of the wisdom, unity, harmony, and yes, the love in which He always acts.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, God proclaims:

23 "Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord." (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

HOW DO WE COME TO KNOW GOD AND HOW IMPORTANT IS IT?

"These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:1-3)

So how important is it to know God? As mentioned here, eternal life is knowing God.
It implies an intimate relationship with God that matures over a lifetime. Each party knows each other well, as familiarly as marriage partners.

1 "Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth." (Hosea 6:1-3)

So what of our God? Can we know Him. Yes, through His only begotten Son, can we come to know a loving, but fearfully powerful God?

6 "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." (Romans 5:6-10)

God loved us so much, that He sent His only Son, to die in our place....

"For God so loved the world that HE GAVE His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17, God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but the world through Him might be saved.
18, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18) "caps my emphasis"

The question was, "how can we come to know God?" The Apostle John gave a quick and concise way we can know God and know Him intimately...through His Son..

"Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." (1st John 2:23)

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." (Romans 5:1-9)

GOD IS JUST AND WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE

With all the attributes spoke briefly about an all power God, and our soon coming King, God is not some grandfatherly type living in the sky who is nothing but love, love, love. Although He embodies this attributes, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.

8 "Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." (Proverbs 9:8-10)

One might wonder why fear is included. It is because fear represents the specific attitude required to make the best use of God's law and bring the sinner to conviction through the Holy Spirit. Know this, reader. We don't come to God because we love God..we come to Him because we love ourselves. Love for Him comes later when we realize what He has done for us. As a small boy, I didn't come to God out of love, but realizing that I needed a Savior to cleanse me of my sins...I knew Jesus died on a old rugged cross, so that I might live forever. Falling in love with God came later, when I studied how much He loved me first, before I knew how to love Him.

10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11, There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12, They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." (Roman 3:10-12)

There is an element of fear to realize that we are in rebellion against God because of our sinful nature. Fear brings Godly conviction and I've seen men shake uncontrollably with the power of God upon them, as they are under God's conviction of their sins. The choice of life or death, darkness or light, eternity in heaven or in hell, drives those under this conviction to a Godly realization of their vulnerability to a Holy God who will judge them, even though He loves them. Paul speaks of this along with the Apostle Peter:

5 "But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)
6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? (Roman 3:5-6)

And Peter wrote:

5 "Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit." (1st Peter 4:5-6)

In addition, remember that wisdom is a right application of knowledge and understanding. If fear is not present, we will not even start to build towards faith, hope, and love. Godly fear gets us jump-started, gets us going to do what is right.

GOD IS LONG SUFFERING, BUT....

Although God is a loving God, He is patient and not willing that any of His creation perish.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward,not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2nd Peter 3:9)

But even a long suffering King of the Universe, patience does eventually run out. We have many instances found in your Bible of a long suffering God. Like when God gave the inhabitants in Canaan 400 years to change and repent, but sent Israel into the Promise Land and commanded them during their Exodus to destroy them:

"These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place" (Deuteronomy 12:2-3)

Just showing the fear of God and what God has done to bring His wrath on unrepentant mankind should give anyone pause and have reverence, and a Godly fear of an Almighty God who when He has finally run out of patience, will utterly destroy those who are in rebellion against Him. I know this will upset my Catholic friend who I debate on a local forum, but God is not only a God of love, He is also a God of judgment in His righteous indignation. But let us speak of the coming wrath that God will unleash on mankind in the near future.

THE WRATH OF A LOVING GOD

23 " To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire." (my emphasis)

There is a huge amount of verses in your Bible that speaks of the attributes of a Holy God. Yes, God is love, but He is also greatly to be feared. God will pass judgment on the whole of mankind and destroy all rebellion on this earth what is called the coming Tribulation. The final book of your Bible speaks of the wrath of God. You know that God of love? Although He is not willing any should perish, God gives you a choice. It's called your own freewill. God does not coerce anyone into loving Him or obeying Him...He gives us a choice of heaven or hell. He doesn't send anybody to hell...you do.

John sees the ultimate fate of all who refuse the free offer of grace and mercy through our Lord Jesus Christ:

11 "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:11-15)

Eternal separation from a Holy God, devoid of all love, joy, peace, happiness, comfort and being a part of a Holy Family for all eternity, now that is what I deem a literal hell, besides the physical torment.

GOD IS LOVE, YES, BUT HE IS SO MUCH MORE

We admire good qualities in others and wish we had them. But we realize that the same people who have these good qualities lack others. Our God, though, has every good quality to the ultimate degree, and every attribute works in perfect and faithful harmony.

Studying God in His wholeness should teach us humility, caution in speech and action and a deep reverence of Him. Too often God's superiority overwhelms us when we compare it to our own state. Though we are imperfect and limited in this life, we should not undervalue our current level of growth. Don't allow God's incomparable perfection to derail your progress. Growth in godly character and personality is our calling-we are to be like Him!

Human life is a beginning: God made us in His image and is transforming us into the image of His Son. This process requires our cooperation in striving to "put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him" (Colossians 3:10). This is His will. And in bringing us to His perfection, He reveals His whole nature so we can know it and allow Him to reproduce it in us.

To my friend, the Catholic online, God is love, that is true...BUT our God is a consuming FIRE. May we possess a Godly fear and reverence and not reject so great a salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God is calling all of mankind to repent, but some will not. The coming Tribulation is where God will deal with all who have failed to repent of their sins and call upon the only NAME that is above every name in true repentance of their sinful deeds, and that is Jesus Christ, the ONLY begotten Son of God.

8 "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:8-13)

I have often told my congregation that each of us were born for one purpose, besides living our own lives, but given a choice of what each of us will do with the God/Man, Jesus Christ. Will each of us submit our own pride in a humble and a contrite heart, knowing that we can't save ourselves, or let demonic pride cause us to reject a Holy God who stepped out of glory for one purpose and that was to save you, and me?

God calls each of us sometime during our lives. What will your answer be?

6 "Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts."
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart........
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." (Hebrews 4:6-7, 12-14)

Our God is love, but a Consuming Fire. Don't make that eternal mistake of ignoring the calling of God's Holy Spirit for the salvation of your soul through the only Way back to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
