WORLD AT WAR: 9.14.19 - Netanyahu Warns War With Gaza Could Break Out In Next Few Days

Israel's Long, Multi-Front Struggle Against Iran - By Fiamma Nirenstein - http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=3461

If you're an Israeli mother, then as the school year began on Sunday the thought uppermost in your mind was likely: Will my children be safe in the coming days? Are the bomb shelters ready? Have the teachers been trained to respond to alerts?

At the back of every Israeli mother's mind is a strange phrase: "Color Red." Echoing from loudspeakers, radios, and TVs, this phrase warns residents of towns in the western Negev that they have 15 seconds to seek shelter from incoming rockets. Heard thousands of times in recent years, it has become etched into the Israeli subconscious.

Israel's Iron Dome defense system often manages to stop the missiles from Gaza, but the threat grows more acute and sophisticated daily, not only in southern Israel but also in the north.

Shi'ite Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah possesses hundreds of thousands of missiles, which are just sitting there, pointed at Israel. Threats from Hezbollah's long-time leader Hassan Nasrallah have been in the air of late -- "Wait, we're coming," he says from his underground lair, just like a monster in a fairy tale.

Israel is unimpressed: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has invited Hezbollah to "calm down." Indeed, Israel is prepared for any attack -- but this requires constant vigilance, without a moment's respite. Israelis have to live in a very special way as a result; for example, dividing to exercise their democratic right to choose their leaders, but then coming together quickly, like the Red Sea closing on the ancient Egyptians.

Sometimes, however, the alerts and missile defense system aren't enough, resulting in death, destruction, and trauma. Israeli soldiers on the border are subject to constant ambushes. This is Israel today. It's a country forced to endlessly contain a long-term strategic plan for its destruction, driven not by the Palestinians but by Iran, the true "Islamic State," which is both stronger and smarter than the Sunni terrorist group.

Last Sunday evening in the western Negev town of Sderot near the Gaza border, a large crowd -- mostly families -- were enjoying a summer concert. Children danced, people relished the cool breeze. "Color Red" began to roar from the loudspeakers: "Open the gates, do not crowd, proceed immediately to the nearest bomb shelter. If you can't reach one, lie on the ground and cover your head."

Many couldn't reach a shelter in time; the ground was strewn with mothers covering their children with their own bodies.

Rocket exhaust glittered in the sky; Israel's macabre falling stars. Fortunately the Iron Dome blew them up in the air, but nonetheless families returned home horrified and frustrated.

The people of Israel live in manner unimaginable for most Europeans or Americans. These people must be heroes every day.

Israel's very high birth rate and constant celebration of life coexists with gritted teeth and an invincible determination to keep moving forward in the face of an implacable hatred that claims innocent lives seemingly on a weekly basis, whether by shootings, stabbings, bombings, vehicular assaults, rockets, or incendiary balloons -- while the Iranian threat on the border grows.

Iran's efforts to entrench itself on Israel's borders have gradually made it a constant presence for Israelis. Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the south, and Hezbollah in the north, are all funded and armed by this leading state sponsor of terrorism. An explosion is always around the corner, and Israel must often act swiftly to contain the threat, as was the case on Sunday, when Israel foiled an attack by Hezbollah.

Beyond its permanent presence in Lebanon and Gaza, Iran is also seeking to entrench itself in Syria. It is already a prominent presence in Iraq (where Israel has reportedly attacked Iran-linked weapons depots and militias) and is fighting a war in Yemen against Saudi Arabia using its Houthi proxies.

It is vital to remember that the Islamic Republic considers the entire Western world to be its enemy, which must be defeated in order to establish a global Islamic empire. Iran's ideological structure is interwoven with the coming of the "Mahdi," the prophet of the messianic era predicted by Shi'ite doctrine, and an ultimate clash between the forces of good and evil in which victory is certain.

Those who believe that US President Donald Trump's openness to talking with Iran might lead to a peace process ignore the fact that Tehran, whatever Trump's intentions are, ultimately cannot accept one without betraying its core beliefs.

Israel therefore faces a long, multi-front struggle against Iran. And as long as Iran remains undefeated, the Palestinians will continue to believe their policy of non-negotiation and terrorism will accomplish their goal of causing the Jewish state to disappear.

Netanyahu Warns War With Gaza Could Break Out In Next Few Days - By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz -

"He tended them with blameless heart; with skillful hands he led them." Psalms 78:72 (The Israel Bible)

With less than one week until the elections, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that rocket fire from Gaza is making an IDF incursion inevitable, perhaps even before the elections on Tuesday.

During an interview with Kan Reshet Bet Radio on Thursday, Netanyahu warned that war seemed imminent.

"I do not wage war unless it is a last resort and I don't risk the lives of our soldiers and citizens just to get applause," Netanyahu said in the interview. "We will probably have no choice but to set out on a big campaign, a war against the terror forces in Gaza."

"It looks like there will be no other choice but to embark on a wide-scale campaign against the terror forces in Gaza. I don't risk the lives of our soldiers and citizens just to get applause," Netanyahu said. "There probably won't be a choice but to topple the Hamas regime. Hamas doesn't exert its sovereignty in the Strip and doesn't prevent attacks. We have a situation in which a terror group that launches rockets has taken over, and doesn't rein in rogue factions even when it wants to."

His comments came two days after the Prime Minister was rushed offstage during a campaign event in Ashdod due to Red Alert warning sirens. Benny Gantz, a former IDF Chief of Staff and head of the Blue and White opposition party, criticized Netanyahu for leaving the stage during the rocket attack.

"We are not afraid - not of Hamas and not of Hezbollah. We are committed and we are here," Gantz said at an event in the Druze village of Julis in the north. "Today we saw how the big words are replaced with zero action."

It should be noted that the Blue and White party will necessarily ally with the Arab parties if it is tasked with forming a coalition after the election.

Netanyahu also stated that Israel would begin an assault when it best suited their interests.

"There will be an operation but I will not embark on it a moment before we are ready, Netanyahu said. "We are preparing for a 'different war'."

Netanyahu departed for Russia after the interview. After meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Netanyahu spoke to reporters.

"An operation in Gaza could happen at any moment, including four days before the elections," Netanyahu said. "The date of the elections is not a factor."

Netanyahu's visit to Russia is a sign of increasing military coordination between the two countries in Syria. Russia has a powerful military presence in Syria supporting the regime of President Bashar al Assad and Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes against Iranian military targets in the country.

Iran Ready to "Wipe the Zionist Regime off the Map" - by Majid Rafizadeh - https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14837/iran-zionist-regime

Malign behavior in the world today seems largely to be the result of people who have the power to correct what is wrong willfully looking the other way: hypocrisy. Currently, one of the biggest beneficiaries -- along with China, North Korea, Venezuela, Russia, Turkey and Cuba -- is the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Among other lawlessness, Iran, since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, has continued non-stop to threaten the existence of Israel in contravention of Chapter 1 the United Nations Charter -- without any reproof or rebuke from the international community.

Amazingly, Israel has been bullied and criticized by the same international community for merely taking precautionary measures to defend its citizens and territorial integrity, as any country would.

If, for any reason, the Israeli government ever issued a declaration about destroying Iran "in half an hour," as Iran recently said about Israel, we would probably never hear the end of the criticism from all parts of the world. The European Union would likely take even more measures to counter Israel. There would doubtless be an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council to hurl slanders against Israel, followed by countries pledging solidarity and support for Iran.

It was Mojtaba Zolnour, chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, who issued this latest threat.

For some reason, the Islamic Republic is getting a free pass for continually threatening to wipe out Israel off the map. This lopsided justice is either a case of selective amnesia or outrageous double standards by the international community.

In a recent ceremony in the northern city of Urumiyeh, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Maj. Gen. Hossein Salami, again vowed to obliterate Israel.

He boasted that Iran has empowered its Lebanese proxy to such an extent that Hezbollah "alone" can wipe out Israel.

According to Salami, "The Lebanese Hezbollah has now developed such an extent of power through the experience of confrontation against proxy wars that it is now, by itself, able to wipe the Zionist regime off the map in any possible war." He added that "They [the US and its allies] intended to undermine Iran's regional influence, but everyone witnessed how this policy backfired to increase Iran's influence and a united front was formed against the Zionist regime."

Salami also pointed out that Iran has assisted Hezbollah to sharpen its military capabilities fighting in Syria to become strong enough single-handedly to "wipe the Zionist regime off the map".

Revealingly, when the Iranian general was appointed as the IRGC commander by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in April, it appears that one of the main reasons behind his appointment was his deep antagonism towards the state of Israel and the Jewish people.

Before becoming the IRGC commander, Salami was in charge of building up Iran's ballistic missile system capable of "annihilating" Israel.

The IRGC commander has consistently maintained his desire and ambition to destroy Israel. Salami was previously quoted as saying that "Today, more than ever, there is fertile ground - with the grace of God - for the annihilation, the wiping out and the collapse of the Zionist regime."

He also famously boasted that "In Lebanon alone, over 100,000 missiles are ready to be launched," adding:

"If there is a will, if it serves [our] interests, and if the Zionist regime repeats its past mistakes due to its miscalculations, these missiles will pierce through space, and will strike at the heart of the Zionist regime. They will prepare the ground for its great collapse in the new era."

He also has said, "Iran's policies towards the terrorist groups and the Zionist regime will not change, and this regime will be vanished from the global political scene."

As one of the most effective ways to attract public support in the Iranian government is to slander Israel, Iranian politicians across the political spectrum have shown support for the IRGC commander.

Iran, however, does not have monopoly on violence; it needs to be told -- in no uncertain terms -- by the international community that it cannot continue to bully Israel.

The international community, for its part, needs to stop its double standards by taking measures against Iran's vows to annihilate Israel.

Fortunately, since U.S. President Donald J. Trump took office, America's Iran policy has been heading in the right direction. Steadily escalating economic sanctions have inflicted serious damage on Iran's economy. Maximum pressure is the right policy to adopt to bridle this predatory regime.

Prompted by Iran, Palestinian Islamic Jihad plays lead role in Gaza escalation - By Yaakov Lappin -

Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), the second-largest armed terror faction in Gaza, has in recent days taken a lead role in the latest escalation with Israel. PIJ, which is funded and orchestrated by Iran, has an interest in inflaming the security situation and destabilizing the region.

Unlike Hamas, PIJ has no responsibility for Gaza's estimated 2 million people.

PIJ is challenging Hamas, which for the most part is not interested in an escalation or full-out war with Israel at this time, and is instead interested in reaching an arrangement to prevent an economic collapse of the Gaza Strip and avoid the risk of a popular rebellion against its Islamist militant regime.

It is therefore safe to assume that PIJ fired five rockets into southern Israel on Friday night, narrowly missing an Israeli family fleeing into a safe room in Sderot.

In retaliation, the Israel Air Force struck Hamas military targets in northern Gaza as part of Israel's policy of holding Gaza's ruling entity responsible for what occurs in its territory.

It also seems safe to assume that PIJ is the organization behind the armed drone attack on an IDF Humvee vehicle on Saturday, which caused light damage, but no injuries..

The drone dropped an explosive device on the border before flying back into Gaza. In response, the IAF targeted the squad, though apparently did not hit it. Later on Saturday, the IAF hit Hamas military targets, including naval attack bases, and Hamas's "aerial array" (a reference to its drone program) in northern and central Gaza.

The latest escalation comes after some 6,200 Gazan rioters descended on the Israeli-Gazan border fence on Friday afternoon. They hurled explosive devices, grenades and firebombs at security forces. The IDF described that event as "especially violent," adding that security fence sustained damage in several locations. Two Gazan youths were killed in Israeli fire, as the Israel Defense Forces sought to prevent any intrusions that would endanger southern villages and towns.

In the meantime, Israeli-government officials issued warnings about what would happen if the current violence continues. "The next round will be a general [broad conflict] round, and we are trying to prevent it. In this [next] round, the top terrorist leadership will be destroyed," vowed Foreign Minister Israel Katz, as told to Kan Radio. "Hamas and PIJ are bringing their end closer, by linking up to Iran and [Quds Force commander Qassem] Soleimani, and by turning into an Iranian tool." His statement comes as many southern Israeli civilians have expressed despair over the ongoing war of attrition that Gazan terrorists have been subjecting them to for more than 18 months.

PIJ has attempted to cover up the fact that it is doing Iran's bidding in the region and denies placing Gazans at risk on behalf of a foreign, radical power.

Khader Habib, a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official, stated in an interview to the Palestinian news website Donia al-Watan on Aug. 27 that his organization "does not take orders from Iran, but only support and makes decision independently," according a report by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center. Habib was responding to accusations from Israel last month that pointed fingers to his organization for firing rockets from Gaza on Aug. 25, as part PIJ's response to Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets in Syria.

Such denials are hollow, and are designed to alleviate pressure from Gazans and Hamas.

However, some observers in Israel also believe that even if Hamas isn't directly behind the latest attacks, it's not very motivated to stop them either.

A rise in 'controlled violence'

Col. (ret.) Reuven Erlich, director of the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, told JNS on Sunday that although Hamas did not take a decision to escalate things into war, "it is not trying its best" to stop border attacks.

August saw four attempts by armed terror squads-none of them officially affiliated with any organizations-to infiltrate Israel, before being stopped by the IDF. Several members of the squad were killed in firefights and IDF strikes.

As for the ITIC's assessment, it noted that at the present time, Hamas is not overly motivated to carry out effective measures to prevent the attempted penetrations because they are popular among the public. Moreover, Hamas considers them as a tool for exerting pressure for the lull ceasefire agreement.

"We call this controlled violence. It rises and falls. We're seeing a rise now," said Erlich. "Clearly, this is brinkmanship that can lead to a deterioration."

Hamas hasn't stopped contacts with Egypt, which is acting as an intermediary in seeking an arrangement, he explained, "but it is playing a dangerous game and not trying to prevent what others are doing."

"Iran and the PIJ have a different agenda from Hamas-we've seen this in the past. Yet Hamas knows how to confront PIJ when it wants to. After 'Operation Protective Edge' [in 2014], we experienced three years of relative calm. PIJ has a separate agenda, but Hamas has the ability to force its strategy and policy on PIJ," argued Erlich. "The question is: What is its level of motivation?"

Islamic State-Infested Island Cleared by 80,000 Pounds of U.S. Bombs

September 11 2019

An island in Iraq home to Islamic State terrorists was annihilated Tuesday night by almost 80,000 pounds of bombs dropped from combined U.S. and allied warplanes.
Dramatic aerial footage shows multiple explosions as bombs hit Qanus Island followed by huge mushroom clouds billowing into the air over the Tigris River.
U.S. Air Force F-15 Strike Eagle and F-35A Lightning II aircraft flew alongside Iraqi air force aircraft to decimate the target in Saladin province in an operation to destroy a major terror transit hub from Syria and the Jazeera desert into Mosul, Makhmour and Kirkuk in Iraq, CJTF-OIR said on September 10.
Qanus island is near the U.S. forward operating base in Qayyarah.
The F-35A weapons payload is about 8,100 kg (18,000 lbs) while an F-15 can carry 13,380 kg (29,500 lbs).
Last September the first U.S. F-35 fighters were used in combat in a mission against the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Major General Eric T Hill, a commander with Operation Inherent Resolve, the US-led anti-ISIS campaign, said: Were denying Daesh the ability to hide on Qanus Island.
Were setting the conditions for our partner forces to continue bringing stability to the region.
A spokesperson for the coalition added: Coalition Forces used 80,000 pounds of munitions on the island to disrupt Daesh the ability to hide in the thick vegetation.
CTS Forces continue to conduct ground clearance operations to destroy any remaining Fallul Daesh on the island.
