Keep Your Faith in Jesus Christ

Keep Your Faith in Jesus Christ - Nathele Graham - twotug@embarqmail.com

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1. Everybody has faith in something. We have faith that the food we eat will nourish the body, or we have faith that we will reach our destination when we set out on a drive. These are reasonable assumptions, but not always true. Much of the food we eat has been filled with additives, hormones, and preservatives and doesn't nourish us the way God intended. Sometimes when we head to the store or a friend's house things can stop us from reaching our destination. A flat tire or a wreck can change our plans. Still we have faith. What about unseen things? Many people deny God because they cannot see Him. People put faith in many things that are unseen, but we don't doubt their existence. Have you ever blown up a balloon? I've never seen the air that inflates it, but I know for a fact that when I blow into the opening the balloon will get bigger. I'm looking out my window right now and watching the trees sway in the breeze. I can't see the breeze, just the effect of the breeze. The one that really astounds me is the people who get into an airplane and have the faith that something unseen will hold the plane and all the people in it thousands of feet off the ground. Yet, putting faith in the God of all creation is unthinkable. Of all the unseen things that surround us, the most important is faith in God. The effects of His existence are everywhere.

In times of trouble, our faith can be sorely tested. We either turn to God or turn from Him. Satan is waiting for those who despair, and he tries to stop us from having faith that God hasn't forsaken us. If you're a Christian then Satan cannot utterly destroy you, but he certainly can destroy the witness you have. Christians need to live life in such a way that it's a habit to trust God and live to please Him not the world. "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." Hebrews 13:5-6. The word "conversation" means your way of life. Our way of life needs to reflect Jesus. This world is ruled by Satan, but Jesus Christ overcame the world. Instead of living so that you reflect Satan, live so that your life is a reflection of Jesus Christ. No matter what we face in life, Jesus is our strength and we need to keep our faith firmly planted in Him. Our faith may be tested, but if you don't allow the world to confuse you, you will stand firm upon His word.

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Hebrews 11:3. That's the perfect place to begin examining your faith. Do you believe that in the beginning there was nothing and it exploded to become everything? If that's where your faith lies, then you have no faith in God. Genesis tells us that God created everything, and John gives us a bit more information. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3. The Word is Jesus Christ, and that's where you need to place your faith. He was in the beginning and will be with us to the end and throughout eternity. Scripture is filled with examples of men and women who trusted and obeyed God, even when they didn't understand His reasons. We can learn from their examples of faith. We learn that Enoch was 65 years old when he began to walk with God. He walked with Him for 300 years, but he didn't die. "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him." Genesis 5:24. Enoch was raptured prior to God's judgment by the Flood. Enoch's faith was passed to his children and grandchildren. That's a wonderful legacy to pass to the next generation. Because of Enoch's example of faith, Noah believed God when He said He was going to send a flood as a judgment on all creation. God instructed Noah to build an Ark. Because Noah had faith, he obeyed. That Ark carried him and his family safely through the Flood. God's judgments will soon come upon the world, but, like Enoch, Christians will be Raptured prior to God's judgments. Abraham was another man who learned to have faith in God. He was very happy living in the idol-worshiping society which surrounded him. Then, he heard God's voice and his life changed. Because of his faith we have the blessing of the Nation of Israel and the Messiah who was born from that nation. We can also look at Mary's faith. She was a virgin, but by faith she submitted to God and gave birth to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. We need to trust Him more and have faith in His truth. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6. Don't put your faith in fallible man but put your faith in the infallible God of all creation. He is unseen to the non-believer's eye, but Christians see Him everywhere.

Today there's an unseen organism that has virtually brought the entire world to a standstill. It has stopped people from going to work, interacting with other people, attending worship services, going to school, and many more activities that we took for granted a few short weeks ago. The news media can talk of little else than the latest celebrity who has tested positive for coronavirus, or how many have died. Don't forget, it's not news when people survive so that's never reported. This virus is very much like Satan. He is unseen but a very real enemy to all of mankind. Satan thrives on fear and his purpose is to separate people from God and destroy them. If he can compromise your faith, then he has won a battle. God won the war at the cross, but Satan won't admit defeat. Brothers and sisters, we need to keep our faith firmly set in Jesus. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world." 1 Peter 5:8-9. Everyone is beset by troubles, and this coronavirus is affecting Christian and non-Christian alike. The difference is that no matter what is in our future, faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ makes an eternal difference. Christians need have no fear of death. This pandemic didn't take God by surprise. Most people, even those who claim to be Christians, ignore God unless there's a great need. Stop ignoring Him and put your faith in Him. God isn't a "fair weather friend" who is only with you in the good times. He's with you in the good times and the bad.

"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." 1 Peter 5:10. Don't allow fear to rule your life. Be cautious. Wash your hands, cover you sneezes and coughs, eat healthy. Above all, keep your faith in Jesus Christ.

God bless you all,
Nathele Graham

A Reason Not to Fear

A Reason Not to Fear - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org

People are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire. —Job 5:7

These days, people are afraid. You can see the fear on their faces. They’re alarmed and feel as though they don’t have control because the truth is; they don’t.

John 14 tells us of a time when the disciples were afraid. Jesus had dropped a bombshell on them. He said something that turned their world, as they knew it, upside down.

Then He went on to share some words to bring calm to their troubled hearts: “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me” (John 14:1 NLT). He didn’t say, “Mull over your problems.” Rather, He said, “Don’t be troubled.”

Life is filled with trouble. It seems as though once you have one problem resolved, three more take its place. As Job 5:7 says, “People are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire” (NLT). From the moment we come into this life, there are all kinds of troubles.

While there are reasons to be troubled, there is a greater reason not to be: We know Jesus. He said to His disciples, “Trust in God, and trust also in me” (John 14:1 NLT). In other words, “I haven’t brought you this far to abandon you now. I know what I’m doing. Believe.”

There are times in our lives when things happen that we just don’t understand. When I don’t understand something about God, I try to always fall back on what I do understand: I do understand that God loves me. I do understand that He is looking out for me with my best interests in mind. And I do understand that no matter what happens, He will get me through.

A World Turned Upside Down

A World Turned Upside Down

Why are we surprised? Prophecy watchers have been warning people for years that end-time events could be shocking, even before the Rapture. We have let people know that Tribulation events would cast a shadow on the Church Age as God gears up to close the Church Age. We have talked about the “birth pangs” of the last days for decades.

God doesn’t shake the entire globe very often. He did during the time of Noah and at the Tower of Babel. There was a terrible plague in the 1300s and a pandemic in 1918. Two world wars took a stunning toll.

But now an unseen enemy—a virus, no less—has created fear-driven chaos, and some unknown factors are causing people to embrace a worst-case outlook for the world. At this time, we don’t know how this plays out. It certainly has apocalyptic implications.

The world is in a set-up mode for the longing of a man-with-a-plan, sort of a Mr. Fix-It. Perhaps he is waiting in the wings. No doubt Satan has always had such a man in the shadows, as the prince of darkness does not know the date when God plans on bringing society to an end, at least as we know it. He does not know the day ordained for the Rapture of the Church.

Someone may be needed to calm the storm. Presidential proclamations aren’t doing the trick. There is going to be a mess to clean up since the world is in a meltdown, markets are crashing, economies are tanking, people are losing all stability, and lives are being lost.

Still, there is much that is puzzling! The Swine Flu of 2009-2010 affected 61 million Americans yet produced little panic. Neither Barack Obama nor U.S. Governors stopped life as we know it back then. Sporting events went on, schools remained open, as did churches. Disneyland was not affected!

Fast-forward to 2020. Have you read the headlines on Drudge Report? Sure, journalism knows that if it bleeds it leads, but to look at various media, the sky is truly falling. It’s the end-of-the-world as we know it, even though most who get this new disease, Covid-19, will recover.

So, I have to ask if this is the crisis the globalists have waited for -- or have their hand in -- to make the world as one? Two men mess up their plans: Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. Recently celebrities lauded John Lennon's song "Imagine" which visualizes the world united with no religions.

My prophecy colleague, Todd Hampson, writes, “I believe what we are witnessing with COVID-19 is part of the birth pains Jesus talked about in the Olivet Discourse. In fact, I think it is a major birth pain; as is the locust plague that is ravaging Africa and the Mideast; as is the large number of social uprisings in countries around the world; as is the increase in earthquake activity; as were the record-breaking Australian wild fires; as is—you get the picture. Birth pains increase in frequency and intensity, and they only increase until the moment of delivery.”

Todd continues, “This particular birth pain happens to be one that the entire world is feeling. Again, increased intensity. It’s also a birth pain that has shaken all earthly things. Sports, financial markets, distractions, hobbies, concerts, you name it—have all been shut down.

“Those things aren’t bad in themselves, but it’s as if God is removing any distractions for a moment in history to plead with the world again, ‘Look up! Look to me! This world is temporary. Think about eternal things. I love you. I died for you. Please don’t ignore me. Turn to me now while there is time.’”

Hampson writes, “I should also add that this is a pebble in the ocean compared to a yet-future global event that will rock the world to its core. If one rapidly spreading virus can cause this type of global disruption, can you imagine what the Rapture will do when tens of millions are removed from the world in an instant?”

Todd concludes, “That singular event will set all the end-time events of John’s Revelation into motion. There have been condensed periods of major supernatural events in the past—creation, the exodus, and the events surrounding the first coming of Jesus, culminating with the resurrection. Now, after roughly 2,000 years, we await another period of immense supernatural events which will begin with the Rapture.”

What we see playing out before our eyes is a part of the predicted scenario. Remember, everything is falling into place. These things must happen. God is shaking the nations. They have been too consumed with pleasure to pay Him the least bit of attention.

We keep getting feedback that people who would never listen before are now asking questions.

I trust that you are there with answers.

Everything Will Be Shaken

Everything Will Be Shaken - By Howard Green - https://www.raptureready.com/2020/03/23/everything-will-be-shaken-by-howard-green/

In the last fifty years, the world has seen its share of economic, social, and geopolitical unrest. While events like the Vietnam War, the assassination of JFK, and Black Monday had the collective attention of only segments of society, there are primarily two events that have galvanized the attention of the entire planet for an extended duration. One is September 11th, 2001, and the other is the current global onslaught of the Coronavirus (Covid 19). Both of these events and their effects have literally captured the attention of the entire planet. Much of what is occurring on the world stage is a rapid convergence of events that will ultimately culminate in the second coming of Christ. We can’t afford to be lukewarm or apathetic when it comes to eternal matters because everything that can be shaken will be shaken (Hebrews 12:25-28).

The writer of Hebrews is reiterating (Haggai 2:6) and warns that a stronger shaking is coming in the future. Many people that God created continue to spurn his loving gift of salvation through Jesus. Even now, the unrepentant masses are in denial about how global events are pointing toward the soon return of Jesus. As a Bible teacher, I often use end-time Bible prophecy as a primer to witness to people and to turn conversations toward important matters of salvation and eternity. It is no different given the current Covid 19 crisis, as people want to know what, if anything, this situation has to do with the biblical end-time scenario.

Regarding the Coronavirus, these are my thoughts and conjecture, and I’m in no way saying, “Thus saith the Lord” except for what is clearly written in his word. In Luke 21:11, Jesus gives us a series of events that will certainly take place before his return, and one of the signs mentioned is pestilence. Plagues and pestilence have assailed humanity for centuries including the recent SARS and MERS outbreaks. Unlike those recent outbreaks, Covid-19 (2019 Novel Coronavirus) has the collective attention of the entire planet. There is a multiplicity of reasons for this, specifically, its impact on the global economy. The Stock Market and global markets are reeling in recent weeks, and words like recession and depression are now common on Wall Street.

What do these recent events have to do with Bible prophecy and the return of Jesus? Everything, because we are just beginning to see conditions that could easily set in place the events Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24:4, Luke 21:7-11, and Revelation 6:5-8. One thing we should be diametrically opposed to is unbiblical nonsense including the sort of hype that defined Y2K, Bible Codes, and supposedly knowing the day of Christ’s return. But we also want to avoid the equally unbiblical knee-jerk response of completely ignoring end-time Bible prophecy.

A lot of people and, unfortunately, some ‘Bible teachers’ are speculating this is the start of the Tribulation, which it is not. First, in the Bible, the word tribulation means trial or trouble (thlipsis) but the Great Tribulation is mentioned. It is the latter half of the seven-year period Daniel mentions that will end history as we know it. This seven-year period begins with a peace accord with Israel and Antichrist, not with any preacher’s special revelation.

Here’s the thing: Coronavirus may come and go. I don’t know if it is one of the end-time pestilences Jesus warned would come, but I have no reason to believe it isn’t one. We may very well be approaching the birth pains and beginning of sorrows Jesus warned about as these events are increasing in frequency and severity like never before.

One thing is certain; for years, the world, and especially those of us in the West have had a sense of invincibility, self-reliance, and insulation from events that wreak havoc in other parts of the globe. That rose-colored optimism was obliterated in recent months. We’ve witnessed global markets in a nose-dive, governments struggling to cope, events canceled, schools and churches closed, and food scarcity unheard of in the West in recent history. Governments are pumping billions into faltering economies with little effect.

A time is coming and may soon be here when these pestilences and other conditions Jesus warned us about will render the world economy, governments, and infrastructure unrecognizable. A global leader will soon emerge, and he will be able to bring about a one-world government, economy, and religion in the wake of catastrophic geopolitical events. When I read Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Revelation 6, I don’t feel like I’m reading about the distant future, but rather current news headlines.

As a believer, I’m deeply troubled and saddened about the human toll and the effects of Coronavirus. No one should be cheering this on as a catalyst for end-time hype; but amid all of the deprivation and suffering, our hope should be in Christ. Saints of old would greet one another with the word Maranatha. It’s an Aramaic word which means, “Come, O Lord,” or “The Lord is coming.” True disciples are looking for end-time Bible prophecy to be fulfilled because it culminates in Jesus’ return as the Prince of Peace, and he will put an end to human suffering, sin, and death.

So, what do Christians do as we see events leading up to Christ’s return?

Jesus told us what to do in his word. We are to be salt and light in this dark world. In just the past few weeks, we’ve seen the best and worst in humanity. Although there have been pockets of compassion, the sheer lack of human kindness is appalling. 2 Timothy 3:1 comes to mind as we are witnessing what Paul warned would come. As believers, I want to exhort you toward personal holiness, prayer, and time in the word. I also want to encourage you to witness to others. People are desperately looking for peace at a time when peace is hard to find. We have the gospel of peace. We can keep a safe distance while praying with people, distributing Bibles, and telling others about coming judgment, repentance, and what it means to be wretched before a holy God. Explain to them what it means to be born-again and to come to saving faith in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8).

This is no time for apathy, business as usual, or ignorance and arrogance toward Bible prophecy because everything that can be shaken, will be shaken. It’s a dereliction of duty for anyone in Christian leadership to neglect the teaching of end-time Bible prophecy. If you fail to protect and warn your flock, you are a hireling, not a shepherd.

Dear Christian, the Coronavirus didn’t catch God by surprise. He isn’t in heaven pacing the floor wondering what to do. He is in control, and his concern is saving sinners. You can be a bold witness for Jesus at a time like this. Although we can’t meet for church, we are still the church, the Body of Christ. I want you to understand that it’s a loving thing to warn people. I’m giving you a loving warning and exhortation based on biblical authority that things won’t always continue as they have been (2 Peter 3:4). In a day when many professing Christians are sinking into apostasy, I want to encourage you to keep oil in your lamp and contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. This is certainly the time to love as Jesus loves, as people are in desperate need of salvation. Go into all the world and preach the gospel. Maranatha! (Revelation 21:4)

A personal note of encouragement:

Many people are worried and anxious about the coronavirus and all the uncertainty that it brings. Jesus said he would give us his peace. Dear Christian friend, I want to invite you to contact us, and we will certainly stand in prayer with you. *We have believers from all over the world visiting our site, so please comment below this same article on our site at www.concerningthetimes.com ; that way other Christians can encourage and pray for you as well. If you want to know about Jesus and what he says about eternal life, please contact us.

All for Him,

Our Defense against Worry

Our Defense against Worry - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:7

We live in such a stress-filled society today. We could write these words on the tombstones of many Americans: Hurried, worried, buried. We’re constantly in motion, going from one thing to another, from one worry to another. We can get so stressed out that we’re almost immobilized. Sometimes worry can absolutely paralyze a person’s life.

But as my friend Max Lucado has said, “Your anxiety decreases as your understanding of your Father increases.” That is really the heart of the matter.

On July 24, 2008, my wife and I heard the news that no parent ever wants to hear. We found out that our son had suddenly left us for Heaven. Anxiety, panic, worry, and fear all crashed in at the same time. And as I bent beneath the weight of it, I honestly wondered if I could survive such a thing. As a pastor, I had spoken with people over the years who had lost children, but when it happened to me, I honestly wondered if I could handle it.

But God was there for me. And one of the reasons I have continued to preach since that day is because of that, because God was there. If the Lord had not come through for me on that day, I would have given up preaching. But He did come through for me.

I’m not saying it has been easy. We still miss our son, of course, and we still feel deep pain. But we have found the truth of Philippians 4:6–7: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (NKJV).

Apply this truth, and turn your worries into prayers.

The End Is Not Yet

Let me say at the outset of this commentary that I in no way intend to diminish the dangers presented by this disease. It is a pandemic to be sure, because it is worldwide. The potential is there for massive health devastation and death.

However, the coronavirus has by no means reached anywhere close to historic levels of past deadly pandemics-or even regional epidemics. Not even close. Yet the projections are presenting to the world's public an end-of-the-world prognosis, to keep it within medical jargon.

Even those who operate issues and events from Christian and even prophetic perspectives are painting a picture that the world is now almost certainly already in an era not unlike that described as the biblical apocalypse.

Aside from the fears about the millions who might die from coronavirus are the just-as-feared economic ramifications of the now officially declared pandemic.

Here are excerpts of some of the dystopian predictions I garnered from just one website to make the point.

The financial system is cratering. Banks will begin to fold soon. Many deposits will be wiped out.

Pensions are being wiped out right now, exactly along the lines we've been warning about for years. If you had exposure to the bubble stock market, real estate will begin to crater soon. Expect a 40% plunge on average, nationwide. Unemployment will skyrocket to Great Depression levels in less than 90 days. [Currency manipulation] insanity being pushed by the Trump administration will result in rapid price inflation across America, putting us on the path toward a Venezuela-type scenario, and more money printing goes to insane levels to bail out everybody and everything in the economy. Dumpster diving for food, the national sport of the failed state of Venezuela, will soon be commonplace in many US cities.

The food supply is cratering in many regions, with food distribution hubs gutted and many local retailers cleaned out. City dwellers are "hunting" for grocery stores in rural areas that have more food. We anticipate gun battles over food to commence soon.

Speaking of guns, every round of ammunition and every firearm in America is just about gone as of today. Retailers still have some supplies, but wholesalers are wiped out everywhere. More and more experts and even CDC officials are now openly talking about "millions of deaths" in the USA over the next 18 months. (Mike Adams, "URGENT Alert: Financial System Collapsing, Food Supply Collapsing, Hyperinflation Coming, Guns and Ammo Wiped Out, Military Martial Law Plans Leaked," Natural News, March 19, 2020)

I found other websites forecasting even greater troubles. "America will end as we know it because of the coronavirus crisis" is the conclusion of a number of sites I've perused.

Of course, I'll agree that America as we've known it has changed to the point that our founding fathers probably wouldn't recognize it-at least, not as they envisioned the constitutional republic they created. It is certain most wouldn't believe how it has turned out in terms of cultural and societal morality. And things like the fiscal irresponsibility of running monetary printing presses, as has been done for decades, with nothing to back the dollar-which itself seems to grow stronger rather than weaker vis-a vis all other currencies-would no doubt flabbergast them.

As we've looked at many times in these commentaries, there seems no rational explanation for why the American and global economies haven't collapsed.

Economists, mostly in the lesser-known blog forums, have pointed to the fact that there will come a tremendous crash at some point. The more renowned financial talking heads of broadcast and cable networks haven't really examined underlying fiscal structures. They have concentrated on amazement over the ever-rising stock market figures.

Now, it is declared by many that the time of reckoning has come. The coronavirus crisis means the end of all things in terms of economic well-being. Economic/monetary matters have defied the fiscal laws of gravity-as we've pointed out-the way Wile E. Coyote defies gravity in the cartoon world. Now we have entered a time that will, many believe, lead to times worse than conditions created by the stock-market crash of 1929.

To those who observe what's going on through the prism of Bible prophecy, particularly the pre-Trib view of Bible prophecy, things are in tremendous flux. That is, tremendous change is taking place that portends the soon-coming time of the Antichrist regime. This is what must come to pass so that Jesus Christ can return to put an end to human government, which has so egregiously failed at every turn.

However, it is not the end...not yet.

As my good friend Jan Markell says about world conditions in regard to Bible prophecy: "Things aren't falling apart. They are falling together." That is, we are privileged as Christians alive at this time to watch the end-times stage being set for all things to unfold exactly like God, through His Holy Word, says they will.

The devil and his minions, both human and supernatural, have tried to accomplish a coup d'état in this nation for the past four years. They have failed at every turn. Now they are, through the crisis at present, determined to change America through the many rushed fixes we are seeing. They hope to attach their tentacles through lockdowns and forced economic/business changes-i.e., ways of doing business-for accomplishing their globalist ambitions. Even with the immense propaganda power of the mainstream media, they have been unable to carry out their attempted coup d'état. This is because, I believe with all that is within my spiritual understanding, the Lord of Heaven has prevented their one-world plans to this point.

This is due to the fact that it is not yet time for the Antichrist world order to emerge. This can't happen as long as the Church, Jesus Christ's Bride, is still on this fallen planet.

That's why the present president has been placed in the most powerful office of the most powerful government on earth. If anyone else held the office at this crucial time, I believe the economy of the United States, and certainly economies of the rest of the world, would have by this time indeed come crashing down. This would especially have been true by now, figuring this pandemic into the economic equation.

This is not to give Mr. Trump undue credit. He is simply living proof of the truth found in God's Word. The Lord of Heaven raises up rulers and kings, and He brings them down (Daniel 2: 21). That this man is chosen by God to be in the position to which he was elected in such astonishing fashion is a primary reason I believe that the economy that is currently in freefall will again reach previous heights.

Jesus prophesied that when He next intervenes into the affairs of mankind, it will not be at a time of Tribulation-like desperation. It will, he said, be a time of building, buying, selling, marrying, planting. It will be, I believe He indicated, a time of business even more dynamic than usual-just like on the day when Lot was suddenly removed from Sodom, which was judged that very day.

The changes we are seeing at this time are profound. Indeed, America is being reconfigured in a way that will pave the way for what will take place following the Rapture of Christ's Bride-all born-again believers.

But this isn't the end. It is however, to somewhat distort the paraphrasing of Churchill regarding the end of the Battle for Britain during WW II, perhaps the end of the beginning of the end.

Jesus said while sitting atop the Mount of Olives just before He died on the cross at Calvary and resurrected for the sin of mankind: "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet" (Matthew 24:6).

He also said: "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh" (Luke 21:28).

Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

A Time Of Testing For The Church

A Time Of Testing For The Church - By Tony Perkins/Family Research Council - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=3921

When the coronavirus hit Alabama, there was one thing Pastor Chris Hodges's church had that a lot of doctors' offices didn't: a big parking lot.

For the last few days, that asphalt has been a saving grace to the people of Birmingham. By the thousands, they've come to Church of the Highlands -- which has just transformed into one of the largest testing sites in the city. And Church of the Highlands couldn't be happier.

"It was something else," Associate Pastor Dino Rizzo told me, shaking his head. "You remember some of the lines we experienced during Katrina," he asked? I do, vividly. When Pastor Rizzo was based in Baton Rouge, we were part of a massive relief effort that passed out food, gas, and ice.

This week, he said on "Washington Watch," was just like that. Only instead of handing out supplies, they were handling tests. All because their church was willing to share its space and wi-fi.

The city's health officials were able to test 400 people on Tuesday alone. But the benefit of this happening at his church, Dino told me, is that people are getting a whole lot more than their physical needs met.

"One of the cool things we did was we were able to put up a radio signal that people could tune in while they're sitting in line... They could tune in and listen to the instructions for what the testing was going to be like. And then also instructions about things that we're offering at the church for their family and then to pray with them."

The church set up a number that people could text if they needed prayer. "I want to say of the 400... we had 325 text for prayer. People are hungry. People are open. People are ready to get prayed for. They need the gospel."

It's time, Dino urged, "for the church to be the church. I think the combination of meeting the need and helping people with their fear.

The partnership with the medical community and being the church -- like you said, our core mission -- giving people Jesus. And there are a lot of ways churches are doing it. So I'm proud of the body of Christ. You and I saw it at Katrina. We saw some of the best of the church. And I think we're going to see it again."

Of course, it all starts with looking outward instead of inward. When these disasters happen, there's a tendency to hunker down and compare what we have or don't have, as opposed and what we can give and what we can do for others.

Dino says he's been in conversations with a lot of local pastors, urging them to think creatively. Sure, there are the traditional things that come with being in the pulpit -- sermons and Sunday services. But, he argues, "Most of us didn't get in ministry just for that -- or didn't come to Christ just for that.

It's in how we care for people. It's in how we pray. It's how we check on people. It's how we notice the needs of others. You know, it's not in the big things. It's in the small things. And I think just starting with what you have. Just start somewhere."

We're not talking about major undertakings here. As Dino said, just check on your neighbor or call an elderly person on the phone. "Partner with the school. Connect with someone who's vulnerable. Look for the small and simple ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus." There are plenty.

Your prophetic destiny in a time such as this

Your prophetic destiny in a time such as this - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Friday, Chris and I went on a grocery run. We pulled up to the Common Market to a line of about a dozen people waiting outside. The clerk explained that there were too many people inside and that he was limiting who could go in and go out. Chris and I decided to move on to another store. But I told those in line, "Not to worry. We are in it together. We can do this. We can get through it." Many in the line responded with "Yes," "That's right," "Yes we can," and other agreements. The one lady in the back of the line, just rolled her eyes at us and half-smiled. Yes, these are dark days. And there will be more dark days ahead, but be encouraged. Recall who you are. Set your sights on your purpose for these times.

1 Peter 2:9 says, "You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." You are a chosen generation. Yes, you. No other generation has been through exactly what we are going through right now. You have been chosen to go through this. So many people have asked me why God is allowing this to happen. I sense that we often do no know the "why," but we do know the "what." In this case, and in any crisis, the "what" is our response; how we show our faith with action. You are the generation that has been chosen for a time such as this.

You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation. Yes, you and I are a priesthood, a holy nation. We are citizens of whatever country in which we were born. But as a Christ follower, we are also a priesthood of the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. We are the ambassadors of the Most High. And we are not alone. There are many of us. In fact, an entire holy nation. We can make a difference by the prayers we pray, the example we set, and the deeds we do. Remember, we are not given a spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. It's not just your pastor, or priest, or bishop or elder who is placed in this position of authority. You are. What is your good service in this high position? How is your representation?

You are to show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. The world is in darkness right now. People are looking for answers. They are looking for hope. As Christ said in the Sermon on the Mount, you are the light of the world, the salt of the earth. Be encouraged in Christ, that you may encourage others. Do not fear, that you might inspire courage in others. Walk in love, that you might hearten the loveless. Be of a sound mind that you say and do the wiser thing so as to not bring dishonor to your Lord and Savior. You have a prophetic destiny in a time such as this. It is your time to shine the light of Christ into a dark and dying world. Do so circumspectly and with joy!

Jesus Passion, Crucifixion and Resurrection: Revisited

What if everything we think we know about the passion, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is wrong?
That’s the jaw-dropping possibility that comes from reading the work of some of the world’s most pre-eminent Bible and archaeology scholars.
Of course, there’s always been fierce debate between scholars and theologians about every aspect of Jesus’ life and death. But sometimes even the most well-known sides of a debate demand new scrutiny.
For instance, which is really the tomb of Jesus: the tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre or the Garden Tomb? The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is hallowed by tradition that goes back at least to the fourth century, when the emperor Constantine built the first church there.
But in the 19th century, western Protestants regarded the Catholic Holy Sepulchre Church—in a densely built-up area of the Old City—as unsuitably located, and gave their loyalty to a two-chambered burial cave outside the city wall known as the Garden Tomb.
At last, archaeology and science can weigh in. According to archaeologist Gabriel Barkay, the Garden Tomb is dated to the eighth–seventh centuries B.C.E. and was not in use during Jesus’ time.
And while that may be a disappointment to anyone who has visited the Garden Tomb on a pilgrimage, it’s rewarding to serious students of Biblical history to learn the undisputed truth.
The image of a stone being rolled away from Jesus’ tomb to reveal an empty chamber is as ubiquitous in Christian faith. Yet it’s almost certainly the result of a misinterpretation of the Gospels!
As it turns out, only a handful of tombs from the time of Jesus have been found with round stones. Instead, we now know from archaeological study that Jews of that period were using square stones to seal family tombs cut into the rocky hillsides around Jerusalem.
And the fact that the word “rolled” is a translation of the Greek word kulio, which can also mean “dislodge,” “move back” or simply “move,” makes it almost certain that the rolled stone is a literary error.
But almost frustratingly, it’s also true that the more we know about the history and language of Biblical times, the less we really know.
For instance, a painstakingly detailed linguistic and literary analysis of the many possible endings for the Gospel of Mark reveals … that there are more questions raised than one started with.

Let Us Examine Ourselves

 Let Us Examine Ourselves

With the Feast of Unleavened Bread less than two weeks away, many of us are well into our de-leavening. Some may even be finished and feel a sense of relief that the job is done. Some of us go to great lengths to make sure every nook and cranny in our homes are swept clean and turned upside down, and we remove every little hint of leavening. When the job is over, we can exhale and enjoy the fact that we found that lost piece of biscuit, donut, or cookie, perhaps wondering, "How did that get there?" If you have grandkids, chances are you have your answer. After our grandkids have been in the house, we find things in the strangest places—and some things may never be seen again!
We spend quite a bit of time and effort trying to find and eradicate all the leavening from our homes, cars, and offices, and rightly so, as God commands us to do it. He instructs us to perform certain physical exercises for our learning to understand better how He wants us to worship Him in a worthy manner. As with many of the Bible's rituals, the spiritual lessons are of far greater importance. We do ourselves a disservice when we just go through the motions.
One of these rituals is Passover, which we observe just before the days of Unleavened Bread. In I Corinthians 11:27-30, Paul instructs the Corinthians about how they were to partake of the Passover, explaining that the instructions came directly from Christ Himself. He tells us to eat the bread and drink of the cup in a manner worthy of Him, or we will be guilty of profaning and sinning against the blood and the body of Christ. "For this reason," Paul writes in verse 30, "many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep." J.B. Phillips' The New Testament in Modern English, a paraphrase, renders the last word as "spiritually dead." In other words, those who partake unworthily of the bread and wine put themselves in great spiritual danger.
In verse 28, he continues, "But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup." Only after we have examined ourselves should we partake of the Passover symbols. Those of us in God's church have formed the habit of performing this self-examination every year around this time, and so we should, as we attempt to rededicate our lives to God and become more like Christ. It should not be a glance in a mirror, and off we go, forgetting what we even looked like (James 1:24). Thoroughly examining ourselves should become a way of life.
The Greek word for "examine," dokimazo, means "to test," "to discern," or "to prove," which is much more involved than a glimpse in a mirror. It implies scrutiny, investigation, inquiry, searching, and correcting. In I Corinthians 11:31-32, Paul explains: "For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world." He is saying that, if we do things the right way, God's way, there will be nothing to judge! He advises that we put ourselves on trial, interrogate, and judge ourselves. God would rather not judge us or send some trial to get our attention, but He will, if necessary, because He loves us.
God is looking for humble people who govern themselves by His Word with outgoing concern and respect for others. Such people, who judge themselves, do not have to be governed. This is what Paul means when he says we are not under the law (Galatians 5:18). There is no judgment when we keep the law. A cop will never write you a ticket for driving the speed limit!
In II Corinthians 13:5-6, Paul returns to the message of self-examination:
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified.
He exhorts them to prove themselves, test their faith, and examine their fruit. If Christ truly dwelt in them, they should be able to detect the image of God in their behavior. If not, then they were counterfeits or reprobates, people who are anti-God, and such people God will judge.
Self-examination is a necessary, commanded duty requiring diligence and brutal honesty. If God commands us to do this, He will give us the ability to put ourselves on trial, see ourselves as we indeed are, and make the proper judgments. Because of human nature, this task is often difficult. It is natural for a human to think well of himself, as an old saying teaches: "Every man is his own flatterer and so conceals himself from himself." Our carnality will lie to us, deceiving us into thinking we are something we are not. Lying to ourselves still breaks the ninth commandment.
Stephen Charnock, an English Puritan clergyman who lived in the seventeenth century, penned a discourse on self-examination, writing in it:
Natural conscience is often silenced by a pretense and a show, and a man is naturally apt to make his own corrupt judgement, sometimes also his passion, the standard of good and evil, and not only to frame grace according to his own affections, but a god.
In other words, his passion, right or wrong, becomes the standard, and he makes it his god. In effect, he worships himself!
Several men in the Bible had similar experiences in this regard. David's passion drew him away from God. He became blinded by it and could not see himself. Even after Nathan told him the vivid story about the poor man with one lamb, which a more powerful man took to prepare a feast (II Samuel 12:1-4)—the story even made David furious—he still could not see his fault! Then Nathan said, "You are the man!" (verse 7), and David was crushed. He had lost sight of God and sinned against Him. David repented, but God's judgment on him was very painful.
While Job did not sin in all that he endured, he somehow thought he could interact with God as an equal! He could not see the vast difference between the awesome, powerful, eternal God and puny, weak, transitory man—him. When God questioned Job, the man was, like David, crushed that he had been so blind to the obvious greatness of God and His authority over His creation (Job 42:1-6).
Peter provides another example. In the scene in Luke 5:1-8, the disciples had been fishing all night and caught nothing, and Jesus approaches them as they are cleaning their nets. After boarding one of the boats and leaving the shore, Jesus tells Peter to throw the nets out for a catch. Peter had probably grumbled the whole time, saying something like, "Look, Lord, I'm the fisherman here, and there are just no fish! We have been fishing all night, and we've caught zilch, nada, nothing! But just because You say so, I'll throw in the nets!" After so many fish came into the net that it was breaking, Peter sees himself for what he was in contrast to his Creator and says, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"
All three of these men had their eyes opened so that they could see themselves in relation to God. Their lives from that point on were changed forever. So, let us examine ourselves, humble ourselves, and judge ourselves so that we will worthily partake of the Passover and not fall under judgment.

Cracking the Faith Barrier

Cracking the Faith Barrier - By Hal Lindsey -

In John 16:33, Jesus said, "In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

We're having some of that tribulation now. People are afraid and not just of disease. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Stocks are falling faster than they did during the financial crisis, the crash of 1987 or the Great Depression."

Many are watching their lifetime's savings evaporate before their eyes. It's easy to be upset. But we shouldn't be surprised. The Bible is full of warnings about the dangers coming on the world in the last days. But that same Bible is also full of promises God has made to His people - promises we can stand on.

As a new Christian, I suffered from times of depression. I prayed that the LORD would show me what was wrong. I asked him to teach me how to do His will and live out His plan in my life. Not long after this prayer, a friend of mine took me to a Bible study taught by Pastor Bob Thieme in Houston. I liked him immediately and wanted to hear more. He began a series entitled "Cracking the Faith Barrier." God used this teaching to deliver me from depression, insecurity, and fear. Today, we all need it.

On October 14, 1947, a Bell X-1 aircraft piloted by Captain Charles 'Chuck' Yeager became the first human vehicle to go faster than the speed of sound in controlled flight. To get there, Yeager had to pass through something called "the sound barrier." A lot of people thought it was impossible. As pilots approached that speed, tremendous turbulence built up against the airplane. The air couldn't get out of the way fast enough. It piled up in front of the leading edges of the aircraft. The buffeting was extreme.

In those days, they didn't know how to design the aircraft for supersonic flight. The buffeting caused changes in airflow over the vehicle's control surfaces, making it almost impossible to fly. Sometimes controls froze and became inoperable. Brave men died in the conquest to break "the sound barrier."

During his flight, as Yeager approached the speed of sound, the plane began to shake violently, as if it might disintegrate at any second. The control stick shook so much that Chuck could hardly hold it still. Just as it seemed the aircraft would rip apart, there was a loud boom, and everything became quiet inside the cockpit.

When Yeager broke through the sound barrier, the buffeting stopped. The controls responded again. He and his X-1 left behind the screaming noise and violent air as he bolted toward the dark blue of the edge of the earth's atmosphere. There were still great pressures on the outside of the little craft, but the turbulent air had shifted from the leading edge to the rear.

And so it is when a Christian breaks the faith barrier. The pressures shift rearward. We move past the old ideas of depending on human resources and emotions. We switch over to faith in God's promises alone.

It takes a great deal of speed to crack the sound barrier. But to crack the faith barrier we must stand still. The hard part is that it's easy, and we can't accept that something so great came come as a gift. It defies our old way of thinking and doing. All our lives we have sought to cope with problems using our own limited strength and understanding.

To get past that is to crack the faith barrier. And when we do, we find rest and peace. The pressures and problems still exist, but God's peace and assurance well up within our hearts.

And that's when the Holy Spirit begins to do amazing things in and through us. When we rest in the Lord our efforts cease to be the primary thing, and we turn fully to the Holy Spirit. Amazing things happened in my life when I passed through to the other side of the faith barrier. They will for you, too.

Romans 8:37 says, "In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." "All these things" might include viruses and pandemics. They might include financial difficulty. In all these things, God urges you to crack the faith barrier. Become more than a conqueror.

Judgment from God, A Consuming Fire

Judgment from God, A Consuming Fire - By Pastor Mike Taylor - https://pastormiketaylor.blogspot.com/2020/03/judgment-from-god-consuming-fire.html

25 "See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29 For our God is a consuming fire." (Hebrews 12:25-29)

Have you ever heard someone say to you in light of a terrible tragedy, "Why would God allow such evil to exist in the world?" Many who turn away from God and disavow Him, as they cannot understand how there can be evil in the world, and a Holy God that co-exists or allows such evil. Many disbelieve in God, as they cannot understand how this can be, so they theorize "There is no God." I spoke with a fellow during an online conversation that believes there is no God, as there is so much pain and suffering in the world. Why is this man an atheist? They try to get their mind around a word that identifies this problem for them, and the word is "Theodicy". What is theodicy? According to the dictionary the meaning is thus:

Theodicy from Greek theos - "god" + dike - "justice") is a theological and philosophical study which attempts to prove possible God's intrinsic or foundational nature of omnibenevolence (all-loving), omniscience (all-knowing), and omnipotence (all-powerful). The fundamental dilemma of theodicy is the problem of evil: its continuing existence and God's apparent inability or unwillingness to eradicate it. (Wikipedia)

They do not understand when they say, "why does God allow, if there be a God, evil in this world?" and another "why does God not make men that do not sin, if He's so powerful?". Do they not understand that He has made such a creature. They are called cows and horses. Do you want to be a cow or a horse? Of course not, we are men, and God gave us one thing that we are endowed by our Creator, LIBERTY also called "free will choice".

13" For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." (Galatians 5:13)

You will find this concept in an unlikely place which defines what we enjoy and adhere to. It is found in the pledge of allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America:
and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, Under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all" The two are intertwined and cannot be separated.

IN THE BEGINNING

In the beginning, God made man with free will. He was made with a free moral character to choose either to following God, the Creator, or the god of this world. In a nutshell, he was free to choose between good or evil. But on the heels of what men chooses in liberty, there is enacted righteous justice. Men believe erroneously of a god of their imagination, not the clearly defined God of the Bible. They do not understand the distinction of a God of judgment, a God of justice, nor a God of consuming fire that is a direct result of that liberty.

Liberty to do Evil

Let us go back and examine several examples of people who by their own free will did evil and reaped judgment for their actions. I will try and show the error of their ways and how it applies to us, even today.

In the time of Moses and before, the Hebrew people became a great nation. Fear fell upon the heart of Pharaoh and the leaders of Egypt to deal with a growing problem. They were fearful that the Hebrew nation would become so large that Egypt would be overrun by them and eventually the Egyptians could be defeated in battle by their alignment with an invading army. You'll find this story in Exodus chapter 1, but let's look at a few defining verses:15 "And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live." (Exodus 1:15-16)

But the midwives feared God and did not do as the Pharaoh had ruled, but saved them alive.

18 "And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.
20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive." (Exodus 1:18-22)

What the Egyptians did was to cast every male child that was born, or some believe that it included any of an age under two, to be cast into the Nile for the crocodiles. Why was this allowed to happen? Our God is a God of imparting liberty. If man is not allowed to do evil in the name of liberty, then he is not free at all, but judgment was coming and it started with the first plague given to Moses against the Egyptians.

THE NILE MADE AS BLOOD

20 "So Moses and Aaron did even as the LORD had commanded. And he lifted up the staff and struck the water that flowed in the Nile, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, and all the water that flowed in the Nile turned to blood.
21 The fish that lived in the Nile died, and the Nile became foul, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. And the blood flowed through all the land of Egypt."(Exodus 7:20-21)

This was the beginning of judgment upon a people who had killed innocent babies who were thrown to the crocodiles and God gave them blood to drink, and it was a sign of judgment upon this evil. God gave the Egyptians ample time to repent of their sins and turn from their ways, but Pharaoh's heart was hardened, as justice was being done, and judgment had already been decided against Egypt for their evil in God's eyes. During the final plague against Egypt, a messenger from God, a death angel, came into the streets of Egypt and killed all first born male children that were not protected by the blood of a lamb upon the post and lintels of their doors, a sign of the coming Messiah.

4 "Moses said, "Thus says the LORD, 'About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt,
5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who works behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well.
6 'Moreover, there shall come forth a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as no one has ever heard before and such as shall never shall come again."(Exodus 11:4-6)

Then in Chapter 12 of Exodus, Almighty God enacted judgment when the death angel came, as God told Moses, but the children of Israel were saved, because of the blood, a sign of salvation:

12 'For I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments-- I Proclaim myself the LORD.
13 'The blood shall serve as a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt." (the blood was a foreshadow of the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, although at the time they did not understand this, nor do they still).(Exodus 12:12-13)

You ask, why didn't God just whisk these Hebrew people out of the land of Egypt, instead of killing all the Egyptian first born? The answer is justice. Judgment had been passed on Egypt for the crimes against their fellow man and the murders of the innocent.

Because of their free will, God allowed them to have liberty, to do good, or to do evil, but in His righteous judgment, He enacted justice.

JUDGMENT AGAINST ISRAEL

This is a story that I cannot fathom, but it happened. After all the acts of God and His righteousness, the people of Israel became ensnared with the evil of this world, and by having liberty, did evil in the sight of a Holy God. But judgment came, as Jeremiah prophecies to them, and it came to pass. You may find this sad state of affairs in Jeremiah chapter 19. Jeremiah had been instructed by God in a two way conversation to bring the elders and the priest down to the Valley of Ben-hinnom. This was a place of 24 hour fires burning refuse, and dead bodies. It was like their city dump. There Jeremiah prophesied what God was about do to them for their evil:

4 "Because they have forsaken Me and have made this an alien place and have burned sacrifices in it to other gods, that neither they nor their forefathers nor the kings of Judah had ever known, and because they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent (babies and children).
5 and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, a thing which I never commanded or spoke of, nor did it ever enter My mind;
6 therefore, behold, days will come," declares the LORD, "when this place will no longer have the name Topheth or the valley of Ben-hinnom, but rather the valley of Slaughter.
7 "I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life; and I will give over their carcasses as food for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth.
8 "I will also make this city a desolation and an object of hissing; everyone who passes by it will feel astonished and hiss because of all its disasters.
9 "I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh in the siege and in the distress with which their enemies and those who seek their life will distress them."'
10 "Then you will break the jar in the sight of the men who accompany you
11 and say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Just so will I break this people and this city, even as one breaks a potter's vessel, which no one cannot again repair; and they will bury in Topheth because they can find no other place for burial.
12 " I will treat this place and its inhabitants like this," declares the LORD, "so as to make this city like Topheth.
13 "The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will become defiled like the place Topheth, because of all the houses on whose rooftops they burned sacrifices to all the heavenly host and poured out drink offerings to other gods." (Jeremiah 19:4-13)

I spoke of this in past sermons that Israel erected pagan idols and Asheroth poles, even in the very Temple of God and had taken on the practices of Baal worshipers around them by killing their sons and daughters on pagan altars and deluded themselves that this was an acceptable way of giving Jehovah praise and worship. God had given them liberty to do this evil, but being a God of long-suffering and allowing men free will, there came a time when judgment and justice was enacted on this evil among a nation that was designed to be an example to all other nations around them, or a nation of priest, a holy nation. How far did they fall from their glorious intent of Almighty God? They fell to the pit and their eventual destruction as a nation.

FLASH FORWARD TO MODERN TIMES

In our history of "modern" times, we have experienced men who have killed other men in war and desire for conquest. I think on WWII, and Hitler's delusional desire to cleanse the earth of inferior races of men and produce an Aryan race of super men. This was dealt with by the allied nations to the total destruction of Germany and the Third Reich. Why? Because of justice. Because of six million Jewish people, not to mention millions of what was deemed inferior examples of the human race, slaughtered by an evil tyrant. God allowed this maniac to exist and to cause untold suffering, but in the end, that liberty to do evil, was met with righteous judgment, and Hitler and his armies were destroyed utterly. BUT.....

There is coming a day, that may not be too far off, where evil men will do even more evil to good people. There has been, recent history, of many instances of atrocities, more than what was mentioned above, coming against good people by evil men who were given the liberty to do this evil. The coming period I speak of is known as the Tribulation, which flows into the Great Tribulation. Each combined to be a total of 7 years. In Revelation we see a picture of evil that has slain many Christians from time innumerable.

9 "When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had become slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;
10   and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, " How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"
11   And each of them received a white robe; and they learned that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who would suffer martyrdom even as they had been, would come to completion also."(Revelation 6:9-11)

There have been good men and women down through the ages, (I recall the Spanish Inquisition and the Dark Ages of Catholic dominance and religious cleansing of all who would not bow before the Pope in Rome), that have died because of their faith and judgment has been withheld for their crimes. John speaks of a time when more people will be killed for the profession of the Name of Jesus Christ. As the verses and chapters progress, seal after seal is broken. Trumpet after trumpet is blown, and bowl judgment upon bowl judgment is poured out on this earth in preparation for the coming Kingdom of God.

One thing I wish you to ponder, does the blood of people slain only apply to Christians who were slain? Is not the destruction of many innocents, as was done in the preceding examples describe what is going on right now in our own land of the free? There is a wholesale destruction of whole class of people, the unborn. Is the USA ripe for judgment and divine justice? I believe we are on the cusp if right now.

You read about the increased earthquakes, volcanic eruptions all over the planet. You read about pestilence that has invaded our world. In the news we are told of locust swarms that are ravaging everything green on the earth, from Africa, through the Middle East into Pakistan and China. We saw the Ebola virus come to Africa and even make a visit to the USA, but that has subsided for now...Now we are dealing with a so-called "Pandemic" of the Coronavirus and the world is in great fear. People are dying overseas, like in Italy, where I read 700 people die in a 24 hour period...Even the Pope may have been infected. The stock market loosing over 8000 points and trillions of dollars in what WAS an explosion in our economy. We see what looks like Martial Law coming to several states using the military to quarantine whole groups of people. Many Millennials have expressed a desire for a Socialist/Communist government, and now in California, New York State, and Washington State, they are getting a first hand view of what the loss of our freedoms look like...

You read about the plight of whole groups of people who die in martyrdom in other lands around the globe, but are we not doing the exact same thing that Jeremiah prophesied to the land of Israel, or Moses to the land of Egypt? Have we not spilled the blood of the innocent who had no right to choose? It's enough to make a person rise up to take vengeance. I understand the emotions of people who wish to stamp out abortion clinics with blowing it up, but is it our place to enact vengeance. My bible says it is not. Romans 12:19 (ASV):

"Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath `of God': for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord."

Is God beginning the birth pains associated with the coming Tribulation right before our eyes? Is our God unleashing judgment on this world in a run-up to the most terrible time in all of human history?

And the wrath of God is what is coming as spoken of in Romans:

18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness
;19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" (Romans 1:18-20)

Again, a warning in Revelation when the Tribulation actually starts and men know who is judging them :
15 "And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" (Revelation 6:15-17)

Never underestimate the coming judgment. It is blossoming in all its unspeakable horror all around us, and it will only get worse as the earth is being shaken, and pestilence and diseases likened to the time of Moses kill more and more people. We saw the terror of Christians in the middle east, who were be-headed by Muslim fanatics, or women stoned for their insane description of belief in their Koran to do so. Men killing other men, and we wonder if the Tribulation is here already.

Is it? No, but this is just a warm up of what is coming, as it will be world wide, not just a local atrocity in the Middle East, but coming to every continent on this earth. But that is at the hands of men. This coming time period we call Tribulation, is not to be compared with the evil committed by men. No, this coming time period is justice and righteous indignation of the wrath of God that will make everything else concerning the death of men, pale in comparison.

There is coming a period of time, which may not be long into the future, when this world will be plunged into the most horrifying time in all of our history on this earth. Where men will give allegiance to one man called the Anti-Christ, because he gives them what they want, to live in their sinfulness and unrighteous behavior. All is asked of them is they take a "mark" in their forehead or in their right hand, which they take with full knowledge of what that "mark" means...it means worship of a false god on earth.

9 "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." (Revelation 14:9-11)

I have spoke of this in times past, but if you take the scriptures spoken of in Revelation and the amount of death of whole populations of the earth combined, of the approximately 7.7 billion people on this earth right now, greater than 75% of them will be destroyed in God's wrath...that is estimating 5-6 billion people killed by God's coming judgment of unrighteous, rebellious mankind. And who can blame God for doing so? God has been patient for 6000 years for man to rule himself and turn to God and follow His commandments. He even sent His only Begotten Son as a substitute for the penalty that we all deserve, and that is death. But the world, at large has rejected His salvation found in His only Son. God's patience appears to be running out, as the signs and symptoms of a coming Tribulation is growing louder and louder, and the pangs of earth's redemption from sin through excising rebellion from this earth, much as a surgeon uses a scalpel to remove dead and decaying flesh, is fast approaching.:

7 " Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
(Galatians 6:7-8)

All who have committed evil in the sight of God will meet sure and righteous justice. Christians, make yourself ready to meet thy God, the Creator of everything in this universe:

1 "The Mighty One, God, the LORD, has spoken, And summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth.
3 May our God come and not keep silence; Fire devours before Him, And it is very tempestuous around Him.
4 He summons the heavens above, And the earth, to judge His people:
5 "Gather My godly ones to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice." (Psalms 50:1-5)

It speaks of sacrifice. Have you made a sacrifice to God? He is not speaking of animal sacrifice of bulls and goats that foreshadowed the perfect sacrifice that was nailed to a Roman cross almost 2000 years ago. That sacrifice was the perfect Lamb of God, Jesus the Messiah. If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, been baptized, and follow His example, then you have made the perfect Sacrifice before God. You that have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of your life, you have been covered with the blood, which God imparts righteousness to you, because of Him. We wait for the adoption process to be completed. We have the down payment of God's Holy Spirit residing with our spirit, but we wait for the adoption, to be born of the Spirit.

How do we know this? The answer is found in Romans:

16 " The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body." (Romans 8:16-23)

You and I were given liberty to choose the god of this world, or cast it off and believe in the only Begotten Son of God, who takes away the sins of the world. You who have believed and exercised your faith that to you, it became so simple, so easy that you cannot understand why not all of the world doesn't see it.....very simple reason, liberty.

1st Corinthians chapter 1:

18 "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men."(1st Corinthians 1:18-25)

You who read these warning, and examples of the coming judgment of Almighty God in all His righteous wrath, where do you stand? You, like all of us, have been given liberty to choose. Will you stand for good or evil, life or death? To choose this life and all it's trappings of sinful pleasure, is to choose death, but to give your heart and soul to the Creator of your soul and spirit, by believing on the only Begotten Son of God, is to choose life. It is a free will decision. God will not beat you about the head into submission and He will not wait forever. He wants you to fall in love with Him and follow Him out of your own free will choice, not out of coercion, but because you see Him as He is, Almighty God and you long to be with Him and return to Him that gave you life, and He will grant you life eternal!

God's Holy Spirit moved men to write in your bible the way to come to God and receive forgiveness, through liberty of choice between good or evil.

2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

And again, Paul tell us about what our Lord did for you and I in Romans:

6 "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement."(Romans 5:6-11)

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:8-13)

Take that God given liberty, your free will choice and make that commitment to follow Him, Jesus Christ, wherever He may lead you. Do it today, as to stand before Almighty God without being clothed in the righteousness of His Son, Jesus Christ at judgment day will convict you to receive the coming judgment in justice, or the wrath of a God as a consuming Fire.

Those who believed in the "One whom God hath sent" the time of our departure grows ever closer....as said in the Bible. "Lift up your heads for your redemption draweth nigh"
