Hal Lindsey : 3.21.20 -

March 15th, 2020

This week Hal Lindsey Presents looks at the Antichrist. This person has intrigued students of God's word since the days of the prophet Daniel. You've heard a great deal of speculation about him. Revelation 13 gives us a look at him from God's perspective.

This is extremely relevant right now. With the world in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic, we see how quickly global disaster can strike. The first person to be diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus started showing symptoms on December 8. At that time, no one had ever heard of this thing. But today, the United States of America has declared a national emergency.

Pestilences are just one of the problems the Bible says will strike the world in the time leading up to Christ's return. In their fear, people will see in the Antichrist someone who seems to have a miraculous ability to solve everyone's problems.

Antichrist will weaponize deception. Daniel 8:25 says, "Through his cunning He shall cause deceit to prosper."

In Matthew 24:3, the Lord's disciples asked, "What will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

Jesus then gave a discourse that would last the rest of chapter 24 and all of chapter 25. But the first words out of his mouth were, "Take heed that no one deceives you" (Matthew 24:4, NKJV).

Jesus told us that Satan is the father of lies. Revelation 13 says that Satan will give his power and authority to the Antichrist. You can see his chief characteristic from that. Antichrist will be the great deceiver. He will use the world's emergencies to achieve power for himself like no world leader before him.

Answering Fear

By Hal Lindsey

I've never counted them, but I have read that phrases like "fear not" or "do not be afraid" occur over 300 times in the Bible. Clearly, God does not want us to be afraid. In fact, He commands us not to fear.

That's because, in many ways, fear and faith are opposites. And Hebrews 11:6 says, "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."

And yet, when countries around the world are declaring national emergencies, the temptation to fear can grow. When markets falter, and wealth disappears before our eyes, we might be tempted to feel anxiety. The coronavirus COVID-19 is what Psalm 91:6 calls a "pestilence that stalks in darkness." We know it's there, and we know it's deadly, but we can't see it.

When we're tempted to fear, what does God say?

2 Timothy 1:7 says, "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

In Acts 20, Paul talked about his many afflictions and trials. Then, in verse 24, he put those difficulties into perspective. He said, "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God."

If your hope is in this world only, then you should be afraid. But if through the finished work of Jesus on the cross, you live in the assurance of heaven, then don't be afraid. Don't be moved by any of the things the world is throwing at you.

Romans 8:15 says, "For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, 'Abba! Father!'"

The New Living Bible translates Philippians 4:6 like this. "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done."

Cry out to Him as a child would cry out to his dear father - full of faith and trust. Then thank Him for all He has done.

1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear."

Psalms 34:4 says, "I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears."

In John 14:27, Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."

Psalms 57:1 says, "In the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by."

Isaiah 26:3 says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee."

These are difficult days. We should be prudent and plan things as well as we can. But panic? Fear? No! Let the Living God keep you in perfect peace.

Our study of the Antichrist continues this week on Hal Lindsey Presents. Revelation 13 deals with the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and the world of that era. This week, we go deeper into that amazing study.

Revelation 13:5 says, "And there was given to him a mouth." Mouths are routine human features, but there will be nothing routine about his mouth. He will have oratory and negotiating skills like none other. Beasts and horns require some study to understand, but the symbol of "a mouth" is clear to all. This guy's words will be smoother than warm butter.

He will stir audiences even more than Hitler. And, like Hitler, he will bring out the worst in people. He won't just speak well. He will be brilliantly deceptive - appealing to "the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life."

He will have a Satanically inspired understanding of what people want to hear and how to manipulate them into believing and acting in ways that will advance his agenda. And for a while, it will seem to work.

Ever wonder what officials will tell the public after the Church has been raptured away? This chapter gives us a powerful clue. Verse 6 says, "And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven."

Who will dwell in heaven at that time? Us! Members of the Body of Christ who died through the centuries and those who will have been raptured. When there are problems, who are the easiest people to blame? Those who aren't there. He will blame the world's problems on those who have gone to be with God.

Our study this week answers many of the questions people often ask about these profound events. We will look at the second beast - the False Prophet, one of the most darkly intriguing characters in scripture. We will also investigate the mark of the beast - how it will work and the power of the knowledge it will contain.

I hope you can join me for this week's Hal Lindsey Presents. I think it will be more than worth your time in helping you understand what's going on right now as the world rearranges itself into something Antichrist can manipulate and use.
