Hal Lindsey : 5.16.20

May 9th, 2020

This week's Hal Lindsey Presents contains timely information that you need to know! These programs were recorded, of course, before the present pandemic with its emergency orders, societal shutdowns, and social distancing. But you will be amazed at how much this installment will help you understand what's going on.

The program opens with the continuation of a study we began last week on the rationale and purpose behind the judgments of Revelation. To help you get a complete picture, we will overlap slightly with last week's introduction of the topic.

To understand the purposes behind the judgments of Revelation, we look at a phrase, repeated several times in the book - "those who dwell on the earth." We will look into the meaning of that phrase. The bottom line is that it means "those people who cling so much to the things of this earth that the things of this earth possess those people."

The case for judgment builds with every verse that contains the phrase "those who dwell on the earth." They murder, torture, behead, and they throw parties and give gifts when God's prophets are killed. Their rebellion against God and goodness becomes ever more complete.

This takes us to a study of "the world." Many times, when we see the word "world" in our English translations, it means something more than that. It means the "world system." Understanding the "world system" is crucial to understanding things happening on planet earth during the current pandemic. It's not just about a disease. It's about a "world system."

At least three times, Jesus referred to Satan as "the prince of this world." 1 John 2:15 says, "Do not love the world, nor the things in the world." Verse 17 says, "The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever."

1 John 5:19 says, "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one."

The outward facade of the world system changes from generation to generation. That includes the fashions of right and wrong, of political correctness. Those things shift. But the world system itself remains in the power of "the evil one," "the prince of this world."

I conclude this week's Hal Lindsey Presents by giving practical advice on how to keep the world system from getting a grip on you. Look for it on Daystar, Sunday at 11PM Eastern Time. Or, you can watch it online anytime at www.hallindsey.com or www.hischannel.com. If you missed any episodes, you can catch up by visiting www.hallindsey.com/videos/.
