ELECTION 2016: 6.4.16 - Trump says political media is dishonest

Trump says political media is dishonest - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org

The Hill reports Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and the news media had a run in after Memorial Day weekend, and Trump vowed that he will continue to be critical of the news media if he becomes President. The row came when Trump announced that he would give some six million dollars, including a million of his own money, to several veterans groups. Reporters questioned why he had taken so long to give the money when he had held a fund-raiser for veterans in January. Trump launched into a fiery exchange with the media because he felt they were criticizing him for what he considered doing a good thing for veterans. This is a far cry from how the press treats the current "president."

According to The Hill, here's the dialogue: "It seems to me you're resistant to the kind of scrutiny that you get with running for president of the United States?" said CNN anchor Jim Acosta. Trump responded: "I like scrutiny, but you know what, when I raise money-excuse me, excuse me, I've watched you on television and you're a real beauty-when I raise money for the veterans, and it's a massive amount of money-find out how much Hillary Clinton has given to the veterans, it's nothing." "I don't want the credit for it, but I don't want to be lambasted," Trump added. Later, Trump pointed to an ABC reporter and called him a "sleaze."

The reporters tried to educate Trump on why they ask such questions, but he was having none of it. One reporter said, "Writing a million-dollar check is incredibly generous ... but your critics say you exaggerate. Is this a prime example?" Another asked, "Why exaggerate?" Another reporter said, "When Democrats are raising questions, the press is also reflecting what your opposition is saying about you...We're not just us throwing questions at you." Trump responded that he didn't mind the criticism coming from the opposition, but said it's different when it comes from the press, "I think the political press is among the most dishonest I've ever seen. I have to tell you that...I see the stories and the way they're couched."

Let us recall the "president's" final White House Correspondents' Dinner last month. He said of the media, "But we've always shared the same goal--to root our public discourse in the truth; to open the doors of this democracy; to do whatever we can to make our country and our world more free and more just.  And I've always appreciated the role that you have all played as equal partners in reaching these goals." The "president" describes a free press as one that has the same goals as the White House. Trump says the political press is among the most dishonest he has ever seen.  Psalm 12:2 may be an accurate description of the press: "They speak deceit every one with his neighbor; with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak." And Trump is making sure they know he is on to them, as should we.

The prophetic reality - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Some Daily Jot readers and others who have read Daily Jots that have been forwarded are taking me to task over reporting what Republican Donald Trump is saying about the media. In fact, every time something is written about Trump, doesn't matter what it is, Christians are appalled that he is even mentioned in a Daily Jot. One accused me of Trump being my Messiah. Another wrote an email repeatedly calling Trump a liar. Another saying Trump is not a Christian. Others say that Trump is part of the global one world order conspiracy. To be fair, many more Christians are saying they support Donald Trump. The prophetic reality is that the upcoming election is more about destiny than candidates.

I say prophetic because this nation-whether people want to believe it or not-was not only founded, but built, on godly principles. I'm not saying that every person was a Christian. Neither am I saying that there were not wrongs and injustices heaped upon some. But I am saying that for the most part Americans followed God's principles in establishing this country. Our laws, our way of life, our general treatment of others were conducted in a manner that tried to abide in God's word. We have been a nation that supports godly principles worldwide-spreading of the gospel, support of human rights and freedom, support for Israel, and until recently, an adherence to the moral code of scriptures. We have been blessed.

No, Trump is not my messiah. I do not know what kind of president he will make. But I do know what the alternative is, and what hangs in the balance for a nation that turns away from God. In California, Brietbart reports on a Trump rally where "demonstrators" were aggressively pushing Trump supporters around and chanting and holding signs that read "America was never great," "F-k Donald Trump and his hate," "This is Mexico and you're not welcome," and more. Trump supporters were beaten and bloodied. We have reported before that George Soros, a true one world order guy, is paying for these thugs, and they are part of La Raza-a radical Hispanic group--and the Communist Party.

These are the same people that support the current "president" and the current presidential candidates-socialists Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. They are also those who are supported by the current "president" and the Democratic Party's socialist candidates. Herein is the clash in ideals between Trump and Clinton/Sanders. A socialist America, a godless America, is what Clinton/Sanders are aiming to foment. This shapes America's prophetic destiny. Your actions in the upcoming months in who you support, criticize, speak against, will also shape our prophetic destiny. Jesus says in Matthew 25 that nations will be judged as well as individuals, "he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats." That's prophetic reality. And your actions regarding our country help determine it.

The especially dishonest political media - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Many comment about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's abrasive and combative nature. They say he is too confrontational to be President. Some Christians are refusing to vote for him because he is not "Christian" enough. And the alternative is? C'mon. Really? Bernie Sanders is an atheist. And Hillary Clinton...are you really believing what you see when she dusts off the ole King James and parades in the front door of church before all the cameras and leaves out the back door before the sermon starts? Her words and deeds never have aligned. Trump resonates with America because he is telling it like it is, what people would like to say, what they are thinking, even through a heavy media filter.

Case in point is Wednesday's Daily Jot, quoting The Hill. The Hill is a publication for Capital Hill political junkies. It told some of the story about the confrontation between Trump and the media over his contributions to veterans groups. But it slanted the story toward the media as victims. What really happened should guide Christians on how we discern what we read, hear and see from the news media. A reporter asked if this is the way it would be, if he would continue to attack the media if elected President, Trump said: "Yes, it is. Because you are the most dishonest people, political press the most dishonest people I know. You know it and I know it. The press is dishonest, but the political press is especially dishonest."

Then Trump gave an example: "I don't mind scrutiny.  What I don't like is lies.  You can scrutinize me all day long but you set up false premises. You state things about me that are not true. Then you run stories on that. That's why I'm out here trying to correct the record." Trump's contributions to veteran's organizations were key. He said he was going to contribute $6 million and the contribution to date was $5.6 million, so the press was essentially calling him a liar. He said of his contributions, "I don't want the credit for it, but I don't want to be lambasted." Trump's point was that he was doing something good, but the media was making it look like he was doing something bad, unethical or illegal.

In twisting the facts, the media is insinuating that Trump is a liar, when in fact, the media is mixing a little bit of truth to make a better lie. Moreover, Americans have been so conditioned to be genteel that when a man stands up and actually fights an injustice, he is considered too abrasive. America is in a great deal of trouble right now due to the Islamic Marxist influence on media and politicians. They are seeking to destroy the American Ideal and replace it with a totalitarian system. They are dishonest and unjust in the name of honesty and justice. The advice with a warning of Ephesians 5:6 comes to mind: "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience." We must alertly discern and be aware of the "especially dishonest" political media.
