TRUMP WATCH: 11.11.16 - After Trump Victory, Pressure Builds to Officially Name Jerusalem Capital of Israel

After Trump Victory, Pressure Builds to Officially Name Jerusalem Capital of Israel - Katie Pavlich -

Before Donald Trump won the presidency on Tuesday night, he campaigned on a promise to officially name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and said he would order the relocation of the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv to the Holy City.

Now that Trump's victory is secure, pressure is already building for those promises to be fulfilled.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat cheered "Mazel tov, Mr. President!" to the winning candidate and then reminded Trump that he had promised to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel's declared capital, Jerusalem. The United States does not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, awaiting instead a final negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinians.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely - Israel's top diplomat - chimed in that she wanted Trump to fulfill his campaign vow to recognize Jerusalem. "That would be an important historic move," she said.

"This will symbolize the close relationship and courageous friendship between the two nations," said Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked.

The leader of Israel's Jewish Home party, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, called Trump's win "a tremendous opportunity for Israel to immediately announce its intention to renege on the idea of establishing Palestine in the heart of the country - a direct blow to our security and the justice of our cause."

Yesterday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his victory, calling him a great friend of the Jewish state.

"President-elect Trump, my friend, congratulations on being elected President of the United States of America. You are a great friend of Israel," Netanyahu said "The bond between the US and Israel is based on shared values, shared interests and a shared future. I am sure that President-elect Trump and I will continue to strengthen the special alliance between Israel and the US and we will bring them to new heights."

In return, Trump invited Netanyahu to visit the United States for a meeting. The two met at Trump Tower earlier this year.

Medvedev in Jerusalem as Putin waits for Trump -
http://www.debka.com/article/25772/Medvedev-in-Jerusalem-as-Putin-waits-for-Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his prime minister Dmitry Medvedev to Israel Wednesday, Nov. 9 as a gesture to mark the 25th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

It was not the only one: Almost his first action on arrival was a symbolic visit to the Western Wall, the eternal Jewish shrine in Jerusalem. Medvedev chose this gesture to underscore the comment he made last week: "Russia never denied Israel's or the Jewish people's rights in Jerusalem and in its holy sites, and the subject has been blown out of proportion."

The Russian prime minister was therefore demonstrating Moscow's recognition for Jewish rights in Israel, Jerusalem and its holy places - most of all Temple Mount - not just for the Palestinians. It was a message directed by the Kremlin to extremist Muslim organizations, which have set themselves the goal of "liberating Jerusalem from Israeli occupation."

On the broader level, Putin through Medvedev was telling the world, and the US in particular, that Russia was ready to act as peacemaker between the Arab world and Israel, with greater flexibility on the Jerusalem question than Washington has exhibited.

Since his visit to the Western Wall took place Thursday, the day after Donald Trump, who recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state, was elected US president, the Russian prime minister was also extending the hand of cooperation to the new administration on a long list of Middle East issues.

In Moscow, a few hours later, Russia's deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov made this disclosure in relation to the president elect: "There were contacts before the election. We continue this work of course."

Another official source elaborated on this: Representatives of the Russian embassy in Washington had met members of the Trump campaign, he said, whereas Hillary Clinton's advisers had refused to meet.

Both Putin and the incoming American president had therefore shown they would be open to doing business together.

This did not prevent Moscow making another sort of telling gesture on America's election day: It was announced that the carrier strike group from Russia's northern fleet, along with additional ships from the Black Sea fleet, were on their way to the Mediterranean to launch a crushing bombing and cruise missile assault on the Syrian rebels holding out in eastern Aleppo.

This fleet is led formidably by the Admiral Kuznetsov carrier, the Peter the Great guided missile cruiser and the Admiral Grigorovich guided missile frigate.

debkafile's military and intelligence sources report that this demonstration of Russian naval might and its mission did not catch the US administration by surprise. Some weeks ago, Putin informed President Barack Obama that he was determined to go through with the capture of Aleppo, Syria's second city, and hand it over to Bashar Assad.

Moscow almost certainly moved these pieces on the board in readiness for the election of Hillary Clinton rather than Trump. The ships would have loosed a hellish barrage on Aleppo as soon as her victory was announced. The Russian president has a long reckoning with Clinton ever since she was US Secretary of State, and especially when in early 2011, she rebuffed his appeal for cooperation to save the life of the Libyan ruler Muammar Qaddafi after he was ousted by a NATO operation managed from Washington.

The Russian operation to reclaim Aleppo for the Assad regime was originally set to show the incoming US president that the Russians have no qualms about using military force in other confrontation arenas, too, if that's what it takes to achieve their ends.

But like most of the world, the Kremlin was sure that Hillary would win the presidency and was taken aback when Donald Trump walked off with the prize. In view of this surprise, Putin may now decide to pause for second thoughts before bombing the Syrian rebels in Aleppo, or just hold off until his first direct meeting or contact with President elect Trump.

Holding accountability, seizing opportunity - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Exit polls showed that some 80% of Christian evangelicals voted for President-Elect Donald Trump. Trump carried a percentage point less of the white vote than did his previous Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Trump gained over Romney with Blacks and Latinos. So this was not a "race" charged election, unless you consider that we are all one race, the human race. Christians stood in the gap and made up the hedge, otherwise Hillary Clinton would be President. That's a fact. So all the deplorable, unredeemable, basement dwelling radical Bible thumpers elected a US President. But mark my word, the biggest threat to America right now, this very day, is the Christian evangelical.

This election demonstrated that when Christians decide to do something in this representative republic, it can get done--If we act in unity and are led by the Holy Spirit. We have the power to hold accountability in this nation. We also have the God-given mandate to "overcome evil with good." We are a threat to the nation because if we go back to our homes and families thinking that the job is done, that Trump will take care of business and all will be well, the nation will fail miserably. Christians must remain more engaged in society otherwise this nation will look like the protests of the losers across the country, who are protesting that Trump won and they are now "afraid" to be women, illegal immigrants and Muslims.

There are so many Christians wanting revival, but that is not going to happen unless Christians reach out to society with the good news of the gospel. It would be revolutionary act, not a bunch of Christians getting together for a show. We need a Revivalution to hold accountability in this nation. It starts with building on the very thing that brought us together in this election. The one thing American Christians apparently will stand in unity against is a known and recognizable evil. We saw what that looked and felt like and we need to keep doing it. Otherwise we will have a Matthew 12:45 situation where an unclean spirit comes out of a man but returns "and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first."

We can't accomplish this Revivalution by being all "holier than thou." We have to show by example the standard we live by. We need to speak into peoples' lives without being judgmental or legalistic. We need to know our place-ours is to show Christ to others, the Holy Spirit will convict them, and then we can coach 'em up. We have a tremendous opportunity to hold accountability by exercising our faith; being firm, but not offensive; showing love and respect; disagreeing without being disagreeable or sanctimonious; living by God's code of love, truth, honor, and justice. Lead by example.

When we see people protesting the election, or saying we are racist because of our vote, it's easy to look at them as whiny ignorant loser pawns of the godless communist agenda, but we need to be above that. We need to show by example that we are not bigots, racists, xenophobes, homophobes or whatever other politically correct phobia they have invented. Jesus said in Matthew 5:44-45, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven." This is a time to seize the opportunity, and hold accountability in changing our nation for the better. Let's do it!

For his victory speech, Wednesday, Nov. 9, President-designate Donald J. Trump, 70.  took the platform at campaign headquarters in the Hilton Hotel in New York along with Vice President Mike Spence and their families to inform an audience roaring "USA!" that Hillary Clinton had "congratulated us" on our victory and "I congratulated her for a hard campaign. We owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to this country."

Trump stressed the motif of unity. "I say to all Republicans, Democrats and Independents, let us come together as one united people, I will be president for all Americans. To those who chose not to support me I am reaching out to you for your guidance and help so that we can unify this country." He called on people of all religions, race and background to work together to build the American nation and use the untapped potential of every American. He pledged to rebuild national infrastructure and inner cities, take care of "our great veterans, double our growth and "get along with all nations who want to get along with us."

debkafile reported earlier on this extraordinary day:

Before the votes from all 50 US states were finally tallied, the Republican candidate Donald Trump had ramped up the 270 electors he needed to open his path to the White House and defeat his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

This climax marked the end of America's epic roller-coaster battle for the presidency that broke all the rules of past US electioneering campaigns. While the votes were still being counted, the mood swings at the New York headquarters of the two rivals contrasted starkly. Clinton's followers gathered to celebrate certain victory were bewildered and incredulous and began heading for the exits, while jubilant crowds gathered to hail Trump.

Donald Trump did more than beat a partisan rival. He confounded the majority of pollsters and pundits and the mainstream media. They all proclaimed him the worst disaster threatening America and the world, and gave their undivided support to his rival. He stood up to them all, adhered to his chosen role as rank outsider and  t his uncouth style of oratory to make war on the ruling establishments and their norms, including the Republican Party which gave him the nomination.

While long rows of pundits and analysts proclaimed Hillary Clinton the certain winner throughout this gloves-off campaign, Trump struck an authentic chord of popular anger and frustration with the system which he constantly declared rigged. One woman interviewed on the street on voting day said he had her vote because "He's not a politician, he's an American like us."

This sense packed his rallies to overflowing across the country. It was the powerful catalyst that brought Trump to victory - even more than the email and corruption scandals dogging Clinton's campaign. His indefatigable energy electrified his audiences and sustained him as he slogged for nearly two years up to the finish line. Most of the time he fought solo amid contempt for the vastly expensive campaign machine which served his rival

Trump is projected to start his term in the White House on Jan. 20 with the huge asset of a Republican majority projected in the Senate and House or representatives. He is therefore gifted with every advantage for meeting his pledge to the American people of a revolution for raising up the forgotten sections of society.

While still to come, that revolution has already making vibes outside the USA with stocks tumbling on global markets.

There is no point in guessing the nature of his team. Just as he put together in total privacy a small, tight team of advisers to support his run for president, so too can he be expected to stick to that mode of operation in the Oval Office.

He has his work cut out to start "draining the swamp," without delay, immediately revoking Barack Obama's presidential directives on a host of controversial issues, and convening Congress to repeal and replace Obamacare.

The Obamas backed Clinton's run to the hilt because they knew that President Trump would blot out all they had accomplished in their eight years in office.

He also faces the herculean tasks of rehabilitating US armed forces, rebuilding the American economy, creating the millions of well-paid jobs he promised his voters, and showing the world a strong America. He also pledged to install a fair judge to replace the late Justice Scalia on the Supreme Court as a high priority. He also committed to devise a solution for illegal immigrants and renegotiate more beneficial trade deals with foreign countries.

Strong floodlights will accompany every move he makes after Jan. 20. If he fails to make good on his mega program, he will risk losing a second term at the White House.

A Trump presidency puts the Iran deal on the rocks - Tovah Lazaroff - http://www.jpost.com/Us-Election-Results/A-Trump-presidency-puts-the-Iran-deal-on-the-rocks-472131

If Trump holds true to his campaign promises, his presidency could likely end the US conflict with Israel on two key issues: the Iran deal and West Bank settlements.

Over the last eight years the disagreement between the two allies over these topics was cannon fodder for the often acrimonious relationship between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama.

Netanyahu's persistent campaign against the agreement even took him to Washington, where he addressed a joint session of Congress, in a plea for the US politicians to halt the actions of their own president.

During the election, Trump minced no words in showing his disdain for the June 15th agreement between Tehran and the six-world powers, including the US, that was designed to curb Iran's nuclear capacity.

He promised to tear up the deal, which he said gives the US nothing in return for a contract that will allow Tehran to produce nuclear weapons even if it complies with the terms of the agreement.

"It's the stupidest deal of all time," Trump said.

"It's a one-sided transaction where we are giving back $150 billion to a terrorist state," he said.

Iran has already taken Trump at his word. Within hours of his acceptance speech early Wednesday morning in New York, Iran demanded that the US to maintain the deal.

"The United States should fulfill its commitments in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (the nuclear deal) as a multilateral international agreement," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javed Zarif was quoted as saying while on a visit to Romania.

He was not the only one who wasted no time in reminding Trump of pre-campaign promises.

Most of the settler leaders issued congratulatory statements to Trump, expressing their enthusiasm for the new page in US-Israel relations that they foresaw with his entry into the White House.

Under his leadership, the Republican party changed its platform during the election to eliminate any mention of the two-state solution. It recognized Jerusalem as the united capital of the Jewish state, and issued an affirmative statement that Israel was not an occupier in the West Bank, otherwise known as Judea and Samaria.

Trump has also promised to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

Since 2009, Netanyahu has pledged his support to the two-state solution, but has insisted that Jerusalem would remain Israel's capital and that Israel has a right to continue to build in Judea and Samaria.

Some of the settlers said that a Trump presidency would allow them to annex Area C of the West Bank. Education Minister Naftali Bennett said that this was the time for Israel to retract the idea of a Palestinian state.

In the days leading up to the election and until its last hour, there were those in the United States and indeed throughout the world, that expected Wednesday to dawn with a Hillary Clinton presidency.

As a former First Lady, US Senator and Secretary of State, they were reassured by the notion of someone with so much foreign policy experience at the helm of one of the world's super powers.

While they might be gasping at the sudden void of experience at the top, the dramatic turn around of a Trump presidency has some beneficial aspects for Israel.

It places a right-wing government in charge of the United States, which could work in conjunction with a right-wing Israeli leadership.

Unlike Obama, Trump, whose party also controls the House of Representatives and the Senate, would have  more freedom to act on his policy initiatives than his predecessor, who fought repeatedly with the Republican Congress.

The timing could not be better. It comes as the Palestinian campaign to force Israel to withdraw to the pre-1967 lines is gaining steam and as Iran's is increasing its activities in the Middle East.

In spite of the anti-Semitic overtones of some of Trump's campaign choices, his presence in the White House could end the daylight between Washington and Jerusalem.

With regard to Iran, it could help decrease the threat from Tehran, and stymie Palestinian diplomatic warfare against the Jewish state.

For those on the Israeli Left, who believe that Israel's rule of the West Bank is a threat to Israel's future as a Jewish and democratic state, a Trump presidency is one more setback in a long list of defeats it has suffered.

But for those on the Right, it falls like a rainstorm after a long period of drought.

Clexit - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

Several analysts characterized Donald Trump's presidential victory as similar to the recent Brexit vote where Great Britain rejected globalism and left the European Union. Perhaps the Trump victory should be characterized as Clexit-the mass exit of the American people from the Clinton brand of morally bankrupt and corrupt politics. According to exit polls, some 80% of evangelical Christians turned out with a strong vote for now President-elect Trump. The Wall Street Journal reports that born-again Christians voted for Trump in numbers larger than they supported the Republican presidential candidates in the past three elections. This proves the power of Christian's in this nation when they move in unity.

Clearly, American Christians sent a message to those who call evil good and good evil: that we are not going to take it anymore. The demeaning of Israel with the elevation of her enemies; the possibility of a Supreme Court bending our laws against life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; the loss of our jobs and dignity to globalism; unsecured borders; massive crime; race-baiting; bribery; socialist health care; Islamic terrorism; the disrespecting of God in the public square; the destruction of marriage-are the sum of the parts that equaled the whole result of this election. Christians stepped up and voted for the imperfect candidate to save the country from one of the most evil agendas in our history.

Now that we have seen how God can work though us when we are obedient; how prayer and action is honored, may the hope of unity found in Ephesians 4:14-16 be our mantle going forward: "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supply, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, make increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

You see, we have our work cut out for us. We have bought some time. There are only promises of a better, more righteous future for our nation. We must hold accountability-not the type of accountability of judgment and condemnation to our fellow citizens who disagree with us and are blinded by the god of this world, but the accountability of the standard of Christ in whom we believe and are disciples. From Supreme Court appointments to the treatment of Israel to freedom of religion, we must stand in the gap and make the hedge. We must be ever vigilant that our nation is fully advantaged by the mercy our Lord has bestowed upon us. Let us continue to pray, act, repent, and seek the Lord that he may forgive our sin and heal our land. Happy Clexit!
