10 Biblical Reasons Behind Trump's Decision to Recognize Jerusalem as Israel's Capital City - By Tuly Weisz - https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/99025/10-biblical-reasons-behind-trumps-decision-recognize-jerusalem-israels-capital-city/#3D0hH4Bd3XAgy4Zu.99
This week Jews and Christian Zionists are rejoicing that President Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. In his remarks set a Christmas backdrop the day before the White House Hanukkah party, the president of the Unites States declared that Jerusalem is "the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times."
Here are 10 Biblical reasons that Trump made the right decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognize the city as Israel's capital.
1) Jerusalem is mentioned over 800 times in the Bible.
For Zion's sake I will not be silent and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be still. ISAIAH 62:1 (The Israel Bible)
Jerusalem is referred to by name 662 times and Zion is mentioned over 150 times in the Bible, not to mention thousands of additional references throughout ancient Jewish literature and Rabbinic sources. There is not a single mention of Jerusalem in Islam's holy text, while Mohammed never once visited the holy city.
2) "King David declared it 3,000 years ago!"
But I chose Jerusalem for My Name to be there, and I chose David to rule over My people Israel. II CHRONICLES 6:6 (The Israel Bible)
No electoral college nor parliament elected Israel's King. God Almighty selected David as the leader of Israel, and chose Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish kingdom, where King David ruled from for 33 years. While occupied over the centuries by numerous foreign empires, no other nation made Jerusalem its capital city besides the Jewish people. When confronted by critics of Israel's claim to the holy city, Prime Minister Menachem Begin would retort, "We didn't declare Jerusalem to be our capital city, King David declared it 3,000 years ago!"
3) The Jews have never forgotten Jerusalem.
If I forget thee O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither. PSALMS 137:5 (The Israel Bible)
Despite being scattered to the four corners of the earth, Jews have never forgotten about their holiest city. "I am in the west, but my heart is in the east," said the famous medieval Jewish poet, Judah Halevi. Even on our happiest days, we pause to reflect upon the destruction of the ancient Temple in Jerusalem. At all Jewish weddings, the groom declares from under the bridal canopy, "If I forget thee O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither," and breaks a glass to serve as a sad reminder that no occasion is completely joyous in the absence of the Holy Temple.
4) The sovereign State of Israel established Jerusalem as its capital city.
Thus said the Lord, 'I have returned to Zion, and I have made My dwelling in the midst of Jerusalem.' ZECHARIAH 8:3 (The Israel Bible)
The Israeli government decided that the shekel is its national currency, Hatikvah is its national anthem, and its capital city is Jerusalem. Placing an embassy in any other Israeli city denies Israel her sovereignty and is unheard of in world politics. In fact, Israel is the only country in the world where America's Embassy is not in its functioning capital, until now.
5) Throughout history there has been an uninterrupted Jewish presence in Jerusalem.
Judah will exist forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. JOEL 4:20 (The Israel Bible)
The first epic tale of Biblical heroism takes place when Abraham brings his son Isaac and demonstrates his unyielding faith in God on Mount Moriah, the center of Jerusalem. That same site is where David establishes the seat of his Kingdom, where his son Solomon builds the First Temple, and after its destruction, where the Second Temple is also erected. Despite numerous attempts to exile the Jewish community from the Land of Israel, and in the face of constant oppression by foreign occupiers, the Jews have remained faithful, and ever present, in Judaism's holiest city.
6) Jerusalem has always been the focus of Jewish practices.
Arise, let us ascend to Zion, to the Lord our God. JEREMIAH 31:5 (The Israel Bible)
In modern times, Jerusalem is the center of Jewish ritual and religious practice, just as it was in ancient times. Although we no longer have the Biblical mandate to ascend three times per year to worship in the Temple, every single day, Jews make constant reference to Jerusalem in our daily blessings and prayers. The central Jewish prayer, said three times per day, includes the request that God "open our eyes to the restoration of Zion." At mealtimes, as well, Jews beseech the Almighty to "Build up the holy city of Jerusalem," and at the conclusion of every Yom Kippur service and Passover Seder, we fervently declare, "Next year in Jerusalem!"
7) Only Israel protects the holy sites of all faiths.
My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples. ISAIAH 56:7 (The Israel Bible)
Even at the peak of ancient Jewish nationalism, during the times of the Temple, the priests and levites serving in Jerusalem warmly embraced the worship and sacrificial offerings of Jew and Gentile alike. Judaism does not see itself as having a monopoly on truth or being the only path to God. Judaism has deep respect for all monotheistic faiths, and welcomes the prayers of all those who call out in the name of the One God. Unfortunately, not everyone in this region has such an open-door policy. When Muslims controlled Jerusalem up until 1967, ancient Jewish and Christian holy sites were ransacked and disgraced. Today, the holy city flourishes once again. It is open to all religions and welcomes millions of pilgrims each year from all over the world.
8) Jews worldwide pray in the direction of Jerusalem.
May God bless you from Zion, and may you gaze upon the goodness of Jerusalem, all the days of your life. PSALMS 128:5 (The Israel Bible)
There is no better way to understand what a person loves than to know what they pray for. A person's deepest values and ultimate priorities emerge from his or her prayerful heart. Far from being just a trivial detail, the direction in which a person prays speaks volumes as to where their loyalties are. Muslims, for example, even while they are praying on the Temple Mount, turn their prayer rugs in the direction of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, while Palestinians living in other parts of Israel turn their backs to Jerusalem altogether while praying. On the other hand, every synagogue in the world is built facing Jerusalem. Synagogues in North America are built facing east while synagogues in Asia face west so that whenever a Jew prays, he or she faces Jerusalem.
9) American law already requires the Embassy to move to Jerusalem.
Upon your walls, O Jerusalem, have I posted guardians all day and all night, continuously, they will never be silent. ISAIAH 62:6 (The Israel Bible)
In 1995, the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act was passed by the 104th Congress by a sweeping vote of 93-5 in the Senate and 374-37 in the House of Representatives. Eighteen years ago, Congress passed a law "initiating and funding the relocation of the Embassy of the United States in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, no later than May 31, 1999." Expressing the will of the American people, the act also called for "Jerusalem to remain an undivided city and for it to be recognized as the capital of the State of Israel."
10) The name Jerusalem contains a blessing for peace.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; those who love you will be serene. PSALMS 122:6 (The Israel Bible)
While Palestinians are threatening three days of violence and rage, the essence of Jerusalem emerges from its sacred Hebrew name, Yerushalayim. At its core is the word 'Shalom' which has three meanings in Hebrew: hello, goodbye and peace. Shalom is the way friends greet one another, it is how Israelis answer their phones and begin emails. But, Shalom is more than a greeting, it is also a blessing. Peace is the most important gift we can ask from God, on an individual level, as families and between countries. It is therefore of utmost significance that the world's holiest city, Jerusalem, has Shalom at its core, because only when Jerusalem is at peace, can the whole world finally enjoy peace on earth. Let us pray that now that America has recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, we will begin to enjoy peace in the holy city.
The Land of Milk, Honey, and a Very Heavy Stone - Pete Garcia -
Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. Then He said to Abram: "Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete." Genesis 15:12-16
The land of Israel was promised to the Jewish people (future descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) some 4,000 years ago. At that time, the pagan peoples of the Amorites, Jebusites, Amalekites, Canaanites, Girgashites, etc., had occupied the land flowing with milk and honey. Around 3,600 years ago, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob made good on His promise and delivered the Hebrews from Egyptian bondage and into the Promised Land (with a 40-year detour added).
3,000 years ago, King David founded the city which up until that point had been the Canaanite (Jebusite) cities of Jeru and Shalem. It is here that the angel of the Lord was in the process of destroying Jerushalem when God stopped his path of destruction near the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite (2 Samuel 24:16) and instructed Gad the Seer to tell King David to make the sacrifice there. Before doing that, King David bought the threshing floor and the bulls to do so. 2,000 years ago, Jerusalem was the established capital in the Roman province of Judaea.
1,000 years ago, Jerusalem had been under the control of the Abbasid Dynasty (Muslim) and was about to be captured by the first Crusaders. 500 years ago, the Ottoman Turks defeated the Mameluke forces and captured Jerusalem. 120 years ago, Theodor Herzl convened the first Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland in 1897. It was here that European Jews began planning to move back to their ancient homeland, which at that time, was still under the control of the Ottoman Turks. 100 years ago, British forces liberated Jerusalem from the Ottoman Turks (who had sided with the Central Powers in WWI). 70 years ago, the Jews won their right for statehood on November 29th, 1947 at the United Nations with Resolution 181.
50 years ago, the Jewish forces decisively defeated numerous Arab and Egyptian forces in the Six Day War in 1967 and recaptured the city of Jerusalem from the Jordanians in the process. 40 years ago, US President Jimmy Carter along with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin began setting the stage for what would come to be known as the Camp David Accords. The Accords, which would set in place for the next forty years, the idea of "land for peace." 30 years ago, the Temple Institute was formed to make the third Jewish temple, become a reality. 22 years ago, the US Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act, which required the US to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem or be waived every six months.
Five days ago, US President Donald Trump didn't sign this waiver, and then officially announced Jerusalem as Israel's eternal, and undivided capital. He then instructed his State Department to begin moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He became the first US president to do so in 70 years.
Assessment
The significance of what Donald Trump just did should not be underestimated. Three previous US presidential administrations all promised during their respective campaigns to do something they probably had no intention of doing. When elected, they didn't do it because they thought they could use Jerusalem as leverage for any final peace deals. But since Trump broke ranks and did the right thing, what are we to make of our seemingly paradoxical situation? Will the US be blessed because of what he did, or will our misfortunes as a nation in moral freefall continue on the prophetic glide path towards last-days irrelevancy?
Now the Lord had said to Abram:
"Get out of your country,
from your family
and from your father's house,
to a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
and make your name great;
and you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and I will curse him who curses you;
and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Gen. 12:1-3)
To answer my recent question, I believe it will be both. We as a nation might have some respite from President Trump's decision on a geopolitical level, but I believe the blessing will be with him and those who supported his decision to officially recognize Jerusalem. He may be now viewed in the same category as the great Gentile leaders from antiquity like Cyrus or Artaxerxes II in assisting Israel's survival as a people and as a nation.
In more recent times, he joins President Truman (the first world leader to recognize Israel as a nation) and President Nixon (who came to Israel's aid in her greatest hour of need). Both these presidents supported Israel despite tremendous opposition even from within their own administrations (compare with Ezra 4). To his credit, I believe Caroline Glick's recent article captures the essence of the Trump doctrine and how that will play out in the coming weeks, months, and years.
To sum up then, by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Trump made clear that US support for Israel is not conditioned on anything. Israel, the Jewish state, is supported by the US because it deserves US support as an allied democracy. Trump strengthened himself against his political opponents by taking ownership of a deeply popular foreign policy position. He took control of US foreign policy from a State Department that opposes his policies. He made reality, rather than the defiance of reality, the foundation of US Middle East policy. He put US allies and enemies on notice that he is calling the shots in US foreign policy. And he took a large step toward restoring US credibility as a superpower. Oh, and he accomplished all of these things without spending a dime. For his gift to Israel, Trump now enters the pantheon of Israel's friends in the annals of Jewish history. For his gifts to America he has taken his place among the most astute American statesmen. And for his political and economic mastery, he enters the ranks of the geniuses of American political history.
As to the relevancy of our nation in terms of the prophetic picture, we are still headed to the same exact place we were while under Barack Obama. Even though Cyrus and Artaxerxes II greatly aided Israel and are remembered in the annals of history for doing so, the mighty Persian Empire still fell to the rising Greek power of Philipp II and Alexander the Great. I believe God will bless President Trump's presidency, but I also still think that those who are the enemy of God and Israel, will continue to suffer at the hands of divine justice (Romans 1:16-32).
We still must contend with the reality that this world is currently under the management of Satan and his varied forces (Luke 4:5-7, 1 John 5:19). As long President Trump continues in office, he can expect intense pressure to reverse this decision. Even though Nixon aided Israel during the Yom Kippur War, that didn't prevent his impeachment because of Watergate. However, it was added to the righteous acts he performed in this life. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will protect Trump and his administration until his purposes at this stage of human history are complete. As to the United States, we are still heading to our appointed rendezvous with prophecy. Even we as a nation (if we are still a nation), will one day come against Israel as an enemy.
"Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. Zechariah 12:2-3
Conclusion
Like the iniquity of the Amorites, the fullness of the Gentiles is about run its course (Luke 21:24). The Pre-Tribulation (or pre-70th Week) Rapture will instantaneously remove all born-again believers from the earth. We know that according to Scripture, there is a final, Gentile kingdom coming that will dominate the earth for seven years (Rev. 13). According to the Prophet Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27), the prince who is to come is from the same people who destroyed the temple and Jerusalem in 70AD. This would make whoever the Antichrist is, come from somewhere within the boundaries of the old Roman Empire. Through the use of advanced technology (quantum computing, artificial technology, digital currency, etc.), and satanically-charged supernatural power, this man of lawlessness will ruthlessly rule the entire planet for a season. He starts his reign of terror with a covenant committed between Israel and the many nations (Isaiah 28:15, Dan. 9:27).
Although we don't know exactly what this covenant entails, we can reasonably assume it will build off Trump's recent declaration and will probably deal with the final status of Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, and the building of a new Jewish temple. We know there is a third temple because the Bible demands one to be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40-48, Matt. 24:15, 2 Thess. 2:4, Rev. 11:1-2). The world under Satan's influence has long desired to make Jerusalem an international city under the pretenses that it serves the world's three major religions. Each religion can claim some connection as Muslims and Christians because both have conquered and held control over it for brief periods of time. In the coming weeks and months, Jerusalem will become an even greater cup of trembling as the nation's rage over this recent declaration (Zech. 12:2-3).
But what will really happen, is that this man Antichrist (rider on the white horse) will use peace as justification to take over Jerusalem maybe involved in allowing for the Jews to actually build their new temple. At the midway point of this seven years, this same man will desecrate the newly rebuilt Jewish temple by setting himself up as God-incarnate and his false prophet will demand all peoples worship him on pain of death. Jesus said that when the Jews in Jerusalem see this, they must flee Jerusalem and leave without even packing their things (Matt. 24:15-18). God will shepherd them and move them to a safe place to shelter them during the last half of Daniel's 70th Week (Isaiah 26:20-21, Rev. 12:13-17).
President Trump (like Cyrus and Nebuchadnezzar) was selected by God for this appointed time, to at a minimum, do this appointed thing (recognize Jerusalem). We know that there is a spiritual conflict going on because Jerusalem is not strategically significant in any other manner than a religious one. Although the Jews as a people-group have been blinded to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at present (Romans 11:25-29), God's promises and calling to them are unchangeable (Jer. 31:35-37). After the Rapture and at a certain point during the Tribulation, they will realize that Jesus really was the Messiah, and they will call upon Him for salvation.
"And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10
Until then, pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122)

Trump's Jerusalem declaration sparks talk of 3rd Temple - http://www.wnd.com/2017/12/trumps-jerusalem-declaration-sparks-talk-of-3rd-temple/
Israeli activist: 'Words of prophecy are coming forth from the Bible and becoming facts'
While Muslims jeer, Israelis cheer President Trump's Jerusalem declaration, prompting Jewish religious activists to suggest building the Third Temple is closer to reality than ever before.
"What he did ... was an enormous step in bringing the Temple," said Asaf Fried, official spokesman for the United Temple Movement, an association of organizations working towards making the Third Temple a reality.
He added, "This necessarily had to come from a non-Jew in order to bring them into the process, so they will be able to take their part in the Temple."
Fried sees Trump's role similar to the one played by Cyrus, the Persian king who ended the Babylonian exile and helped build the Second Jewish Temple.
"There have been amazing advances towards bringing the Temple this year. It was clear that Trump was part of that process, guided by Hashem (God)," Fried declared.
He is hardly alone in his jubilation about the possibilities of rebuilding a Temple last destroyed in A.D. 70 - 1,948 years ago.
"The prophets' words of prophecy are coming forth from the Bible and becoming facts right before our eyes," said Likud lawmaker and prominent Temple Mount movement figure Yehuda Glick.
Quoting from the opening words of the book of Lamentations, in a reference to Jerusalem, Glick noted that once Jeremiah had wept, crying "How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations!"
But the rise of the state of Israel, coupled with Trump's declaration, have now changed all that, Glick suggests: "So, Mister Jeremiah, I'm sending you a WhatsApp: 'Jerusalem is no longer alone like a widow. Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of the Jewish People.'"
Rabbi Hillel Weiss, spokesman for the nascent Sanhedrin, was cautiously optimistic.
"One year ago, the Sanhedrin called on Trump to build the Temple as Cyrus did 2,000 years ago," Weiss said. "He has clearly moved in this direction but there is still a long way to go and many pitfalls that could prevent that from happening. Trump is facing enormous political pressures. The borders of Jerusalem are still open to negotiation. The Temple Mount is still not a settled issue and the United Nations is working hard at trying to convince the world the Jews have no place there. If Trump is to succeed, the Jews have to come together in unity in order for him to remain strong."
Yakov Hayman, the United Temple Movement chairman, also saw Trump's statement as part of a major shift in modern history for Israel and the Jewish people.
He said, "1917 was the Balfour Declaration establishing Israel for the nations, 2017 was Trump's declaration."
"When Jews and non-Jews go up en masse, the Temple is inevitable," Hayman added. "The people of Israel are returning to their roots while simultaneously the non-Jews of the world are realizing the authenticity of our claim to the Temple Mount and our right to build a Jewish Temple as a House of Prayer for All Nations. These processes are codependent. It depends on the Jews, our actions, but the non-Jews are an essential part of the process. Our task is to act as priests to make the whole world holy," Hayman said, citing verse 19:6 in the Book of Exodus: "And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel."
He added: "That will only happen in a Temple in Jerusalem," he emphasized. "The next step, the most important step, must be taken by the Jews. We need to begin going up to the Temple Mount is massive numbers. Once we do that, the Temple is the next inevitable step."
Glick sad: "Just as I've said that the State of Israel is a miracle, one of the greatest of miracles, it seems to me that the fact that hundreds of millions of people, Christians, recognize Israel, is another stage in the miracle."
"There is something very special and holy in Trump," added Hayman. "Sometimes, he appears coarse and not connected to religion, but every time he addresses the nation he speaks about God. Last night, he said his motivation for recognizing was Jerusalem was because it was the right thing to do. That is precisely how a leader guided by God should speak."
Jerusalem the Capital of the World
- By Sean Gooding - http://www.raptureready.com/2017/12/12/jerusalem-capital-world-sean-gooding/
Lesson 21: Zechariah Chapter 8: 18-23
"Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 'Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah. Therefore, love truth and peace.'
"Thus says the Lord of hosts: 'Peoples shall yet come, inhabitants of many cities; The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, 'Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord, and seek the Lord of hosts. I myself will go also.' Yes, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord.'
"Thus says the Lord of hosts: 'In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, 'Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"
Man, do we live in exciting times! Today is December 9, 2017. On Wednesday, December 6th, President Trump declared that the USA will now acknowledge that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel. This is a historic announcement.
For all intents and purposes, Tel Aviv has been the recognized capital of Israel since Israel re-formed as a nation in May 1948. Even after the Six-Day War in 1967, when they retook Jerusalem, no one wanted to defy the Palestinian Authority and declare that Jerusalem was the ancient and rightful capital of Israel. Well, with the USA declaring that recognition and planning to move its embassy to Jerusalem, there is no longer any doubt.
Out of courtesy I asked one of the co-workers about how his week was going after having a day off and not seeing him for a day. He commented that his week was good except for the idiocy that President Trump did in Israel. I forgot that he was a Muslim. He is from Egypt. I commented that I was good with it.
So, the stage is gradually being set for the return of Jesus to rule the whole earth from Jerusalem. The Muslims may squawk, and they will, loudly. There may be bombs and rallies and suicide bombers, but the stage is set. Let us not forget that the Antichrist will also seek Jerusalem from where to rule the earth. Satan knows enough of the Bible to know that Jerusalem is God's earthly city capital.
The prophecies of Zechariah that we are to explore today deal with the Millennial Kingdom of Jesus. This will be a time of peace on earth when Satan is caged in a pit for 1,000 years. The period of time is described this way:
Revelation 20:1-3 "Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time."
During this time, there will be some other really cool things that will happen. There will be no infant deaths, and living to 100 will be commonplace.
Isaiah 65:20 "No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of one hundred, And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred Will be thought accursed."
Even the animals will be at peace.
Isaiah 11:6 "And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them."
And as we mentioned before, Jerusalem will be the political and spiritual capital of the earth.
Isaiah 2: 2 "Now it will come about that in the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it."
So, what we have witnessed over the past few days is just the beginning, as we see the world being set up for the next phase. The New World Order that has been prophesied by Presidents Bush Sr. to Obama, by the Pope, and by the leaders of the EU will be put in place. For now, President Trump is being used of God to set up the pins of God's prophecies, just so God can knock them down and show His Omniscience. He truly does know the end from the beginning, and He truly has control of tomorrow.
Truth and Peace, verse 19
Today, in our time, truth does not normally bring peace. For instance, if we tell the truth about the 'transgendered lie,' there is no peace. The truth is that there are only TWO (2) genders, Male and Female. There are no others, just XX and XY. No amount of surgery, medications, hair growth or hair removal, no amount of hormone therapy or anything else will change that. When we get up and state this truth, it causes a fight and a war. Governments are trying to squelch the freedom of speech for the truth.
But in the time when Jesus rules the earth from Jerusalem, there will be peace and truth. We are called to love peace and truth. In fact, we are to be peacemakers here on earth until Jesus returns.
Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."
We are called to search the scriptures-the truth-God's written declared truths. In the Bible are the truths of creation, life, death, hope, the future, the present and the past. In the Bible are the truths of how to run a business, how to run a family and how to run a country. The Bible shares truths on how to pick your spouse, your friends and your enemies. The Bible has been proven to be true in its science, its history and its geography.
With this truth, those of us who also have Jesus as our Savior are able to find true peace. We have peace in daily life, the peace that Jesus is in control and that He will never abandon us no matter how it may feel or hurt. We have the peace of God in us through His Holy Spirit that carries us when we cannot go on any longer. We have a peace that transcends human understanding and sight.
One day soon this kind of peace will be available to everyone. Jesus will be the clear and present standard of truth; the Bible will still be the Book, and He will usher in an era of peace that we only see movies about. There is no Utopia without Jesus. This is the problem of the New World Order; they want to get peace without Jesus, and that is an impossibility.
All the World will seek the Lord, verse 22
Wow, what if this were true now? What if all the nations simply just sought the Lord? What if they consulted the Bible before making laws and executing judgment? What if each company had to build their business model on Biblical principles of integrity, openness, and serving the poor? What if the economy operated on Biblical financial principles so that all personal debts were wiped out every seventh year? What if we gave people a fresh start and did not burden the next generations with our stupid decisions?
But we still have some leaders that seek the Lord. In all of our governments, even here in North America, we have a few persons who seek the Lord as they perform their governmental duties. They are few and far between, and they are often drowned out, but they are there. The day will come, and soon, when the nations of the world will seek the truth from Jesus. They will travel to Jerusalem and seek Jesus. They will ask for the eternal wisdom of the Almighty God. What a world that will be!
God is with Israel, verse 23
We are told that in that day, not too far from now, 10 men will seek a Jew and ask to go to Jerusalem with him since they know that God is with them. God has been with the Jews since Genesis 12: 1-3 when He called out Abram to follow Him. He has overseen and superintended the Jews for 4,500 years. He has protected them, cared for them and preserved them.
Yes, they have been hurt, killed, maligned and scattered by many all over the earth. God has allowed them to suffer horrendous crimes at times, and still they are His. We see this in passages such as the following:
Deuteronomy 7: 6-8 "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples; but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers; the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt."
Psalm 105: 8-15 "He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations, the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac. Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying, 'To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance,' when they were only a few men in number, very few, and strangers in it. And they wandered about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people. He permitted no man to oppress them, and He reproved kings for their sakes: 'Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.'"
Over and over again and again, the Lord makes it clear that Israel is His and those that hurt them do so to their own detriment. God is with Israel even today. They are surrounded on every side by millions of Muslims all clamoring for their destruction, but they cannot do anything lasting - maybe a few rockets here and there, and a skirmish now and then. But they cannot get rid of Israel ever again out of their place, because God is with them.
God can never abandon the Jews, JESUS IS A JEW. He cannot abandon Jesus. We in the New Testament church are called to pray for Israel, and to wait for the coming of the Lord.
Psalm 122: 6-7 "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces."
As we come to the season to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, please remember that He was born as the King of the Jews. The first time He came as our Messiah, to take away our sins. The next time He comes, He will arrive as the rightful King of the Jews.
Last week, President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He also announced that the United States would begin the process of moving its embassy there. That process will take at least three years, and probably more.
It's hard to see why this is such a big deal. Jerusalem has never not been the capital of Israel. Not only since the formal founding of modern day Israel in 1948, but thousands of years before that.
Nevertheless, the mainstream media went into a frenzy. Reuters said that it "reversed decades of U.S. policy" and imperiled "Middle East peace efforts and (upset) the Arab world and Western allies alike." And it got all those calamities into just the first sentence!
Saudi Arabia called the move "irresponsible and unwarranted."
Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei said Trump's action was the result of "incompetence and failure..." Huh?
The EU's top diplomat said it would "undermine" EU peace efforts. It's a little hard to undermine something that has already been dead and buried for years!
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh routinely declared that the move was "an uncalculated gamble that will know no limit to the Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim reaction." So what isn't?
Truth be known, though there were a few violent protests in Gaza and the West Bank, the reaction has not been as bad as the response to last summer's decision by Israel to install metal (read that "weapons") dectectors at the entrances to Temple Mount. And that was intended to protect everyone's safety! Muslim and non-Muslim alike.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared it "a momentous day...." He said that in Jerusalem's "extraordinary history and over the millennia, you can cite a few significant milestones. Yesterday's statement by President Trump is such a milestone."
Ironically, just as America's support for Israel is reaching new heights, its support by young evangelical Christians is reaching new lows.
One key to U.S. support for Israel has been the evangelical Christian community. But among younger evangelicals, that support may be diminishing.
A recent survey reveals that, among evangelicals 18-34, 58% have a positive view of Israel. That compares with 70% of those over 50 and 77% of those over 65. Those aren't huge differences, but they do show a definite trend downward.
In view of the findings, Joel Rosenberg noted, "If you extrapolate that, in 10 years you have a crisis, but now we have a challenge."
In commenting on these findings, The Jerusalem Post noted, "Younger people are less familiar with the Bible and increasingly moved by social justice concepts. That means they are easy targets for pro-Palestinian narratives."
And do they have some narratives!
In fact, Muslims are masters of myth.
Sometimes Arab propaganda is subtle. At other times, it can be so outrageous, so preposterous, and so imaginative that you have to marvel at the sheer inventiveness.
Here's an example. One of the Mideast myths cut from whole cloth is the notion that Jerusalem is actually an Arab city.
The Arab propaganda machine has managed to convince world media, diplomatic establishments, and many in academia that Jerusalem is as important to Muslims as it is to Jews.
While it's true that Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock shrine are important to Islam, and they're located in Jerusalem, they were actually built on top of the Jews' old Temple -- which existed thousands of years earlier.
Jerusalem was never an important city to Muslims. In fact, when Mohammed started Islam, in order to attract Jews and Christians, he suggested that daily prayers be directed to Jerusalem.
After 18 months, that proved a bust. So he changed direction. Since then, Muslims have prayed in the direction of Mecca -- the undisputed holiest city in Islam.
Long after Mohammed was dead, a legend arose that he ascended into the seventh heaven from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The Koran only says that the event took place at the "uttermost mosque." But there was no mosque in Jerusalem at that time.
At the time of Mohammed's death, Medina was the farthest mosque. In fact, there was a Christian church occupying Temple Mount when Mohammed died. Yet the Palestinians want to rename the Western Wall -- or Wailing Wall -- the "Buraq Wall" in honor of Mohammed's horse (on which he rode into heaven).
There is no historical evidence that Mohammed ever set foot in Jerusalem.
Al-Aqsa mosque may, indeed, be Islam's third holiest site, but there is nothing about the city of Jerusalem that would even compare it to Islam's holiest cities of Mecca and Medina.
British historian and Persian scholar, Christopher Sykes, wrote, "To the Muslims, it is not Jerusalem, but a certain site in Jerusalem which is venerated. To a Muslim, there is a profound difference between Jerusalem and Mecca and Medina. The latter are holy places containing holy sites. Apart from the hallowed rock, Jerusalem has no major Islamic significance."
Until 1948, that is.
When the Jews declared the modern state of Israel, with Jerusalem as their capital, "...suddenly, for the first time in history, the Arabs discovered and revealed to the world the vehement, passionate, almost desperate, accents of a deep-rooted, long-standing and undying attachment to Jerusalem." (Samuel Katz)
Muslim attachment to Jerusalem came about in the last 100 years. But for the Jews, it has been 3,000 years. No people are as connected to a city as Jews to Jerusalem. That connection is historical, religious, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
For hundreds of years, Jews around the world have ended the Passover Seder with the words, "Next year in Jerusalem."
Despite what the UN, the EU, or the Arab world might say, God Himself made Jerusalem the eternal capital of Israel.
