JERUSALEM AS ISRAEL'S CAPITAL: 12.22.17 - The World's Burden Over Jerusalem

The World's Burden Over Jerusalem - Todd Strandberg -

It can be a very difficult task to be a member of the anti-Israel alliance. When Donald Trump announced that he would recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move our embassy, the news media were stumbling over themselves trying to explain why this was such a terrible idea.

Jerusalem has Jews' roots that go back 3,000 years. It has been their capital since the nation was founded. The Palestinians have no historic limit to the city, and their name is just as bogus. The name Palestine was created by the Romans to mock the removal of the Jews from their land.

The news media's first response was that this was Trump being Trump. Because he is constantly portrayed as an ignorant man, this decision, they say, has been just another one of his many blunders. Never mind the fact that every President since Ronald Reagan has stated that Jerusalem is Israel's capital. Both Bill Clinton and George W. Bush made campaign pledges to move the embassy during their administration. Obama was the most anti-Israel US President in living memory and yet he stated in a 2008 campaign speech, "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."

It's interesting that previous Presidents are never called out for their failed promises on Jerusalem. The press always defaults to the need to recognize the complexities of the Arab/Israeli conflict. There is a point where the denial of reality reaches into the absurd. The Obama administration took a case all the way to the Supreme Court to block American citizens born in Jerusalem from listing Israel as their place of birth.

Another objection to Trump's action is it will violate his campaign promise not to get the U.S. into "stupid wars." By simply naming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Trump has somehow destabilized the entire Middle East? Critics said the decision was like tossing a hand grenade into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and warned it would light the Palestinian streets on fire. I see the reason why we should worry about upsetting the most unproductive people on the planet. If rioting in the streets of Gaza, that gives them less time to dig tunnels and built rockets.

The press also attacked the recognition of Jerusalem by saying it was just Trump fulfilling a promise he made to his voter base. Several news outlets have blamed evangelical Christians for advancing a pre-tribulationalism agenda. The news organizations have widely quoted Diana Butler Bass, an ultra-liberal, religious-studies Ph.D. at Duke University. She said that we're only interested in Bible prophecy - the bad kind - and that we want to bring about the Battle of Armageddon, the return of Jesus Christ, and vanquish all God's enemies.

The invasion of Israel is not going to be led by Christian armies. The Gog War is going to be manned by Arab nations. If Diana Bass believes in the Word of God, she should call out Turkey and Iran as the source of future conflicts. She doesn't believe the prophecies of the Bible, because they are at odds with her one-world view.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a strange fixation with Israel. Erdogan, who regards himself a champion of the Palestinian cause, labeled Israel as a "terrorist state" and called for a strong reaction to the move by Trump. Erdogan, whose country holds the rotating chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), will likely try to muster a tough statement. Because Muslim nations are heavily divided right now and unwilling to jeopardize the relationship with Washington, Erdogan can at best expect the issuance of a "boilerplate condemnation."

Iran is very vocal about its desire to destroy Israel. In its response to Trump's move, Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander, Qassem Soleimani, said his nation is ready to support Palestinian forces in the Gaza Strip. He also said other forces in the region are ready to defend the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. The mosque is Islam's third-holiest shrine and a frequent flashpoint for tensions between Israel and the Palestinians.

Donald Trump and Bible prophecy believers are not the problem here. The end-time wars are going to be caused by people who side with the Arabs in saying they have ownership of Jerusalem. A conflict most frequently erupts when people fail to realize the dangers they are creating. We are at the most dangerous point, because no reporter or politician is mindful of what God promised what would happen to those who challenge His people's ownership of His Holy City.

"The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it" (Zech 12: 1-3).

Rabbi sees more than coincidence in date of announcement

Donald Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as Israel's capital came on the exact same date on the Hebrew calendar that Israel's first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, 48 years earlier, just a year after Israel's founding, announced that it would be so.

Rabbi Benjamin Blech, professor of Talmud at Yeshiva University and an internationally recognized educator, religious leader and lecturer, did the calculation and found that both announcements were made on the Hebrew calendar date of Kislev 19 - Ben-Gurion's in 1949 and Trump's earlier this month.

"[W]hen I looked at the Hebrew calendar, I realized something far more profound than a political statement," Blech wrote in Aish.com. "Rabbinic scholars long ago taught us that with the end of prophecy, after the close of the Bible, God has another way in which to communicate with mankind. It is by way of the secret of time - the linkage of events occurring on exactly the same date that makes clear we are meant to understand divine messages. Coincidence, it's been famously said, is God's way of choosing to remain anonymous. In other words, it's God's way of testing our ability to concede the Almighty's role in directing the remarkable twists and turns of history."

Blech says he's certain President Trump did not know the significance of the day on which he chose to proclaim the historic change of America's policy with regard to the status of Jerusalem.

"The idea of the seemingly coincidental confluence of events on precisely the same day suggesting divine involvement has a precedent with another major moment in Jewish history - also linked to the month of Kislev as well as to Jerusalem," he adds.

Hanukkah began on Kislev 25 - another notable date in the history of Jerusalem.

"What makes this date so special?" Blech asks. "The Maccabees fought the battles but it was God who, behind the scenes, saw to it that success was finally achieved on the 25th of Kislev - the exact same day when construction of the second temple had commenced years before, as evidenced in the prophetic book of Haggai (Chapter 2:10, 15 and 18). And when the Syrian Greeks, in their efforts to eradicate Judaism, defiled the temple with idols, pagan sacrifices were not offered in the temple until - yes, you guessed it - the 25th of Kislev" (I Maccabees 1: 54-59).

Blech says the message of that date is reflected in the prophet Isaiah's vision for universal peace, which appears prominently on a wall outside of the United Nations: "He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore."

"That, too, I believe was the message of the 19th of Kislev" this month, he wrote.

Trump Prophetically Enlightened? - Terry James - http://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/

Presidents of the recent past have made statements that I recall as having Bible prophecy in view. I haven't researched to find these statements in their exact verbiage, but they were made and could be rather easily found with today's search engines.

I remember that Jimmy Carter referred to the Holy Land as having biblical and historical importance according to Israel's prophets. Ronald Reagan sometimes would refer to the Second Coming of Christ and the reality of Armageddon. Bill Clinton once said that his pastor, Dr. W. O. Vaught, told him when Clinton was governor of Arkansas that if Bill ever became president, he had better treat Israel according to Genesis 12. -This, regarding the blessings or cursing to be given by the Lord, Himself, depending upon whether one blessed or cursed Israel.

President Donald Trump, in talking about his decision declaring Jerusalem as Israel's eternal capital, and announcing he will move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, said something of profound significance, in my view. He announced a number of important reasons for his decision. Then he said: "...It is reality, And, its the right thing to do."

One must wonder how much of this president's declaring Israel's eternal capital and moving the embassy there is based upon true understanding of why it's "the right thing to do."

A considerable amount of the criticism I've heard about Trump's decision comes from a specific, leftist diatribe. These say it's the crazy evangelical Zionists who base Israel's right to the land they "occupy" upon the Bible. The word "Bible" is dripping with vitriol, even when read rather than heard. It's like they are saying"...the Bible!...Ugh!"

Trump is listening to the Bible thumpers and doing it for their votes. That is the rant. Yet, the following Bible truth is exactly what makes Mr. Trump's decision to declare Israel's capital Jerusalem and move the American Embassy there the "right thing to do."

Jerusalem, is, in fact, chosen by the Lord of Heaven to be at the center of His chosen land for His chosen people:

But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel. Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel. But the LORD said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart: Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name. The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel. And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, that he made with the children of Israel. (2 Chronicles 6:6-11)

Almost every leader on the world stage at present is against the decision. Even our closest allies, like British Prime Minister Theresa May, are adamantly against the declaration and the move. Yet this president is unmoved. He seems determined to carry out the promise that presidents preceding him didn't have the political will or courage to honor. -That of proving America's commitment to declaring Jerusalem Israel's capital by moving the embassy there from Tel Aviv.

Trump is one who has proven that he keeps promises, even bucking the heavy resistance of opposition from outside his own political party and from within. He forges ahead, despite the world's opposition to this decision. He doesn't wither under the fire of the fanaticism of the Islamic world that rages with hatred for Israel.

It is not possible for me to know for certain, but I strongly suspect that Christian counsel from people such as Dr. Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, have made it known to the president the truth about Israel from God's perspective. Thankfully, Mr. Trump has wisely listened to such counsel, it appears. America stands in much better stead with the Almighty with this fulfilled, presidential promise.
Turkey's Erdogan claims Jerusalem as Palestinian capital - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com --- YEAH RIGHT!!!

Turkey's "president" Tayyip Erdogan called for an Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in the wake of President Donald Trump's announcement recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and his intentions to move the US Embassy to the holy city. After the summit held last Wednesday some 50 Arab nations issued a declaration that Washington was withdrawing from its role "as sponsor of peace" in the Middle East. On Sunday, Erdogan announced that he intended to move Turkey's Embassy to East Jerusalem and recognize the city the capital of Palestine. He said, "Allah willing, the day is close when officially, with Allah's permission, we will open our embassy there."

Jerusalem was designated by Mohammad as Islam's third holiest site behind Mecca and Medina. Jerusalem, however, had ben the spiritual center of God's people thousands of years before Mohammad. Jewish tradition recalls that the dust of Moriah (the mountain range on which Jerusalem sits) was used to create Adam; it was on Mt Moriah that Adam is said to have first offered sacrifice to God. After the flood, Jewish tradition also tells us that Noah's son Shem established a school to study Torah, calling it Shelem. Later, in Genesis 22:14a, "Abraham called the name of that place Yehovah Yireh." This was the mountain Zion, referred to in Genesis 22:14b as "the mount of the Lord." The two names were combined to form Jerusalem. This is also the site of the future Jewish temple and the city of the crucifixion of Christ.

Just as Islam usurps the story of Isaac by replacing him with Ishmael, Islam is usurping Jerusalem from the Jewish people. In fact, nearly every Jewish and Christian holy site in Israel is contested by Islam. In most instances, there is an attempt by Islam to erase any trace of Jewish or Christian history and replace it with some sort of Islamic tale of possession. Islam's goal is one state, one religion, one law-Islam and Sharia Law. That is the only peace of Islam. Psalm 122:6 says, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you." The peace of Jerusalem is a decidedly different peace than the peace of Islam.

Erdogan's interest in Jerusalem and the "Palestinian cause" are linked to prophecy. Noah's grandsons from Japheth-Gomer, Magog, Meshech, Tubal are specifically mentioned in the end time prophecy of Ezekiel 38 as part of a coalition led by Gog of Magog against Israel. All these nations are located in what is now modern Turkey. As the path to the Ezekiel 38 prophecy unfolds, Turkey will become a leader of Arab nations, even so much that Iran will submit and join up to come against Israel in the end of days. It appears that President Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has been a catalyst to the movement of prophecy. Erdogan is playing his part as well.

While the UN voted, Jerusalem's fate was determined in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi -
https://www.debka.com/un-voted-jerusalems-fate-determined-riyadh-abu-dhabi/

At UN Center in New York, a resolution condemning Donald Trump for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital won a 128 majority of 193 member-states at the General Assembly, with 9 votes against, 25 abstentions and 21 absentees on Thursday, Dec. 21. This was a less than satisfactory outcome for the Palestinians, who had expected their usual success in sweeping the international board. The Trump administration fought back by threatening to hit opponents in the pocket and Ambassador Nikki Haley's powerful eloquence did the rest.

DEBKAfile's sources noticed, however, that, although the Palestinians had defined this vote as "fateful" for Jerusalem, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was conspicuously absent from his delegation's corner. DEBKAfile's sources picked him up 11,000 kilometers away at the Abu Dhabi palace of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed (MbZ). Instead of collecting international pats on the back for the majority UN vote, he had been forced to endure a dressing-down from one of the most powerful and wealthy Arab leaders, who told him in no uncertain terms: The international struggle for Jerusalem is no doubt important and the UAE will of course be behind you. But first, you must stop beating on Donald Trump's Jerusalem policy as though it is a declaration of war. Furthermore, Sheikh bin Zayed insisted, you had better break off ties this instant with Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish president, and distance yourselves from his anti-American abuse.

Abbas had been summoned to Riyadh the day before, where he was given an audience with King Salman. But before he was out of the palace door, Saudi Crown Prince Muhammed bin Salman gave him a bawling out which presaged the one he received in Abu Dhabi. Both Arab rulers made it abundantly clear to Mahmoud Abbas that to win their support on Jerusalem, he will have to back away fast from the front he has opened up with Erdogan against President Trump and the United States. The fate of Jerusalem was therefore determined Thursday in the Arabian Gulf region rather than New York where the UN vote was little more than a formality.

The world vs the burdensome stone - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

There is a tremendous end time prophecy in Zechariah 12:2-9 where the Lord says, "Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it...And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." While Jerusalem and Judah are currently not under siege, on Thursday the world may have witnessed how this prophecy can quickly play out.

The world has been in an uproar since President Donald Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the US embassy there. In response, the United Nations Security Council voted to denounce the US action, but the US vetoed the vote. The UN then held a special session denouncing the US designation and "demanded" that all countries comply with the UN sentiment that Jerusalem "is a final status issue to be resolved through regulations in line with relevant UN resolutions." The "demand" resolution passed 128 to 9 with 35 abstentions. The eight nations joining the US were: Togo, Guatemala, Nauru, Palau, Micronesia, Marshall Islands and Honduras.

Turkey's "president" Tayyip Erdogan, called an Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in the wake of Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. After the summit held last Wednesday some 50 Arab nations issued a declaration that Washington was withdrawing from its role "as sponsor of peace" in the Middle East. On Sunday , Erdogan announced that he intended to move Turkey's Embassy to East Jerusalem and recognize the city the capital of Palestine. He said, "Allah willing, the day is close when officially, with Allah's permission, we will open our embassy there." The UN resolution, which referred to parts of Israel as Occupied Palestinian Territory, didn't mention Erdogan's declaration.

Even America's strongest allies, and countries where your tax dollars fund billions worth of projects, voted with the UN and terrorist interests in snubbing Trump's scripturally-based recognition of Jerusalem as the physical and spiritual capital of Israel. While the resolution has no teeth and cannot be enforced, it is easy to see how quickly Jerusalem can become a burdensome stone for all the nations on earth. One simple action of recognizing the historical capital of Israel has sent the Middle East ablaze with vitriolic rhetoric and violence. In wake of Chanukah, let us remember Psalm 122:6, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love you." The world is surely against her.
