WORLD AT WAR: 11.2.19 - The Baghdadi saga-sordid, prophetic, ongoing

The Baghdadi saga-sordid, prophetic, ongoing - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

President Donald Trump announced over the weekend that ISIS founder abu Bakr al-Baghdadi went to his self-inflicted death a whimpering, crying coward pursued by American Special Forces. But there is a lot more to the Baghdadi story that you may not know, including a brush with the prophetic. al-Baghdadi claimed to be a descendent of Mohammad. He was born in Samarra, Iraq, home of the al Askari Mosque, housing the 10th and 11th Imams and where the 12th Imam, the Mahdi, went into occultation, according to Islamic myth. This was once part of the Assyrian Empire and al-Baghdadi declared himself the Caliph, was taking spoil and threatening Israel. Keep reading and you will know the rest of the story.

End time prophecy is full of foreshadowing, partial fulfillments and precursors. Throughout history, there has been rise and fall of those who were types of the end time apocalyptic figure--what many Christians call the "antichrist," what Holy Scripture calls the "beast" or, more specifically, the "Assyrian." This antichrist figure is alluded to as the Assyrian in Isaiah 10:5,10:24,14:25, 19:23, 30:31, 31:8, Micah 5:5-6, and Hosea 11:5. Ezekiel refers to him as Gog, chief Prince of Magog. The Lord speaks of the Assyrian or Gog in Ezekiel 38:17, "Art you he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring ye against them?"

Ancient Samarra was re-founded by the Assyrian King Sennacherib, who is described in Isaiah 10 as a type of the antichrist and whose army was destroyed by the Angel of the Lord when it came against Judah and Jerusalem (2 Kings 19, 2 Chronicles 32). Given al-Baghdadi's background and what he did to anyone who got into his way-torturing and killing Christians-and how he swept through the Middle East, he may well have been a type and shadow of the end time Beast (antichrist). Some news stories are discussing that none of the Democratic Party leadership has praised Trump or the American troops for bringing an end to al-Baghdadi. Is it because they hate Trump, or is there more to the story?

The Washington Post's lead story December 1, 2015 was about how the US was supplying military aid to the Islamic State (ISIS), reporting: "Iraqi fighters say they have all seen the videos purportedly showing U.S. helicopters airdropping weapons to the militants, and many claim they have friends and relatives who have witnessed similar instances of collusion. Ordinary people also have seen the videos, heard the stories and reached the same conclusion...The United States is supporting the Islamic State..." In September 2013, the UK Telegraph reported that Senator John McCain (R-Az) received assurances from the US "president" that a 50-man cell, "believed to have been trained by US special forces in Jordan," was deploying into Syria. That US "president" was complicit in the birth of ISIS.

In June 2014, Aaron Klein of WorldNetDaily, whose sources in the Middle East consistently provide solid information, reported that Jordanian officials said "dozens of ISIS members were trained at the time as part of covert aid to the insurgents targeting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. The Jordanian officials said all ISIS members who received U.S. training to fight in Syria were first vetted for any links to extremist groups like al-Qaida." This account was confirmed independently by Der Spiegel and the UK Guardian. Released in 2009 by the US "president's" closing of an Iraqi prison, the ISIS leader Abu Duaa, now known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, transformed al Qaeda in Iraq into the Islamic State. As you can see, there is a lot more to this story-sordid politics, hidden agendas, and prophecy in layers moving forward.

The Mask is Off: Lebanon is Hezbollah - By Dr. Mordechai Kedar - www.breakingisraelnews.com

I have some news: There has been no state of Lebanon for some time now. The entity to the north of Israel is nothing but a mask covering up the bitter reality: Lebanon belongs to Hezbollah. It is ruled by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, whose agenda is dictated by Tehran. Hezbollah's army is stronger than the official Lebanese army, and the country's economy is designed to serve Nasrallah's goals.

The Lebanese parliament, government, president and all other state institutions are nothing more than a facade for players directed by Nasrallah, who also decides what they will be paid for "good behavior," and whether his collaborators can benefit from the corruption that is running rampant in Lebanon.

The public is well aware of the situation, and is furious about it. Two weeks ago, people took to the streets in Lebanon to protest against "corruption" and demand that the government resign. The unifying slogan has been "everyone-as in, everyone," meaning get rid of all the ministers because they are all corrupt, including the ministers that work for Hezbollah.
Nasrallah and his Iranian sponsors are afraid that the mask will slip, exposing the country's true face-that of Hezbollah-to the world. If that happens, the world will stop selling weapons to the Lebanese army ("we have to strengthen the Lebanese army for the challenges facing it," say French weapons manufacturers and others) and stop lending the country money that just goes to support the thieving regime Hezbollah has put in place.

In a speech last Friday that lasted over an hour, Nasrallah warned the citizens of Lebanon against anarchy, warning that if the protests got out of control, they would meet "active intervention" (meaning, forcible dispersal) from members of the "resistance" (Hezbollah).

On Tuesday, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri resigned, along with the rest of the government, including Hezbollah ministers-meaning the demonstrators' first demand has been met. Their second demand is to appoint a government of non-party-affiliated experts to run the country.

It appears that Nasrallah won't object to the idea, if only to keep the mask on. He will, however, make sure that the "experts" will do what he tells them to. That way he can play for time-but the public could take to the streets again if they realize they were fooled.

Hariri's resignation and the fall of the Lebanese government is the first crack in the mask, and Nasrallah will now hunker down and start working assiduously to breathe life into state institutions so that they resume functioning and keep supplying him with cover as in the past. He doesn't have an easy task ahead of him, because the protesters are as sick of Nasrallah as they are of his corrupt lackeys.

The sense of togetherness that has blossomed in the nation's squares, the "festival" that has gone on for two weeks already, the major role the women of Lebanon are playing in the protests, the national flags with their stylized cedar trees and the slogans being shouted are all signs that the genie is out of the bottle, and at this stage is refusing to go back in.

If, heaven forbid, a few dozen of the protesters were killed, that might be the final nail in the coffin. Or it might not. Nasrallah is sweating bullets, that's for sure.

What is happening politically, military, and geopolitically in Syria today is simply astounding and has astonishing Bible prophecy implications. For some time now, Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has been a puppet leader, and three countries have bullied their way into Syria and now have a strong political and military presence.

These three countries are Russia, Turkey, and Iran. I think it's important to examine the leaders of these three countries and, specifically, why they seek religious, political, and economic influence in Syria.

Vladimir Putin, Russia

Russia began airstrikes in Syria in the fall of 2015, positioning itself as assisting in the fight against the improbable rise of Islamic State. But don't be fooled; Russia's insertion into the Middle East has never been about protecting Syria but, rather, about two specific goals that Putin has been coveting all of his leadership years.

The first Russian strategic goal in occupying part of Syria is regaining recognition as a global power instead of the belittling assertion as a regional power by the United States and her allies. Because the United States has established a policy to withdraw troops from Syria, Russia is more than willing to step into the vacuum created by U.S. withdrawal and act as a diplomat between the Kurds and Turkey's armed forces. Just last week Putin took diplomatic credit for a ceasefire between Turkey and the Kurds in northern Syria.

Make no mistake about it; Putin has an unquenchable desire for Russia to be seen as the leader in global political power. There is no place better to gain significant political credibility than in engaging peace processes in the Middle East.

The second Russian goal by being in Syria lies in the need to reassert herself as a global economic power through control of additional oil and natural gas resources. If you are a Bible prophecy student, you know that Israel has recently discovered a vast cache of oil and natural gas resources that Benjamin Netanyahu called a gift from God.

Russia's primary interests in Syria are not to help the Syrian people, but to reestablish a global power perception and to get closer to newly discovered oil and gas in Israel.

Recep Erdogan, Turkey

In a recent move that made most people pause, President Trump pulled 50 specialized American soldiers out of Northern Syria and gave Turkish President Recep Erdogan to protect and enforce the Turkish/Syrian border.

Without hesitation, Erdogan invaded the part of the Kurdish-held northern border on the Syrian side to eradicate terrorists who have killed thousands and thousands of Turkish people over the past decade. In effect, Erdogan felt compelled to clean up the border it shares with Syria to stop ethnic fighting - apart from the fighting the Kurds were involved with in supporting the Syrian anti-government forces.

In response, President Trump did threaten Erdogan with severe economic sanctions if Turkey does accelerate their military response beyond the immediate Turkey/Syria border.

We will wait to see what happens in northern Syria, but it remains clear that Turkey now has a high- stakes military presence in Syria on the pretense that she is protecting herself against terrorism coming out of northern Syria.

Hassan Rouhani, Iran

Iran's current leadership (President Hassan Rouhani) holds the same hostile position against the United States and Israel that its last president (Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) held. And that is the United States is the 'Great Satan' and Israel remains the 'little Satan.'

Iran feels very strongly that America's presence in Syria is an "occupation" and therefore their presence is required to protect Assad's failing Syrian government.

It is also commonly agreed that Iran funds the terrorist organization known as Hezbollah. By the way, Hezbollah means, literally, "The Party of Allah." It's important to know that Hezbollah acts as a proxy of Iran and has an active mission to wipe Israel off the face of the map.

While Iran feigns support for the Syrian government to help in its civil war, her primary interests in Syria are to continue to financially support and religiously inspire Hezbollah in their pursuit to destroy Israel and to form a strong coalition with Putin to expunge United States presence in the Middle East, thus destabilizing the region.

As recently as 2018, Rouhani was quoted as saying, "In eastern Euphrates [where] it is mainly America's illegal interventions that are causing the problems ... one of our demands is for American forces to get out of Syria immediately."

Summary

Putin has a thirst for global power, and his eye is on Israel's natural gas and oil resources. Erdogan wants to protect the northern border he shares with Syria but has a thirsty relationship with Russia and Putin. Rouhani hates the United States and will destabilize the entire region in order to pull out U.S. troops. Iran also funds the terrorist group Hezbollah which wants not more than to annihilate Israel.

Implications - The Prophecy of Isaiah 17:1

"The burden against Damascus. 'Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.'"

Most, if not all of us who are passionate about Bible prophecy believe that Isaiah 17:1 will happen prior to the Tribulation Period and could very well be the genesis of the great invasion of Israel predicted in Ezekiel's prophecy in Ezekiel chapter 38.

One prophecy scholar that I trust in very much is Amir Tsarfati. Amir, in his recent Middle East Update, declares something we must all think about very seriously:

"My eyes as an Israeli are fixed on Damascus. My eyes as a believer are fixed on Damascus. My eyes as a Jewish believer and an Israeli are fixed on Damascus because I understand that, Biblically, Damascus is to fall, and to collapse, and to cease from being a city ... as Isaiah 17 says. And I understand also that such a thing might bring about a great war on Israel from the site of the three musketeers from the north: the Iranians, the Turks, and of course the Russians are already there. And their bankrupted allies - Sudan and Libya. So, we are watching all these things happen right now before our very eyes." - Amir Tsarfati, BeholdIsrael.com

If you want to know how close the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is - it is wise to keep your eyes on Syria, especially Damascus. And because of the presence of the three bully presidents of Russia, Turkey, and Iran, there is no telling how close we truly are to the end of days.
