Now it seems that a list of American cities is actively pursuing that ideology, with their memberships in the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, which is calling for vastnew restrictions on residents, including consumption of zero beef, zero dairy, zero private vehicles, and only three new clothing items per person per year. A report by Evita Duffy-Alfonso at The Federalist explains the new ideology. "All of these policy proposals appear even more unreasonable and illogical when we actually evaluate the data. According to the International Disaster Database, deaths relatedto extreme heat, floods, storms, and droughts have plummeted as C02 emissions have risen. The fossil fuel economy has provided billions of people with heating, air conditioning, weather warning systems, mass irrigation, and durable buildings. "Ultimately, the climate coalition's goals are inherently anti-human. People generally need meat and the protein it provides to flourish. Banning meat and dairy, restrictingcalories, genetically altering the human body, and impoverishing the masses will hurt the planet and people. More likely than not, it will do more than hurt people -- it will kill many of them." The report identified the American cities that are part of the "C40" organization as Austin, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia,Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. The report explained the group's "dystopian goals" are in a report called "The Future of Urban Consumption in a 1.5°C World." The bureaucracy is funded "largely funded by Democrat billionaire Michael Bloomberg" and actually includes nearly 100 cities worldwide. The report claims the group "does not advocate" for adoption of the schemes, but they are included to give "a set of reference points..." The Federalist explained, however, that likely was included "in the case of pushback," because the report also specifically states its "target." "The target of eliminating meat, dairy, and private vehicles by 2030 is 'based on a future vision of resource-efficient production and extensive changes in consumer choices,'the report notes." And, The Federalist noted, just how far "climate dystopianism" has gone. WEF-linked "bioethicist" Dr. Matthew Liao even has suggested that humans be genetically modified to be allergic to meat, and to be smaller, to consumer fewer resources. A report at Redstate.com explained it was a move "that is just downright daffy, not to mention leaning hard into totalitarianism." Some have argued this is exactly what President Biden may be looking for with his recent comments about declaring a 'climate emergency'. Joe Biden said recently, among other incorrect statements, that he's "already" declared a national emergency over climate change. Then he explained that that was done "practically," not officially. But the concept of a Joe Biden giving unrestricted orders about the economy, people's lives and more is causing a high level of concern. He would be "basically declaring himself a dictator" for environmentalism, explained H. Sterling Burnett, a senior fellow at the Heartland Institute with a focus on climateissues. He told Just the News, "It gives him tremendous powers, that whole range of authority to dictate things in the economy and people's actions." He continued, "We saw him say, he'd done it... [or] virtually did it. Well, virtually isn't doing it, but that doesn't mean he won't do it in the future because he is talkingabout it." It was just days ago that Biden said in an interview his administration "already" had declared that emergency, and even CNN noted that was "incorrect." Burnett told the publication there's been a "constant drumbeat from environmentalists in the progressive wing of the party to do this." But the loud noises actually come from only a few people, and they are the extremists. "The people really pushing for a climate emergency are the fringe in the party. Everyone thinks that people want them to do something big about climate change, but poll afterpoll shows" Americans aren't up to making sacrifices for the ideology, he said. The report said in 2019 a poll showed one-third of voters unwilling to spend any of their own money fighting climate change. Another 15% would spend only $10 a month. This year, Pew Research said 54% of U.S. adults call climate change a major threat to the country's well-being, but that actually was lower than 2020. The report noted a warning from Tim Steward of U.S. Oil and Gas Association, who said, "If you grant the president's emergency powers to declare a climate emergency, it'sjust like COVID." It would allow "vast and unchecked authority to shut down everything from communications to infrastructure." Just the News reported that could include ending oil exports and offshore oil and gas leasing, and speeding up the "green transition." The report said even the "left-leaning Brennan Center for Justice" warned such powers "provide a ready mechanism for undermining democracy and entrenching political power."
