Here are some reasons to believe that is happening now. One, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: on June 7, 2021,U.S. Sec. of State Blinken said if Iran continues to violate its nuclear agreement, Iran could have enough enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in a matter of weeks. If Israel follows through on its threat to prevent this, Israel could be forced to act very soon. (Note:On June 14, 2021, Amir Tsarfati said, “If nothing is done in the next month or so, Iran will be nuclear.”) Two, more on the Battle of Gog and Magog: in recent years, Israelhas launched hundreds of strikes against enemy targets in Syria, but on June 9, 2021, Israel launched one of its largest strikes ever. In the early morning hours, Israel struck several major Iranian targets (some sources say at least 6) almost simultaneously all over Syria. The attacks were followed by several hours of secondary explosions, indicating that out-of-control fires continued to destroy stored missiles, rockets, powder, etc. The attacks will probably get more intense as Iran gets closer to developing nuclear weapons. Three, concerning Israel: on June 13, 2021, the government ofPrime Min. Netanyahu ended, and the government of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid began. The Bennett-Lapid government contains 8 political parties (some leftist, some non-religious, a minority of conservatives, and a group of Arabs with ties to the terroristgroup called the Muslim Brotherhood). Some conservative religious Jews say: •Israel’s new government is evil, dangerous, and it will end Zionism (the Jewish character of Israel; freedom of religion in Israel, etc.). •Bennett has lied because he promised during his campaign for office that he would not form a government with some of the political parties that hehas now joined forces with. •The Bennett-Lapid government will divide Israel because Arab leaders claim that Bennett and Lapid made concessions that will let them reclaim landin Israel, and Bennett and Lapid are not denying it. Prophecy teacher Amir Tsarfati said: •The new government is the beginning of the end of Israel as Christians have known it. •God is changing Israel for the worse. •Israel is no longer a democracy, no longer conservative, no longer united. •He believes the stage is being set for the fulfillment of major prophecies (perhaps Gog and Magog, a covenant, the Tribulation Period, an agreementto rebuild the Temple, etc.). Prophecy teacher J.D. Farag said: •Some suggest that the unprecedented four elections and now this new government may actually be the catalyst for the anti-Messiah to arrive on thescene under the banner of the vacuum of leadership. •Israel is ripe and ready for the Antichrist to come on the scene now like never before. Prime Min. Netanyahu said: •His party “will not rest until we get rid of this dangerous government.” •Bennett “is not a man who upholds his word. Neither are he and his ministers capable of standing up the U.S. and world nations – nor are they evenwilling to do so.” •“They are not fit to represent this country for a single day.” •“They must be celebrating in Tehran” (Iran). Israel needs the prayers and support of Christians as much as ever. Four, concerning world government: many highly respected Bibleprophecy teachers have long taught that U.S. power and influence must decline, and EU power and influence must increase. Pres. Biden is traveling overseas for separate meetings with the G-7, NATO, the EU, and Russia. Concerning Biden’s meeting with EU officials, it was reported that many EU officials believe it is time for the EU to start influencing U.S. policy instead of the U.S. influencingEU policy. According to one report, EU leaders plan to be less submissive to the U.S. and more likely to carve out a bigger role for the EU on the world stage. Five, also concerning the decline of America: on June 10, 2021,Rev. Michael Bresciani, editor of American Prophet, expressed his opinion about several issues that are well worth repeating. •Concerning whether black lives matter or not: Bresciani asked how can anyone say that black lives matter “when almost 4,000 black babies a day areaborted, and many thousands of black lives are lost yearly to black-on-black crime?” •Concerning worship of the Antichrist: Bresciani said, “Our children are being indoctrinated by liberalism, critical race theory, BLM, Antifa, communismand Godlessness – is it not all that hard to believe that they, our children, will be the ones who will soon worship this ‘beast’ scripture refers to as the antichrist? If you are thinking this is not possible – you are not thinking.” •Concerning the mixing of genes from humans with monkeys in China, the mixing of genes from humans with pigs in California, and the mixing of genesfrom humans with mice in Japan: Bresciani asked, “If God is displeased with the perverting of the sexes, what will his reaction be to the mixing of the species?” Bresciani believes these things are coming from depraved minds, and they signify that America is sinking into depravity. Six, Rev. Bresciani mentioned the world’s tallest moving statuecalled “The Giant.” “The Giant” is a 10-story tall digital art gallery with millions of pixels in the shape of a human, its head and arms move, it speaks and sings, changes its appearance everyhour to look like different famous people, and it will be displayed in 21 cities in 2021. Concerning this statue: Bresciani quotes what the Bible says about the statue of Antichrist. “And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image ofthe beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed” (Rev 13:15). Bresciani is not saying “The Giant” is the statue of the Antichrist, but he is saying that the creation of a statue that looks like the Antichrist and speaks is no longerin doubt. This writer believes that God is showing the world pictures or shadows of things in the Book of Revelation, and the coming fulfillment of those prophecies is not in doubt. Seven, in case anyone doubts that world leaders are in the processof establishing a world government, here is this writer’s understanding of some of what G-7 members agreed to in writing on June 13, 2021. •Work with the G-20 to explore ways to strengthen accountability, increase the tracking and allocation of global health security financing, and establisha Global Health Threats Council (use Covid-19 vaccinations to track people’s health, etc.). •Reform the World Trade Organization (WTO) to make it more resilient and responsive to the needs of global citizens (citizens of the world, not citizensof nations). •Push a global tax system to improve the global economy, the prosperity and wellbeing of all people (wealth redistribution), to uphold the commongood (world government) and our shared values (world religion). •Maintain its commitment to international cooperation, multilateralism and an open, resilient, rules-based world order (world government). •Tackle racism in all forms and violence and discrimination against LGBQTI+ populations (oppose those that hold Christian values). •Reaffirm its commitment to the Paris Climate Accords (an agreement that some say surrenders the sovereignty of nations) and strengthen and speedup its implementation (push nations to act faster and more aggressively; speed up world government; understand that the existing UN goal is to have it up and running by 2030 and the G-7 wants to speed things up). Vaccinate at least 60% of the global populationby 2022 and recognize that extensive immunization is a global public good (make forced vaccination a global law for the benefit of world government). •Ensure that Iran will never build a nuclear weapon (force a nation to obey world law). The Holy Spirit is the only One that can restrain the coming world government and world religion, but people need to know what is coming and truly accept Jesus as theirLord and Saviour before the globalists bring in their world government and world religion. Eight, for whatever it is worth, on June 14, 2021, PopulistPress reported, “The truth is coming out. I think we all expect this as Biden is going downhill fast!” “Trudeau [Pres. of France] overheard telling staffers he expects Kamala Harris to be President by the end of 2022 per W.H. official attending G7.” (This comment was originallyposted on Twitter on June 14, 2021, by political activist and news correspondent Jack Posobiec.) Nine, concerning vaccinations for Covid-19: •On June 14, 2021, LifeSiteNews reported that “The vaccine advisory committee of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will convenean emergency meeting this week to discuss heart-related side effects possibly linked to Covid-19 vaccines.” •The same report said, “Johnson & Johnson’s jab again was dragged into controversy last week when the FDA ordered the company to discard 60 millionCOVID-19 vaccine doses, citing contamination risks.” Finally, are you Rapture Ready? If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). The dry period has lasted so long, it has been given therank of “Mega-Drought.” A return to normal moisture levels would require months of heavy rainfall. According to The Weather Channel, 89% of the Western U.S. is experiencing drought conditions. More than half — about 55% — of the West is experiencing the highest levelsof “extreme” and exceptional” drought. The state of North Dakota is in the second-worst level of drought, and ranchers are auctioning off their cattle by the thousands. “Normally this time of the year, we’re probably looking at 400-600 head, and a lot of times would be every other week,” said former auctioneer Ron Torgerson. Recently, more than 4,200 head of cattle were sold at Rugby Livestock and Auction during a two-day sale. Needless to say, ranchers in North Dakota don’t want to get ridof their cattle, but the drought has pushed prices for hay and corn so high that many of them simply have no choice. Feeder Cattle prices have declined as herds are being sent to the slaughterhouse. As cattle herds shrink all over the western half of the country, beef prices will movesignificantly higher a few months down the road. Record heat during the past few weeks has yielded no shortage of horror stories. Almond growers have lost whole orchards, and 17 million endangered salmon are being shippedto the sea because rivers are too hot to navigate. Meanwhile, the drought continues to push the water level in Lake Mead into the danger zone. According to CBS News, Lake Mead has hit the “lowest level ever recorded.” Sincemost Western states get nearly zero amounts of rain during the summer, Lake Mead will continue to dry up for several months. Formed in 1937 by the construction of the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the U.S. The reservoir supplies water to 25 million people in Los Angeles, SanDiego, Tucson and Las Vegas, per Reuters. Lake Mead has not been full since 2000, with water levels falling 140 vertical feet since then, and it is currently at just 36 percent of capacity. The ability to produce electrical power at Hoover Dam has become a concern. Lake Mead has dropped so much that it has cut the dam’s hydropower output by nearly 25%. At somepoint, the dam could stop producing electricity altogether. For the first time ever, the federal government is expected to declare a water shortage on the lower Colorado River later this summer. That will force automatic cuts tothe water supply for Nevada and Arizona starting in 2022. Homeowners have higher priority and, at first, won’t feel the pain as badly as farmers will. Dan Thelander is a second-generation family farmer in Arizona’s Pinal County. The water to grow his corn and alfalfa fields comes from Lake Mead. “If we don’t have irrigationwater, we can’t farm,” he said. “So, next year, we are going to get about 25% less water; [this] means we’re going to have to fallow or not plant 25% of our land.” Unless something changes, Thelander and other farmers in the region could potentially have all water cut off in 2023. That is just two years away. Farmers in California are in far worse shape. Some have already been informed that they will not be getting any water allocated to them at all here in 2021. It is beingprojected that farmers in the state will not grow anything on 500,000 acres this year; that is really bad news because California grows more than a third of our vegetables and two-thirds of our fruits and nuts. California’s groundwater situation is another factor that is putting pressure on food production. For decades, groundwater was pumped with no statewide limits. As the waterlevel dropped, farmers have been drilling deeper wells to suck out more water to plant. We are now at a point where the groundwater levels are so low, many fields cannot be planted without access to surface water. As I look back over the past decade, there has not been a single year that did not have a major disaster. Judging from 2020 and 2021, it now appears we are going to havemulti disasters for any given future year. Since the tribulation hour will likely have monthly disasters, the rapture must be very near. “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28). Darkness or Light

Darkness or Light - Nathele Graham - twotug@embarqmail.com "The night is far spent the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day;not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying." Romans 13:12-13. We take many things for granted that are, in reality, blessings from God. Take light, for instance. We assume that the sun will come up every morning, and warm the earth,help plants grow, and allow us to see any obstacles that might trip us. It will set in the evening and darkness will come over the earth, and with it, coolness and the lesser light of the moon and the stars. The moon is only a reflection of the sun’s light.If you’re blessed to live where the artificial lights of the world don’t cover them, you can see millions of stars that glitter in the darkness. What a beautiful sight to see. Darkness does have a certain kind of beauty, unless you’re referring to the darknessof Satan. Darkness is used to describe the evil works of the devil, but the glorious works of God are described as light. The Apostle John wrote much about Jesus being the light of the world. After stating that Jesus is the Creator of all things, John writess “In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:4-5. People who choose to follow the darkness of Satan cannot understand the Light of God. It’s hard to wrap our minds around it, but light was the first thing Jesus spoke into existence, even before He created the sun, moon, or stars. “In the beginning God createdthe heaven and the eath. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:1-2. God created the heaven and earth, but all was dark until God spoke “AndGod said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3. The Hebrew word here is “owr” which is the light itself, not the thing from which it’s emitted. There had to be light before anything could survive. “And God saw the light, that it was good:and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day and darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” Genesis 1:4-5. It’s important to understand Genesis in order to understand that there was no big bang,and no evolutionary cosmic goo that somehow became life in its many forms. It wasn’t until the fourth day that God spoke the sun and moon into being. “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night;and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years: and let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser lightto rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening andthe morning were the fourth day.” Genesis 1:14-19. On this fourth day, God created the sun, moon, and stars. Light had already been spoken into being, but now it was contained and set on a rotation of rising and setting. The world is a very dark place without light. Satan is ruler of the evil done in darkness. Jesus is the Light of the World, but Satan is the god of this world. Those whofollow Satan cannot understand light "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil." John 3:19. The word for darkness is the Greek word “skotos” which metaphoricallymeans “of ignorance respecting divine things and human duties, and the accompanying ungodliness and immorality, together with their consequent misery in hell”. It’s much better to embrace the light of Jesus and not face the misery that results from sin thatmakes life miserable. The disease sin brings is not worth stumbling around in darkness. I’ve never been in jail, but people I know who have spent time there don’t want to go back. The sin wasn’t worth the price paid. Yet, the darkness has a stronghold uponthe sinner, the darkness engulfs them. “The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is inthee be not darkness." Luke 11:34-35. Various translations render the word “single” as “good” “healthy, and “clear”. Darkness will always cause you to stumble and fall. Light extinguishes the darkness, even a spark in the darkness shines bright. Remember, Jesus is the Light of the world, and His light shines through those of us who callourselves Christians. "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12. Following Jesus is following the light. He will light your pathway. FollowHis light and flee from the darkness of sin. Paul was a hateful man who was going to Damascus to arrest people who had placed their faith in Jesus Christ. His life was changed dramatically when he saw the light ofJesus. “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:” Acts 9:3. The darkness in which Paul lived was shattered by the light of God. Jesus gave Paul a mission. “But rise, and stand upon thy feet:for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in which I will appear unto thee; delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I sendthee, to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” Acts 26:16-18. Before Paul could fulfillthis directive from Jesus, he had to let go of the darkness. Paul did let go of his dark sin and faithfully spread the light of the Gospel to a dark world and today we benefit from his faithfulness. We need to follow His example in spreading the Light of Godto a dark world. When a person encounters Jesus, it may not be quite as dramatic as Paul’s encounter, but it is just as important, and it should be just as life changing. We need to stopliving in the darkness of sin and death. "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." John 12:46. Study Scripture, which is God’s word, and apply it to your life. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a lightunto my path.” Psalm 119:105. How can you follow the light if you don’t turn it on? The Holy Spirit lives in each and every Christian. He is our guide in following God’s instructions, but we can hinder him. “Quench not the Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5:19. Don’tlet the Light of God dim in your life. Stand firm on His word every day. It may not be easy to walk in the Light of the World, but it makes life easier than stumbling in the darkness. We all slip into the darkness at times. Sometimes we move away from the Light on purpose, but you can rest assured that there is always forgiveness for the truly repentantperson. "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the wholeworld." 1 John 2:1-2. The word “propitiation” is from the Greek word “hilasmos” which means “appeasing”. So, Jesus is the appeasement for our sins. Thank You, Jesus. The Apostle Paul, who was highly educated in his Jewish faith, understood that God created everything. "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shinedin our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." 2 Corinthians 4:6. This agrees with Genesis chapter 1 as well as with the Gospel of John chapter 1. Jesus Christ is the Creator of all that is and He calledlight into existence. He was the light before the sun, moon, and stars. He will be the Light throughout eternity, and He shines through us today. Let His light shine through your life. Turn away from darkness and walk in His light daily. In Romans, chapter1, Paul reveals the consequence of the sin of rejecting God as the Creator and we see that happening in the nations today as the darkness of sin is accepted as the standard of living. We are swiftly moving to the end of time. It’s hard to imagine a world wheredarkness rules even more than it does today. We can see the darkness of sin getting blacker, but today we still have the Light of the world in us. "Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darknesscome upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth." John 12:35. As Christians we need to walk in the light without wavering. We cannot waver in our walk, but must stay in God’s Light. Parents must teach children to follow the Lightinstead of the darkness of the world. It's important to teach our children, but it’s also important for parents to walk in the Light as examples to the children. If we quench the Light of God in us, we leave the world in the dark. The darkness of sin is growingbecause Christians aren’t following the Light and are allowing Satan’s dark lies to be taught to children in schools and allowing dark, satanic thoughts to permeate our children’s thinking through music, movies, and television. Satan’s dark evil is strongin the world of entertainment. Moses led the Israelites from captivity in Egypt and for 40 years wandering in the wilderness. When Moses died, Joshua led the Israelites in the battle for the land thatGod promised to Abraham. Satanic evil was thriving there and the battle was tough, but Joshua was a strong leader who followed God instead of the satanic gods of the Egyptians and the pagan inhabitants of the Promised Land. Joshua made his position clear. “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but a for me and my house, wewill serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15. Fathers, you need to take a stand and lead your family in the Light of God. Mothers, if the father in the household is weak and chooses darkness, you take a stand. As Christian parents, be sure you walk in the same Lightin which you want your children to walk. Don’t let the light that shines in you be darkness. When we accept Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection for salvation, our life needs to change from walking in darkness to walking in the Light. "Ye are all the childrenof light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness." 1 Thessalonians 5:5. Stop serving darkness. Like Joshua challenged the Israelites, choose this day whom ye will serve…demonic gods who fill you with darkness, or Jesus Christwho is the Light of the world. Christians are a new creation in Christ. All sin is forgiven when you surrender to Christ, so stop stumbling in the dark and come to the Light of the world and allow His light to outshine the darkness of Satan. Walk in His light. But, anyway, we’ll get back to that. But we, uh, you know….there’s a lot that, that is….it’s happening. I used to always…” (awkward silence) Amazing? Yes, indeed – but not for the usual reasons. It was amazing for its ineptness, its lack of cogency, and its public display of foolishness. There are reports of other world leaders snickering whenever the US Presidentspoke, and laughing when he mixed up countries’ names and bumbled through ordinary discussions and introductions. The folly does not stop there. Under this nation’s current leadership, illegal border crossings have soared to record heights. Under this new administration’s short watch, inflation alarms are surging,once plentiful energy resources have been cut off, Mideast tensions and conflicts have sharply escalated, Executive Orders have skyrocketed to unprecedented levels, and law enforcement applications and morale have utterly tanked. That’s just scratching thesurface of the rough news. We don’t even know what “infrastructure” is anymore. It has always been about roads, bridges, airports, railways, and seaports. You know – the “hard bones” transportationstuff. That was always the accepted definition on both sides of the aisle. Now, under the present leadership, it includes social programs, media aid, paid leave, ‘woke’ ideology, transgender initiatives, and childcare. Basically, “infrastructure” is now whatever assists a progressive-socialist agenda. What’s happening here is a real-time display of Prov. 29:2, “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.” The point of that verse is not a political statement. It’s a spiritual reminder. The truth of Prov. 29:2 is clear. It’s been manifest throughout human history whenever leaders choose to ignore God’s laws. Every time leaders color outside those lines,a nation suffers. What God cares about is how leadership conforms to His laws and complies with His principles of righteousness. Let me give you some examples. If a leadership is noted for its fraud and deception, then God does not approve of it (Lev. 19:11; Psalms 119:163; Prov. 12:22, Et Al). Whenan entire leadership actively advances lies – the situation is especially onerous to God. If a leadership supports a globalist ideal, then they are supporting an agenda that will ultimately be condemned (Rev. 13:2-7). This has already happened before; an ancientglobalist agenda was judged (Gen. 11:1-9). Even in the future Millennial Kingdom, a time of near perfection during Jesus Christ’s physical rule on earth, nations will still exist (Rev. 21:24). Individual nationsare a part of God’s design. What about law and order? When humans were created, law-based structures were implemented (Gen. 2:16-17). That has not changed. God still condones government and its primaryfunction to stop anarchy and preserve the law (Romans 13:1-7). During those times when “every man did what was right in his own eyes” (Deut. 12:8; Judges 17:6; Et Al.), things went very badly. Societies fell apart, and lawlessness abounded. These things arealways a symptom of evil. Justice is a big deal to God too. He hates it when a system of fair justice is suppressed, when there is one system of justice for one group of people and a different onefor another, and when proper accountability is stonewalled (Prov. 11:1, 17:15; Psalms 43:1; Isaiah 10:1; Et Al.). Dare I state the obvious? I will. God’s design is FOR two distinct genders, no more. God’s design is also FOR heterosexual relationships, FOR the nuclear family, FOR the protection of the unborn, FOR nationalborders, FOR moral behavior, and FOR capital punishment. All of these things find their foundation in God’s inerrant Word. When anyone – or any nation – embraces an alternate view, they are on the wrong side of God’s divine intentions. Here’s the nutshell. When people choose to reject God, to deny that He exists or that He made us and put us on this earth – or when people decide they want to define Godby their personal preferences – they put themselves in a very dangerous spot (Romans 1:20). When leaders and nations no longer tolerate truth – when they choose to censor facts, enforce acquiescence, or reinforce deception with intimidation – they have completelyabused their position. Violence and censorship are first cousins. Violence is a primitive effort to force compliance, just as censorship is a symptom of those who wish to deflect from their ownlack of integrity. These actions are regularly practiced by those who do not fear God, and who detest His laws and all who follow them. When this point is reached, foolishness is no longer a symptom – it’s a terminal condition. It’s obvious to everyone around. It’s even clear to the world at large. Oh – I know, those who arrive at this point won’t see it or believe it. They get angry when they’re made to look into a mirror. The fact is they “can’t handle the truth.” They exist in a sticky and suffocating delusion, and they vigorously defend where they choose to be. Contrary to the evidence, they imagine themselves to be forward-thinking, elite, insightful, erudite, knowing, and even wise (Romans 1:22). They may even imagine themselves to be President. However,growing trends of secularization and liberal ideology, as well as the erosion of a pro-Israel theology, are threatening to undermine this support, particularly among young evangelicals. A recent poll commissioned by two University of North Carolina at Pembroke professors--Mordechai Inbari and Kirill Bumin--showing a sharp drop in support for Israel amongthe younger set has raised some eyebrows. It found that young evangelical support for Israel had plunged to 33.6 percent from 69 percent in a 2018 poll. Those supporting the Palestinian side rose to 24.3 percent,up from 6 percent in 2018. Those supporting neither side stood at 42.2 percent. The poll focused on evangelicals ages 18 to 29, and was conducted between March 22 and April 2 by the Barna Group, a polling and research firm focusing on issues of faithand culture. It appears to be backed by earlier polls. Shibley Telhami, the Anwar Sadat Professor at the University of Maryland and director of the university's Critical Issues Poll,tells JNS that two polls he conducted in 2015 and 2018 also exhibited a widening gap in support for Israel between younger and older evangelicals. In 2015, 40 percent of young evangelicals said the United States should lean towards Israel, a number that droppedto 21 percent in 2018. Inbari and Bumin remain cautious in explaining the reasons, saying they're in the "preliminary stages" of their analysis. Still, they have their hypotheses, one of which is related to the racial makeup of evangelicals. "We discovered that race matters," says Bumin. "What we find is that African-Americans are about 34 or 36 percent less likely to support Israel than people from other ethnicgroups." Telhami says the demographic issue is "probably the biggest thing that's going on. Why? Because we know that the evangelical population that is most supportive of Israelis white evangelicals." Inbari and Bumin also note that progressive ideas relating to social and racial justice have made their way into evangelical churches, of which the Palestinian issue isa subset. Palestinians are "lumped" with a number of other "threatened minorities," whereas Israel is viewed as an aggressor, explains Bumin. 'This is a big shift' Another factor is theology. Evangelicals traditionally identify with premillennialism, which teaches that God's promise to the Jewish people remains in force and that thereis still a role for the Jewish people to play in the "end times," which includes a return to the Land of Israel. In contrast, amillennialism--sometimes referred to as supersessionism, or replacement theology--maintains that God's promise to the people of Israel has been fulfilled withthe advent of Jesus, and so they no longer have a role in the Divine plan. Inbari says there has been an "erosion" of premillennialism: "This is a big shift. We see this very, very clearly now already in two surveys." Bumin says they found that amillennialist pastors tend to be younger than premillennial ones. He surmises that young evangelicals gravitate towards the younger pastors."If I'm a young evangelical and I'm shopping around for which church I want to go to, I want to go to someone who ... kind of understands my situation." Bumin also says there is less focus on eschatology, the study of the "end times," in evangelical churches. "This is more anecdotal, but we are hearing this from multiplepastors and church leaders. ... They say that increasingly what their pastors are talking about is not the end times, but rather more mundane daily concerns of young evangelicals. And so if the focus shifts away from the discussion of eschatology ... the mentioningof Israel, the mentioning of the Jewish people becomes less frequent," he says. Bumin notes this is the case in megachurches, which are "not necessarily focused on eschatology or theology." According to the Hartford Institute for Religion Research's 2020 Megachurch Report, there are 1,750 mega-churches in America, defined as churches with regular attendanceof 2,000 or more. These mega-churches "tend to be far more supportive of the Palestinian people," says Bumin. Premillennialists also tend to "interpret Bible very literally," he says, with Inbari adding that "older evangelicals may be closer to a literal translation of the Bible,while younger evangelicals may take the Bible as a guideline or portrayal rather than literal rules." 'Poll is misleading, like many others' The new poll has been criticized by some precisely on the religiosity of those surveyed. Josh Reinstein, director of Israel's Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, tells JNS "the poll is misleading like the many others before it. The children of evangelicals area lot less religious than their parents. I believe that if the pollsters only asked people in that age group that go to church on Sundays, you would see a way higher show of support for Israel." Reinstein says that because evangelical theology holds that God's covenant with Abraham is everlasting, evangelicals are "by definition" pro-Israel. Pastor John Hagee, chairman and founder of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States, similarly tells JNS in connectionwith a recent split in the Southern Baptist Convention, "If you are a Bible-believing Christian, you will be a supporter of Israel. If you're not, you won't be. End of story." Is the poll representing the irreligious offspring of evangelicals, as Reinstein suggests? Does it simply show young evangelicals are less supportive of Israel? Or doesit reveal that young evangelicals are not only drifting from Israel, but from the Bible and traditional evangelicalism as well? Jim Fletcher, an independent researcher and writer on evangelical issues who spent 15 years in Christian book publishing, says it's the latter, and he isn't surprised bythe poll results. There has been a "mass exodus" of young evangelicals leaving church, he states, especially when they get to college. Bible study has been diluted, premillennial theology weakened, and social-justice issues have been injected into the church, he says, affirming much of what Inbari and Buminsuggest but also dismissing one of their most important hypotheses, relegating the racial demographics to almost a nonissue. Noting that some black leadership is very pro-Israel, he says, "I'm much more concerned about white evangelical leadership. That'sthe problem." 'Subtle' de-emphasis on the Bible He points to several key factors that have negatively impacted evangelicalism. One is the Church Growth Movement, sometimes called the seeker-sensitive movement, which began in the 1960s. "It's all the same concept. You're tailoring your church serviceto make the attendee comfortable," says Fletcher. "In essence, the model is you go out and you canvas the neighborhood, and you find out what people want in a church. Then you go do that." He says the movement was spearheaded by megachurch pastors like Bill Hybels and Rick Warren. He notes that Hybels and his wife are not Christian Zionists, and so lean towardsthe Palestinians. He says that, too, has been copied by their protégés. "It's been a problem as their church model multiplied; it just filtered down." The Church Growth model has several unintended consequences, says Fletcher, one of which is a "subtle" de-emphasis on the Bible. "When I was growing up in the evangelicalchurch--and I was born and raised Southern Baptist--we had congregational Bible reading, meaning a pastor would read scripture from the pulpit, and we would all follow along in our Bibles that we would bring to church," he relates. "Now what they call Bible study is often a Bible study created by and for the lead pastor. So, for example, with Rick Warren, you have his famous book, The Purpose DrivenLife. Well, [that] stepped in as a Bible-study substitute for actual Bible study. The end result is you're not going to get a comprehensive view of scripture. You're not going to understand, in the context of what we're talking about, Jewish history," explainsFletcher. He notes that another hallmark of such churches is they're nondenominational, drawing in people from many backgrounds. "You've got Baptists. You've got Assemblies of God.You've got Methodists. You've got some Presbyterians," he says. "If you are a pastor and you want to teach about Israel, if you want to teach about Jewish history, if you want to teach about Hebrew scriptures, you're going to have people in that congregationwho don't want to hear that, for whatever reason." He says the pastor isn't going to want to offend them because a) once offended, they'll leave, and that reduces church coffers; and b) it goes against the Church Growthcredo, which puts the congregants and their comfort first. Fletcher doesn't lay all the blame on the Church Growth Movement. He says liberal theology has been a "huge problem" in the last 30 years, filtering down from pastors tocongregations and Christian millennials. "Years ago, there was a Bible study developed in the United Methodist Church called 'Disciple Bible Study.' I was astonished when I went through these studies for the Old Testament at how much of it was relegated to myth. When you do that over time, especially in an entire denomination,you're going to wipe out any view that Jewish history is real. "So if Jewish history isn't all true, then a Christian millennial today can say, 'Well, then why is the Jewish claim to the Land of Israel stronger than the Palestiniansor anybody else?' And that is absolutely what's happened." Fletcher says 40 years ago, pastors and ministry leaders, such as Jerry Falwell Sr. and Adrian Rogers, who were personally pro-Israel, acted as "a kind of firewall." He expresses surprise that Hagee dismissed the problem, noting that 10 years ago, CUFI was the one warning of the danger: "If Hagee thinks there isn't a problem, he's wrong.We have a serious, serious problem with pro-Israel support in this country in churches." And, he adds, "we have a serious education problem in the evangelical church. Too many people just don't know a lot about any given subject. They're smart, but they're starvedfor information because their pastor is up there hawking his latest book from the pulpit on Sunday morning, instead of explaining serious issues." The poll does suggest a lack of basic knowledge about the Arab-Israeli conflict among young evangelicals. Even as it shows support for Israel dropping, more than 71 percentsaid "Jerusalem, in its entirety, should be the capital of the State of Israel, and its governance should not be shared with the Palestinians." Assuming a shift away from Israel, such a large number taking an anti-Palestinian position displays, at the veryleast, confusion on the subject. Fletcher dismisses the criticism, frequently heard in Israel, that the country has devoted too much attention to its evangelical supporters at the expense of others. Hesays the situation is the opposite. "I think Israel needs to establish an actual group that would engage with evangelicals 24/7. I think they don't do it enough." Fletcher would have found a more ready ear in the previous Israeli government. Former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer drew headlines when he told a MakorRishon conference in May that Israel should focus its public-relations outreach on evangelicals over U.S. Jews. Israel's new Foreign Minister Yair Lapid holds the reverse opinion, having warned for years that the Netanyahu administration had become too closeto the "conservative evangelical faction of the Republican Party." Fletcher's prescription is two-fold. He says Israel needs to come up with a "serious strategy beyond just bringing in tourists and engaging with big ministry heads. Theyneed to do grassroots work here in American churches." For evangelicals, they need to "get back to individual Bible study and branch out from there." He doesn't hold out much hope for changing the minds of ministry heads, butU.S. evangelicals "individually need to get into serious Bible study and serious study of these issues, such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict." Debtor’sGuilt By Hal Lindsey When I was in seminary, I borrowed money from a friend. In good faith, I gave him a date on which I expected to pay him back. But something unexpectedhappened, and I couldn’t pay when I said I would. I felt terrible. I felt like a deadbeat. I found myself avoiding my friend. And here’s the part that makes no sense but was very real. I felt anger toward him for not understanding my plight. It makes no sense because I hadn’teven tried to explain the situation, and he had not said a word about me being late. I thought about how I might approach him. When I thought through our imagined conversations, I thought about what it would be like if he raked me over the coals. That mademe even angrier at him, even though the conversations had all been confined to my own imagination. Fearing his disapproval — and feeling that I deserved disapproval — I stayed away from him. Then one day, I found myself in a situation where I couldnot avoid him. Confronted with the presence of my friend, I told him the truth. He didn’t shout at me or put me down. He was glad to be back in fellowship with me. Because of guilt, I had needlessly deprived myself of his friendship. That happens in our relationship with God. We sin. Then, foolishly, we try to hide it from God — even though we know that God knows everything. Becausewe feel unholy, we don’t want to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit into our lives. We don’t pray. We don’t read the Bible. Sometimes, we don’t even want to go to church, or be around Christian friends. Sin blocks our fellowship with God. We’re still in Christ, still headed for heaven, but our own feelings of guilt cause us to interrupt the flow ofpower from God into our lives. This works out great for Satan. He knows that God’s power is necessary for us to defeat sin. It becomes a vicious cycle. We sin, then we hide from the One who can help us defeat that sin. God knows that while still in these bodies, we are incapable of perfect obedience. He wants us to walk moment by moment depending on His Spirit. Butfailure to trust Him amplifies sin and puts us back into the vicious downward spiral. How do we defeat that vicious cycle? Go to Him. Warts and all, present yourself to Him. Confess your sin and claim His forgiveness. Then turn from your sin and trust Him again. In 1 John1:9, He promises, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” You might worry that you are not strong enough to turn from your sin. Maybe you worry that you don’t have the power to change. Good! Now you know whereyou stand. You can’t, but God can! He will give you power. But you need to make the first move. The power to live the Christian life comes from the Holy Spirit and from confidence in the knowledge that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead, and sitsin heaven at the right hand of the Father where He prays for us continually. In days like these, we need to walk in His power, and not be sidetracked by sin and the accompanying guilt. So, when you miss the mark, go to Him quickly.And learn to avoid sin by inviting the Holy Spirit into every part of your life. Live victoriously by trusting in Jesus, your Redeemer and Lord. The Grasping Evil – Terry James - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/ I preface this commentary by giving credit to my good friend and colleague, Bill Salus, for his recent email newsletter with the subject Top 20 Pre-Tribulation Prophecies. As usual, I found his analysis to be on the biblical mark—even considering my disagreement with his belief that Psalm 83 is a war involving Israel that precedes the Gog-Magogattack. As I’ve stated in that regard, he could well be right and I wrong on the matter. Bill gave some good news about the assurance Bible prophecy from the Pre-Trib perspective offers, followed by some bad news for nonbelievers. About the good news, he offers the following: The Church is: Saved from the wrath through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8–9). Delivered from the wrath to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10). Not appointed to the wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:7-10). Kept from the “hour of trial” of the Tribulation (Revelation 3:10–11) We are to comfort one another about the blessed hope of the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:18). About the troubling side, he says: The bad news is that believers have loved ones who are presently unsaved and at risk of being left behind to experience the most perilous seven years in all of post-Floodhistory. Bill then speaks to the attitude that some Christians have developed. The particular attitude he mentions is what I wish to address in this commentary. He states the following, paraphrasing the words of certain believers, then issuing precaution: “I DON’T CARE: ‘I’ll be Raptured, so why should I worry about such things that don’t concern me?’” I would encourage someone who has adopted this position to first realize that you may be here to endure some of the Pre-Tribulation prophecies. If you face off with oneor more of these powerful predictions, you will undoubtedly be forced to care! Therefore, be cautious not to get caught up in the trap of thinking that the rest of your days will be persecution free. Bill Salus’ words are well placed while we observe these darkening times. His admonition hearkens me back to a series of services we called “revival meetings.” I’ve mentionedthis a number of times before. I vividly remember sitting at our First Baptist Church in the mid-1970s. A short-in-stature evangelist was the speaker for those five days of meetings. Each night, he worea different colored leisure suit—lime green, day-glow orange, bright red, etc. Some of the readers here will remember those flamboyant garments. We joked about his flashy dress, but we didn’t joke about his messages. They were straight from the heart of God,it was progressively obvious as the week proceeded. The last night of the revival meeting, the evangelist made a prediction that sticks to the memory like rubber cement to two pieces of paper. He said, “I believe that before Christ calls the Church in the Rapture, this government in America will be reaching with powerfully evil fingers for the throats of Christians.Just as those fingers are about to close on the necks of believers, Christ will blow the trumpet.” He believed 100 percent in the imminence of Christ’s call to the Church, but he nonetheless issued that prediction. I’ve never forgotten it. There was no such virulent threat during that mid-’70s time. Such a thing was unthinkable. But here we are in 2021 and developments trending dramatically in the directionhe predicted are clearly in view. Our neighbors to the north in Canada are already starting to feel that icy grip, and that chilling grasp can be sensed even in our nation. As Bill Salus has admonished, we must not remain indifferent just because we know we will be kept from the most horrendous time to come. We must do all we can to fight those grasping, evil governmental fingers with prayer and with civil action as provided by the means our Founding Fathers provided under God’sgreat guidance. Most of all, we must carry forth with the Great Commission the Lord Jesus commanded just before lifting into the heavens. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever Ihave commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Now it's August Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com On June 1, New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman said that President Trump “has been telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstatedby August.” In reality, Haberman did not identify or qualify her “sources.” The previous deadline for Trump to be reinstated was June. Now it’s August. In a June 16 interview with Fox News commentator Sean Hannity, Trump said, “Shockingly, we were supposedto win easily at 64 million votes and we got 75 million votes and we didn’t win but let’s see what happens on that.” Now The Hill reports: “Thirty percent of Republican voters say they believe former President Trump will “likely” be reinstated to office thisyear, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.” The Hill on June 18 reported: “While a segment of the GOP has indicated support for the idea, the vast majority of voters across the political spectrum agree it’s unlikelythat Trump will return to office this year. Seventy percent of Republican respondents in the Hill-HarrisX poll said such a scenario is unlikely, along with 74 percent of independents and 87 percent of Democrats. Meanwhile, 26 percent of independent voterssaid it’s likely Trump will be reinstated while 13 percent of Democrats said the same.” In other words, just short of a third of Republicans and Independents believe Trump will be reinstated, and a little over 10% of Democrats feel the same way. Conspiracy theorists are now pointing to August for reinstatement of the President. The previous deadline has passed. The election recount investigations occurring in Georgia,Pennsylvania, Arizona and other states have not so far resulted in even the potential overturn of certifications of the electoral college in those states. The US Constitution provides for a process of determining a president IF the states do not certify thevote and cannot come to a conclusion as to a victor. In the 2020 election, irrespective of fraud, voting machine irregularities, dead people voting or otherwise, each state certified the results of their respective state’s election. There is no provision tooverturn an election beyond that certification. The states certifying the election results made the election legal, irrespective of how it illegally it may have been attained. There are people making money and a name for themselves on selling the false hope that somehow President Trump will be reinstated. Short of an outright miracle, Trump willnot be reinstated as predicted. This is a moving target designed to paralyze people from taking action to correct the problems before them. Christ said in Matthew 24:4, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” There are warnings throughout scripture about vainwords leading to deception and the snares that await. In April, it was June. In June, it is August. Time goes by and people think that someone is somehow going to change things. Trust in the Lord, not in man. Before they die, a lotof these birds are exhibiting very strange symptoms. Experts are telling us that in many cases birds are developing “crusty or puffy eyes”, and often they appear to go completely blind. In addition, quite a few of these dying birds lose their ability to staybalanced, and we are being told that some even seem to be having “seizures”. If scientists understood what was causing this to happen, that would be one thing. But at this point they have no idea why this is taking place, and that is quite alarming. So far, confirmed incidents of this strange phenomenon have been documented in Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Could it be possible that we are dealing with a “mystery disease” that started in one state and that has now spread to other surrounding states? Or is something else going on here? We are being told that “blue jays, common grackles and European starlings” are the most common birds that are being affected. But whatever is happening is not just limited to one species of birds, and I think that should be a red flag. If our best experts even had a decent working theory about why so many birds are dying, I probably would not have written this article. But at this point they are openlyadmitting that they have absolutely no idea why so many birds are suddenly dropping dead… “We’re experiencing an unusual amount of bird mortality this year,” said Kate Slankard, an avian biologist with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. “Wehave yet to figure out what the problem is. The condition seems to be pretty deadly.” In Kentucky, the bird deaths seem to have begun in late May. The following comes directly from the official website of the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources… In late May, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources began receiving reports of sick and dying birds with eye swelling and crusty discharge, as well as neurologicalsigns. Wildlife agencies in Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and West Virginia have reported similar problems. State wildlife agencies are working with diagnostic laboratories to investigate the cause of mortality. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has sent more than 20 samples for labtesting to the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study at the University of Georgia. More results are pending, but no definitive cause of death has been identified at this time. After testing 20 samples, they still have no idea what is going on. According to Slankard, “hundreds of birds” in her state have now become victims… “They’ll just sit still, often kind of shaking,” Slankard said. “It’s pretty safe to say that hundreds of birds in the state have had this problem.” But of course the truth is that we have no way of knowing how many birds have actually been affected. It could be thousands of birds in the state. It could be hundreds of thousands. We just don’t know, and Kentucky is just one of the states that has been hit. In Indiana, authorities tested for avian flu and West Nile virus, but those tests came back negative… Indiana wildlife officials said there have been suspicious deaths of blue jays, robins, northern cardinals and brown-headed cowbirds in five counties. James Brindle, spokesmanfor the state’s Department of Natural Resources, said birds there have tested negative for avian influenza and West Nile virus. One theory that is floating around is that these birds are ingesting large amounts of pesticides because of all the cicadas that they are eating. Some experts are flatly dismissing that theory because “the disease has also appeared in states where cicadas are not present”. But how can they be so sure that it is a disease if they have absolutely no idea why this is happening? I don’t think that we should jump to any conclusions that are not backed up by science. Obviously a lot more testing needs to be done. If it does turn out to be a disease that is causing this, is it a disease that can also spread to humans? Moving forward,that could be one of the most important questions that needs to be answered. Hopefully we can get some solid answers, because this is not the first time something like this has happened. Back in September, one expert said that it appeared that “hundredsof thousands” of birds were dropping dead in New Mexico… Wildlife experts in New Mexico say birds in the region are dropping dead in alarming numbers, potentially in the “hundreds of thousands.” “It appears to be an unprecedented and a very large number,” Martha Desmond, a professor at New Mexico State University’s department of fish, wildlife, and conservationecology, told NBC’s Albuquerque affiliate KOB. But whatever was causing those deaths to happen in New Mexico seems to have stopped. Is there any connection between that event and the deaths that are happening in the eastern half of the country now? I wish that I had the answer to that question. We live at a time when pesticides, high technology and other forms of human activity are having a greater impact on birds and animals than ever before. But we have alsoentered an era when I believe that great pestilences are going to become very common. Obviously something is killing all those birds, and hopefully scientists will have something solid to tell us very soon. With each passing day, our world is getting crazier, and so much is going wrong all around us. Many are hoping that 2020 and 2021 will just turn out to be anomalies, but I am entirely convinced that they are just the very small tip of a very large iceberg. In this article, I am goingto be discussing a couple of potential scenarios that would have been unimaginable to the vast majority of Americans just a few short years ago. Unfortunately, our world is now changing at a pace that is absolutely breathtaking, and many things that were once “unimaginable” could soon become reality. Let’s start by talking about the record-setting heat wave which is making the epic megadrought in the western half of the country even worse. Many western farmers plantedcrops this year hoping that weather conditions would eventually turn in their favor, but that has definitely not happened. In fact, at this point 88 percent of the West is experiencing at least some level of drought. 2021 has been the worst year of this multi-year megadrought so far, and last week was the worst week for this drought up to this point in 2021. Old temperature records wereshattered all over the West, and some areas were already seeing triple digits by 8 o’clock in the morning… The West is in the midst of a record-breaking heat wave this week, as all-time records were shattered and daily records broken in over a dozen states. Even by desert standards, the heat wave in the Southwest is atypical. On Thursday, the National Weather Service in Tucson tweeted that the city recorded a temperature of100 degrees at 8:14 a.m., the second earliest time in the day recorded since 1948. That is crazy. Can you imagine hitting triple digits before you have even finished your morning coffee? Summer had not even officially begun yet last week, and yet new all-time record highs were being established all over the place… Record-breaking temperatures spread from California to Montana this week. On thursday, the all-time high temperature was tied in Palm Springs, California at 123 degrees,breaking the previous June record of 122 degrees. Salt Lake City tied its all-time record high of 107 degrees. The old record was notably set in July — when temperatures are usually at their highest for the year in thatregion. This comes after daily record highs were broken Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in Salt Lake, each with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. We have never seen anything quite like this in the state of Utah. More than half of the state is in the highest level of drought, and thanks to dramatic water restrictions farmers are being forced to choose which of their crops will die… With drastic limits placed on what little water he has, Tom Favero said he and many farmers along this west side of Weber County were forced to watch some crops die. “We’veall made serious choices of what fields we can water and what we can’t,” Favero said. Another Utah farmer that lost a lot of corn and an entire field of barley said that it really “hurts” to see his hard work go to waste… Farmer Dean Martini pointed at one of his fields. “That corn there, where I can’t water, I don’t have the water. It makes me sick to see it go to heck like that.” With limits on amount and time, he said there wasn’t enough water flowing to make it across his fields. While some of the corn dried up, he had to let a whole field of barleygo too. “It hurts buddy. That hurts,” Martini said. Of course this is just the beginning. If this summer is as hot and as dry as they are projecting, we could see catastrophic crop failures all across the West. And that is really bad news, because the state of California alone produces more than a third of our vegetables and about two-thirds of our fruits and nuts. A few years ago, hardly anyone would have imagined that we would be facing a crisis of this magnitude in 2021, but here we are. Paleoclimatologist Kathleen Johnson is quite “worried” about what will happen this summer, and she is warning that this drought is shaping up to be the worst the region has experienced “in at least 1,200 years”… I’m worried about this summer – this doesn’t bode well, in terms of what we can expect with wildfire and the worsening drought. This current drought is potentially on trackto become the worst that we’ve seen in at least 1,200 years. Now I would like to shift gears. A few years ago, hardly anyone would have imagined that we would be facing a very serious computer chip shortage in 2021. In particular, the most sophisticated chips arereally in short supply, and what most people don’t realize is that “almost all” of them are made by a single company based in Taiwan… Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. chips are everywhere, though most consumers don’t know it. The company makes almost all of the world’s most sophisticated chips, and many of the simpler ones, too. They’re in billions of products with built-in electronics, includingiPhones, personal computers and cars—all without any obvious sign they came from TSMC, which does the manufacturing for better-known companies that design them, like Apple Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. Because manufacturing those chips is so exceedingly complicated, other companies can’t just plop down new factories and start pumping out their own chips. Business leadersin the U.S. are now planning new factories, but it could take quite a few years before they are up and running. So even under ideal conditions, the chip shortage will not be resolved for some time. But what happens if China invades Taiwan within the next several years? This is something that U.S. officials were warning about earlier this month… Concerns are growing in Washington over the possibility that China could try to invade Taiwan in the next few years. Top U.S. military officers have warned in recent months that Beijing might try to make the explosive move this decade, and recent saber rattling, including a Chinese militaryamphibious landing exercise near the island, is further raising the alarm. Can you imagine the chaos that it would cause for the global economy if the primary supply of advanced chips was suddenly cut off? According to the Wall Street Journal, TSMC currently makes “around 92% of the world’s most sophisticated chips”… Its technology is so advanced, Capital Economics said, that it now makes around 92% of the world’s most sophisticated chips, which have transistors that are less than one-thousandththe width of a human hair. Samsung Electronics Co. makes the rest. Most of the roughly 1.4 billion smartphone processors world-wide are made by TSMC. Without TSMC, the global economy as it is structured today would not be able to function. So the fact that China is being more aggressive than ever with Taiwan should deeply alarm all of us. For example, check out what happened just last week… China has flown 28 warplanes into Taiwan-controlled airspace, the biggest sortie of its kind since the Taiwanese government began publishing information about the frequentincursions last year. The flights are widely seen as part of an effort by Beijing to dial up pressure on Taiwan, a self-governed democracy of about 24 million people off the Chinese coast thatthe Chinese government considers a part of China. We should have never allowed ourselves to become so dependent on foreign chips, but we did. And now experts are telling us that the chip shortage will last into next year under the best of conditions… Dimitris Dotis, the Audi brand specialist at Audi Tysons Corner dealership in Virginia, summed up the situation to customers. “Almost all microchips that go into all newvehicles including Audi come from TSMC in Taiwan,” he wrote. “They expect bottlenecks in the supply chain to last through 2022.” Of course if China does decide to invade Taiwan, the U.S. military will respond, and that would mean no advanced chips for us for the foreseeable future. In this article, I have shared just two potential scenarios which could soon plunge us into unthinkable nightmares. Needless to say, there are many, many more crisis points that bear watching right now as well. We have reached such a critical moment in our history, and I expect global events to accelerate even more as we head into the second half of 2021. We live in a day and age, when the only seeming constant, is change. Medical breakthroughs and the general standard of living, have raisedlife expectancy to levels not seen in millennia. New technology and social media platforms are constantly emerging and evolving at an exponential rate. This accessibility is allowing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach those places missionaries either fearedto tread or couldn’t in years past. This letter itself will reach every continent in a matter of seconds, and the ability to translate it is unlike anything we’ve had since the days of Babel. Such is the open door we currently have, but this open door willnot remain open forever. The Bible is crystal clear on many things, one of which is that conditions on earth will go from bad, to worse, before they get fixed permanently by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. This is where Biblical Eschatology comes in. Eschatology (bible prophecy) is the doctrine on the study of last things. It is a Greek word that is broken into two parts, éschatos meaning "last" and -logy meaning "thestudy of." Bible prophecy is broken into two parts: things predicted and fulfilled, and things predicted and not yet fulfilled. Like the other major doctrines within the realm of Christian theology, eschatology is unique, in that it makes up nearly 1/3 ofthe Bible. J Barton Payne’s Encyclopedia of Bible Prophecy lists 1,239 prophecies in the Old Testament, and 578 prophecies in the New Testament for a total of 1,817. These prophecies encompass 8,352 verses (out of a total of 31,103 verses) to equal 27% ofScripture (1). See here (2) for a sampling of chapters and verses of the prophetic texts. Not only does eschatology make up such a large percentage, but it is distributed in such a way that it is in nearly every book of the Bible, from Genesis 3:15 to Revelation22:19 with the exceptions of Ezra, Philemon, and 3 John. In fact, the most prophesied event in all of Scripture is not Christ’s first coming, but His second by a factor of 8 to 1. Christ’s return is mentioned in 17 Old Testament books, and 23 of the 27 booksin the New. This means that in the New Testament alone, 1 out of every 30 verses teaches that Jesus is coming back to earth. Even Jesus referred to His own return 21 times. Facts and figures are fine, but you’re probably asking yourself, what does Bible prophecy have to do with me and my church? First and foremost, Churches of Christ used tostudy this…a lot. The abandonment of the prophetic scriptures is a semi-recent development that frankly, makes little sense (More on this a little later on). One of the unique characteristics of eschatology is that it is uniquely tied in with every other majortheological doctrine, from ecclesiology (the study of the church) to soteriology (the study of salvation). We would be grossly remiss to neglect so great a doctrine, seeing its importance with every other biblical doctrine. I would equate neglecting prophecy to only reading two-thirdsof a book, or only watching two-thirds of a movie. You might get a general idea, but you have no idea how things end. Additionally, let me share with you three points currently impacting the Churches of Christ (collectively) in the US in the 21st century. 1. Our nation is increasingly moving from an Acts 2 culture to an Acts 19 culture. What this means is that our nation is increasingly turning pagan. We are becoming moreunchurched, de-churched, and increasingly hostile to the Gospel message. Again, the Bible predicts this would happen (2 Timothy 3, 2 Peter 3, Jude, etc.) a. Unchurched happens when a society places little to no emphasison the importance of religion or church in people’s life. The church becomes a non-factor in people’s lives. Furthermore, the less homogenous a population becomes, the more belief systems are thrown into the mix causing Christianity to just become “another” belief system. b. De-churched happens when people who formerly attended, make a decision (for a variety of reasons) they no longer need God or church. Three major causes for people abandoningChristianity are confusion over what “Christian” means, people, confusing spirituality for Christianity, and people confusing religion for a relationship with Jesus Christ. c. Hostility toward Christianity has been on the rise, particularly, through legal and political action, as well as the rise in popularity with post-modernism, secularism,and Marxism/socialism. But the bottom line is the Biblical worldview is increasingly put out from the marketplace of ideas and the public forum 2. Our church population is on the decline. While Barna Studiesare showing evangelical church populations holding steady (pre-COVID), Churches of Christ (non-instrumental) in particular, are declining faster than others. Recent studies have shown that Churches of Christ lose an average of 2,400 members a month nationwidefrom 2016-2019. Ironically, this decline is at a time when other evangelical churches are seeing a growth in membership (Source)(3) (Source) (4) (Source) (5). The bottom line on this- aging populations, as well as decreasing newer, younger membership, willcause Churches of Christ to go extinct within a generation. Causes for the decline: a. Older generation aging out b. Lack of leadership roles for women c. People wanting more experience-driven worship (i.e., entertainment) d. Decline in church planting and discipleship e. Pandemic fears and quarantines- older and vulnerable populations no longer feel it is worth the risk or necessary to attend in person f. No emphasis on prophetic scripture 3. The world is becoming increasingly destabilized. Whetherwe are talking about the rise in violence/terrorism, political polarity, economic inflation/deflation, global pandemics, extreme weather events, or the national debt, people are becoming increasingly fearful of the future. People are desperately searchingfor answers, and increasingly, church pulpits are remaining silent for a variety of reasons (political correctness, confusion over eschatology, being labeled as fringe, etc.). The red flag issue here is that churches that remain silent, are increasingly beingshunned by those seeking answers. a. Declining memberships are driving denominations to turn to non-biblical measures to maintain membership populations (social justice gospel, “Woke” gospel, purpose-driven,seeker-sensitive, entertainment, etc.) b. Silence from the pulpit on America’s precarious decline isincreasing online ministries who focus on end-time/last days events. However, the downside is there is little to no quality control for what’s being put out there online Bottom line: Bible prophecy offers both the reason why thingsare happening the way they are, as well as the solution for the world we are living in. There is a common saying that goes, things are not falling apart, they are falling into place. However, if you don’t study or are taught what these things are, things justappear chaotic and fearful. This is why prophecy exists- not to tickle our ears or our curiosity, but to settle our hearts on the things above. Jesus stated on numerous occasions that He would tell His apostles things ahead of time so that when it happened, they would believe (John 13:19, 14:29, 16:4). The properusage of Bible prophecy is for OUR edification, not God’s. He is omnipotent and already knows how everything will play out. We are finite and mortal, and presently living in enemy territory. Things are fearful and frightening, but we have God’s word as a lampto our feet, and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105). Not only this, people today are starving for information on the things to come. It is more preferable that this comes from a sound, biblical perspective. When churches refuseto teach on this, people will turn to other sources to find the answers they are searching for. There are plenty of cults, wolves, and other nefarious groups waiting to pounce upon these people who are just searching for the truth. Departure from Restoration The historical eschatology of many of the leaders from within the Restorationist movement was originally camped between either the Pre-Millennial view or the Post-Millennial.As far as I could tell, none were amillennial until at least the 1930s. The Post-Millennial view had men like Alexander Campbell (Millennial Harbinger) and Robert Milligan (Scheme of Redemption) as their chief proponents. The Premillennial view had men like Barton Stone, David Lipscomb (university’s namesake), James A. Harding (university’s namesake), and R.H. Boll (Gospel Advocate) as theirproponents. It wasn’t until Foy E. Wallace (source) 6 came along in the 1930s and 1940s that this began to change. He began an intense purging of these views while simultaneously promoting amillennialism. If that weren’t bad enough, he also promoted or endorsedkeeping congregations racially segregated as well as rejecting pacifism throughout the Churches of Christ during this time. According to Church of Christ professor Lynn Mitchell (the University of Houston and Editorial board member of Leaven), this is whenchurches of Christ began their downward spiral. Quote:Eschatology: Essential, Yet Essentially Ignored, Lynn Mitchell (Source) (7) Eschatology died as a living concern among our churches because of at least four related developments: (1) the acceptance of the church-kingdom identity fostered by TolbertFanning and like-minded sectarians; (2) the powerful and brutal assault on millennial modes of thought and millennial thinkers, particularly premillennial, by the Foy E. Wallace Jr. cadre of de-eschatologizers; (3) the subsequent ruthlessly enforced triumphof amillennialism and the dogma of church-kingdom identity; and (4) the filling of the vacuum in eschatological thinking with inane, hybridized life-after-death language uninformed by biblical or systematic theology. All we have left is ah-millennialism. We are neither passionately radical nor invigoratingly hopeful. From the 1940s onward, not only millenarianism but serious study of eschatology in general became "an excellent subject to let alone." I do not believe it is an exaggerationto suggest that the Churches of Christ, since the middle part of our century, have been living in a theological wasteland left by the systematic destruction of premillennial piety among us and the heartbreaking oppression of our premillennial brothers andsisters by the self-appointed suppressors of error and developers of nothing. Practical Matters In Matthew 16:1-4, some of the harshest rebukes in all of Scripture are recorded, when Jesus chastises the religious leaders of His day for NOT being able to discern thesigns of the times in which they lived. In Revelation 3:1-3, Jesus strongly chastises the Church of Sardis for not watching for His return. The command (not request) to watch is echoed over a dozen times in the Bible for believers. We are commanded to watchfor His return, expecting it at any moment, because we know not the hour of our Master’s return. When churches fail to watch, or even able to discern the times in which they live, they overwhelmingly turn their focus back to earthly things. But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. Luke 21:34 As the old maxim goes, nature abhors a vacuum. If Bible prophecy makes up nearly 30% of our Bible, and as a congregation, we refuse to teach on this 30%, what do we fillthat void with? It has been my experience (in nearly a dozen Churches of Christ in three states), is that they fill it with teaching videos, busyness programs, and social justice endeavors. I taught a 12-week course on eschatology at a Church of Christ inKansas years ago, not from any particular perspective, just a general overview, and I was astounded by how many seasoned church members approached me afterward to tell me they never knew any of it. I just said it’s in your bible, it’s all there. All I addedwas how views came into favor (or disfavor) over the past two millennia. Having spoken to a number of elders and leaders within each of these Churches of Christ, I’ve been told on more than a handful of occasions that they did not want to studyprophecy because it was too “divisive.” I reminded them that technically, every doctrine is divisive (Matt. 10:34), and will become increasingly divisive as our culture continues to nosedive into post-modern immorality. But historically speaking, Churchesof Christ from the Restoration Movement on forward (as well as any number of other types of churches), have fought and divided on any number of issues: •Slavery •Pacifism •Racial Integration •Musical Instruments •Holy Spirit •Communion •Building expansion •Budgets •Tithing •Personal relationships •The color of the carpet or the type of seating Literally, all churches have fought and divided over an endless list of things. To say that we should avoid teaching 30% of the Bible because it has the potential to bedivisive is wrong on a number of levels. First and foremost, we are to study the whole counsel of God, not just the parts we aren’t offended or troubled by. Secondly, if we are worried about not being politically correct, technically, the whole bible is politicallyincorrect. Someday soon, preaching the basic Gospel message is going to be considered divisive, because it is too exclusive to say that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to salvation. Churches today are already abandoning this wholesale for a more appealing, non-offensivefeel-good message that is guaranteed to offend none and also save no one. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 2:15) Amillennialism, as an eschatological endeavor, is flawed on any number of fronts. It is a fact that the original eschatology of the early church was Premillennialism. Amillennialismdidn’t even begin until Augustine published his book, City of God, in the early fourth century. It would go on to become THE eschatological position of the Roman Catholic Church from 431AD (the Council of Ephesus, until this day. Roman Catholic amillennialismpromoted the idea that they were the kingdom, hence, the need for a Pope (i.e. the Vicar of Christ), that they should have a physical headquarters (i.e., the nation-state of the Vatican), and that their economic and political power should hold sway over thenations. Although the Reformers (Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, et al) were able to break away from the RCC and their stranglehold over Christendom, they did little to address the issueof eschatology. For the most part, they just adopted RCC’s amillennial eschatology, and wouldn’t address it again for the next 100 years. Thus, like any academic venture, when starting from a faulty position (list below) it is nearly impossible to get therest of your biblical doctrines aligned correctly. Here is a list of things Amillennialism erroneously promotes 1.The Church is the new Israel 2.The Church is the Kingdom 3.The Church has to conquer the world for Christ 4.The world will get better until Christ returns 5.The Kingdom is now 6.The Kingdom was only spiritual If these were true, then we have every right as Christians, to be confused and perplexed as to why our Kingdom is in such shambles. If these were true, then we have everyright to be confused as to who these people are over in the Middle East, claiming to be Jews. If these were true, then we have every right to wonder why our righteous campaign to reclaim the earth, is faltering at every turn. We would have every right to questionGod’s motives if these were true…and it is a very good, advantageous thing for us now in the 21st century, to know these Amillennial positions are NOT true. Here is a list of things the Bible does say: 1.God is not through with the Jew (Gen. 12, 15, Jer. 31:31-40, Luke 21:24, Rom 11, etc.) 2.National Israel will return to her ancient homeland (Ezekiel 37, Isaiah 11, Luke 21:24) 3.Israel will return to her ancient homeland a second time, never to be moved again (Isaiah 11:11, Amos 9:14-15) 4.The Church is not grafted into Israel, but into God’s outworking’s that include both Israel and the Church. The Church does not replace Israel, wejoin them (Romans 11) 5.The Church becomes partakers of the blessings and privileges of Israel and all nations by faith in the redemptive work of Christ. As believers, webecome “spiritual descendants” of Abraham (Galatians 3), however, our inclusion does not replace or supersede the physical descendants of Abraham. God did not just promise Abraham spiritual descendants, but flesh and blood descendants (Isaac, Jacob, and the12 tribes), thus, God’s OT promises to the nation of Israel are still valid and will be fulfilled So what can the Churches of Christ do? It is my hope that the same passion to grow and learn in all things Christ that I have, would be shared by the rest of your wonderful congregations. If this seems daunting(changing directions from an eschatological position) or it seems like the opposition is too great, I would echo that every great movement, change, vision, has and will meet opposition. Admittedly, I feel a little like Don Quixote myself in even broaching this subject with the elders across the country. I recognize that change can be painful, and changecan be scary, but sometimes, change is necessary, especially, if we have wandered off the path. We should welcome this and challenge what we believe in a biblically consistent and authoritative manner (iron sharpening iron). Here are some practical thingswe can do as a congregation. 1.Elders should ask themselves if they are keeping to the 1st-century model? They maintain the same stances on some things, but are they maintainingthem on all the major things? 2.Church elders should re-examine how they understand and interpret the Bible (hermeneutics). Ask yourselves, is what I understand, and how I understandit, consistent across all theological doctrines? 3.Consider teaching Scripture from a literal, historical, grammatical approach, avoiding both over- allegorization and wooden literalism 4.Begin teaching apologetics. This is imperative as our culture continues to move deeper into post-modernism and cultural relativism 5.Preach the soon return of Christ. While we don’t know the day or hour, both Jesus and Paul stated we would know the season and see that day approaching. The Churches of Christ, who pride themselves on being like the early church, why then would it not keep their eschatology? Why would they not even keep the eschatologicalviews of their Restorationist forefathers? I am not advocating that we only teach prophecy, but just that we don’t avoid it. The whole counsel of God, perfectly in tune with the promptings of the Holy Spirit, to serve its community in uncertain times. Maywe heed the spirit of prophecy, and aspire to Paul’s teaching that we may grow up into all things Christ. And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for theedifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carriedabout with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— Ephesians 4:11-15 Sources List: 1.Payne, J. Democrats, perhaps still seething from Russia's clumsy effortsto sway the 2016 election to Donald Trump, see Vladimir Putin as a Bond movie villain and master manipulator. Republicans focused on commerce, cyber-security, and Asian ascension, look at emerging China as their greatest threat. The party split for choosing China as America's biggest enemy was deep – 54% of Republicans chose China compared with just 14% of Democrats surveyed. Those who instead chose Russia as America's biggest worry split as well,with 40% of Democrats pointing to Putin and the Kremlin while only 8% of Republicans did so. This is surprising, given the central importance of China to the COVID-19 pandemic, the most important news story in the United States in the past 18 months. The actions of the Beijing government since the earliest days ofconcern about the disease have shown in stark relief how a closed, authoritarian society tries to deny and shift blame for its misdeeds. How it seeks to co-opt international health agencies. How it tries to bribe foreigners to do its bidding. How it has infectedmore than just American bodies, but American society and its institutions at many levels. This poll was conducted shortly before evidence of the lab-leak theory began to enter the mainstream and be taken seriously, even by those in the press who previously claimed to have "debunked" it. Almost no one in Americanpolitics, on the Left or Right, has been hailing the Chinese communist government for its efforts to stem the fourth deadly pathogen to come from its shores and devastate the rest of the world. The Chinese government concealed all information about how thevirus originated, encouraging speculation they did so intentionally. According to Gordon Chang, they may even be preparing to do so again, only worse. Clearly, though, there are those who have lived through all of this, submitted to all of the measures necessaryto defend themselves from this deadly virus, seen the deaths of friends, family members and acquaintances, and still do not think China is the world's most critical problem. By comparison, Russia's crimes against the West, real and imagined, amount to a relative nuisance. Russian propagandists use their bot networks to seed conspiracy theories on social media. Russian government hackers, or government-alliedhackers, penetrate with ransomware the computer systems of corporations that provide essential services such as gas and food. The Russian government militarily threatens its neighbors, former Soviet republics. Russia provides arms to America's enemies in Iranand elsewhere. These are all bad things, certainly, but not to the scale of incompetently (or worse) exporting a disease that has killed millions of people around the world, devastated the economies of the West, and changed almost overnightthe fabric of how our societies function and will be able to interact in the foreseeable future. To be clear, the poll's results do not suggest there is a failure by Democrats to see China as a threat, nor that they perceive President Xi Jinping (65% unfavorable) much more favorably than the 71% unfavorable rating ofthe swaggering, KGB-trained Putin. Among both parties, both Putin and Xi trailed only North Korea's tubby tyrant, Kim Jong Un (80% unfavorable) in the poll's findings. Foreign policy, however, is made towards nations, not individual leaders. In geo-political terms it asks: What is another country's ability to help you, or harm you? Much goes into this discipline, including evaluation oftrade relationships, military ambition and posture, the other country's domestic situation, its relationships with our allies, and its standing in the world as a partner for international cooperation. In nearly all these areas, the menace of China looms farlarger to 21st Century America than its chief 20th Century antagonist, Russia. In the 1980s, no one would have suggested that Idi Amin, Fidel Castro, or Muamar Qaddafi was America's greatest enemy. Of course Davis is far from alone. There are 780,407 registered sex offenders in America today, but that number only includes those that have actually been caught. During a �Redneck Rave� in Kentucky this past weekend, there were numerous acts of violence and four dozen people were charged with various crimes� Police said that by the end of the five-day bash, dubbed the �Redneck Rave,� one man had been impaled, one woman had been strangled to the point of unconsciousness, andone throat had been slit. In all, Edmonson authorities arrested 14 people, and charged four dozen people from five states. If even country music fans are starting to get this wild, I think that is a really troubling sign for our society as a whole. #3 Chicago has been a very violent city for a long time, butwhen Yasmin Perez and Gyovanni Arzuaga were dragged out of their vehicles and shot by an angry mob, it shocked the entire world� Disturbing video footage circulating on social-media that apparently captured the 9:15 p.m. assault shows the victims either being pulled or falling out of their car � whichwas flying a Puerto Rican flag � then blasted at close-range by a single gunman. Arzuaga, 24, was fatally shot in the head, while Perez, the 25-year-old mother of the couple�s two children, was left in critical condition from a gunshot to the neck, accordingto the Chicago Sun-Times. But most people that don�t livein Texas soon forgot all about that, and now we have another spectacular example of the rapid deterioration of the once beautiful cities that previous generations handed down to us. According to the latest report that I have seen, nearly 100 people are stillmissing, and officials say that they are hearing �sounds like banging� coming from the wreckage� Miami-Dade fire officials said rescuers have heard �what sounds like banging� from within the rubble, but not voices, as they continue to search for survivors of the ChamplainTowers South collapse. Thirty-seven people have been pulled from the structure so far, and the portions of the building that did not collapse have been evacuated. At least 99 people remain unaccountedfor. Hopefully anyone that is still alive underneath all of that rubble will soon be rescued. What makes this tragedy much worse is that it could have been prevented. According to USA Today, a study that was conducted last year discovered that this particular building had been �sinking at an alarming rate� since the 90s� A Florida high rise that collapsed early Thursday was determined to be unstable a year ago, according to a researcher at Florida International University. The building, which was constructed in 1981, has been sinking at an alarming rate since the 1990s, according to a 2020 study conducted by Shimon Wdowinski, a professor inthe Department of Earth and Environment. So they knew that this was probably going to happen, and they did nothing to stop it. They also know that our entire economy is heading for a massive implosion, and they aren�t doing anything to stop that from happening either. I have been writing about America�s crumbling infrastructure for many years, and now we have gotten to a point where horrible �accidents� are occurring all around us ona regular basis. Prior to the tragedy in Florida, the sudden collapse of a bridge in Washington D.C. was making headlines all over the nation� SIX people have been injured after a bridge in Washington DC collapsed, reports say. Shocking pictures show that the Kenilworth bridge caved in over a highway, halting dozens of cars. Five people were rushed to hospital and six people in total were hurt, cops said during an afternoon press conference. If you are not familiar with that disaster, you can see footage of the aftermath right here. None of this should be a surprise to any of us. The ASCE has been sounding the alarm about America�s crumbling infrastructure for a very long time, but very few have beenlistening. To me, these numbers are simply astounding� The topic of improving our national infrastructure is once again front and center in Washington. For years, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has been urgingpolicymakers to reinvest in things like waterways, bridges, energy grids, and roads. In fact, ASCE reports that 43% of America�s public roadways are in poor or mediocre condition, more than 230,000 U.S. bridges require repair and preservation work, and thereis a water main break every two minutes, causing an estimated six billion gallons of treated water to be lost each day. So now the Biden administration wants to make a big effort to patch up some of our decaying infrastructure. That is a noble goal, but instead of using existing funds the Biden administration is proposing an enormous amount of new spending� According to the White House, the price tag comes in at $1.2 trillion over eight years, with more than $500 billion in new spending. How the measure would be paid for wasa central point in negotiations, with Republicans opposed to undoing any of the 2017 tax cuts. The plan �makes transformational and historic investments in clean transportation infrastructure, clean water infrastructure, universal broadband infrastructure, clean powerinfrastructure, remediation of legacy pollution, and resilience to the changing climate,� said a White House fact sheet on the plan released Thursday. We can�t do this. Our politicians have already borrowed and spent trillions and trillions of dollars that we did not have over the course of the past year, and this has created very painfulinflation throughout our economy. Stealing hundreds of billions more dollars from future generations may seem like a good short-term solution, but it just makes our long-term financial problems even worse. I am all for fixing up our infrastructure, but existing funds that are already being greatly wasted elsewhere should be diverted for that purpose. But that isn�t going to happen. Our politicians are absolutely addicted to spending money, and after this �infrastructure package� gets passed I am sure that they will sooncome up with even more ways to flush our future down the toilet. Every dollar that we borrow and spend now is a dollar that we will be expected to pay back later with interest. During the past year, our politicians have been on the biggest spending binge in American history by a very wide margin, but most Americans don�t seem to care. And the Federal Reserve has been committing economic suicide by pumping trillions upon trillions of fresh dollars into the financial system, but most Americans don�t seemto care about that either. Our entire society is absolutely addicted to immediate gratification, and so the vast majority of the population wants our leaders to do whatever is necessary to make lifebetter right now. Meanwhile, the long-term outlook for our nation just gets bleaker and bleaker. But if you think that things have been bad so far, just wait, because we are being warned that “a bloody summer” is on the way… “The spike in homicides and nonfatal shootings is extremely alarming,” said Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo, who recently left the Houston Police Department and leads theMajor Cities Chiefs Association, an organization of law enforcement executives. “One of the reasons we talk about a bloody summer ahead for our country is because it’s already been a very bloody year, a very deadly year for Americans.” There is usually more violent crime when the weather is warmer, and we have definitely seen that so far here in the month of June. Mass shootings are considered to be incidents in which at least four people are wounded, and during this past weekend we witnessed mass shootings in New Jersey, Colorado,Indiana, Virginia, Alaska, Louisiana, Minnesota, Texas and California. They are happening with such frequency now that each one barely makes a blip in the news before the next one happens. To me, the most disturbing incident during the weekend took place in Chicago… And in another deadly shooting in the city on Saturday night, two individuals were attacked by a group of men after a crash took place at Humboldt Park, prompting a largecrowd to surround Gyovanny Arzuaga’s vehicle. He and his girlfriend, Yasmin Perez, were attending a Puerto Rican People’s Day parade in the park, Newsweek reported, when a group of two or three gunmen ambushed themand opened fire. A video of the incident, posted to Twitter, purportedly shows Arzuaga surrounded by a group of men, who leave him lying unresponsive on the ground. Words cannot really convey the true horror of that attack. If you have not seen the video footage yet, you can watch it right here. When I first watched it, I could hardly believe what I was seeing. There has always been violence in our streets, but nothing like this. What in the world is happening to our country? Overall, the number of shootings in the city of Chicago is up 18 percent so far this year. I know that sounds bad, but other major cities are seeing much larger spikes. In Philadelphia, the number of shootings is up 27 percent so far this year. It is supposed to be “the city of brotherly love”, but it is rapidly becoming one of the most dangerous places in America. In Atlanta, the number of shootings is up 40 percent so far this year. But at least the Hawks are doing well, right? In Los Angeles, the number of shootings is up 51 percent so far this year. Crime is now the number one political issue in the L.A. area, and even tourist areas such as Venice Beach are being totally trashed. In New York City, the number of shootings is up 64 percent so far this year. As I discussed yesterday, in the Big Apple running gun battles even happen during broad daylight these days. In Minneapolis, the number of shootings is up 90 percent so far this year. I spent a lot of time in Minneapolis growing up, because I have a lot of relatives in the area. I can’t believe how far that once beautiful city has now fallen. But there is one major city that even has Minneapolis beat. In Portland, the number of shootings is up 126 percent so far this year. Everywhere you look, there is chaos and violence, and what we have been through so far is just the beginning. It is almost as if a significant percentage of the population has gone completely and totally nuts over the past couple of years. In this sort of an environment, you neverknow what some crazy person might do. Here is just one example… A Bel Air homeowner is in shock after coming face to face with a violent naked man who broke into his house and killed the family pets. Mat Sabz was home alone Thursday afternoon when his wife called to tell him that security cameras showed a naked man breaking into their home. You have got to be really sick to want to kill somebody’s pets. Sadly, right now there are vast numbers of really sick people running around out there, and many of them would kill you and your family without even thinking twice aboutit. Up to this point in 2021, a total of 20,729 Americans have died as a result of gun violence, and by the time most of you read this article that number will inevitably beeven higher. Ironically, many of the cities that have the strictest gun laws also have some of the highest murder rates. In Chicago, the number of gang members is more than ten times greater than the number of law enforcement officers, and that is causing enormous problems. The politicianscan pass as many laws as they want, but violent criminals are going to remain heavily armed and they are going to retain the upper hand for the foreseeable future. Of course Chicago is far from alone. Violent criminals are gaining the upper hand in communities all over the country, and meanwhile police officers are resigning in recordnumbers from coast to coast after being relentlessly demonized by the mainstream media for months on end. Our society really is coming apart at the seams all around us. Unfortunately, most Americans still do not understand what is happening. Liberal politicians are high on control and low on accountability. Everybody has their excuse, their sad story as to why they are the way they are. Oh, they are poor sothey can�t be held by the same standards. Oh, the standards were made by a white majority so others should not be held accountable to those standards.
