Already known as the country in the world with the most pervasivesurveillance and social credit system, China has now created a digital currency, the digital renminbi or yuan -- also known as Digital Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP) -- to ensure that hardly any transaction goes unregistered. Unlike cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, which are not issued by governments and therefore cannot be used as means of payment in most daily transactions, China's digitalcurrency is issued and controlled by China's central bank. According to the Wall Street Journal, the currency "is expected to give China's government vast new tools to monitor both its economy and its people. By design, the digitalyuan will negate one of bitcoin's major draws: anonymity for the user." "DCEP is the antithesis of Bitcoin. The ultimate goal of a cryptocurrency is the separation of money and state," said Stewart Mackenzie, a cryptocurrency expert based inHong Kong. "It's easy for them to say that it's like Bitcoin when it's worlds apart." The real purpose of the new digital currency, however, seems to be to challenge the long-standing global reign of the US dollar. "China must brace for a full-blown escalationof the struggle with the United States and prepare to gradually decouple the Chinese yuan from the US dollar," Zhou Li, a former deputy director of the Communist Party's International Liaison Department wrote in July 2020. "By taking advantage of the dollar'sglobal monopoly position in the financial sector, the US will pose an increasingly severe threat to China's further development." China has been working on the digital yuan since 2014 and launched it as a pilot project in four Chinese cities last year. The digital currency has since been expanded to10 cities and provinces covering 100 million people, where the pilot has been conducted in the form of lotteries. In Shenzhen, for instance, the government gave away a total of 10 million yuan (about $1.5 million) to about 50,000 people, which they could then use with 3,000 local merchantsafter downloading a digital renminbi app. Shenzhen is home to some of the country's biggest tech giants, such as Huawei and Tencent; Walmart reportedly also participated in the pilot project. Another Chinese e-commercecompany, JD.com, as part of the project, paid its employees with the digital yuan. There are reportedly also plans to have foreign athletes and visitors at the 2022 Beijing Olympics use the digital yuan as a means of payment. Most recently, it has been reported that China will hand out 40 million renminbi ($6.2 million) of its digital currency to citizens in Beijing in a lottery; that it is testingthe digital yuan in Hong Kong, and that it recently rolled out more than 3,000 ATMs in Beijing where people will be able to convert digital yuans to cash and vice versa. China is denying that launching the digital yuan is fraught with hidden agendas, such as challenging the dollar. "For the internationalization of renminbi, we have saidmany times that it's a natural process, and our goal is not to replace US dollar or any other international currency," said Li Bo, a deputy governor of the People's Bank of China. "Our goal is to allow the market to choose." "Some foreign media outlets recently associated the process with geopolitics, assuming that the PBC [People's Bank of China] plans to establish a new global financial configurationby issuing DC/EP [digital currency/electronic payment]," the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Global Times wrote recently. "Some even jumped to the conclusion that the Chinese government deems the issue and control of a sovereign digital currency as a 'new battlefield' of national competition.In fact, the PBC's decision is merely a necessary move to comply with the inevitable trend of global currency development. From material objects and precious metals to paper notes and the digital currency in the future, pursuing simpler and easier payments is an unstoppable trend of monetaryand financial development." The CCP, however, has an unfortunate history of not adhering strictly to its own pledges. In 1984, it pledged that Hong Kong's autonomy, including its rights and freedoms,would remain unchanged for 50 years under the principle of "one country, two systems" after the territory's 1997 return to Chinese sovereignty. By June 2020, however, when the CCP introduced its national security law in Hong Kong, it had reneged on its pledge. The CCP continues to crush Hong Kong. Last week, theCCP arrested Ryan Law and four other senior editors and executives of Apple Daily, a Hong Kong newspaper dedicated to promoting democracy. The paper's founder and owner, Jimmy Lai, 72, is presently serving a 20-month prison sentence. The CCP further broke its 2015 commitment not to militarize artificial islands that Beijing had been building in the Spratly Islands chain in the South China Sea, and ithas never honored at least nine of the commitments it made when it joined the World Trade Organization, to name just a few instances. This list of broken pledges does not even include the lies that China told the world about the supposed non-transmissibility of the Coronavirus, which originated in Wuhanand has so far taken nearly four million lives and ravaged countless economies. Despite the CCP's protests to the contrary, there seems to be little doubt that China sees its new digital currency as a crucial element in the competition to become theworld's dominant technological power: The new digital currency is part of the CCP's ambition, as laid out in its new Five-Year Plan for the years 2021-2025, to digitalize China. The digitalization, in turn, is part of China's ambition to become technologically independent of the West and to dominate global tech and overtake the US as the world'sdominant power by 2049, the 100th anniversary of China's Communist Revolution. China's Five-Year Plan mentions blockchain technology: "We will foster and strengthen emerging digital industries such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, cloud computing, and cyber security..." The Proposal of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party on Drawing Up the 14th Five-Year Plan mentions "digital currency development": "We will develop the digital economy, promote digital industrialization and industrial digitalization, promote the deep integration of the digital and real economies, andcreate internationally competitive digital industry clusters... Construct a modern central bank system, refine money supply management mechanisms, safely promote digital currency development..." Crucially, China's new digital currency, in addition to increasing state control and surveillance in China, as well as challenging the US dollar, could affect the abilityof the US and other countries to level sanctions at the Chinese government for its human rights abuses and other breaches of international law. According to Sahil Mahtani, writing in American Affairs Journal in April: "... a groundbreaking digital currency launched by China's central bank is likely to create a parallel pay­ments network--one beyond American oversight--thereby cripplingU.S. sanctions policy. This devel­opment will compromise U.S. power around the world, and therefore should attract interest from more than the usual suspects who obsess over digital currencies... "The expansion of a Chinese digital currency will ultimately pry open the U.S. grip over global payments, and therefore compromise U.S. sanctions policy and a significantmeasure of U.S. power in the world... "It is not that China's digital currency is going to become the dominant standard of payments ... But it could become one standard, creating a parallel system with whichto avoid the long arm of U.S. regulation." The US, on its part, does not appear ready for China's challenge over the future of money. Jerome H. Powell, the chair of the Federal Reserve, said in March that at thisstage the Fed was only looking into whether there is even a need for a central bank digital currency. He also said that U.S. officials would only consider issuing a digital dollar if they believed there was a clear use and if the idea had widespread public and politicalbuy-in, according to the New York Times. "Does the public want, or need, a new digital form of central bank money to complement what is already a highly efficient, reliable and innovative payments arena?" said Powell. "Not only are the American monetary authorities underestimating the threat posed to dollar dominance by China's pioneering combination of digital currency and electronicpayments," wrote Stanford Professor Niall Ferguson recently. Much like what we have for our financial credit ratings, China's "social credit" system attaches a positive point value to behavior that the government views as praiseworthy(showing integrity, responsibility and/or trustworthiness) and a negative point value for behavior it wants to discourage. "Bad" behavior includes spending too much time playing video games, not caring for aging parents, poor driving, jaywalking, not payingone's debts and, of course, criticizing the government. The enormity of this effort is impossible to overstate. Chinese companies (and foreign companies authorized to do business in China) collect massive amounts of data on Chinesepeople from their cellphone and internet use and turn it over to the Chinese government. Dozens of government agencies share data and information with each other. Hundreds of millions of surveillance cameras watch Chinese people in cities across the country(with hundreds of millions more to come). Advanced facial recognition technology and complex algorithms assist in determining the identity of those being surveilled in public places. And, of course, there are the "informers" � members of the local communitywho report the good and bad conduct of their neighbors and co-workers to authorities. Eventually, every Chinese citizen over a certain age will have a "social credit" score. The consequences of a low social credit score are serious. Those with low scores are "blacklisted" and denied travel benefits, including access to visas or even the abilityto buy plane or train tickets. They can be denied employment or promotions at work. Their children can be denied access to the best schools and universities. Their names and faces are often placed prominently on public billboards to "name and shame" them. Chinese people interviewed by Western news organizations defended the social credit system, claiming that it will produce more responsible people and a better society. Thisis perhaps unsurprising, as China does not have the individualist culture America does. But then, the Chinese know that their social credit score may well go down if they do criticize the system, so one may have to take the glowing reviews with a grain ofsalt. However, Americans should not just shrug off these oppressive initiatives as something that could only happen in China. For one thing, a significant amount of the surveillancetechnology used by China's Communist government was developed and provided by American companies. These are names we know and recognize, including Seagate, Intel and HP Inc., among others. If the technology can be used there, it can be used here for the same purposes. That should concern us, especially given other trends we are seeing here in the United States. The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have brought out the statist authoritarianismin many of our government officials � and much of the citizenry. Every day, we see more calls for social compliance on pain of sanctions. Information about the efficacy of COVID vaccines and the need for masks are two good examples of why this trend is so dangerous. We cannot seem to get solid, verifiableinformation on either. Just this week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shifted gears yet again on the need for vaccinated individuals to wear masks and the need for K-12 children to wear masks in schools. Just two weeks ago, we were assuredthat masks were not necessary because the vaccines are effective. Now, we are being told that the vaccines are effective, but that masks are necessary anyway. But we are not being shown the data that allegedly supports the ever-changing "consensus." Dr. SanjayGupta stated on CNN, "this is data that has not even been published yet." And yet, despite the capriciousness of the government's official party line on all things COVID, social and broadcast media are rife with videos of public shaming of non-maskwearers, and calls to "make life hard" for those who will not (or cannot) take the vaccine, including refusing access to public places like restaurants and sports arenas and even denial of medical treatment. Public and private employers across the U.S. aremandating the vaccine, and dozens of lawsuits have been filed by Americans who have already been fired for not getting it. Just last week, the White House announced that they were calling on Facebook and other Big Tech social media companies to censor what President Joe Biden calls "misinformation"about COVID vaccines and the virus itself. But those same social media companies (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) have already been actively censoring accurate information about COVID that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the CDC and Democrats wanted suppressed; specifically,evidence supporting the theory that the virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. And this is in addition to censoring other accurate information when it promotes conservative political ideas or casts unfavorable light on favorite Democrat politicians.Facebook and Twitter conveniently banned news stories about Biden's son Hunter and the damning information on his laptop right before the November 2020 presidential election. And there's more. Since the 2020 election � and the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol � there has been an active attempt by the Democratic Party and their lap dogs in the pressto smear all Trump supporters as "racists," "extremists," "white supremacists," "domestic terrorists" and "the insurrectionist next door." In such a climate, it is even more concerning when the FBI asks people to start reporting family members, neighbors andfriends whose beliefs or behavior are "suspicious." And Americans are doing just that. The simple answer is, �No, it�s not.� The Bible states the antichrist � a future globalist despot who leads a brutal one-world government system � will implement the Markof the Beast halfway into a well-defined seven-year period known as The Tribulation (Revelation 13:16-17). That will be a future time when evil reaches a peak. In Daniel 8:23, we�re told it will be a point ��when rebels have become completely wicked.� Some translations put itthis way, ��when the transgressors are come to the full.� In other words, under the antichrist�s ultimate socialist rule, evil will be like a cup of water that is so full that it cannot take another drop. If it could, it wouldn�tbe full. That�s the picture here; sin on the earth will reach maximum expression in this final chapter of human history. Tough as things are becoming, we�re not yet at that point. The Bible is equally clear that the antichrist cannot be revealed until the �restrainer is taken out of the way� (2 Thess. 2:1-7). There is only one power that is infinitely greater than all the forces the devil can muster. There�s only one �restrainer� that can stand against such evil. That is God. The Holy Spirit lives within each person who is truly saved. As much as we see world conditions deteriorating, there is still a �restraining� effect due to the presenceof believers � and from those who support the laws and values which find their origin in God�s Word. That will all precipitously change at some unknown point. A moment is coming where all who trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation will be suddenly and preternaturallyremoved from this earth. Poof! Gone. It�s a blessed event for those who are taken from this planet to be with their Lord and Savior forever (Titus 2:13). It�s also imminent, which means we cannot predict itstiming. Plenty try to, but that�s a foolish undertaking. When it happens, there will be concerted political AND supernatural efforts to explain what took place as something other than what the Bible makes plain. I have no doubtabout this. Many then � as now � will believe a lie instead of the truth. Meantime, and until such point, we already see conditions in the world aligning for this future timeframe wherein this one-world leader and his ultimate socialist agendawill take center stage. Some people today actually want all this to happen. They�re openly calling for a one-world government. They don�t evaluate their wishes through the lens of God�s Word anymore than they do through any filters of common sense. Instead, they are keenly frustrated with anyone who takes a sensible stance against their supposed �utopian ideals.� Why do you think there are hordes of radicals who hate anyone that supports constitutionally-based freedoms, secure borders, and law and order? Why do certain people cheatto win and lie to cover it up? Why does a specific group of people despise Israel, devalue human life, believe in multiple genders, promote division, advance the fallacy of climate change, applaud sexualdepravities of all sorts, incarcerate church leaders, defund the police, jail the good guys, release the bad guys, defend a two-tiered justice system, push depopulation, censor truth, celebrate lawlessness, and want to penalize anyone that doesn�t do and seethings their way? There�s a group of folks that are largely defined by these positions. It�s these kinds of people that are the prototype of the population that will support the antichristand his depraved policies when that final apocalyptic leader arrives. The character of his future supporters has never been more self-evident than right now. So � what about this Mark of the Beast thing? To be sure, the present �V� is a conditioning process. It�s setting the stage. It�s a trial run for what�s coming down theroad. I absolutely believe this. The jab is a chance to control the population, to force compliance, to manipulate minds, to squash independence, to reward those who believe lies and to penalize those whodon�t. It�s a chance to go door to door in a thinly-veiled campaign to gain personal information and to document anyone who resists this new tactic of a globalist agenda. It�s a chance to threaten people to conform � or else! It�s also a key opportunity to publicly ridicule anyone who thinks for themselves and to blame certain folks for problems they really aren�t a part of. It�s a justificationfor building bias, for fostering hate, for imposing restrictions, for cultivating resentment, for removing rights, and for prospering deception. Getting all these conditions underway will be helpful to achieving the ultimate goal of mass total control. That�s coming, believe me. Meantime, the �V� is little more than a precursor event. Much as it smacks of some of the same dynamics as the real Mark of the Beast, the latter is not here � � not yet. You don�t want to be here on earth when it DOES come. Those will be terrible times � the worst ever according to Jesus (Matthew 24:21). It�s tough to wrap one�s mind aroundthe implications of this. Get your heart right with Jesus Christ while you still have a chance. �If you declare with your mouth that �Jesus is Lord� and believe in your heart that God raised Himfrom the dead, you will be saved.� (Romans 10:9). There is no better time than now to do it. NOTE: I personally believe that it is the run up to the Mark of the Beast. The reason I believe this is that the Bible talks about pandemics in the last days which laysthe foundation of people coming together to accept these vaccines. I also suspect that nano technology may be in the vaccines so that they can know where every human being is.
