A FLY WITH ANTS ON ITS WINGS
Romans 1:20
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse."
When most people look at a photo of the Goniurellia tridens fruit fly, they think it must have been created by a talented Photoshop artist. No, this fly with images of ant-like insects on its wings is no accident of nature. The images were put there by a Master Designer.
Dr. Brigitte Howarth, the fly specialist at Zayed University in the UAE who first discovered G tridens, said that the image on the wing is absolutely perfect. A closer examination of the transparent wings of Goniurellia tridens reveals a piece of evolutionary art. Each wing carries a precisely detailed image of an ant-like insect, complete with six legs, two antennae, a head, thorax and tapered abdomen. When threatened, the fly flashes its wings to give the appearance of ants walking back and forth. This confuses the predator, allowing the fly to escape.
As expected, the story and pictures of G tridens were soon flying all over the Internet. Evolutionists rejoiced, claiming that the fruit fly was a beautiful example of natural selection. But we have to point out that there is no evidence whatsoever to support that claim. As usual, evolutionists simply assume that evolution is true. What they fail to do is show how those images of ants got on the fly's wings.
Creationists don't need to provide a step-by-step explanation of how these extraordinary wings developed. The fact is, the design is in their genes! God designed them that way!
Heavenly Father, when I look at the things You have created, I see what unbelievers are unable to see. Open their eyes so they might see that You are the designer who alone has the power to save them from their sins. Amen.

DUNG BEETLE NAVIGATION
Job 37:14
"Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God."
Humans, birds and seals are all known to navigate by the stars. But now, the lowly dung beetle could be the first example of an insect being a stargazer. These lowly insects appear to use the stars of the Milky Way to know where they are going. Most humans can't even accomplish that!
Dung beetles, you see, like to move in straight lines. When they come across a pile of droppings, they make a small ball of dung and start pushing it away to a safe distance where they can dine alone, far away from their hungry neighbors. If they didn't know how to push it in a straight line, they would run the risk of circling back to the original pile of droppings and having to fight off other dung beetles.
Dr. Marie Dacke of Lund University in Sweden had previously shown that dung beetles were able to travel in a straight line by taking cues from the Sun, the Moon, and even the pattern of polarized light formed around these light sources. But it was their capacity to maintain course even on clear, moonless nights that led to the new discovery.
Evolution, of course, is powerless to explain how the dung beetle can navigate by the stars - something that most people can't do without the help of technology. God has given them a set of instructions - or instincts - that enable them to survive. If God cares so much for the lowly dung beetle, just think about how much more He cares for You!
Oh Lord, when I consider the unique abilities You have given to even the lowliest of creatures, I am in awe of Your unbounded love. Thank You for the gifts You have given me, especially the gift of eternal life You gave me when I put my faith in Jesus. For it's in His name I pray. Amen.

UNIVERSE NOT EXPANDING AFTER ALL?
Isaiah 40:22
"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:"
If we can learn anything from science, it's this - the scientific facts of today won't necessarily be the facts of tomorrow. The simple truth is that a scientific fact that is no longer a fact was never a fact to begin with!
Take, for example, the so-called scientific fact of the expanding universe. We've all been told that this is a scientific fact, a relic of the Big Bang that explains the red shift of stars as they speed away from us. But now, a team of astrophysicists from Lawrenceville Plasma Physics are calling that well-known fact into question.
According to Sci-News.com, the results of their tests "are consistent with what would be expected from ordinary geometry if the Universe was not expanding, and are in contradiction with the drastic dimming of surface brightness predicted by the expanding universe hypothesis." In other words, this "new evidence, based on detailed measurements of the size and brightness of hundreds of galaxies, indicates that the universe is not expanding after all."
We'll let scientists battle it out over whether the universe is expanding. Their views are bound to change anyway. But those of us who know that the Bible never needs correction can be certain of one thing - that God stretched out the heavens during Creation Week.
Father, thank You for scientists who increase our understanding of the universe You created. But never let me forget that man's knowledge falls far short of the knowledge we find in the pages of Scripture. Amen.

WHERE DID ALL THE WATER GO?
Genesis 7:11
"In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
Evolutionists and atheists like to think they've got Bible-believing creationists stumped when they ask, "If a worldwide flood really happened, where did all the water go? If Noah's flood covered the mountaintops, what happened to all that water?"
Creationists have often responded by saying that the water ended up in the deep ocean trenches like the Mariana trench in the western Pacific. The trench is so deep, the world's tallest mountains could be submerged without breaking the ocean's surface!
But another answer was suggested by the recent discovery of a vast reservoir of water that's three times larger than all of the world's oceans combined! As reported in NewScientist, "The water is hidden inside a blue rock called ringwoodite that lies 700 kilometres - that's 434 miles - underground in the mantle, the layer of hot rock between Earth's surface and its core."
According to researcher Steven Jacobsen of Northwestern University, "It's good evidence the Earth's water came from within." This statement by a secular scientist agrees with the Bible when it says that in addition to the rain, the "fountains of the great deep" were broken up.
This could also explain where all the water went after the flood subsided. It suggests that the waters of the flood ended up in the sponge-like ringwoodite that's buried beneath the entire United States and possibly the whole world. Christians never need to fear the charges brought against the Bible by atheists and evolutionists.
Father, thank You for the many scientific discoveries that confirm the historicity of the Bible - especially the early chapters of Genesis which many people reject. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

MAXWELL'S PRAYER

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."
The great scientist James Clerk Maxwell, a contemporary of Charles Darwin, was certainly no friend of Darwin's theory of evolution. Even so, the staunchest evolutionists today would agree that Maxwell was a scientist of gigantic proportions, ranking right up there with celebrated scientists like Sir Isaac Newton.
In a previously aired Creation Moments broadcast, we told you that Maxwell believed that Jesus Christ is the Savior who came to deliver humanity from the results of sin. We also mentioned that a writing of his, found after his death, stated that the motivation for his work was that God had created all things just as Genesis says. And since God created humans in His image, scientific study is a fit activity for one's lifework.
But Maxwell's heart for God is expressed most clearly in a prayer he wrote that was found in his notes after he died in 1879 at the young age of 48. The rest of today's broadcast is in Maxwell's own words:
"Almighty God, Who hast created man in Thine own image, and made him a living soul that he might seek after Thee, and have dominion over Thy creatures, teach us to study the works of Thy hands, that we may subdue the earth to our use, and strengthen the reason for Thy service; so to receive Thy blessed Word, that we may believe on Him Whom Thou hast sent, to give us the knowledge of salvation and the remission of our sins. All of which we ask in the name of the same Jesus Christ, our Lord."
Heavenly Father, I pray that You would give more scientists the faith that guided men like James Clerk Maxwell. Help them to see science as studying the works of Thy hands. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
