GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS: 4.24.15

From 2004 through 2015, the total market cap of US stocks increased by 88.22% vs. the total market cap of stocks listed around the rest of the world rising 151.16%. During this same time period, quarterly dollar volume of US stocks increased by 28.35% vs. quarterly dollar volume of stocks listed around the rest of the world rising 354.02%.

The US has experienced an extreme loss of market liquidity. The monthly turnover percentage of US stocks (monthly dollar volume/total market cap) plunged to below 10% in 2013 and remains there today, which is well below the median since 2004 of 14.05%.

In July of 2004, the dollar volume of US stocks traded on the NYSE and NASDAQ accounted for 68.96% of the world's total stock market dollar volume. Last month, the dollar volume of US stocks only accounted for 31.47% of the world's total stock market dollar volume.

China surpassed the US last month to become the new center of the financial world. For the month of March 2015, the dollar volume of Chinese stocks traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges accounted for 40.6% of the world's total stock market dollar volume.
