The Real Problems with Illegal Immigration - Todd Strandberg - http://www.raptureready.com/rap16.html
One of the key factors that made America a superpower is its history of being a "nation of immigrants." People came here with their skills and ambition and created wealth. In the days when Ellis Island was a functioning gateway, we were very selective about who we let into the country. If someone had a criminal record or some type of infectious disease, he or she would likely be sent back to their country of origin.
Today, our borders are almost nonexistent. For decades, wave after wave of illegal immigrants have been flooding into America. There are now around 20 million illegal aliens in our nation; with 1.7 million coming in just since 2014. One-fifth of the one-time citizens of El Salvador are now living in the United States.
In the area of immigration we have a complete breakdown of the rule of law. I'm constantly reading about the absurdity of people being caught and deported as many as a dozen times. Nearly half the people who come to the U.S. on visas overstay their time limit.
Politicians like President Obama openly support illegal immigration. He and his liberal cronies see these immigrants as a way to gain political power. Since most of the new arrivals will vote for the Democratic Party, liberals welcome the invasion. Our porous southern border allows them to import their voter base.
Anyone who protests this policy is asked, "What are we going to do, round them all up?" Since they are breaking our laws, that would be the appropriate thing to do. If a massive number of people were cheating on their taxes, would they also say, "What are we going to do, round them all up?"
This unchecked immigration comes with a very high cost. In 2010, the average unlawful immigrant household received around $24,721 in government benefits and services while paying some $10,334 in taxes. This generated an average annual fiscal deficit (benefits received minus taxes paid) of around $14,387 per household. The annual costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local level is about $113 billion; nearly $29 billion at the federal level and $84 billion at the state and local level.
The greatest problem with illegal immigration is the erosion of our society. Liberals think they are making the country better by adding to our diversity. What they are really doing is undermining our nation's main culture by helping to create subcultures hostile or non-cooperative to the national interest. To have unity, people who come here need to assimilate to the American culture.
Since 46 percent of legal immigrants and approximately 75 percent of illegal migrants are Hispanic, they ignore traditional U.S. institutions in favor of alternative Spanish-language ones. They frequent websites, radio stations, and TV networks that are in Spanish. The development of this subculture is what has allowed Spanish-language network Univision to top all other stations (including the "Big Four," ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox) in the ratings.
My hometown is Storm Lake, Iowa. It is the perfect example to explain the balkanization process. The population went from zero to 36 percent Hispanic. You wouldn't know it by going into many of the long-existing local businesses. The immigrants have their own grocery stores, restaurants, and even their own radio station. In a town of 10,000 people, there are two separate cultures.
Europe has made a huge mistake by allowing in ten million Muslims. Most followers of the Koran see their religion as being superior to the citizenship requirements of their adopted nation. In one poll, over half of the Muslims living in Europe said they would support a forced effort to make Islamic law the rule of the land.
Not even the rash of mass murders in France has not caused the country to highlight the immense cultural conflict. It would be bad enough to have Muslims motivated by some major grievance, but many of the attacks are carried out by Islamists that decide out of the blue that they want to kill all infidels.
We get into demonic madness when it comes to crimes committed by immigrants. The liberal media have an embargo on criminal acts by illegal aliens. While they represent just 3.5% of the U.S. population, undocumented immigrants represent 7% of federal prison sentences following convictions on charges of sexual abuse, 9% of murders, 12% of assaults and 30% of kidnappings. These numbers are brushed aside because they don't fit in with the media's agenda on immigration.
My greatest fear is that our broken borders are going to play right into the hands of a right-wing reactionary party. The lawlessness created by liberal policies is the perfect setting for a Hitler-like figure to come along and promise he will restore order.
"As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man" (Matthew 24:37).
