The Death of Journalism - Todd Strandberg - https://www.raptureready.com/category/nearing-midnight/
The nation's news media has had a leftist bias much longer than I've been here on planet Earth. For decades, the press would only gently put its thumb on the scale to slightly give its side an advantage in news coverage. Over the past couple years, we have seen a complete meltdown of all objective news standards.
I've seen the change at our local Planet Fitness gym. Up on the ceiling, they have a long row of TVs that have CNN and MSNBC spaced out every seventh TV. As I work out, I've noticed that two liberal channels are almost always talking about President Trump. There seem to be three phases in the reporting:
The first phase was all the bad things he did in the past. They dug out all of Trump's bad business deals. Anyone who lost money investing with him was given camera time.
The Second phase was all the harmful things he is currently doing. It doesn't matter how good the economy is doing right now. The press has found the people who have been left behind by the so-called Trump boom.
The third phase is pure delusion-thinking, where the imagination is the only limit on Trump's "evil nature." For example: Joe Scarborough on 9/11 said, "Trump is damaging the dream of America more than any terrorist attack ever could." He has helped lower black unemployment to record low levels, and still he is regularly described as the most racist president to ever hold office.
It is amazing at how resourceful the liberal media has become in making every event into a test of Trump skills as President. In the run up to Hurricane Florence's landfall, the press focused on Trump's ability to manage the coming disaster. The hurricane was still 700 miles out at sea, and the press was only interested in setting things up so that any loss of life would mean Trump had failed in his duty.
The greatest indication that true journalism is dead in America is the willingness to sacrifice truth in order to create a new narrative. When a news story is found to be in error, it has long been vitally important to publish a correction.
CNN was recently caught in a lie when it reported that lawyer Lanny Davis had told them that Michael Cohen, Trump's longtime personal lawyer, claimed he was willing to tell special counsel Robert Mueller that then-candidate Trump knew in advance about the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower. When Lanny Davis admitted this was not true, CNN refused to back down, saying, "CNN stands by its story." Going forward, CNN will make up their own version of the news and then cherry pick the facts to establish it.
The credibility of NBC has been called into question over its handling of Ronan Farrow's Harvey Weinstein story. NBC had claimed that, when Farrow came to them with the story, he didn't have anyone willing to go on record with the allegations. Farrow eventually took the story to The New Yorker and published it there. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his work. We now learn from NBC producers that Farrow had Rose McGowan as an eager witness. NBC killed the story and lied about it, most likely because it feared Weinstein may have dirt on brass at NBC.
In case there was any doubt about the meltdown of journalism, is the left bringing Dan Rather back from exile? Rather comes on TV and says, "The president of the United States is not the descendant of some Sun god" and "He is basically saying he is above the law." In a series of online posts, Mr. Rather tells people "how to protect yourself from fake news," which of course all comes from conservative sites.
Rather was one of television's most prominent journalists, putting in nearly 24 years at CBS. But in the eyes of some viewers, he is remembered for his discredited story in 2004 that claimed, using clearly folly documents, that President George W. Bush made efforts to avoid service in Vietnam. After being fired from his anchor job, he left CBS the next year. What has allowed Dan Rather to crawl back into the news limelight is that the field of journalism has declined to the level he reached in 2004.
The complete madness of the liberal media is a strong indication of how close we are to the rapture event. Since they will be doing Satan's bidding during the tribulation hour, their total readiness to serve in the ultimate delusion means that time is short.
"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness" (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12).
Of Hate and Violence - Bill Wilson -
Leftist resistance leader Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) was honored Friday night by the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) with their National Leadership Award. The platform gave Waters yet another opportunity to call for violence against President Donald Trump. She said in accepting the award, "There are those who say, 'What if we get rid of him? Then we've got that Vice President and he'll be worse.' I say knock off the first one and then go after the second one.'" The leftists are those who are constantly before the media expressing their fears that Trump supporters, which they generally believe to be Nazis, will commit violence against them for their beliefs. Yet the opposite is true.
Waters and others have consistently used their speech to incite violence against supporters of the President. Waters has called for the harassment of Trump supporters and Administration officials at gas stations, restaurants and even at their homes. This type of rhetoric has been a hallmark of the so-called "resistance movement" since before Trump took office. Antifa and other leftist radical groups have committed violence against Trump supporters. Celebrities have called for the assassination of Trump. Trump supporters have been labeled racists, bigots, homophobes, Islamophobes, misogynists, xenophobes and just about every other hateful descriptor.
Democratic Presidential hopeful, and former Vice President, Joe Biden told the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, a radical gay rights organization, that Trump supporters were "virulent people, some of them the dregs of society." Remember in September 2016, Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said, "You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic - you name it....Now some of those folks, they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America." These types of remarks are doing exactly what they are designed to do-cause violence, by the followers of those who are raising the fear of violence against themselves.
Breitbart News' John Nolte has documented 567 acts of violence and threats of violence against perceived Trump supporters since September 2015. Many of them called for the assassination of Trump and/or his supporters, others included vandalized property, physical assaults, bomb threats, pepper spray, handgun assaults, threats of mass shootings and more. Yet these are the people expressing fear that Trump supporters are violent, dregs of society. If there were acts like these against liberals, believe me, you would hear about it repeatedly. Like in so many cases, the narrative is untrue. As Peter warned in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour." Let us stand and speak boldly the truth against this vitriol. Your adversary, the devil is behind it.
On the Move - By Daymond Duck -
I was in bed and it was about the same time that I wake up every morning.
Our TV was on and two guests were debating the hearings on Brett Kavanaugh, Pres. Trump's nominee for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.
One guest said, "They don't really believe those things they are saying. They are just trying to rile up their base."
I thought: casting the truth to the ground, deceit, false accusations, and hating others are signs that the end of the age is near, and these sins are now an acceptable tactic to "rile up the base" (Dan. 8:12; Matt. 24:4-11; II Tim.3:3).
I got out of bed thinking: it is tragic for our nation, and I have never seen it this bad before.
A host said it is time for the news, and a reporter said Tesla stock plunged more than 6% yesterday following the live appearance of Elon Musk smoking marijuana on a YouTube program the night before.
I thought: that is just one company, but an economic decline and drug use are signs of the Tribulation Period.
That was followed by a story of a panel advising the Texas State Board of Education to stop teaching students that the defenders of the Alamo were "heroic."
I thought: that is PC nonsense and they are trying to replace patriotism and nationalism with globalism.
I am not against legal immigration, but God created nations and borders, and Satan is behind the World Government movement (Gen. 11).
I realized that it was Saturday morning and the Feast of Trumpets would begin at sundown Sunday night and end at sundown Tuesday night (Israel time); and I asked myself if it was possible that the Rapture could be less than 72 hours from now?
I wondered if anyone would be expecting the Rapture on Tuesday because Jesus said He will come back at a time when no one is expecting it.
It occurred to me that in a couple of hours I would be meeting with friends that love Bible prophecy and I needed to get my mind on what I am going to say.
I went to my desk to look over my notes and saw an article by Rabbi Tuly Weisz.
In essence, Rabbi Weisz said the Creation Story is the first story in the Bible because God wants everyone to know that He created the world, it belongs to Him, and He can do whatever He wants to do with it.
I will add that possibly the second story in the Bible is that Satan corrupted everyone on earth except for eight people, so God destroyed it with a Flood.
God wants us to know that He created this world and He has the power to destroy this world, if He chooses to do so.
Rabbi Weisz noted that another big story that appears early in the Bible is the beginning of the nation of Israel.
God made a covenant that says all of the land of Israel will go through Abraham and the descendants of Isaac, not Ishmael.
So, it doesn't matter what the world believes because the Creator of the world and the One that destroyed it with a Flood will have the final word, and Israel will get all of the Promised Land even if God has to send the Tribulation Period.
The next note on my list concerned the birth of a red heifer without blemish and spot in Israel, "paving the way for re-establishing the Temple service and marking the final stage of redemption" (provided it is perfect when it becomes 3 years old).
I read that there is speculation that there might not have been a red heifer for the last 2,000 years because God was not ready for the Temple to be rebuilt; but now that a red heifer has been born in Israel, we should ask if our generation is the one that needs one.
A friend and I speculated that this is interesting timing because Israel has been in existence for 70 years, Pres. Trump is pushing his peace proposal, the Battle of Gog and Magog could be looming, a Muslim defeat in the Battle of Gog and Magog could open the door for rebuilding the Temple, etc.
I continued to look at my notes: If Syria uses chemical weapons at Idlib, the destruction of Damascus and the Battle of Gog and Magog could be looming; a 6.7 earthquake in Japan; 9 inches of rain in Manhattan, KS in one night; God said the towns in Israel would be rebuilt, and there are now 1,215 towns in Israel, etc., etc.
God is on the move and people need to be ready.
