Why Trump was right to walk away from the nuke talks with North Korea.

Though he was sharply criticized by the media and many foreign policy analysts for a "failed" summit in Hanoi, President Donald J. Trump was absolutely right to walk away from talks that were going in the wrong direction.

 

Given Trump's penchant for publicity, it might have been easy - tempting, even - for him to have accepted a far-from-perfect offer from the Dear Leader of Pyongyang, held a joint press conference, and claimed victory in hopes of winning the news cycle.

 

But it became apparent to the president - along with his chief aides Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton - that Kim Jong Un has not yet truly decided to dismantle his illegal nuclear weapons program in return for sanctions relief, security guarantees and international economic assistance.

 

Trump knew the deal's flaws would have been quickly exposed. What's more, he knew that appearing too eager to cut a deal with a regime that already has upwards of 60 operational nuclear warheads would have cut against his "Art of the Deal" brand, and further undermined American credibility and leverage so badly squandered during the Obama-Biden years.

 

"Sometimes you have to walk, and this was just one of those times," Trump said.

 

I have not always agreed with Trump's policies or public statements, but in this case I can honestly say, "Good for him."

 

What a contrast to the approach taken by President Barack Obama. The liberal Democrat from Chicago famously won glorious headlines and international accolades in 2015 for agreeing to the infamous nuclear deal with Iran known formally as the "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action." Some wags at the time even suggested the deal helped to "retroactively justify" the Nobel Peace Prize that Obama won in 2009.

 

Yet the JCPOA was fatally flawed from the beginning. It did not prevent Iran from enriching uranium. It did not require Iran to scrap its nuclear industry. It did not provide for surprise international inspections of all Iranian nuclear and military sites. Nor will it prevent Iran from one day building an ever-expanding arsenal of nuclear warheads. Rather, at best, it merely delays that fateful moment for a 10 to 15 years, three years of which have already ticked by.

 

If this weren't bad enough, the JCPOA did nothing to bring a halt to Iran's feverish efforts to build ballistic missiles with ever-increasing ranges. Nor did it bring a halt to Iran's military and financial support for terrorist organizations, from Hezbollah to Hamas to the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Nor did its negotiators even try to achieve these aims.

 

For these and myriad other reasons, Trump and his advisers scrapped the JCPOA in May 2018, and re-imposed crippling economic sanctions on the Iranian regime.

 

THERE WAS no way, then, that Trump was going to show weakness in Hanoi. He knew full well the Iranians were watching very closely and was determined to ratchet up the pressure on both the Iranians and the North Koreans, to give up their dangerous quests for nuclear warheads and the missiles to deliver them, or face devastating consequences.

 

There is another element at play here of which few Americans are aware.

 

For years, Tehran and Pyongyang have been working together closely on a variety of military matters. There is no question they are assisting each other's ballistic missile programs, and have been since the 1980s. But are they also secretly cooperating on the development of nuclear warheads?

 

The premise at the heart of my forthcoming political thriller, The Persian Gamble, is this: What if Tehran decided to use the $150 billion in cash it received from the West for agreeing to the Iran nuclear deal to secretly purchase five fully operational nuclear warheads from the cash-starved regime in Pyongyang, even while publicly pretending to adhere to the JCPOA? Might the ayatollahs try to bring such warheads into an Iranian harbor, right under the noses of the CIA and the Mossad? It would be an enormously risky move. But it is conceivable they could conclude the gamble was worth it.

 

American, Israeli and Arab intelligence officials I spoke with as I was researching and writing the novel say they have not seen evidence that Iran is literally trying to buy operational warheads "off the shelf." Not yet, anyway.

 

However, they note with concern the fact that senior Iranian military and nuclear officials have been present for at least three North Korean nuclear warhead tests, and maybe more. They acknowledge it is conceivable that Pyongyang could be selling Tehran the data from each of these tests, helping the Iranians fine-tune plans to build their own warheads without having to test them during the period of the JCPOA.

 

"I have no doubt the proliferation tie between Iran and North Korea is real and active," one former senior US intelligence official told me.

 

The prospect of the world's two most dangerous rogue regimes teaming up to build the world's most deadly weapons - along with the ICBMs to deliver them into American and Israeli cities - would be chilling enough if it was only fiction. The prospect that any of this could actually be true in real life makes me all the more glad President Trump is getting tough with both regimes when his predecessor did not.

A closed-door meeting of House Democratic Congressmen revealed a stark and decisive move by the party toward communism as supported by Democratic Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Ocasio-Cortez was outraged by Democrats who sided with Republicans in amending a bill to require undocumented immigrants (illegal aliens) who try to buy guns to be reported to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She threatened to put the wayward Democrat moderates (who are leftists in the first place) on a list to be challenged by Democratic Socialists in the next election. Think about this-Democrats are for gun control, yet they want illegal immigrants to be armed.

 

In an atmosphere where Democrats are accusing Republicans of not wanting to work together to solve the nations problems, behind closed doors, the Dems are arguing that none of them should be allowed to support any Republican initiative. Those who do should be disciplined, they say. BUT THIS IS NOT THE REAL STORY. The real story is that there is a tremendous shift toward communism in the Democratic Party, led by Democratic Socialists such as Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT), Ocasio-Cortez and others. They are supporting aggressive disruption, revolution and even violence. The idea that they want illegals crossing the border to be able to buy guns in America is a sure sign of what's ahead.

 

Look no further than the Democratic Socialists plans to elect Sanders president and to support congressional candidates of their party, which is a communist party offshoot. Quoting from their now public campaign strategy document, the Democratic Socialists plan to organize youth into radical platoons "intended to help imbue the (Sanders) campaign with an organized socialist, anti-racist, and anti-imperialist contingent as well as connecting YDSA (Young Democratic Socialists of America) militants to a genuine mass movement through which they can organize alongside a broader layer of progressive and working class youth." Can anyone say Antifa, La Raza, New Black Panthers or name other violent radical militant organizations?

 

According to the leftists, guns in the hands of people who resist communism is a bad thing; guns in the hands of people who want to foment revolution as manipulated by the communists is a good thing. This is the dangerous hypocrisy of the progressive (socialist, communist) movement in America that has blossomed as mainstream in the Democratic Party. Obstruction, disruption, hate-bating, and even violence, are all part of the plan we see playing out every day in the media. As Ephesians 5:11-says, "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Every action and intention of these evil-doers needs to be reproved, not giving them any benefit of the doubt.

 

House passes anti-hate bill, WHAT? - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com

 

Led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) the Democrat-led House of Representatives passed an anti-hate resolution (407-23) ostensibly in response to Islamic Marxist representative Ilhan Omar's (D-MN) remarks against Jews and Israel. Originally about anti-Semitism, the Marxist Democrats couldn't help adding in more division and class warfare by including Muslims, Latinos, Asian-Americans, homosexuals, lesbians, bi-sexuals, and transgenders as people who cannot be hated. Let's see, who did they miss? Oh, yes, it's Ok to hate Christians and white men. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said he was "shocked" that the bill "refused to similarly condemn discrimination against Caucasian Americans and Christians."

 

All but 23 Republicans voted for the resolution. Who can blame them? They don't need campaign commercials by their socialist opponents claiming that they supported hate. But hate it is. For the Marxists to leave out Caucasians and Christians signals that it's fine to direct hate toward these people. But in another twist, what started as a rebuke against Islamist Omar's bigoted remarks against Israel and Jews somehow turned into a resolution condemning all sorts of anti-Muslim bigotry. The resolution "acknowledges the harm suffered by Muslims and others from the harassment, discrimination, and violence that result from anti-Muslim bigotry; condemns anti-Muslim discrimination and bigotry against all minorities as contrary to the values of the United States."

 

The "Whereas" section of the resolution looks like a rap sheet of crimes in America against all sorts of people. One of them states, "Whereas Muslims and people perceived to be Muslim are subjected to false and dangerous stereotypes and myths including unfair allegations that they sympathize with individuals who engage in violence or terror or support the oppression of women, Jews and other vulnerable communities." What? Have they read the Quran? Have these people heard what Omar and her Islamist colleagues have said, and who they are associating with? Yet they are passing over the bigotry that their own Marxist Democrats have done or, even worse, are doing. This is nothing short of demagoguery.

 

If the Marxists in Congress wanted to sincerely stand against hate, all they really had to do was encourage people to "do unto others as you would have them do to you (Luke 6:31)." Or "love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31)." These words suffice as rules of life, values to cherish, good citizenship. They don't divide. They don't create class or racial struggle. They don't create hate while condemning it. But NO. These Marxists in Congress couldn't do something so kind and simple because those are the words of Christ-the followers of whom it's OK to hate. It's as Titus 1:16 says, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." Passing an anti-hate bill that protects the haters-what?
