Progressive's own study warns against socialism - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
Many in the Democratic Party are trying to appeal to younger voters by promising a universal income and free college tuition. They are playing to the data that growing numbers of Millennials and Gen Z support socialism. This is a long-game politically because polls indicate that nearly 60% of Americans believe that socialism is not compatible with American values. That same Monmouth University Poll confirmed those under age 35 are 71% neutral or negative on capitalism. The younger voters are swinging far left in their political ideology. This is problematic when there is empirical evidence that socialism impoverishes populations, and takes away rights of free speech and religious freedom. But there is more.
A recent study conducted by New Economics Foundation, supported by Public Services International a pro-union organization that represents over 20 million public service workers, shows that one of socialism's basic underpinnings-universal minimum income-is an abject failure in bringing income equality and reversing poverty. The study, Universal Basic Income-A Union Perspective, surmises, "At the heart of the critique of UBIs contained in this brief is the failure of the most basic principle of progressive tax and expenditure, which can be summarized as "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need"...The estimates of funds required to provide a UBI at anything other than token levels are well in excess of the entire welfare budget of most countries."
The study of 14 Universal Basic Income schemes, or what is called minimum income, revealed it's really a bad idea. It says, "Making cash payments to individuals to increase their purchasing power in a free-market economy is not a viable route to solving problems caused or exacerbated by neoliberal market economics; There is no evidence that any version of UBI can be affordable, inclusive, sufficient and sustainable at the same time; There is no evidence that UBI will help to increase the bargaining power of workers and trade unions or solve problems of low pay and precarious work." Still, the report persists, "We must not alienate the majority of UBI proponents who genuinely seek to build political power to tackle inequality, support the welfare state, deal with precarious work and fund public services."
Bottom line is that socialism/communism doesn't work. We see the historical evidence of it everywhere it is tried. As William Bradford described the Pilgrim's failed socialist experiment in "Of Plymouth Plantation": "The experience that was had in this common course and condition...may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato's and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing, as if they were wiser than God." In ending the socialist experiment that nearly ended the colony, Bradford wrote: "...God in his wisdom saw another course fitter for them." The first commandment, Exodus 20:1 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." That includes government. Moreover, Bradford is still right. Man is not wiser than God.

When will all the lying come to an end? Now we have Democratic Party liars calling the Attorney General and the President liars. Trouble is that the news media is only reporting what people are saying rather than writing about the truth of what is happening. They are so caught up in trying to convict someone of something that they are missing the point. But, then again, they are part of the entire coup-machine that is hammering the public. The pith of the problem is that Democratic Party leadership paid for a false dossier on candidate Donald Trump and used it to get secret FISA Court approval to spy on the Trump Campaign. Operatives in the FBI were working to undermine the Trump presidency even before it took office.
All this came out in the Wednesday hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee when Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) cut to the chase, saying that deep state bureaucrats like former FBI agent Peter Strzok tried to overturn the results of the 2016 election by launching a Russian collusion investigation into the Trump campaign. Hawley said: "In my view, you want to know what's really going on here? You want to know why the counterintelligence investigation really happened? You want to know why we're all really sitting here today?... It's because an unelected bureaucrat--an unelected official in this government who clearly has open disdain if not outright hatred for Trump voters, like the people of my state for instance...then tried to overturn the results of a democratic election, that's what's really gone on here. That's the story."
He continued, "That's why we're here today. I cannot believe that a top official of this government with the kind of power that these people had would exercise their own prejudices, and that's what this is--it's open, blatant prejudice--would try to use that and try to overturn a democratic election, and to my mind, that's the real crisis here, and it is a crisis. Because if there's not accountability--if this can go on in the United States of America, then my goodness gracious, we don't have a democracy anymore." Senator Hawley has nailed it. The essence of all the lying, accusing, and visceral boils down to one side was trying to take over with a very specific brand of politics that is against the founding principles of this country.
People still do not understand the significance of this. The media is drowning out clear thought with its outrageous noise. The strategy is to break you down with anger, a sense of betrayal, and confusion. Are these things of God? 1 Corinthians 14:33 tells us that "God is not the author of confusion, but of peace" and by this we know that we need to be sober and vigilant because our adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We as Christians are in a fight for the very soul of this nation. We need to discern when liars are calling others liars. We need to engage with people to plant a seed for the Lord, or water it, or disciple it. We need to pray and act.

Saturday, I was honored to speak to nearly 200 folks at the 25thAnniversary celebration of Capitol Hill Prayer Partners about the state of the nation. Here is the text of my remarks: The state of the nation is a tale of darkness and of light. Never before in history, certainly during my lifetime, have things been so visceral. The forces of darkness label anyone who disagrees with them as haters, bigots, racists, homophobes, Islamophobes, misogynists or any other "phobe" or "ist." All the while this same small army daily demonstrates their own hate, ideological bigotry, and intolerance. They are a minority, but their voices are amplified across their mainstream media propaganda machine.
They mock God, demean traditional values, debase morals, and judge Christians as uneducated, gun-toting, Bible-banging bigots. While claiming to be the victims, they victimize all who disagree. Their allies in the deep state worked and are working with them to overturn and do away with the foundational principles upon which this nation was so blessed. These same forces of darkness seek to foment a neo-communist revolution to overthrow this nation and your way of life. And many good people sit back and watch; they go to their churches and think they are doing good; and they are not concerned about this new brand of communism because God is greater and God is in control.
Be not deceived. Yes, God is in control, but he chooses to work through his people to make up a wall, and stand in the gap to overcome evil-That is why we pray; that is why we act, otherwise the darkness grows darker, and the light, dimmer. Why is this communism a threat? Have you ever read the Communist Manifesto? The Communist Manifesto says, in part, "But communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis; it therefore acts in contradiction to all past historical experience." This is a direct attack on Christianity. It is a direct attack on our Nation. It is a direct attack on the inalienable rights endowed each of us by our Creator.
This is a very active and real coup attempt by Democrats, some Republicans, the deep state within the FBI, CIA and State Department, and most of the news media. This is the state of the nation that is the tale of darkness. It should shake us to the very core. You see, the state of our nation is a tale of darkness and a tale of light. We have seen the darkness. But what did Christ say about darkness? He said you are the light of the world and that a candle gives light to all who are in the house. Many I talk to are angry about this situation. They feel helpless to address it. But address it we must. We are charged to overcome evil with good. We are exhorted to love God with all of our heart, and love our neighbor as ourselves.
The conversation to change must start somewhere. We have Christ. We have the answer. We must engage. Romans 13:12 says, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." We are the light. We are the part of the state of our nation that is yet to be written. This is my prayer: Father God, let it be written, for those who read about the past, that it was us, those of us here today, who defeated the darkness. Let us speak boldly as we ought to speak. Let us obey God rather than men. Let us pray. Let us act. Let us, having taken on the whole armor of God, and having done all, Let us stand. Let our testimony and good service unto God become the state of the nation. Amen.
