Tensions are rising, troops are on the move, and tanks are poised to fire. What arewe to make of the rapidly intensifying conflict between Vladimir Putin and the Wagner Group? Perhaps the most important principle to keep in mind when trying to understand world events is this: It is not about what it is about. In other words, things are seldom asthey appear. Usually, there is some greater agenda, deeper meaning, or hidden scheme at play. “The wicked man does deceptive work” (Proverbs 11:18). The Luciferian elite, working at the behest of Satan to usher in a New World Order, are infused with deception. Like their father the devil, they are liars who speak fromtheir own resources (John 8:44). Whenever thoughts form in their minds, lies flow from their lips. We must learn never to take current events at face value. The controlled mainstream media, whether wittingly or unwittingly, aids and abets the Luciferians by advancing theirfalse narratives. Such is the case with the recent upheaval in Russia. The armed rebellion by the Wagner Group, a private Russian mercenary organization led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, is by no means organic. It did not just “happen.” It goes way beyondregional conflicts and political disagreements. There is almost always a battle behind the battle. It is too early to tell how these events may relate to Bible prophecy, but given the players involved, this uprising in Russia likely will have significant propheticimplications. I have studied geopolitical events for many years as part of a larger deep dive into the inner workings of the Satanic cabal that is trying to take over the world. This latestcoup by the Wagner Group has all the marks of a CIA-backed color revolution, only this time the color is olive drab. Of course, given the layers of deception involved in the Luciferian Conspiracy, it is also possible this is merely a psyop aimed at coaxingNATO into a major war. After all, the Luciferian elite have been trying to bring down the United States for more than a century. They see America as the one nation still standing in the way of aone-world system. As I have talked and written about for years, their goal is to lure America into a global conflict that will lead ultimately to us surrendering our national sovereignty to the globalists. With pressures mounting between Prigozhin and Putin, could NATO be drawn into the conflict? Could the battle expand and result in U.S. troops joining the fray? Could Putinuse nukes, which would almost certainly create a WWIII scenario? These questions and more are running through the minds of world leaders and military strategists across the globe. For believers, there is something else that should be in the forefront of our minds during unsettling times like this. When nations rage and kingdoms fight, God’s Word remindsus, “He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire” (Psalm 46:9). Therefore, we should “be still and know that He is God” (Psalm 46:10). The Hebrew word translated “be still” is one word in Hebrew, a verb that means “cease striving.” Nations and mercenaries may strive with one another in military conflicts,but God’s people need not strive. We can rest in knowing that God is working out His prophetic plan precisely as He told us He would. He promised us in His Word, “I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10)! One day, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace will return, take His rightful throne, and put an end to all wars (Isaiah 9:6-7; Matthew 25:31). He will usher in an era of unprecedentedpeace, righteousness, and justice. When Christ comes back, man’s striving will cease once and for all. Until then, let us “set our minds on things above, not on things on earth” (Colossians 3:2). For, “our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior,the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20). -------------------------------- Lessons From a Russian Gambit � Jonathan Brentner - https://www.jonathanbrentner.com/https/jonathan-brentner-g8fgsquarespacecom/config/2023/6/26/the-russian-gambit Last Saturday, June 24, just when it looked as though Yevgeny Prigozhin and his Wagner group were about to engage in a bloody conflict with forces loyal to Putin, the leaderof Russia, the situation suddenly and mysteriously changed. It was then I realized that I had been far too hasty in writing about the situation. I had fallen prey to Russian gambit that had played out before the eyes of the world. Until last week, I had never heard about the Wagner Group or Yevgeny Prigozhin. For those like me, below is a brief summary that I found on Telegram of the group as well aswhat ensued on June 23 leading up to the crisis. The Wagner Group is a private military company under the control of Yevgeny Prigozhin that cut its teeth in deployments to Crimea and eastern Ukraine�s Donbas region in 2014and has since dispatched troops to several conflicts in the Middle East and Africa, including the Syrian Civil War. In Russia�s invasion of Ukraine, Wagner has proved indispensable, but an apparent power struggle between the Kremlin and the outspoken Mr. Prigozhin has led to the group havingits wings clipped by Moscow. The friction escalated to a crisis point on Friday, 23 June, when Mr. Prigozhin accused his country�s defense ministry, Sergei Shoigu, of �destroying� his fighters and concoctinglies to justify the invasion of Ukraine. Mr. Prigozhin called for armed mutiny in an explosive rant on Telegram in which he vowed to stop the �evil� of the Kremlin�s top brass. WHAT HAPPENED? The question that lingers on many minds is this, �What happened?� Why did Prigozhin suddenly and inexplicably call off the coup? The story we heard at the time was that the President of Belarus, Aleksandr G. Lukashenko, intervened and mediated a deal between Prigozhin and Vladimir Putin that satisfiedboth sides and immediately eased the tensions. The promised changes at the Russian ministry of defense satisfied Prigozhin as he desired the removal of it head, Sergei Shoigu, which happened after the agreement was reached. Prigozhin issued a statement to the effect that he didn�t want the great bloodshed that would ensue from an attack. Are we to believe this was a sudden realization and thusa valid concern? Many remain unsatisfied with the possible explanations as to why Prigozhin so quickly changed course and retreated from his advance on the Kremlin. WAS IT A RUSE? It�s my opinion that it was a gambit with Putin knowing well in advance what Prigozhin would do; both sides in the conspiracy used the appearance of a coup to their advantage. It�s the details of how this came about that remain fuzzy. One theory is that Vladimir Putin allowed it to happen so he could see who truly supported him and who did not. And that certainly happened; Putin is now in a stronger positionas the leader of Russia than before the coup attempt and has greater support for the war in Ukraine. Some suggest that the CIA in America, with help from the Ukrainian secret service, paid Prigozhin a great sum of money to stage the rebellion hoping it would mean the endof Vladimir Putin. He thus pretended to go through it with the full knowledge of Putin, but suddenly stopped knowing that he had become very rich while still remaining loyal to Putin. This fits with what we know of the CIA, but we have no solid evidence supportingthis. Amir Tsarfati believes there�s a good possibility that the Wagner Group now possesses tactical nuclear weapons. It was shortly after the group took over the base with no resistancethat Prigozhin ended the coup, which adds to his suspicions of what happened. Amir warned that the Wagner Group might have these weapons and use them in Ukraine with Putin able to claim that it wasn�t him, but rather someone who tried to remove himfrom power. Are Putin and Prigozhin still adversaries as the ongoing statements from the Russian president suggest? Or were they co-conspirators in a plot to enhance each other�s positionand advance the war in Ukraine and still united in purpose despite what we hear? I don�t know the answer to these questions, but I�m convinced that the appearance of a coup doesn�t tell the full story of all that happened last Saturday. LESSONS LEARNED Here are the lessons I learned from far too quickly putting my ideas in print. First, I�m reminded that appearances will often deceive us in these last days. Because there�s so much going on behind the scenes with the deep state in America and the globalistsat the UN and World Economic Forum (WEF), it�s frequently impossible to accurately interpret current events based on just what we see and hear. Satan, the master of deceit, is constantly working through his minions to deceive and subject people to his tyranny. Jesus warned that deception would mark the last days (Matthew 24:4). Second, the Russian gambit reinforces the importance of possessing an accurate understanding of biblical prophecy. The world may deceive us at times, but a knowledge of whatthe Bible says about the day in which we live will go a long ways in averting deception as well as preserve our sanity. We know the end of the story and the joyous eternity that lies ahead for us as New Testament saints. Third, it has reinforced my awareness that our enemy is working overtime to deceive us and in the process make us look foolish. He is fiercely attacking believers knowinghis time is short. I have learned anew not to overlook his ploys and deadly ambitions. He is a liar and during the Tribulation he will deceive great multitudes of people. We live in biblical times; Jesus is coming for His church in the near future. The Rapture could happen today. Is it not increasingly difficult waiting for it to happen amidall the lawlessness and deception around us? Many, including myself, were watching in shock and disbelief as this mercenary army called the Wagner Group was marching toward Moscow, comingwithin 120 miles of the capital. All kinds of military experts, as well as experts on Russia and geopolitics, were trying to dissect what was happening. Then as suddenly as it all began, it all inexplicably dissipated. We were all left wondering� what in the world was going on here? The Wagner Group This Wagner group is led by a man named Yevgeny Prigozhin, who has been leading this mercenary army for several years. The name of this group, Wagner, comes from a composer that Hitler loved in the 19th century, a terrible anti-Semite whose name was Richard Wagner. Dmitry Utkin, the co-leaderof this Wagner group with Prigozhin, is a Nazi sympathizer who wears clothing with swastikas and often signs documents with the Nazi symbol �SS.� The Wagner Group is a private military company (PMC) with approximately 50,000 members that were in Ukraine. About 40,000 of the 50,000 members are convicts. Basically, theWagner group cleaned out the prisons, and they became part of this PMC. Therefore, it�s a very loosely organized, poorly disciplined, and brutal group. The Wagner group has been fighting in North Africa. They�ve been in Syria. The United States Department of Treasury has declared them to be a transnational criminal organization.Furthermore, this bloodthirsty group has been doing a lot of the dirty work and fighting in Ukraine. What Happened? What happened was a feud between the leader of this Russian mercenary army Yevgeny Prigozhin and Russian military leaders. Finally, it festered into a mutiny. It�s been calleda revolt, an armed insurrection, a rebellion, a coup, and the beginnings of a civil war. Prigozhin called this the March of Justice. As this was unfolding, all kinds of theories about what was happening were swirling around. Many of you reading likely have heard these as you watch cable news channels orwherever you get your news. Some people were saying that this was a planned rebellion, that Prigozhin and Putin were in cahoots together and staging all of this to lure Ukraine into taking foolish actionthey could then retaliate against. Some people still believe that it was planned or orchestrated. Other people were saying that this was Putin�s last stand. Putin was finished, and this army was going to march all the way to Moscow. Putin would be overtaken in a coup,and Prigozhin would then become the leader of Russia. Then as quickly as this mutiny flared up came, it fizzled out. It was a bizarre, inexplicable turn of events. I�d watched the news earlier in the day about what was happening,got busy doing some other things, and came back expecting to see this march continuing to Moscow. But suddenly, it was over. We learned that there had been a deal brokered by the Belarusian President, Aleksandr Lukashenko, between Putin and Prigozhin. The Deal was for Prigozhin to be exiled to Belarusand have protection. Prigozhin backed down, and the coup was averted. The world has been left reeling in the wake of all of this, scratching their heads, wondering� what just happened and what is going to take place in the future? Certainly, there will be major repercussions from this, but it is also very significant from a prophetic perspective, specifically relating to the Gog Magog coalition of Ezekiel38-39. I want to answer two basic questions, what we don�t know and what we do know. What We Don�t Know: Why did Prigozhin halt the march to Moscow? The Wagner group was 120 miles away. It looked as though he could have gone on in and maybe taken Moscow. There are different theories about this. Some will say he lost his nerve, realizing what he was up against. Maybe it was a larger force than he anticipated. Some, again, saythis was all pre-planned, so he stops this because it was all arranged with Putin ahead of time to try to gain some advantages. Prigozhin, himself, said he did it because he didn�t want to kill Russians. There�s another theory that makes a lot of sense to me, and that is that they may have kidnapped or threatened his family. Russia and Putin routinely do this. Will Putin face more challenges? Has Putin been so diminished and permanently weakened that he will face more challenges? Is this the beginning of the end for him? Are there some structural weaknesses inhis government that others will rise up and take advantage of? Do people in Russia now all of a sudden have this idea that they can back somebody else to put Putin out of power? Will Prigozhin stay in Belarus or make another move? While watching someone the other day, they explained that if they were Prigozhin, they would stay away from open windows! Certainly, I think there will be attempts to assassinatehim. But will he try to make another move? Prigozhin doesn�t seem like a man who would stand down in his ambitions. Will Putin become even more dangerous? Right now, Putin is wounded, vulnerable, and seems to feel cornered. It was said that while this march was taking place, there was panic in the Kremlin. Will Putin lash outin this and seek more extreme ways to turn the war in Ukraine around in his favor? Will there be an increased threat of nuclear war? Is it possible that Putin could blow up the occupied nuclear plant in Ukraine, which many people believe is part of his agenda? We already know he has transferred nuclearweapons to Belarus, where Prigozhin was exiled. This is the first time Russia has sent its nuclear weapons to another country. This transfer, which Belarusian President Lukashenko has been bragging about, is going to be completed by the end of the summer. Will this push NATO to invite Ukraine into membership? Ukraine is stepping up calls for NATO to officially recognize their country and admit them to membership in NATO. That would cause all kinds of problems, escalation and wouldtrigger events that could further set the stage for the end times. What We Do Know: This was evil versus evil. Both Prigozhin and Putin are bloodthirsty, brutal, strong men. There were no good guys in this. We know Biblically that an evil ruler, �Gog,� will lead a coalition attempting to invade Israel. Gog will rise from Russia, and any of these brutal men could fit that bill.This is an evil versus evil situation. There would have been no winners in this. In fact, Prigozhin may even be worse than Putin, and he could have gotten his hands on the world�s largest stockpile of nuclear weapons. This further solidified and galvanized the Russian alliance with Turkey and Iran. The big three in the Ezekiel 38 Gog coalition are Russia, Turkey, and Iran. Turkey and Iran immediately rushed to Putin�s defense, pledging their full support for VladimirPutin. This event strengthened and cemented their ties even further. The US is strengthening support for Ukraine in the wake of this. On Thursday, a new $500 million assistance package from the United States to Ukraine was announced. America and Western countries are seizing the opportunity, seeing an openingto deal a death blow to Vladimir Putin�s efforts. Russia will continue its aggression. Russia is going to continue to dominate global and world headlines. Four of the five places mentioned in the Ezekiel 38 Gog coalition are players in all of this. The Wagnergroup was very active in Libya, one of the nations in Ezekiel 38 referred to as �Put.� Additionally, you have Russia, which is �Gog and Magog,� Turkey, and Iran. There may be a lot of twists and turns in the future, but the basic matrix of events that the Bible predicts in the future, that coalition of nations, is meshing together.All these things we see happening are further connecting the prophetic and end-time dots.
