Happy Resurrection Day!

Happy Resurrection Day!

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

We pray that each and every one of you has a blessed and joyous Easter.

Finished!

Finished! - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org

When Jesus had tasted it, he said, "It is finished!" Then he bowed his head and released his spirit. -John 19:30

The cross was the goal of Jesus from the very beginning. His birth was so there would be His death. The incarnation was for our atonement. He was born to die so that we might live. And when He had accomplished the purpose He had come to fulfill, He summed it up with a single word: "finished."

In the original Greek, it was a common word. Jesus probably used it after He finished a project that He and Joseph might have been working on together in the carpentry shop. Jesus might have turned to Joseph and said, "Finished. Now let's go have lunch." It is finished. Mission accomplished. It is done. It is made an end of.

So what was finished? Finished and completed were the horrendous sufferings of Christ. Never again would He experience pain at the hand of wicked men. Never again would He have to bear the sins of the world. Never again would He, even for a moment, be forsaken of God. That was completed. That was taken care of.

Also finished was Satan's stronghold on humanity. Jesus came to deal a decisive blow against the devil and his demons at the cross of Calvary. Hebrews 2:14 says, "Only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death." This means that you no longer have to be under the power of sin. Because of Jesus' accomplishment at the cross, finished was the stronghold of Satan on humanity.

And lastly, finished was our salvation. It is completed. It is done. All of our sins were transferred to Jesus when He hung on the cross. His righteousness was transferred to our account.

So Jesus cried out the words, "It is finished!" It was God's deliberate and well-thought-out plan. It is finished-so rejoice!

Easter Brings Hope

Easter Brings Hope - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." -John 11:25

Easter is not about brightly colored eggs, wearing pastels, or enjoying a big meal, although it could include these. Easter is about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

For some, Easter will be a great day, spent surrounded by family and friends. But for others, it will be a sad day, because Easter is a reminder of a loved one who has died and is now desperately missed.

Death seems so cruel, so harsh, and so final. That is what the disciples were feeling when they saw their Lord, whom they had left everything to follow, hanging on the cross. They were devastated. Death had crushed them. But if they would have gone back in their memories, they would have recalled an important event and statement Jesus had made.

They would have remembered Jesus standing at the tomb of his close friend Lazarus. They would have remembered that Jesus did something completely unexpected: He wept (see John 11:35). Jesus wept, because He knew that death was not part of God's original plan. Humanity was not meant to grow old, to suffer with disease, or to die. But because of the sin of Adam and Eve, sin entered the human race, and death followed with it. And death spread to all of us. Jesus wept, because it broke His heart.

But standing there at Lazarus' tomb, Jesus also delivered these hope-filled words: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live" (John 11:25). Death is not the end. And the resurrection of Jesus Christ proves it.

If you have put your faith in Christ, then Easter means that you will live forever in the presence of God. Easter brings hope to the person who has been devastated by death.

Americans Skeptical of God but Think Heaven Is Real, Somehow

Americans Skeptical of God but Think Heaven Is Real, Somehow - By Joshua A. Krisch - http://www.vocativ.com/news/299168/americans-pray-think-heaven-is-real/

Since 1980, the number of Americans who believe in God has decreased by half and the number who pray has declined five-fold. Has America lost its faith?

The United States formally separates Church and State, but it's hard to deny that America is inundated with religious innuendo, from its controversial pledge of allegiance all the way down to its Judeo-Christian courthouse displays and faith-espousing legal tender. Yet fewer Americans pray or believe in God than ever before, according to a new study in the journal Sage Open.

Researchers found that the percentage of Americans who claim they never pray reached an all-time high in 2014, up five-fold since the 1980s. Over the same time period, belief in God and interest in spirituality appears to have similarly declined, especially among young adults.

The findings suggest that, "millennials are the least religious generation in memory, and possibly in American history," says Jean M. Twenge, psychology professor at San Diego State University and coauthor on the study, in a press statement. "Most previous studies concluded that fewer Americans were publicly affiliating with a religion, but that Americans were just as religious in private ways. That's no longer the case, especially in the last few years."

The notion that the U.S. is inching away from organized religion is nothing new. Throughout the 2000s, studies repeatedly found that many Americans had lost faith in religious institutions. But scientists suspected the shift was from organized religion, rather than spirituality-that Americans had stopped attending formal services, but that they still prayed and believed in private.

And it made sense. The Catholic Church's highly publicized sexual abuse scandals had shaken America's faith in religious leadership right around the same time that our faith in non-religious institutions was beginning to wane. One 2014 study found that Americans had grown skeptical of Church power in much the same way that they had grown suspicious of all major institutions, including the media, the medical establishment and Congress.

But this new study suggests that Americans have a problem with God-and that our spiritual issues run deeper than paltry mistrust of religious institutions.

For the study, researchers pulled 58,893 entries from the GSS, a nationally representative survey of U.S. adults. The results suggest a steep decline in the number of Americans who pray, believe in God, take the Bible literally, attend religious services or identified as religious-all factors that should have relatively little to do with America's skepticism of large institutions.

As of 2014, nearly one third of thirty-somethings who matured in the 2000s said they were "secular" and one fifth reported that they were not even "spiritual", suggesting a decline not only in religious affiliated but also in the core beliefs of Generation Y. "Decline in religious affiliation and participation has now extended to private practices and beliefs," the authors write.

The next generation, often referred to as iGen, is even more secular. By 2014, the number of 18 to 22-year-olds who reported no religious affiliation rose from 11 percent in the 1970s to 36 percent; the percentage who said they never pray rose from 4 percent to 28 percent. Belief in God and attendance at religious serviced declined by half while self-reported spirituality declined five-fold. "This suggests that iGen will continue the decrease in religious orientation rather than reversing it, even in spirituality," the authors write.

One odd quirk, however-Americans have become slightly more likely to believe in an afterlife, even as they are abandoning prayer, belief in God and rituals. This, too, is perhaps a telling sign of America's newfound relationship with old-time religion. "It might be part of a growing entitlement mentality," Twenge said. "Thinking you can get something for nothing."

The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Jesus the Christ

The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Jesus the Christ - J.L. Robb - http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8216

Remember when the WWJD bracelets were such a fad? Christian book stores could not keep enough in stock, and some of the big-box stores even jumped on the bandwagon.

That was then; this is now: Americans Skeptical Of God But Think Heaven Is Real, Somehow

The headline from vocative.com is pretty fantastical and sadly, true.

Think about this new Millennials philosophy. No God. No Rules. Just Heaven. They don't like His rules but love His home. Based on the poor programming this group has received from parents, schools and media, narcissisimania prevails. Life is special.

So we have a new religion, the religion of the Church of Narcissism, all play and no work, no sins... just Heaven.

In 1960, about 99% of Americans polled claimed to believe in God; and about 97% were Christian. The religious makeup in 1960 was almost totally Judeo-Christian. Heaven was for real then too but required a little effort.

No more. So many seem to think they somehow deserve a new BMW and $100,000 a year... and of course, a safe zone where no one can hurt their feelings. Of course, we can't totally blame the Millennials. This bad programming started long ago, a generation ago, about the time that John F. Kennedy was killed and God was kicked out of school.

What would Jesus do about this revision?

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."Matthew 7:13-14 NIV

The belief that there is a Heaven offering eternal bliss and comfort to anyone and everyone is ludicrous. What would be the reason? Even Jesus' willingness to forgive a multitude of sins does not make the above quote fictitious. Only a few find it.

Two thousand years ago, the people of Israel pined for the long-predicted Messiah's arrival. They were sick of the Roman occupation, and a savior for the Jews was certain to come. It had been foretold by Zechariah five hundred years earlier, and the prophets never lied.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9 NIV

The Israelites (Judahites) were sick of occupation and war, something that had been going on since Nebuchadnezzar. The history of the Hebrew people to that point in time had been one of strife, suffering and constant war with the Hittites, Canaanites and other ites, modern day Arab Muslims.

Around 520 BC, Zechariah continued the prophecies, telling the Jewish people that God was sending them a savior, the Messiah. He would be a king and great leader and would lead them out of their oppression if they would accept his Messiahship.

Somehow they missed the part of Zechariah's prophecy that said their king would not be riding a big, white horse but instead, a lowly donkey, less than a year old and never ridden before.

How did Zechariah know that would happen? It was 500 years before Jesus came along and made it happen.

"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' say, 'The Lord needs it.'" Luke 19:30-31 NIV

Last Sunday was Palm Sunday, the day Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey colt is celebrated by more than 2,000,000,000 people, a third of the world's population. One Man.

One donkey. One cross.

Jesus was not what the Jews of the day were expecting. They figured the Messiah would be big, and strong and kingly, riding a white horse; not a lowly donkey. Jesus was the opposite of expectations.

His message, or one of the many messages, was that if we want to get along with each other instead of warring, and killing and raping and robbing, we would have to love each other as we love ourselves. That requirement was right below loving God with all your heart. Love God; love one another.

Seems so simple.

Yesterday, 134 innocent victims of man's hating one another instead of loving, occurred in Belgium. It was perpetrated on the innocent by a religious philosophy that was foretold in the Book of Genesis where the descendants of Abraham's illegitimate child would become a great people but would hate everyone else- including their own brothers. How did Moses know to write that?

Arab Muslims to this day still kill each other ruthlessly, as described daily in news sources around the world.

I pray for these victims, and the prayers are coming daily. Large memorials of flowers, stuffed animals and toys seem to be sprouting up all over Europe and the USA.

Jesus did not have to die on the cross. He had the power to come down or to have never been hammered to the cross in the first place. He had the power to wipe out his assassins and those who called for his murder. He had the power to come riding into Jerusalem triumphant and arrogant like most kings on a shiny, white horse.

But he did not.  I say a prayer of thanks every day for that.

This Sunday we celebrate the greatest of all miracles, the proof that there really is a life after death. Proof that this 100-year opportunity called life is tiny compared to the opportunity of foreverness.

When Jesus was beaten nearly to death, had a thorny crown smashed into his head, then nailed to a wooden cross and pierced in the side to see if he was really dead, he did not come down from the cross and take care of business like I would've wanted to.

He looked at us with sorrow, not derision. He looked at us with pity, not disgust. He loved and forgave; he did not hate and hold grudges.

Though Jesus did not hold grudges, those who killed him and demanded he be killed paid a Huuugge price. The Roman Empire is no more, and Israel is finally back-just as prophesied.

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter and celebrates the miracle of miracles. Jesus was seen by hundreds of people when he rose from the dead, not twelve. Then he rose to Heaven, the home of the Father the Millenials don't believe in.

What would Jesus do?

"... and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

The Rapture's in the Air: Part 1

The Rapture's in the Air: Part 1 - Pete Garcia - http://www.omegaletter.com/articles/articles.asp?ArticleID=8214

If you've ever been on an airplane departing from a busy terminal, maybe you've wondered how your 747 is able to punch into the clouds upon departure and seemingly make the necessary turns and adjustments in the clouds to get you from point A to point B.  Commercial flights almost always operate under what is known as Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).  When flying IFR, the pilots don't look outside except for takeoffs and landings, but in flight, they are solely reliant the navigation instruments to determine everything from airspeed, altimeter, navigation, and rate of climbs and descents.  Likewise, they would also be receiving instructions from an Air Traffic Controlling (ATC) agency who is giving them commands on where and when to turn, when to climb or descend, or to maintain current headings and altitudes.

In IFR, there are different kinds of instrument approaches you can use, depending upon what kind of instruments your aircraft has available to it.  One of the most common ones amongst aircraft is the VHF Omnidirectional Range or VOR.  Without getting too technical, a VOR offers you direction but doesn't give you distance unless it intersects with another VOR airway.  The VOR itself sits on the ground usually near an airfield, and serves as a marker for your approach, should you need it in case of bad weather.  Unique to a VOR, is the 'cone of confusion' you enter, as you pass overhead of the VOR.  In other words, the closer you are to the actual navigation aid the more sensitive your instruments become to it, causing rapid oscillations and false readings.

As both an aviator and a student of prophecy, I can't help but draw the parallels between the increasingly vitriolic attacks on the Pre-Tribulation Rapture doctrine, and this 'cone of confusion'.  I am of the firm conviction that the doctrine of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture is the only biblical eschatological position regarding the timing of the Rapture, and as evidence to its validity, the increasing hostility towards it, and the confusion on the subject means we must be very close indeed.

The truth is, the Rapture of the Church is going to happen whether we like it or not.  The Rapture of the Church is in effect, the victory 'ticker tape' parade through Satan's domain where Christ our Redeemer escorts us to our new heavenly abode.  Yet, before He does this the dead are resurrected and the living are instantaneously translated into immortal bodies.  It will also happen in accordance to the way Scripture says it will, which is before the seven year Tribulation begins.  So think about it this way...Jesus is returning and He is giving us 'superman' type bodies, and we get to leave this crummy, sin-ridden world...and "Christians" are angry about this?  That dog don't hunt.

It strikes me as odd that the level of anger and vitriol which is leveled against those of us who hold the Pre-Trib view, especially coming from other "Christians".  It seems that a lot of folk are apprehensive and irritated that Christ would have the audacity to return without their say-so. Again, with all the savagery directed at us "Pre-Tribber's", you'd think we were attempting to add a fourth deity to the Trinity or something.  When you boil it down, the encapsulated inside the Pre-Trib view is the following:

*That Christ ushers in His Kingdom, not men
*The Church is NOT Israel, nor is the Tribulation for the Church
*That God delivers His Bride (the Church) before He pours out His wrath on the earth
*That God's wrath begins with the first Seal Judgment

What has become fashionable as of late, primarily amongst critics of the Pre-Trib view, is to issue financial taunts in the form of the "$10,000-You Can't Find One Pre-Trib Verse" challenge.   While even though we do offer verses which are Pre Trib in nature the fact remains that their challenge is disingenuous at best and outright blasphemous at worst.  Either way, they won't pay or can't pay, and offer only interpretational excuses so as to discredit any verse we do offer as evidence.  But, we have something greater than a single verse, we have the entire canon of Scripture, both Old and New, which verifies and testifies to God's faithfulness in regards to His judgments.  Besides, we already know the answer to the pivotal question Abraham presented on the plains of Mamre when he asked the Lord, "Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? (Gen. 18:23)

We can rest assured that our view, still and always will be, the only biblical version of the "Blessed Hope".  Although I will not be able to address all four of these in a single sitting, they will be addressed, and hopefully in a manner that piques your interest to search these things out for yourself.  The following represent popular areas of contention:

Part 1
1.The definition of wrath
2.Who's who in the Tribulation

Part 2
1.The identity of the Restrainer
2.Imminence

Wrath v. Deliverance

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. Luke 17:26-30

First and foremost, a believer's supernatural deliverance in Scripture is in direct relationship to the size and scope of God's judgment.  In describing the time just before His return, Jesus uses both Noah's and Lot's day as examples for what it would look like in the Day prior to His return.  In Noah's time, the common argument against the Pre-Trib view is that Noah had to endure the Flood via the Ark...thus, the Rapture must be Post-Tribulational.

While it is true that Noah and family endured the wrath whilst floating safely on the Ark, maybe we should take a moment to consider that Noah and family's removal from the earth wasn't necessary.  After all, God's plan wasn't to destroy the world itself, or why would He have Noah save the animals?  Since their permanent removal wasn't a part of God's program, He preserved them through the flood, so they could repopulate the earth after the flood waters receded. (Gen 9) The Ark then was simply the mechanism of deliverance, which allowed for Noah's escape through and above the flood waters.  A true picture of the Pre-Trib Rapture, would be Enoch's mysterious rapture prior to Noah's day. (Gen. 5:21-24; Hebrews 11:5-6)

Subsequently in Lot's day, deliverance this time was not thru the judgment, but away from it.  Since the judgment was limited to just the two wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, His warning came before the judgment, and judgment was withheld until he left with his family.  In this instance, Lot and his family's deliverance was in their departure from the cities before fire rained down. (Gen. 19)

But in either example Christ used, deliverance was before the judgment that fell, not during or afterwards.  So a consistent understanding of deliverance, reads prior-to the divine judgment being issued out.  Again, when God pours out His wrath, He faithfully removes the righteous first.

So what then defines wrath?  Merriam-Webster defines it this way:

1:  strong vengeful anger or indignation

2:  retributory punishment for an offense or a crime:  divine chastisement

Jesus, in the Upper Room Discourse, was pretty pointed in stating that in this life, we would have trials, tribulation, and be hated by all nations for His name's sake.  (John 14-16)  Christ then prays for Himself, His disciples, and then all of us in the following chapter (17) for strength and deliverance in the form of perseverance to become overcomer's.  This is in keeping with the biblical construct that, the world is currently under Satan's temporary management, and he's got the whole system rigged against us.  (Luke 4:4-6, John 14:30, Eph. 2:2, 1 John 5:19)

Likewise, nowhere in the New Testament are believers promised respite in this life, because we (the servants) are not greater than the Master (Jesus Christ).  If they hated and killed Him, we will not be immune from it.  The fact that the western world has embraced Christianity to one degree or another, isn't necessarily a good thing.  On the one hand, it has reduced physical persecution here in the west for a brief period of time, but only because Satan is working something far more nefarious in the forms of division and corruption.

Frankly, we should be more frightened if the world comes to love us, because that means our doctrine has really strayed from the course. (2 Timothy 3, 2 Peter 2-3, Jude, Rev. 2-3)  In regards to Eschatological views, simply look at which views the world will tolerate, and which they won't for another indicator of Biblical validity.  To date, I believe that the Pre-Tribulation view is the most hated.  So if Satan runs this world, and He hates the things that God loves, well, you get the point.

However, these trials and tribulations we undergo in this age, does not presuppose that God's judgments are equal and/or on the same level as satanically inspired persecution.  God allows it, but only to a certain degree, and only to further accomplish His plan.  But these are not divine wrath.  In other words, as long as there are Christians and Jews on this earth, and as long as Satan is allowed to run loose, there will be persecution against God's people so long as He allows it.  Christian's have faced persecution in every generation, and on almost every corner of this planet for the past 2,000 years.  IF Christian persecution were the only barometer for deliverance, Christ would have returned millennia ago.

But it is not.  Persecution, corruption, suppression, and censorship are simply a part of everyday life here on planet earth...just as Jesus said it would be.  The aforementioned are NOT what THE Tribulation is about.  In fact, The Tribulation isn't even really the name of the time period we are dealing with, but is referred to it as such in common vernacular.  We are in fact dealing with the time of Jacob's Trouble (Jeremiah 30:7-11), which is also known as the 70th Week of Daniel.  (Daniel 9:24-27)

Who's who in the Tribulation?

The problem with trying to fit the Church into the seven year Tribulation, is that the Church has no role to play in it.  It would be like trying to fit the cast and plot of Benny and the Jets, into The Sound of Music....it just don't fit.  If we are to understand first, who and what the 70th Week is for, then that point would become very evident that it has nothing to do with the Church.  So let's see what the Tribulation is for, and then who is who inside the confines of it.  From Jeremiah 30:7, 11

7 Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob's trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it...

...11 For I am with you,' says the Lord, 'to save you;
Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,
Yet I will not make a complete end of you.
But I will correct you in justice,
And will not let you go altogether unpunished.'

As any student of the Bible should know, Jacob was given the new name Israel by the Lord in Genesis 32:28.  In fact, it is the first time the word 'Israel' is used in the entire bible.  In Jeremiah's passage, God makes three unassailable points:

1.This is the time of Israel's trouble
2.God will make a 'full end' of the nations, in which national Israel has been scattered too
3.God will punish (discipline), but not destroy Israel

Given the entire context of these verses, the time of Tribulation is what is in context here and is still yet future (since nations still exist).  Ask yourself then, in light of the entire chapter,

*Where does the Church in which Christ built, fit in?
*Does the Church (the Bride of Christ) still need to be corrected in justice?
*Does the Bride of Christ still need punishment?
*Where is the Church mentioned in these passages?

Maybe that should be the $10,000 question?

Part II next week.

Epochs of Time in Bible Chronology - 6000 Years of Mankind

Epochs of Time in Bible Chronology - 6000 Years of Mankind - By Randy Nettles -
http://raptureready.com/soap2/nettles11.html

"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day" (Genesis 1:31).

"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.   And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made" (Genesis 2:1-3).

Most Bible scholars believe there will be 6000 years of recorded history for mankind, and then Jesus will return and reign/rule for 1000 years on the earth. The bible says that a thousand years is as one day with the Lord.

"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day" (2 Peter 3:80).

Just as the original creation week took 6 days of work and 1 day of rest...for a total of 7 days; so mankind will work on the earth for 6000 years and will then rest for 1000 years during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ...for a total of 7000 years of history on this earth. After 7000 years, God will create a new heaven and earth for the faithful angels and redeemed mankind.

We are advancing rapidly towards those 6000 years according to biblical chronologists. The following is a history and partial genealogy of mankind, as per the Bible and other secular records, with 13 epochs of time calculated and cumulated.

These epochs of time consist of major events and births in the history of mankind and specifically, the Jews. It starts with Adam, the first created man; and ends with Jesus (the second created man) at His Second Coming.

1) Creation to flood: 3960-3959 BC to 2304-2303 BC;  1656 years; Genesis 5 and 6.

There is very little dispute of the totality of the 1656 years duration from Adam to the Flood as per the book of Genesis. The book of Genesis first records the lineage of Adam to Noah and his sons. Noah was the ninth generation from Adam. His three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japeth were the tenth generation from Adam. Noah was 600 years old when the great flood started. The flood and the flood waters lasted for approximately one year.

The date 3960-3959 BC is not a random date. Later dates, such as 1446 BC or 586 BC, that have been established and proven from both secular and biblical sources allow us to work backward and arrive at this date. This will become self-evident later in this study.

The following epoch covers the time span of the genealogy of ante-dilluvian man...starting with Adam and ending with Noah and his sons. Before the flood, during the antediluvian period, men sometimes fathered children at a much older age.

Of course, they had much longer life spans (10X our current ones) during this time period. Noah didn't start having sons until he was "older." He had his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, by the time he was 500 years of age.

Before Noah, the oldest antediluvian patriarch was Methuselah who fathered Lamech (Noah's father) at 187 years old. Lamech fathered Noah at 182 years of age. Jared fathered Enoch at 162 years of age...Enos was 90, Seth was 105, and Adam was 130.

Of course, Adam and his sons fathered many other children (begat sons and daughters) after these recorded ages; but our focus is on the biblical lineage of Adam's son Seth.

The years involved within epochs 1-10 are determined by verses in the bible and are determined by the following:  Event or birth - Year from Creation - Year of Event - Biblical verse/s.

 Creation of Adam - Year 0 from creation - 3960 BC - Genesis 5:31.

 Birth of Seth - Year 130 from creation - 3830 BC - Genesis 5:6.

 Birth of Enos - Year 235 from creation - 3725 BC - Genesis 5:9.

 Birth of Cainan - Year 325 from creation - 3635 BC - Genesis 5:12.

 Birth of Mahalaleel - Year 395 from creation - 3565 BC - Genesis 5:15.

 Birth of Jared - Year 460 from creation - 3500 BC - Genesis 5:18.

 Birth of Enoch - Year 622 from creation - 3338 BC - Genesis 5:21.

 Birth of Methuselah - Year 687 from creation - 3273 BC - Genesis 5:25.

 Birth of Lamech - Year 874 from creation - 3086 BC - Genesis 5: 28.

 Birth of Noah - Year 1056 from creation - 2904 BC - Genesis 7:6.

 Beginning of the flood   - Year 1656 from creation - 2304 BC - Genesis 7:11; 8:13-14.

2) The flood to Abram's (Abraham) birth: 1 year after the flood started, the occupants exited the arc. 2303-2302 BC to 1951-1950 BC; 352 years + 1 year (in the arc) =  353 years; Genesis 1-12; Acts 7:4.

This epoch is recorded in the book of Genesis, chapters 11 and 12 and records the lineage from Noah's son, Shem, to Abraham. Two years after the flood, Arphaxad was born to Shem. Seven generations later, Terah was born into this lineage. Terah. Abraham's father, was actually 130 years old when Abraham was born.

"And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran" (Genesis 11:32).

"Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran" (Genesis 12:4).

Subtracting 75 from 205 equals 130 years for Terah's age at the birth of Abraham.

This is sort of unusual in the genealogy of the patriarch's after the flood. After the flood, the usual age of reproduction for this lineage was around thirty plus; but Terah was the rule to the exception. He had his son, Abram, at the ripe old age of 130. In these olden times, the old men could still father children at an old age, as long as the wife was not beyond child birthing age. Terah lived to be 205 years old. He was the last of the patriarchs to live over 200 years.

 Beginning of the flood - Year 1656 from creation - 2304 BC - Genesis 7:11, 8:13-14.

Noah leaves the ark - Year 1657 from creation - 2303 BC - Genesis 11:10.

 Birth of Arphaxed - Year 1659 from creation - 2301 BC - Genesis 11:12.

 Birth of Salah - Year 1694 from creation - 2266 BC - Genesis 11:14.

 Birth of Eber - Year 1724 from creation - 2236 BC - Genesis 11:16.

 Birth of Peleg - Year 1758 from creation - 2202 BC - Genesis 11:18

 Birth of Reu - Year 1788 from creation - 2172 BC - Genesis 11:20.

 Birth of Serug - Year 1820 from creation - 2140 BC - Genesis 11:22.

 Birth of Nahor - Year 1850 from creation - 2110 BC - Genesis 11:24.

 Birth of Terah - Year 1879 from creation - 2081 BC - Genesis 11:26.

 Birth of Abraham - Year 2009 from creation - 1951 BC - Genesis 12:4.

1656 years (epoch1) + 353 years (epoch 2) = 2009 years.

3) Abram's birth to confirmed covenant: 1952-1951 BC to 1877-1876 BC; 75 years; Genesis 12:4.

This is the covenant between the Lord and Abram:"Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, unto a land that I will show you: and I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed" (Genesis 12:1-3).

Abraham was born 352 years after the flood because Terah was 205 and "died" in Haran (Gen.11:32). Then Abraham, 'when his father was dead' (Acts 7:4), moved to Canaan at the age of 75 (Gen.12:4). Thus, Abraham was born when Terah was 130, so Genesis 11:26 should be paraphrased, Terah lived seventy years, and begot the first of his three sons (not Abram).

Abraham was still 75 years old in Genesis 13:14-16 when the covenant (regarding God giving the promise land to Abraham and his descendants forever) was confirmed. 430 years later (Gal.3:16-17), "the law" of rituals was given (Ex.24:12)... the same year as the exodus (Ex.14) which was 430 years after Genesis 12:4 (Ex.12:40-41).

Birth of Abraham - Year 2009 from creation - 1951 BC - Genesis 12:4.

 Abraham confirms covenant - Year 2084 from creation - 1876 BC - Genesis 16:16.

2009 years (epoch 1-2) + 75 years (epoch 3) = 2084 years.

4) Confirmed covenant to Exodus: 1877-1876 BC to 1447-1446 BC;  430 years; Gen.12:4; 13:14-16; Ex. 12:40-41; 14; 24:12; Gal. 3:16-17.

"Now the sojourning of the children of Israel , who dwelt in Egypt , was four hundred and thirty years. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt" (Exodus 12:40-41).

The 430 years must begin in Abraham's lifetime, not Israel 's or Jacob's, because the 400 years which ends also at the exodus specifically starts at Isaac's affliction by Ishmael (Gen.15:13; 21:8-12; Acts 7:6) which therefore began 30 years after Abraham entered the land.

Abraham lived to be 175 years old. Isaac was 180 years old when he died. Jacob lived to be 147 years old.

Joseph wasn't born until Jacob was 91 years old. Jacob was probably over 100 when he fathered Benjamin...Joseph's younger brother from the same mother. Yes, Jacob was a feisty old man.

Exodus 12:40-41 says, "Now the sojourning (in Canaan and Egypt - 215 years each) of the children of Israel (which here includes Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), who dwelt in Egypt, was 430 years."

Josephus says the same thing: "They left Egypt ... on the fifteenth day of the lunar month (Num. 33:3), four hundred and thirty years after our forefather Abraham came into Canaan" (Antiquities of the Jews, 2:15:2)

Both the Samaritan Pentateuch and Septuagint add "and in Canaan" in verse 40. Some translations say Israel dwelt in Egypt 430 years which contradicts Galatians 3:17.

The Septuagint, quoted by Paul in Galatians, says "the sojourning of the sons of Israel who dwelt in the land of Egypt and Canaan was 430 years" because they dwelt in Canaan before they dwelt in Egypt.

 Birth of Moses - Year 2434 from creation - 1526 BC - Exodus 7:7.

 Exodus from Egypt - Year 2514 from creation - 1446 BC - Exodus 16:35.

 2084 years (epochs 1-3) + 430 years (epoch 4) = 2514 years.

5)   Exodus to Israel 's temple foundation: 1447-1446 BC to 967-966 BC;  480 years; 1 Kings 6:1.

"And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month; that he began to build the house of the Lord" (1 Kings 6:1).

Moses, the man of God, led the children of Israel out of Egypt in about 1446 BC. After 40 years of wandering in the desert, Moses died (at 120 years of age) after viewing the Promised Land from a distance. Joshua replaced Moses as the leader of the newly formed nation of Israel and entered the Promised Land in 1406 BC. He died at 110 years of age.

After Joshua's death, God raised up judges to lead and deliver his people from slavery. The total time of the judges was about 326 years, from 1376 BC to 1050 BC. Israel 's first king was Saul, who ruled for 40 years; until about 1010 BC.

David was the next king and he also ruled for 40 years; until about 970 BC. He died at 70 years of age. David was a descendant from the lineage of Jacob's son, Judas.

David's son, Solomon, became king of Israel after his father's death. He began the temple building project that his father had desired in the fourth year of his reign in 966 BC.

The  exodus from Egypt occurred in 1446 BC, 480 years later (966 BC), the construction of the first temple of the Jewish nation began.

 Exodus from Egypt - Year 2514 from creation - 1446 BC - Exodus 16:35.

 Crossing of Jordan River - Year 2554 from creation - 1406 BC - Joshua 14:7, 24:29.

Judges begin leading Israel - Year 2584 from creation - 1376 BC - Joshua 24:29.

Saul (first king of Israel ) begins reign - Year 2910 from creation - 1050 BC - Acts 13:21.

 David begins reign - Year 2950 from creation - 1010 BC - 2 Samuel 5:4.

 Solomon begins reign - Year 2990 from creation - 970 BC - 1 Kings 6:1.

 Solomon begins construction of temple - Year 2994 from creation - 966 BC - 1 Kings 11:42.

 2514 years (epochs 1-4) + 480 years (epoch 5) = 2994 years.

6)  From temple foundation (in the fourth year of Solomon's reign) to the  death of Solomon: 967-966 BC to 931-930 BC;  36 years; 1 Kings 11:42.

Solomon ruled for 40 total years and then died. Saul, David and Solomon all reigned for 40 years (Acts 13:21; 1 Chr. 29:27; 2 Chr. 9:30).

Solomon begins construction to build temple - Year 2994 from creation - 966 BC - 1 Kings 11:42.

Death of Solomon and Rehoboam begins reign - Year 3030 from creation - 930 BC - 1 Kings 14:21.

 2994 years (epochs 1-5) + 36 years (epoch 6) = 3030 years.

7) The death of Solomon to the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple : 931-930 BC to 586-585 BC; 345 years; Kings and Chronicles.

By adding all the reigns of each of the kings of Judah (after Solomon's death) mentioned in Kings and Chronicles we have a total of 345 years. The year in whicha king came to the throne was known as his accession year. His first regnal year, i.e. the first full year of the king's reign, began on the first day of the new year following his accession.

The period between his actual accession and next new year's day was known as the beginning of the reign. Israel, in common with other near eastern nations, commenced the new year on the first of Nisan (our March - April), it's first king,   Jeroboam, having come from Egypt (1 Kings 12:2-3) where the new year began in the spring. Judah , however, commenced the new year on the first of Tishri (our September-October). Where two dates overlap, a coregency is indicated. Regnal years are used.

[Note: Read Edwin R. Thiele's excellent book...The Mysterious Numbers of the Hebrew Kings regarding the chronology of the kings of Judah and Israel.] It is deemed the definitive work and reckoning of the calendar years on this topic. The following  kings of Judah list is from his calculations:

 Rehoboam - 930-913 BC (1 Kin.14:21-31; 2 Chr. 9:31).

 Abijam (Abijah) - 913-910 BC (1 Kin.15:1-8; 2 Chr.13:1-14).

 Asa - 910-869 BC (1 Kin.15:9-24; 2 Chr.14:1-16).

 Jehoshaphat - 872-848 BC, includes co-regency time (1 Kin.22:41-50; 2 Chr.17:1-21).

 Jehoram (Joram) - 853-841 BC (2 Kin.8:16-24. 2 Chr.21:1-2; he reigned concurrently with his father four years (2 Kin. 8:16; 2 Chr. 21:3-4; 2 Kin. 3:1; 9:29; 8:25).

 Ahaziah - 841 BC (2 Kin.8:25-9:29; Chr.22:1).

 Queen Athaliah - 841-835 BC (2 Kin.11:1-20; 2 Chr.22:10-23:21).

 Joash - 835-796 BC (2 Kin.11:21-12:21; 2 Chr.24:1-27).

 Amaziah - 796-767 BC (2 Kin.14:1-20; 2 Chr.25:1-28).

Azariah (Uzziah) - 792-740 BC (includes overlap reign time with Amaziah; 2 Kin.15:1-7; 2 Chr. 26:1-23).

 Jotham - 750-732 BC (Includes coregency time with Uzziah; 2 Kin.15:32-38; 2 Chr.27:1-9).

 Ahaz - 735-715 BC (includes overlap reign time with Jotham); 2 Kin.16:1-20; 2 Chr.28:1-27.

 Hezekiah - 715-686 BC (2 Kin.18:1-20:21; 2 Chr.29:1-32:33; Isa.36:1-39:8).

 Manasseh - 696-642 BC (includes coregency time with Hezekiah, 2 Ki.21:1-18. 2 Chr.33:1-20).

 Amon - 642-640 BC (2 Kin.21:19-26; 2 Chr.33:21-25).

 Josiah - 640-609 BC (2 Kin.22:1-23:30; 2 Chr.34:1-35:27).

 Jehoahaz (Shallum) - 609 BC (2 Kin.23:31-34; 2 Chr.36:1-4; Jer.22:1-12).

 Jehoiakim (Eliakim) - 609-598 BC (2 Kin. 23:34-24:7; 2 Chr36:4-8. Jer.22:13-23; 26:36).

 Jehoiachin (Coniah) - 598-597 BC 2 Kin. 24:8-17. 2 Chr.36:9-10. Jer.22:24-30; 52:31-34.

 Zedekiah (Mattaniah) 597-586 BC 2 Kin.24:17-25:7; 2 Chr.36:11-21; Jer.39:1-10; 52:1-11.

The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple occurred in 586 BC by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon . Zedekiah was the last king of Judah. He reigned for 11 years. The people of Judah were killed or removed to Babylon.

 3030 years (epochs 1- 6) + 345 years (epoch 7) = 3375 years.

8)  The destruction of the first   temple to the finished construction of the second temple: 586-585 BC to 516-515 BC;  70 years; Daniel 9:2; Ezra 6:15; Zech.7:5-7.

The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple occurred in 586 BC. The construction of the second temple was finished in 516 BC. Both dates are well established in secular histories as 586-585 and 516-515 BC. There were 70 years from the destruction of the first temple (Jer.52:12-13) in the "nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar" (52:12) and "eleventh year of Zedekiah's reign" (2 Kings 25:2); to the building of the second temple "in the sixth year of the reign of Darius" (Ezra 6:15).

 Destruction of the first temple - Year 3375 from creation - 586 BC - Jeremiah 52:12-13, 25:1, Daniel 2:1.

The second Temple is rebuilt in sixth year of King Darius - Year 3445 from creation - 516 BC - 2 Chronicles 36:21, 23.

 3375 years (epochs 1-7) + 70 years (epoch 8) = 3445 years.

9)  From the sixth   year of King Darius the Mede   (when the second temple was finished) to the Persian king Artaxerxes' decree to rebuild Jerusalem: 516 BC to 444 BC;  72 years.

Cyrus issued a decree in 538 BC regarding the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem (Ezra 1:1-2). This wasn't the decree we're looking for because Dan.9:25 speaks of the rebuilding of the city, Jerusalem, including the streets and walls, not merely the temple. The people resisted this decree and stopped work on the temple until the second year of Darius (See Ezra 4:4-5, 24.)

Darius issued a decree in 520 BC, and ordered the construction of the temple to continue (Ezra 6:11-12). Again, this decree was for the temple, not the city. The temple was completed by the sixth year of Darius (Ezra 6:14-15) so this could not be the decree spoken of by Daniel. Counting the prophecy from these dates would place us well before Christ's life.

When Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem, everybody was already at work building Jerusalem (Neh. 2:16) under the authority of the decree they had received thirteen years earlier from Ezra. Nehemiah finished his work in 52 days (Neh.6:15). The city and walls had been rebuilt much earlier, and Nehemiah merely repaired some recent damage to the gates and walls.

Actually, once you determine the date of the decree of Artaxerxes (in his seventh year), then it is easy to determine the date of Nehemiah's commission since it was in the 20th year of Artaxerxes (Neh.2:1).

Nehemiah 1:1-2 shows that Nehemiah's brother came from Susa in December (Chislev) to report the sad situation at Jerusalem . Four months later (Nisan), in the spring of 444 BC, Artaxerxes' 20th year, the king gave permission for Nehemiah to go to Jerusalem (Neh.2:1-8).

Second temple is rebuilt in sixth year of King Darius - Year 3445 from creation - 516 BC - 2 Chronicles 36:21, 23.

King Artaxerxes' decree to rebuild Jerusalem - Year 3517 from creation - 444 BC - Nehemiah 2:1.

 3445 years (epochs 1-8) + 72 years (epoch 9) = 3517 years.

10)  Artaxerxes' decree to rebuild Jerusalem to "Palm" Sunday before Jesus' crucifixion, 444 BC to AD 33,476 years (Daniel 9:24-26).

The decree given by Artaxerxes to Nehemiah in 444 BC (Neh. 2) was the starting point of Daniel's prophecy (Daniel 9:25) of 483 years. The end of Daniel's prophecy occurred in AD 33 when Jesus was "cut off" from being King of the Jews, in AD 33 Nisan 10, on a Sunday (now known as Palm Sunday) fulfilling the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-26.

Four days later (Thursday) AD 33 Nisan 14, the Lord Jesus was crucified on a Feast of Passover. Three days later (Sunday) AD 33 Nisan 17, Jesus was resurrected back to life on a Feast of Firstfruits fulfilling His prophecy of Matthew 12:39-40.

Daniel's prophecy consists of 483 total biblical years of 360 days per year...not our current solar calendar of 365.2422 days per year. The 360 day per year calendar was the one that Daniel was referring to when he gave his prophecy. The only other time/s in the Old Testament that this 360 day calendar was referred to was during the flood of Noah, Genesis 7 and 8 and possibly Genesis 29:27-30.

Daniel 9:24-26 and Genesis 29: 27-30 are the only two times in the Bible that the word "weeks" is used as a term for 7 years (360 days per year).   However, when reckoning cumulative years for Bible chronology, we use the solar calendar and thus the 476 years.

King Artaxerxes decrees rebuilding Jerusalem -Year 3517 from creation - 444 BC - Nehemiah 2:1.

 Birth of Jesus Christ - Year 3956 from creation - 5 BC - Mathew 2:1, 15.

 Christ's ministry begins - Year 3990 from Creation - AD 30 - Luke 3:1.

 Christ's crucifixion - Year 3993 from Creation - AD 33 - Luke 23:32-49.

Joseph, Jesus' step-father, was a descendant of King David and his son Solomon. Mary, Jesus' mother, was a descendant of King David and his son Nathan.

 3517 years (epochs 1- 9) + 476 years = 3993 years.

11) Jesus' death to  present (AD 2016).  1983 years. AD 33 to AD 2016.

This epoch includes the calling of Paul as an apostle of Jesus in AD 38, the destruction of Jerusalem and dispersion of Israel in AD 70, Israel becoming a nation again in AD 1948, and Jerusalem regained by Israel in AD 1967.

 3993 years (Epochs 1-10) + 1983 years = 5976 years.

12) Years before the Tribulation starts - 0 - ? years (in the future).

Obviously we can't predict how many years are in epoch 12. It could be 0 to 20 years.

13) Seven-year Tribulation. (7 years in the future).

 5976 years (epochs 1-12) + 7 years (epoch 13) = 5983 years.

According to these calculations (not including the Tribulation or the time immediately before) for the biblical chronology of mankind, we are now (AD 2016) 24 years (6000 years - 5976 years = 24 years) shy of reaching 6000 years. Does this mean we are 17 years away from the future seven- year Tribulation? It's possible, but in my estimation we are much closer. It's more likely that sometime in the distant past, our calendar changed from 360 days to 365.2422 days per year.

Nobody is for sure of the exact reason for this change, or when it happened. It could be that it occurred after (and possibly as a result of) the great flood. If epoch 1, the antediluvian period before the flood, lasted for 1656 years of 360 days per year instead of 365.2422 days, then that would account for the 17 year time difference.

When calculating 6000 years of biblical chronology of mankind, it is impossible to have the exact numbers, but we believe that it's close to the seven-year time period known as the Tribulation.

Life, as we know it, is soon (a relative term) going to change in a most drastic way. Make your choice for the Lord today, while there is still time.
