OBAMA WATCH: 3.11.16 - Obama to Enlist Anti-Israel UN in Last-Ditch Effort for Middle East Peace

Obama to Enlist Anti-Israel UN in Last-Ditch Effort for Middle East Peace - By Abra Forman -

"I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the valley of Yehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there for My people and for My heritage Yisrael whom they have scattered among the nations and divided My land." Joel 4:2 (The Israel BibleĆ¢„¢)

As his term runs down, US President Barack Obama plans to make one more desperate bid for peace between Israel and the Palestinians by way of an international body known to be hostile to Israel - the United Nations (UN).

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Obama's last-ditch effort to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations is likely to include a UN Security Council resolution which would set a framework for a viable deal.

Such a resolution would demand concessions from both Israel and the Palestinians, the WSJ reported senior US officials as saying, despite the Palestinians' historical refusal to make any concessions whatsoever.

The UN move would be a welcome one to the Palestinian Authority (PA), headed by Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, which has pushed for the establishment of an international body to mediate peace talks, preferring to appeal to external parties who may be more sympathetic to the Palestinian cause than to deal directly with Israel.

Israel, on the other hand, has rejected external interference from non-concerned parties in the belief that direct talks are the best way to an agreement. The most recent outside push for talks came from France, which put forward a plan for resuming negotiations while simultaneously threatening to recognize the Palestinian state out-of-hand if no terms were reached. The French plan was dismissed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said it was "doomed to fail."

Adding insult to injury, the United Nations is widely recognized as unfairly critical of Israel, which has been subject to disproportionately more UN resolutions than any other country. The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has directly blamed Israel again and again for violence and unrest in the region.

In January, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon justified the ongoing wave of Palestinian terror against Israel by announcing, "It is human nature to resist occupation." If the UN were to mediate a peace agreement, there is little doubt that its anti-Israel bias would deeply color proceedings.

The WSJ report added that other initiatives under consideration in Obama's final grasp at Middle East peace included a presidential speech or a statement from the Quartet (comprised of the US, the European Union, the UN, and Russia).

Compromises suggested by the proverbial UN resolution could include Israel freezing construction in Judea and Samaria and acknowledging East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital on one side, and Palestine recognizing Israel as a Jewish state and giving up right of return on the other.

A land swap would be implemented, with Israel withdrawing to pre-1967 borders.

The Bible firmly establishes Judea and Samaria, today known as the West Bank, as within the historical borders of the God-given land of Israel, and a prophecy in the Book of Joel warns that all nations which seek to divide Israel will meet judgement. However, Israel's ancient claim goes largely unrecognized by modern world powers.

Israel has yet to respond to the possibility of such a plan. Past efforts by the Obama administration to mediate peace between Israel and the Palestinians have failed, and most Israeli officials do not see Obama, whose relations with Netanyahu are frosty, as a friend to Israel.

Why Threaten North Korea and China? Would Obama Start a War to Stay in Office?

Is Barack Obama trying to start a war, and will that war be used as an excuse to stay in office once his term is over?  Late in his second term, Obama is starting to become extremely aggressive with the rest of the world.  He just angered China by sailing an aircraft carrier task force past disputed islands in the South China Sea, he is provoking North Korea by simulating an invasion of that nation during a military exercise that is going to involve more than 300,000 troops, and he is backing Saudi Arabia and Turkey as they make moves that could very well start World War III in the Middle East.  If a war did begin, that could give Obama the excuse that he needs to exercise his emergency powers, and that could potentially include suspending the election that is scheduled for November.

I know that all of this sounds a little bizarre, but it would help to explain Obama's extremely aggressive behavior lately.

For example, why is the U.S. military risking a major incident on the Korean peninsula?

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un is about as paranoid as they come, and he is extremely alarmed by the massive military exercise that is about to begin in South Korea.  More than 300,000 troops are gathering for what is being billed as the biggest military exercise in the history of that nation.

Reportedly, U.S. and South Korean forces plan to simulate an invasion of North Korea and practice the elimination of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction.

In response to these "exercises", Kim Jong Un has placed his nuclear weapons on standby for "use at any moment", and he is warning that North Korea may launch a "preemptive and offensive nuclear strike"...

North Korea warned it would make a "preemptive and offensive nuclear strike" in response to joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises that began Monday.

The news was announced in a statement by the National Defense Commission of North Korea and published in the state-run Korean Central News Agency.

"As the joint military exercises to be staged by the enemies are regarded as the most undisguised nuclear war drills aimed to infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK, its military counteraction will be more preemptive and offensive nuclear strike to cope with them," the statement read.

I don't care how crazy someone is - if they have nuclear weapons and they threaten to hit the United States with a preemptive nuclear strike, I am going to get alarmed.

Remember, North Korea did claim to successfully test a hydrogen bomb in January, and the North Koreans did successfully launch a satellite into orbit in February.

The North Koreans absolutely hate us.  In fact, hatred for the United States is one of the pillars of their society.  I know that may sound strange to many Americans, but it is true.  If you can believe it, each year they actually have an entire month during which hatred for America is celebrated.

Tensions on the Korean peninsula are running extremely high, and a single hydrogen bomb could potentially kill millions of people.

So why risk an incident?

Why provoke North Korea more than necessary?

Meanwhile, the Obama administration has been provoking China in the South China Sea.

Yes, it is a problem that China has seized control of several important islands in the Spratly and Paracel island chains.  But there are other ways to handle this crisis rather than trying to show how tough you are.

Last month, China deployed surface-to-air missile systems on the disputed islands.  Obama's response was to sail an aircraft carrier task force past the islands to see if China would start shooting at it.  The following comes from an article about this incident that was posted by the Navy Times...

The U.S. Navy has dispatched a small armada to the South China Sea.

The carrier John C. Stennis, two destroyers, two cruisers and the 7th Fleet flagship have sailed into the disputed waters in recent days, according to military officials. The carrier strike group is the latest show of force in the tense region, with the U.S. asserting that China is militarizing the region to guard its excessive territorial claims.

Stennis is joined in the region by the cruisers Antietam and Mobile Bay, and the destroyers Chung-Hoon and Stockdale. The command ship Blue Ridge, the floating headquarters of the Japan-based 7th Fleet, is also in the area, en route to a port visit in the Philippines. Stennis deployed from Washington state on Jan. 15.

Do we really want to go to war with China over these islands?

The first time we sailed a military vessel through those waters after China had claimed those islands, a Chinese state-run newspaper boldly declared that China "is not frightened to fight a war with the U.S. in the region".

Most Americans don't realize this, but our relationship with China is rapidly going downhill.  There is more to this than just the South China Sea, but without a doubt this is a major point of contention as far as the Chinese government is concerned.

At the same time, we keep getting closer to World War III erupting in the Middle East.  Last month, defense ministers from 49 different nations met in Brussels to discuss a ground invasion of Syria, and since that time forces have been massing in northern Saudi Arabia and southern Turkey.

If a ground invasion of Syria does take place, the goal would be to go to Damascus and take down the Assad regime.  That would put "coalition forces" in direct conflict with Iran, Hezbollah and most importantly the Russians.  It could very easily be the spark that sets off World War III, but Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their allies will never go ahead without the direct approval of the Obama administration.

Barack Obama does not need all of these flashpoints to erupt in order to evoke his emergency powers.

He just needs one of them.

Throughout American history, presidents have always had emergency powers, but since 9/11 these powers have been greatly enhanced.  Given the right circumstances, a U.S. president could now essentially declare himself (or herself) a dictator for the duration of the crisis.

Of course the word "dictator" would never actually be used, but that would be the reality of the situation.

And if we had a "national emergency" that was bad enough, Barack Obama would have the authority to postpone or suspend the upcoming election.

Let us hope and pray that does not happen, but the truth is that such a scenario could actually take place.  Hopefully what we are witnessing around the globe right now are not attempts by Obama to artificially manufacture such a crisis.  Let us hope and pray that when his time is up that Obama is ready to gracefully move into retirement.

Palestinian terrorist attacks hit three Israeli towns in quick succession Tuesday, March 8, the day US Vice President Joe Biden landed in Israel, claiming the life of an American combat veteran and injuring 15 people. Fears were quickly borne out of a further surge Wednesday, when he arrived in Jerusalem - to call on President Reuven Rivlin in Jerusalem and hold talks with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

The day began with Palestinian terror attacks in the capital: In one, at Damascus Gate, a racing Palestinian vehicle seriously injured an Israeli pedestrian. It was followed by gunfire on a bus in the northern suburb of Ramot and the chase of a Palestinian drive-by shooting car carrying heavily armed passengers.

The US State Department's John Kirby said Tuesday night that the US "condemns in the strongest possible terms the outrageous terrorist attacks in Jaffa, Petah Tikvah and Jerusalem, which tragically claimed the life of US citizen Taylor Allen Force and left many others severely injured." Heartfelt condolences were extended to "the family and friends of Taylor Allen Force and all those affected by these senseless attacks. We continue to encourage all parties to take affirmative steps to reduce tensions and reduce calm," the statement concluded.

The US statement omitted to utter the word "Palestinian" in its condemnation of "the outrageous terrorist attack" that claimed the life of a US combat veteran of America's Iraqi and Afghanistan wars and critically injured his wife.

As the attacks continued, former Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who leads an opposition party, called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon to resign for failing to halt the deadly Palestinian offensive after six months of terror.

He said that even the most obvious steps of imposing penalties on Israeli firms employing illegal Palestinian infiltrators and repairing breaches in the security barrier had been neglected. Instead, half a billion shekels had been handed out to the Palestinian Authority along with another 30,000 work permits.

As debkafile reported earlier, the knifing attack in Jaffa was perpetrated not far from the venue of the Peres Center for Peace, the US vice president's first stop on his arrival in Israel Tuesday.

Questions have since been asked about why the police did not cordon off that part of Tel Aviv-Jaffa as a "sterile zone" ahead of the visit.

Furthermore, the Jaffa killer, aged 22 from Qaliqilya, was able to race through Jaffa streets, stabbing 10 passersby and motorists as he ran, before he was cut down by shots on the Jaffa promenade. Drivers who saw this happening could have run him down and cut short his killing spree.

Shortly before Biden landed at Ben Gurion Airport, three serious terrorist attacks were staged in Jerusalem and Petah Tikva near Tel Aviv, leaving nine people injured, including two Border Guards policemen who are still in critical condition.

In Jerusalem, the perpetrator, who used a Karl Gustav to shoot the policemen, had an Israeli ID as a resident of Issawiyeh village which borders the French Hill neighborhood in the northern part of the capital and the Hebrew University's Mount Scopus campus. He chose Salahadin Street outside Damascus Gate because he counted on the densely built area covering his flight while continuing to shoot at his pursuers.

In Petah Tikva, another terrorist from the Palestinian town of Qalqilya, stabbed an Orthodox Jew of 40 in the throat inside a wine store. Before losing consciousness the victim fought back, grabbed the knife and turned it fatally against his assailant.

debkafile's counterterrorism sources maintain that it can no longer be claimed that the current wave of terror is caused by individuals acting spontaneously. The day's violence was patently organized by a single Palestinian command center to synchronize with the visit to Israel of the American vice president - and not for the first time.

During the Second Intifada, Palestinian terrorist organizations habitually staged outbreaks of extreme violence whenever a high-ranking US official visited Israel or Ramallah, as part of their strategy for extorting concessions from Israel and driving the Jewish State to desperation.

Nonetheless, as terror struck in one location after another, Netanyahu government spokesmen and police chiefs persisted in their hollow claim that it was merely the work of individuals and unconnected to any other events. Although the police spokesman admitted after midnight Tuesday a link with the Biden visit, the official line was designed to cover three major lapses:

1. The general public was not warned that the US Vice President's visit to Israel had the potential for sparking a new peak in Palestinian terror.

2. The Jaffa area should have been secured.

3. The personnel securing the Old City of Jerusalem and its shrines are exposed to deadly attacks day by day by Palestinian terrorists. This must be stopped.

US Vice President Joe Biden will start his five-day Middle East tour in Israel Tuesday, March 8, by presenting the multibillion financial and defense aid package promised by the Obama administration to redress the imbalance in Israeli security generated by the nuclear deal with Iran. debkafile's sources report that Prime Minister's Binyamin Netanyahu was also quietly tipped from Biden's close circle that he may decide to use the handover of this package as the opening shot of his run for the Democratic presidential nomination, despite past repudiations.

Our sources in Jerusalem reveal that Israeli officials in charge of staging the Biden visit were directed to handle the visitor to all intents and purposes as a candidate running for election to the White House on Nov. 4.

His presentation of an impressive US assistance program is meant to convey President Barack Obama's desire to straighten out his rocky relations with Netanyahu before his departure, while also portraying his vice president to American Jews as a successor who will continue to look after Israel's security interests.

The two governments have been negotiating for months on the size of US military assistance committed by Washington for preserving Israel's qualitative military and security edge in the next decade, in the course of which Iran and the Islamic Republic' will substantially upgrade the military capabilities of its armed forces and radical Revolutionary Guards Corps.

In recent talks between US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Israel's Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Israel put in a bid for $50 billion to be spread over 10 years, so raising the US military aid package for Israel from $3.5 bn to $5 bn a year. The Americans said this sum required further negotiation.

According to sources close to the prime minister, the vice president will be bringing the administration's compromise proposal of between $40 billion and $50 billion, to be spread out over 13-15 years. He will also throw in to the deal US weaponry and items of cutting-edge military technology withheld hitherto from the IDF.

That list was agreed last week when Gen. Joseph Dunford, the Chairman of the US Chiefs of Staff sat down in Tel Aviv with IDF chief of staff Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkot and his top officers.

As for Biden's intentions, it should be noted that, although in February, he denied intending to contest the presidential nomination, he surprised political observers when, on Feb. 19, he sharply criticized the campaigns run by Democratic hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders. He accused them of "doom and gloom" and not doing enough to combat the idea that the country is in decline.

Talking to a Democratic Party audience in California on Feb. 28, Biden congratulated Clinton on her successes in the primaries.

Political observers who are familiar with the vice president's thought patterns say those comments were well calculated. They expect him to continue to stay in the wings of the campaign and watch Hillary get tied in knots over events in her past, not least the affair of the private emails she sent as Secretary of State. He expects her to be forced by the baggage she carries to give up her run for the presidency. Biden will then step in as the shining savior of the Democratic Party.  He and many of his backers are sure that he is the only Democrat capable of stopping Donald Trump's inexorable run for the presidency.

At the annual Gridiron Club anniversary dinner Saturday night, March 5, Joe Biden was reported to have quoted a reputed comment by Winston Churchill, "When eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber," he said, adding: "Our kids are watching. The world is watching. The American people are better than this."

These remarks indicate that Biden is guided by a strong sense of mission.
