 Daniel 2:28-45-Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king.  But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass. But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart. Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass.  His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.  This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king. Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

 

When it comes to Bible prophecy and 'last days' eschatology,  many Bible prophecy teachers have often alluded to the European Union as the central theme what would be the final world empire that exists prior to the return of the Lord.

 

Just this past week, in a stunning move that no one saw coming, Great Britain said "NO" to staying in the EU by a BREXIT vote margin of 52% to 48%. The common people of Great Britain have boldly declared in this referendum result that they prefer British sovereignty over rule by a central, unelected European bureaucracy that dictates from Brussels. I must say that the sovereignty of God cannot be overlooked regarding this matter.

 

Currently, the EU is saddled with economic and Muslim migration crises. Could it be that the current Muslim immigration may the agent for a major shift in Europe. Are beginning to see the signs of a future split in Europe, even states within states, separating between sheep and goat nations.

 

With the sudden departure of Great Britain, it can be said that France and Germany are now the two pillars of the European Union. However, if other countries (i. e. Scotland) in Europe follow Great Britain who will fill the void of their departure? If France decides to distance itself, this may force Germany to seek another pillar. Could this other pillar be Turkey??

 

Daniel 2:21-And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

 

Psalm 75:7-But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

 

Another important point that I would like to mention is that the European Union has never been a military force. And the dominant theme in last days prophecy of the 70th Week is one of a final world-dominating empire of the Antichrist wielding overwhelming military power. I believe that this is where NATO enters the equation.

 

What you see happening in Europe could heading America's way, because we promote the same sins and rebellion.

 

Isaiah 40:15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

 

Exciting times are ahead indeed. Many think that what has happened may have set back the prophetic timetable of end time events. I am of the unction that if anything, it may have accelerated the prophetic clock.

European capitals are busy with the organization of an international conference on the two-state solution, which would elaborate on the French Middle East Peace Initiative. Israel and the Palestinians were not invited to the preparative conference in Paris June 3. European leaders, including more Israel-leaning countries, such as Germany and the United Kingdom, agree that the next phase would include both. According to a senior European Union official who spoke to Al-Monitor on condition of anonymity, all EU foreign ministers decided to support the French initiative in order to challenge the parties and bolster the position of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

 

EU officials believe that not much can come out of such a conference without the United States playing an active role. Therefore, if the United States remains passive, the conference can be only of preliminary nature, to set a policy platform for future negotiations. And so if the conference eventually takes place before a new US president is sworn in (with a lame-duck administration in Washington) - with the United States effectively playing a passive role - Brussels will probably take the lead, to avoid a diplomatic vacuum.

 

The EU official told Al-Monitor, "Europe has decided to play a more independent role regarding the two-state solution process, especially given the transition in Washington and the uncertainty about the next president. Israeli-Palestinian conflict resolution is a key strategic interest of most European countries, as it affects the fight against fundamentalist terror and the security of the Mediterranean. Hence we would like to formulate the terms of reference and the structure for future negotiations."

 

According to the source, EU headquarters' officials - under the guidance of High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini - are coordinating content and moderation of such a conference mainly vis-a-vis French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is fully in the know.

 

The conference is planned to take place in Paris toward the end of the year, possibly after the US presidential election Nov. 8. The Quartet (United States, EU, United Nations and Russia) would be the one inviting the parties to the international peace conference, which would be based on the Quartet report published July 1. All participants of the Paris conference of June 3 will be invited, including the Arab League, in addition to Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA). The terms of reference of the conference will be the Quartet report. The parties will not be asked to adopt the report, but to negotiate on its basis.

 

The structure of the conference is already taking shape: Quartet representatives at the level of foreign ministers and the UN secretary-general will chair it; the opening plenary session will include speeches by all parties. It will also delineate a structure of negotiations, according to the following guidelines: a plenary session for reporting about and monitoring the negotiations; a bilateral committee of Israel and the PA only, to negotiate on the basis of the Quartet report all permanent status issues; and a multilateral track with Israel, the PA, the Arab League, Egypt, Jordan and Quartet representatives.

 

Concerning the bilateral Israel-Palestinian committee, it will work on core issues, starting with borders between the two states and security measures, including anti-terror cooperation. The two parties will establish subcommittees of negotiations on the following issues: settlements, Jerusalem, refugees, water and other infrastructure issues, future bilateral relations between the two states and mutual recognition.

 

With these issues to be discussed bilaterally, the multilateral track will negotiate the normalization of relations between the Arab states and Israel based on the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative; the construction of economic regional cooperation in the fields of tourism, trade, the environment and water (resembling the multilateral negotiations started by the Madrid conference of 1992; and the launch of regional security cooperation, mainly in the fields of anti-terror and curbing the dissemination of nonconventional arms.

 

The EU seems determined to go ahead with such plans, despite US hesitance and Israeli opposition. Given the alternative of a policy vacuum in the region - which will most probably lead to a violent outburst between the Palestinians and Israel and to greater difficulties in assembling an Arab-West coalition against the Islamic State - it would be important for the United States and Israel to reconsider their positions on such a conference.

 

US President Barack Obama would not want to leave behind him a region plagued by an armed intifada.

 

As for Israel, even the right-wing Netanyahu government must comprehend that a viable peace process based on a global consensus is in Israel's interest. It can always express its different position within the negotiations' framework. Israel's identity, security, morality and position in the world stand only to gain from an internationally monitored two-state solution process.

Europe and the world continue to reel economically from the fallout of Brexit--the British pulling out of the European Union. Fear of financial free-fall into the abyss of global depression is igniting fires of protests that something must be done. One such protest comes from the very heart of Europe--the area of the world most associated with Bible prophecy and the reviving Roman Empire.

 

Italian Finance Minister Pier Carlo Padoan warned that "The unthinkable is happening... A double reaction to Brexit is under way, one financial, one political. The financial one, at least until now, is limited. I am more worried about the political one...There is a cocktail of factors that can lead to various outcomes, including a further push towards disintegration."

 

Padoan lectured that those in authority in Europe must begin to listen to the people and their worries over out-of-control immigration, unemployment, and increasing inequality. Austerity measures, he said, exacerbate the problems, and something has to be done to change those budget rules Rome considers to be fueling the crisis.

 

He said, "Inequality is growing in Europe because growth is weak."

 

He said further, "We have had proposals on the table for months that say employment, growth, well-being and equality have to be the priorities... the situation we are in now is exceptional. We have to change."

 

There is a sense that Mr. Padoan's call for new leadership is rising among the common people not only of Europe, but of the whole of the Western world. The message, it is equally observable, is being missed by those who hold the financial reins at the highest echelons of power. There seems to be rebellion building amongst the common folk against the elite who display a wanton disregard for the rest of us.

 

When thinking on what Bible prophecy has to say about the ultimate outcome of all of the machinations going on in the arena of international power politics these days, the prophet Daniel comes immediately to mind. He was given some very specific things to pass along to us by the messenger sent from the throne room of God. The message had at its heart a most directly pertinent point regarding world economic conditions that will produce history's most all-controlling leader.

 

Here's what the great prophet tells us about this prophetic message that seems to be particularly relevant to the days into which our world is swiftly moving. Daniel was given a profile of the one who will be Antichrist. That beast of Revelation chapter 13, Daniel was told, will be a king of fierce countenance who will prosper greatly.

 

"And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand" (Daniel 8:25).

 

It is the first part of the prophecy that is most notable for our purposes. This last and most powerful political/military leader will "cause craft to prosper." He will apparently take a terrible economic situation that exists on a worldwide scale and turn it around. The economy will be caused, through his manipulations, to turn around in a mighty way.

 

Adolf Hitler did exactly this, students of recent history will recall. The German economy was in free-fall--actually had hit the bottom. Hitler turned it around.

 

But, we remember how he did it! All-out war-making--exactly how the angelic messenger told Daniel the final fuehrer--Antichrist--will accomplish the economic turn-around. "Through peace he will destroy many." The red horse of war, you will remember, follows immediately the rider on the white horse (Revelation chapter 6).

 

We again remember the perhaps overly used words of Henri Spaak, Secretary General of NATO 1957-1960: "What we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the alliances of all people and to lift us out of the economic morass into which we are sinking. Send us such a man, and be he god or devil, we will receive him."

 

The world--particularly the stress-torn EU--certainly appears to be in an economic morass. A central figure from the exact center of Rome is calling for leadership to again cause craft to prosper. According to all other signals that are everywhere the prophecy student looks today, that man--who really is a devil, must be awaiting in the shadows to step into the spotlight of history when the call comes.

 

That call will come just after another call resounds across the earth's atmosphere. That call will be Christ's shout, "Come up here!" (Revelation 4:1).
