A prophetic warning for our nation – Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com Many Christians either state or ask if the situation in the United States means that the end of the world is coming and the return of Christ is around the corner. Certainly,there are terrible things that this generation of Americans has never experienced—the plague of COVID, for example, has caused personal freedoms to be taken away at an accelerated rate. There are threats from other countries. Christians are seeing their valuescome under constant attack. Let us remember that it is not the United States that is the timepiece of Christ’s return. There is terrible persecution of Christians in other countries such as China, and persecution by Islam. Do you not think those Christiansare crying out for Christ’s return? The political, economic or social condition of America is not the axel upon which prophecy turns. America is not found in the Bible. You have to do some pretty fantasticwordplay, eisegesis, and biblical gymnastics to find America in the Bible. It doesn’t mean that America doesn’t exist or has been destroyed. It only means that it is not specifically found in the Bible. America’s role in prophecy today is contingent on itsability as a world power to spread the gospel, influence events, people and the political landscape in the Middle East, which directly or indirectly impacts God’s prophetic timepiece—Israel. Don’t get angry with me, read your Bible for yourself. When we think of the end times, we often think about the great falling away and how there will be wars and rumors of wars, famines and pestilences. There will be earthquakes,persecution, betrayals and false Christs. And as Christ says in Matthew 24:6, “see that you are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Christ lists these events in general even as he says the gospel will be preachedin all the world “for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Then Christ becomes specific to Israel and what happens there. In the chronology Christ provides, it is from Israel that the end time events culminate, and the rest of the worldwill know that the Lord is God. This is backed up by all the prophets that write of the end of days. So where does America fit in the end of days? Currently, America is an influencer of prophecy. During Barack Obama’s two terms, American policy decidedly favored Israel’s enemies. President Trump’s policies highly favoredIsrael. Joe Biden appears to be reverting back to Obama’s policies. And this could present incredible danger for all Americans. Matthew 25:32-34, “And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideshis sheep from the goats: and he shall set the sheep on his right hand…Then shall the king say unto them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you.” Zechariah 12:9, speaking of the Day of the Lord, says “I willseek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” The nations are judged. And individuals are judged. Those who disagree withthe radical left are labeled, marked in society, ridiculed, hated and canceled. Likewise, radical right movements also employ psychological mechanisms of self-censorship toward followers by selling the idea that some unnamed force is taking care of the wrongsin the world, so no action is necessary, just wait and see. People don�t know what to believe. They feel they can�t speak out. Anything said can be branded racist, bigotry, extremism, or some other form of inhumanity. In my opinion, this is the most deadlyvirus faced by today�s America. Epoch Times� Peter Svab writes, �Due to the psychological mechanisms of self-censorship, a single account blocked, a single video deleted, or a book banned can result ina broad chilling of speech. Important policy debates don�t occur, news story ideas aren�t pitched to editors, and books aren�t accepted for publishing, or written to begin with�it appears the censors employ the psychological tricks on purpose, achieving maximumsuppression with minimal responsibility. These methods aren�t new�in fact, they have long been employed by totalitarian regimes. The principle of self-censorship is that people, just to be on the safe side, refrain from saying even things that aren�t outrightbanned by some applicable rules.� Alexis de Tocqueville, in his book Democracy in America, Volume II, wrote in 1840, �It covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated rules, minute anduniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrainedfrom acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence: it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, ofwhich the government is the shepherd.� Last week, DC Circuit Court Judge Laurence Silberman, a Reagan appointee, warned with his dissent in a libel case, that the mainstream news media and Silicon Valley withits influence over news distribution are tools of the Democratic Party. He wrote in his opinion, �It should be borne in mind that the first step taken by any potential authoritarian or dictatorial regime is to gain control of communications, particularly thedelivery of news. It is fair to conclude, therefore, that one-party control of the press and media is a threat to a viable democracy.� Silberman says this suppresses a vibrant trade in ideas and could give rise to countervailing extremism. Liberty is a flame that lives in the hearts of men and women. It is not eternal. When it dies, it takes more than a spark to rekindle it, perhaps persecution beyond imaginedto strike the flint of freedom. So, as Galatians 5:1 says, �Stand fast, therefore, in the Liberty by which Christ has set you free and be not again entangled with the yoke of bondage.� True liberty starts with Christ, then perhaps you may know the price ofsoft tyranny and the atrophy that follows when freedom is not regularly exercised. Be vigilant. Stand up. Speak out. A free people can only exist by adhering to the precepts of God. Bondage is bondage, whether it is sin or tyranny.
