Why Is There No Peace Between Israel and The Palestinians? � James Sinkinson - https://www.prophecynewswatch.com/article.cfm?recent_news_id=4838 Last week, the U.S. State Department criticized Israel for destroying a terrorist's home--an action the State Department said serves to "undercut efforts to advance a negotiatedtwo-state solution." Surely the brutal murder of an innocent 19-year old Israeli man and the wounding of two others--which is what the Palestinian terrorist did--abundantly undercuts the prospectsfor peace. Surely rewarding that terrorist for his bloody act through the Palestinian Authority's "pay for slay" program undercuts efforts for peace more than the demolition of a terrorist's house. But the State Department's is just one of many false justifications for the failure to attain an Israel-Palestinian peace (let alone a "two-state solution"). To find thereal reason, we would best look at the root causes of Palestinian terrorism, which have been baked into Palestinian society for generations. Unfortunately, many mainstream media and world leaders who claim to care about ending the conflict assert that the real obstacles are, variously, Israeli settlements, Israel's"occupation" or Israel's unification of Jerusalem. In truth, none of these issues can be the root cause of the conflict--because the conflict predates each of them. In short, the conflict began because of Palestinian Arab refusal to accept the right of Jews to create a state in their indigenous homeland--a land where no other statesexisted. This violent Arab rejectionism has been the cause of the conflict and its singular driving force for more than 100 years. The fuel perpetuating Palestinian rejectionism over all these decades is anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incitement--hateful propaganda that at its worst is animated by a cultof death. Almost every facet of Palestinian life has been engaged to spread hateful messages against Jews and Israel--whether through the media, religion, literature, songs, theater,cinema and the public space. Nowhere does this hate permeate Palestinian society more than in its indoctrination of Palestinian children and youth. Recently, the European Parliament passed three resolutions that condemn the P.A. for continuing to teach hate and violence in its school textbooks and that oppose E.U. aidto the P.A. being used for this purpose. German MEP Niclas Herbst of the European People's Party stressed that "paying teachers to teach antisemitism and incitement to violence through Palestinian schoolbooks should never be subsidized by E.U. money." Despite a report attached to the E.U. resolutions laying out numerous examples of how their education system glorifies terror--claiming that Jews are deceptive and dangerous,as well as using the term "Zionist occupation" instead of Israel--the P.A. remains unrepentant. "Everything mentioned in our school textbooks is an accurate and honest description," said P.A. Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh. However, the most egregious indoctrination to violence occurs at summer terrorist camps for Palestinian children. There, youngsters are indoctrinated and prepared in theways of bloodshed. Already, according to Jerusalem Post correspondent Khaled Abu Toameh, 50,000 children have registered for child-soldier camps run by Hamas. The "training camps" are named after the "Sword of al-Quds battle"--the name Hamas gave to its recentwar against Israel. These summer camps provide a convenient pulpit from which Hamas can preach its radical Islamic ideology. Among the topics studied are the "themes" of "the liberation ofPalestine" and the destruction of Israel, adherence to the path of jihad ("the culture of the resistance") and the cult of shaheeds ("martyrs"). Not only does this vile practice use and abuse children, but it also answers those who during the recent conflict claimed that any person in Gaza under the age of 18 thatwas killed during the May conflict was automatically a civilian. A report published by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center found that at least one of the 66 children on the list of those killed during the fightingwas a 17-year-old member of a terror group. He was, sadly, just another example of terrorists' cynical use of child soldiers, who are recruited chiefly in the Hamas-run summer camps. Such recruitment of children is a violation of international humanitarianlaw. The images of little children learning to fire weapons, dressed in army fatigues and jumping through hoops of fire and attack tunnels, are a sad indictment of Palestiniansociety. Rather than create a better future for Palestinian children, this training dooms them--and Israeli children--to a cycle of violence fueled by hatred and incitement. Israel's Foreign Ministry puts it best: "Peace can never reign between Israel and the Palestinians as long as generation after generation of Palestinians are being fed anever-ending diet of anti-Israel incitement." There is a direct correlation between education, violence and terrorism. Whether in P.A. or Hamas schools--and sadly, even schools run by the United Nations Relief and WorksAgency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA)--the State of Israel is portrayed as an enemy that has to be destroyed. These "lessons" often descend into open anti-Semitism. Rather than criticizing Israel for defending itself from terrorism, the Biden administration would be more effective in promoting peace if it were to reverse its decisionto start re-funding the P.A. (with no preconditions) and UNRWA, whose goal is to prolong the conflict. Indeed, this conflict will not end when negotiations are complete and a document is signed. True peace cannot be achieved solely through signatures on a piece of paper.It must also exist in the hearts and minds of the Palestinian people. Just as Israel has educated its society for peace throughout its history, so too must the Palestinians embrace this process. The United States and the international community must understand that its obsessive focus on side issues like settlements, Jerusalem and demolition of terrorists' housesallows and incentivizes violent Palestinian rejectionism. The date for Tish’a B’Av 2021 is Sunday, July 18, in the Hebrew Year 5781. Tish’a B’Av begins at sunset Saturday, July 17, and ends at sunset Sunday, July 18. Tish’a B’Av is the culmination of a three-week period of increasing mourning that begins with the Fast of the 17th of Tammuz. During this three-week period, the Scroll ofLamentations is read, prayers are recited during the evening services, and the Torah Scroll cabinet (Ark) is covered by black cloth. In some synagogues, the Scroll of Job is read on the morning of Tish’a B’Av. Tish’a B’Av primarily commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples, both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av. The first Temple was destroyed by theBabylonians in 586 BC, and the second Temple by the Romans in 70 AD. The First Occurrence •Av 9, 1312 BC – Only two of the twelvespies sent by Moses to observe the land of Canaan, Joshua and Caleb, returned with a positive report. The ten-spy report caused the Hebrews to cry, panic, and despair of ever entering their Promised Land. For this, they were punished, and Yahweh decreed thattheir generation would not enter the land and that for all future generations, this date would become one of crying and misfortune for their descendants, the Jewish people (Numbers 13:25-14:12, Zechariah 7:3-5, 8:19). First and Second Temple Destructions •Av 9, 421 BC – The First Temple builtby King Solomon was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, and the Judeans were sent into Babylonian exile. About 100,000 Jews were killed during the invasion. The remaining tribes in the southern kingdom were exiled to Babylon and Persia. •Av 9, 70 AD – The Second Temple builtby Ezra and Nehemiah was destroyed by the Romans on August 4, 70 AD. Over 2,500,000 Jews died as a result of war, famine and disease. Over 1,000,000 Jews were exiled to all parts of the Roman Empire. Over 100,000 Jews were sold as slaves by Romans or werekilled and tortured in gladiatorial “games” and pagan celebrations. Subsequent Happenings on or Around Tish’a B’av •Av 9, 71 AD – The Roman army plowedJerusalem with salt on July 25, 71 AD. •Av 9, 132 AD – The Romans crushed BarKokhba’s revolt and destroyed the city of Betar, killing over 100,000 Jews on July 8, 132. •Av 9, 133 AD – July 29, 133. TurnusRufus ploughed the site of the Temple. The Romans build the pagan city of Aelia Capitolina on the site of Jerusalem. •Av 9, 135 AD – The destruction of SimeonBar Kokhba’s army on August 5, 135 AD. •Av 9, 1095 AD – The First Crusade wasdeclared by Pope Urban II on July 20, 1095. The Crusades brought death and destruction to thousands of Jews, totally obliterating many communities in Rhineland and France. •Av 9, 1190 AD – 500 Jews died as a resultof the rich storming a castle in York, England, on July 14, 1190. •Av 9, 1290 AD – July 25, 1290 – Jewsforced out of England accompanied by pogroms and confiscation of books and property. •Av 9, 1306 AD – July 22, 1306 – TheJews were expelled from France again, accompanied by pogroms and confiscation of books and property. •Av 9, 1492 AD – August 11, 1492 – TheInquisition in Spain and Portugal culminated in the expulsion of the Jews from the Iberian Peninsula. Families were separated, many died by drowning, and there was massive loss of property by all. •Av 9, 1648 AD – On July 18, 1648, BohdanZenobi Chmielnicki, the leader of the Cossacks, a military class of Ukrainian-southern Russians, began the massacre of tens of thousands of Polish Jews. This massacre continued until 1651. •Av 9, 1914 AD — World War I begins on August 1, 1914. Russia also launched persecutions against the Jews in Eastern Russia on this same day. There were over 400 pogroms immediatelyfollowing World War I in Hungary, Ukraine, Poland, and Russia. •Av 9, 1929 AD – August 15, 1929. This date marked the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, during which eight Palestinian terrorists infiltrated the Munich Olympic village and killed eleven membersof the Israel Olympic team. •Av 9, 2014 AD – On August 5, 2014, Israelcommemorated past and present tragedies, especially the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem and the subsequent exile of the Jews from the Land of Israel. •Av 9, 2015 AD – On July 25, 2015, theStatue to Satan (Baphomet) was unveiled by the Satanic Temple in Detroit. •Av 9, 2016 AD – August 14, 2016. TheIslamic Movement in Israel called for a mass ascent of Muslims to the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount, and many Arabs violently rioted. The Olympics in Rio were rife with anti-Semitic incidents. •Av 9, 2017 AD – August 1, 2017. Muslimsescalated a war for the Temple Mount following the capitulation by the Israeli government over security measures on the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, or Kotel. •Av 9, 2018AD – July 10, 2018. Marchersof the Faithful Movement on Tish’a B’Av 2018 were attacked with stones and other dangerous objects by Arab Islamic rioters. On the night of this year’s Tu B’Av, a completely red lunar eclipse appeared in the heavens above Israel. •Av 9, 2019 AD – August 11, 2019. PalestinianMuslims shouted at Israeli security forces (unseen) in the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. At least five vehicles were damaged in attacks by Jerusalem Arabs hurling stones between the start of Tish’a B’Av (which began with the fall of darkness onSaturday evening) and Sunday at 12 noon. An 18-year-old Jewish boy was seriously wounded Sunday morning when he was attacked by an Arab terrorist on Hagai Street in Jerusalem. •Av 9, 2020 AD – July 30, 2020. Protestsagainst the Israeli government due to the Covid-19 lockdowns continued unabated. Hamas views Israel’s intentions to extend its sovereignty over parts of the Jordan Valley, Judea and Samaria as a declaration of war. Conclusions Yahweh declared that Tish’a B’Av would be a day of mourning and misfortune. To see these occurrences as simply coincidence would deny His word. Let us pray that Av 9th thisyear is not yet another day of disaster for our Jewish brothers.
