What are we going to do about it? - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
Many times a week, I am asked what we as Christian Americans should do about the situation our country is in. Certainly, when The Daily Jot was started in January of 2002, it was because of the burden the Lord laid on my heart about equipping and encouraging people to evangelize. Our concept is to analyze current events, especially those that are related to prophecy, to assist those with an ear to hear and a heart to receive in relating with others about the Lord. Each day, we seek to inform our readers of what is happening and how it may relate to God's word. Every day, we give you a verse, an event, and what is revealed to me as a truth relating to that event. Once it is given, it is up to you how to use it.
Many people often strike back because they disagree with what is written. You may not believe the many things I am accused of being, even my salvation is often challenged. I think the Lord knew what was going to happen. So to prevent me from being offended, he gave me Ezekiel 3:17-21. Verses 20-21 say, "Again, When a righteous man turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at your hand. Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous sins not, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also you have delivered your soul."
In other words, "you better tell them what I tell you to tell them and it is up to them to do with it what they will. But if you don't tell them, its on you." My role is to warn and encourage. Afterwards, there is personal responsibility to do something with it--talk it over with family, friends, strangers. Turn it into action of some kind. Use this analysis, whether you agree with it or not, to do something that advances God's Word. If The Daily Jot stirs you in some way, it has served its purpose. Many people are so frustrated they are not sure what to do. Others are so apathetic they don't think any action will have an impact. Some are stymied by fear, others by foolishness or paranoia. Many think prayer is the only needed action.
Prayer is wonderful if that is all you can do. James 5:16 says, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." But as James wrote even before that in 2:17: "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." The Lord wants you to act. Pray and act. If you are not hearing from the Lord on what to do, pray more fervently. It is not up to me to tell you what to do. The Lord will tell you by his Holy Spirit. You must hear and take action. The Lord will not tell you to do anything that does not align with his Holy Scripture IN ITS CONTEXT--that is how you confirm if you are hearing from the Lord. Righteous people must be more vocal and active about what is just and right. Move beyond your walls.
