This Land Belongs to... God

This Land Belongs to... God - Sharon Sanders - www.cfijerusalem.org

"So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar, where he settled. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them." (Genesis 26:17-18).

There is a very ancient town in southern Israel called "Beersheva". It is thought that the name of the town means the seventh well or well of seven - (be-ayr' sheh'-vah) means: be'er = well and sheva = meaning seven. The Torah tells us that when Abraham went from Ur Kasdim (Ur of the Chaldeans) (???? ???????????) in present-day southern Iraq to the Land of Israel, he stopped in the water-scarce Negev, and dug a well. The local residents stole this valuable well. Abraham then confronted the local king, Abimelech (???????????) and together they made a pact (???????, brit) stating that Abraham owned the well. Abraham gave Abimelech seven (???) lambs as a testimony that he dug the well (??????) and they both swore (???????????) upon it. (???-???? ????? ????????? ??????-?????? ?????? ???? ???? ??????????? ?????????.) "The place was called Be'er Sheva, since the two made an oath there." (Genesis 21:31) (Aish.com) So the name of the place could be translated "Well of the Oath."

In the story of Genesis 26:17-18 we learn that Isaac settled in Gerar and went to work in opening up his father Abraham's wells. The Philistines had closed them so there was no water, they were dry and uninhabited. No one probably gave it any thought after Abraham died that the wells would ever be opened again, but Isaac called the wells by the names they were given by his father - wells of salvation. Isaac found living and running water in this valley of Gerar, but it was not long until the herdsmen in the area said "These wells belong to us!"

Beersheva - Abraham's well

Today many ancient wells have been reopened and the Land of Israel reclaimed by Abraham's descendants; however, the local Arab residents say the same thing as the herdsmen of Gerar: "These wells....and this Land belongs to us!"  It seems the quest for stopping the possession of the Land by the Jewish people is not over. We have a satanic quest trying to prevent God's Divine Will from being carried out. Israel's mission is to possess the land on earth for God and His Glorious Coming King, Yeshua Satan's attempt at the scattering of the Jewish people in 70 AD meant for him (and the world) that the quest for the Jewish people to ever possess the Land (and its wells) was over. The Greeks and the Romans were also deceived. When the dry bones of Ezekiel came together, from the four winds (the four corners of the earth) the repossession of the land began to take place. Ever since that time, the Arab people living there, instead of living at peace with the Jewish people, have not stopped saying "These wells belong to us!"  It is quite sad to see this happen when the desire of the Jewish people is to live in peace with their Arab neighbors. As Christians living in the Land of Israel, we can truthfully say, that as long as we have lived here, almost thirty years, we have seen the Jewish people desiring to share the good things and the bounty of the Land with their Arab neighbors. But it seems only Israel is giving, and receiving nothing in return but revenge, hatred, bitterness, and violent plans to destroy what God has Divinely ordained: for the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to possess the wells and the Land. It appears that Amalek, the grandson of Esau (Genesis 36:12) and the ancient Canaanites, the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites were enemies of the Jewish people, just as the Syrians, Iranians, Hamas and Hezbollah are present-day enemies, demanding that what belongs to Israel belongs to them.

I felt it  was important to list scriptures about the Land and the promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for you to look up before prayer time: Jeremiah 11:5; 12:14-15; Zechariah 2:8; Ezekiel 28:25; Amos 9:14; Genesis 3:8; 13:15; 15:13,16, 19-21; 17:8; 26:3,4; 35:12; 48:4; 50:24-25; Exodus 3:16-17; 6:6-8; 12:51; 15:13-21; Deuteronomy 1:25; 8:7-9; 30:3). As you "dig" deeper in the wells of richness from God's Word may you be given streams of living water to flow from your hearts in the form of intercessory prayer for Israel at this time. God is in the process of restoration and is now distributing again the Land's ruined inheritances to their rightful owners, the Jewish people. "This is what the Lord says: In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the Land and to reassign its desolate inheritances..." (Isaiah 49:8, NIV). Let us be in step, in the Spirit, with God and His purposes.

Let's Go to the Throne Room and Pray:

Recently senior defense officials in Israel warned that the Iron Dome system would be unable to fully protect Israel against a massive rocket attack by Hezbollah. Amid concerns of a possible escalation of hostilities along Israel's northern border, Channel 3 News recently reported that an Iron Dome anti-rocket battery has been deployed in the area. The battery was positioned near Haifa to defend against possible threats from Lebanon and Syria:

*  Pray that the Iron Dome which could be the bow with which the Lord shoots His arrows at His enemies will supernaturally take out any attempts to harm and destroy innocent lives of the Jewish people through bitter hostilities from her Arab neighbors. "...His arrow shall go forth as the lightning..." (Zechariah 9:14)..

*  Pray fervently for God to use this defense weapon against any future incoming rockets to protect Israel and that its interception rate would surpass that of Operation Protective Edge. "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD" (Isaiah 54:17).

*  Intercede for the saving of lives and for the salvation of those who are deceived by evil and dark spirits.

*  Pray for the salvation and redemption of Israel. "Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing..." (Psalm 69:1,2).

*  Beseech the Lord for the Jewish people to remain united in whatever decisions have to be made in the future. May they also not rely on the nations, but turn to the Living God of Israel for help. He promised when they call unto Him, that He would show them great and mighty things.

Once again, we see that ancient Arabic and Islamic thinking-assuming that the Land of Israel belongs to them-has characterized their thought processes, as it has for centuries. Fueled today by extremism, the fires of violent behavior and a demonic bitterness that will stop at nothing less than outright murder of everyone who is Jewish (or Christian) are burning in the hearts of many who "could" live in peace with Israel, if they only would have a "change of heart." This lies in the power of God to accomplish. God IS able to change hearts unless they go beyond reprobate minds. Through our ongoing prayers for Israel and her Arab neighbors, we cry out as Watchmen on the Walls that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, and that God's Divine desires will be accomplished for His Glory. The Land is actually "the Lord's Land" where Scripture says, "The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with Me" (Leviticus 25:23). God's promises to Abraham and his descendants is for them to inhabit the land, work the land, live on the land and keep it for His Kingdom to come on earth. All who come against His City of Jerusalem, in the end, will be "cut to pieces." "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves" (Zechariah 12:2,3).
