Encouragement during these prophetic times - Bill Wilson - www.dailyjot.com
As the election draws near, the headlines in the news appear to be more shrill and threatening. Democrats are supporting the invading caravan of illegal immigrants amassing at the border. The Middle East is in an uproar with "Palestinians" rioting against Israel, hints are surfacing of a US-sponsored "peace" plan that could divide Israel in half, and Saudi Arabia, Turkey and America are all in a diplomatic uproar over a murdered journalist. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia are recovering from horrible natural disasters. Several unusual earthquakes have stricken Canada. These are among the very prophetically significant events that are accelerating around the world.
Yet the preachers are preaching self-improvement, prosperity, personal empowerment, self-indulgence, and strange theologies. The politicians are bringing about wars and rumors of wars. There are earthquakes, famines and pestilences and persecutions. Jesus prophesied these things would come about. In Luke 21:8,9, Jesus said, "Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draws near: go ye not therefore after them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by."
Jesus said that during these times (Verses 16, 17), "And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake." You see, Jesus is telling us of the days to come. They are not going to be easy from the world's eye view. Those who speak in the name of Jesus and preach that false hope that as a Christian all things are going to go well, are false teachers. In fact, Jesus tells us in Luke 21:12 that we will be delivered up to the authorities for His name's sake. Verse 13 says, "And it shall turn to you for a testimony."
In fact, as the days of the world grow worse and worse, and the persecutions increase as do the signs of the times, Jesus has these words of comfort in verses 18-19, "But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls." Jesus promises when he lays out the Great Commission in Matthew 28 that he will never leave you nor forsake you. He also says of your clothing, food and needs in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." We are to be about our Father's business, seeking the kingdom of God, seizing opportunities for a testimony. We should see these times as a time of victory rather than through a lens of fear. Be encouraged!
